In this episode, Mark and David sit down with Dr. Anita Seamans. Anita earned her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Our Lady of the Lake University. Anita also attended the 244ths session of the F.B.I. National Academy. Anita has 39 years of experience as a law enforcement officer/detective. Anita has been a licensed instructor with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education for 32 years and currently teaches basic and advanced peace officer training at the Alamo Area Council of Governments Law Enforcement Academy. Anita also provides expert testimony for the Kendal County District Attorney’s Office in trials involving offenses against children. Anita is also a national instructor and teaches advanced courses, including child abuse and child death investigations and the investigation of suicide, across the United States.
They'll cover all of Anita's training classes including apparent suicide investigations, child death and abuse, and preventing failures in investigations. What can Law Enforcement learn from Mick Jagger about recruiting informants?
In this episode, Mark sits down with his co-host David Broadway. David is a thirty-four-year-retired practitioner in criminal justice. During his career, David served ten years in a local police department in the patrol, detective and K-9 divisions. In 1986, David was selected to be a founding member of Florida’s first Anti-Terrorist and Fugitive Apprehension Bureau by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). During his law enforcement career, he identified unique avenues to recruit foreign nationals and target populations to assist state and national agencies as confidential sources. Further, he recruited and managed confidential sources and developed and taught a block of instruction for the FDLE academy. A recurring theme in David’s yearly performance review was “he has an uncanny ability to develop confidential sources.”

In this episode, Mark and David sit down with Joe Willis and talk about all things property and evidence. Joe is a 25-year veteran of the Keene (NH) Police Department. He is both a national instructor and an auditor in the property and evidence management field. While assigned as the department property and evidence officer, he was an integral member of the team to achieve CALEA recognition and certification for accreditation. He is a member of the International Association for Property and Evidence.
Joe discusses how both of his property and evidence room training classes not only benefit the room manager but the agency overall. Joe also talks about his Evidence Room audit program. In this episode, Mark and David chat with George Perez. George is an active law enforcement executive for the eighth largest police agency in the country. He has served the community of Miami-Dade, Florida for over 22 years as a police professional. George has risen through the ranks of his department and has worked and commanded the Internal Affairs unit which consists of administrative, criminal and public corruption sections. His experience has also included overseeing compliance for the department, which experienced the training institute, legal bureau, employee wellness, cyber investigations sections as well as jail/police accountability operations. George is also routinely responsible for conducting internal affairs investigations for the State of Florida.
George discusses his approach to teaching the Internal Affairs certification course for PATC. He breakdowns how being fact finders is the most important part of any internal affairs investigator. In this episode, Mark and David sit down with Dr. Lisa Grossman. Lisa Grossman is an expert in peak performance training and mental skills development with extensive experience working with military and law enforcement agencies, healthcare providers, combat/wounded veterans, corporate executives, and professional athletes.
Lisa discusses the effect PTSD has on officers. She also discusses different coping techniques she teaches in her classes to help officers with stress. Knowing how to handle stress in healthy ways better prepares officers to avoid as many problems in the future.
In this episode, Mark sits down with Mike Halbleib. Michael Halbleib is currently a lieutenant colonel with the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. Michael began his career with the Louisville Police Department. He was promoted to detective with the Metro Narcotics Major Case Unit. He has investigated numerous major cases of narcotics trafficking organizations and assisted in the prosecution and conviction of several criminal syndicates or conspiracies.
Mike discusses the importance of maintaining up-to-date information on a search warrant throughout a case. He also breaks down how to prevent a drug dealer from becoming a "King Pin" in status. Lastly, Mike discusses his covert surveillance class. He explains how students can apply proper technology and techniques to be successful.

Mark currently serves as a special agent supervisor for a state-level criminal investigative agency. In that capacity, he commands the Major Crimes Division and Special Investigations Unit for one-quarter of the state. The special agents he supervises conduct high-profile criminal investigations, including: officer-involved shootings, homicides, serial crimes, public official corruption, sexual assaults, and large-scale financial crimes. In his over 29 year law enforcement career, he has served in multiple capacities to include: patrol, narcotics, crime scene, detective bureau, and in various supervisory roles.
In this episode, we explore a wide variety of topics that face investigators of officer-involved shootings. We look at this hot button issue facing the country from the perspective of those investigating these cases. In this episode, Mark and David sit down with Melissa Maranville. Melissa comes with almost 30 years of experience in the criminal justice field, either working, researching, developing, or delivering education and training. Her experience also includes developing and delivering mass fatalities and counter-terrorism education content at the Department of Homeland Security training division and the College of Forensic Psychology on expert witness courtroom testimony regarding Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking. Melissa currently teaches four courses for PATC. Those courses include Cryptocurrency and the Dark Web Investigations, Linkage Investigations: Cryptocurrency, Dark Web and Social Media, Social Media and Cell Phone Investigative Techniques, and Domestic Violence and Policing for PATC.
