Join me this week as I share what’s REALLY happening when we’re doing something new and everything feels terrible.
I promise it is not what you think!
The absolute best thing you can take away is this: when everything feels terrible (BECAUSE you are moving towards something new), remember that all of your shit is being reorganized so you have the bandwidth and capacity to have what you are creating.
You will still feel uncomfortable at times, even when you know what to expect, but knowing what’s happening gives you much more choice over your experience.

Join me this week as I share the top thing I’ve learned in my 10+ years as a Creative Entrepreneur. In this quick but potent episode, you’ll learn:
🎯 Why it can take hundreds of trying things to find YOUR unique path
🎯 How unlikely it is that someone else’s way is your way
🎯 The one thing you need to do to get into action today
Excerpt:
“Showing up and making your ideas real things looks like trying as many things as it takes until it works. And for many people, this is hundreds of things. You will try so many things along your path and you have to, or else you will never find your unique path that works for you. And you do have a path. All of us do.”

Join me this week as I share with you the five steps I use to take projects from a glimmer of an idea into a completed, finished thing that lives in the world. I’ve made (and launched) so many projects over the years and I’ve deduced the process down into five steps. Here’s the best part - you only need to know what you know right now!
How to Make Things in Five Steps:
Tune in to learn how to do each of these five steps.
Excerpt:
“Step number four is to keep showing up and trusting and tuning in for guidance. Sourcing that within yourself. It's very natural for us to look outside ourselves for guidance or for information. Again, we're taught to do this from the earliest age in Western cultures, so of course that's what you're gonna do. But I wanna tell you something here. No one has your answers for you. I can't tell you how many years I spent looking outside of myself for my answers because I thought someone else had them.”

Join me this week as I show you why you have to start on the idea that you have right now, and you can't be precious about it being the one or working out. Why do I say this? Because you won't know the path or wisdom your idea holds until you take action and get feedback.
You'll learn:
Excerpt:
"It's very silly for us to think that our one thing, our first thing, the idea that we have right now, the partnership that you have when you're a teenager, or maybe the partnership you have right now, needs to be the one, and you're not willing to take in any other information. You're not willing to be wrong. You're not willing to learn, and morph as you go along and let things take the shape that they're gonna take."

Join me this week as I share why chasing perfection for perfection's sake is hollow, and what we’re actually seeking through perfectionism (it’s not what you think).
You’ll learn:
Excerpt:
“But the reality is, is that the raw materials are everything, right now, exactly where you are. And those raw materials are what you're gonna build on and create your vision on. They're the foundation. They're so important. So your energy that you wanna offer should be priority number one in your work. You should be prioritizing that over perfectionism.”Get the transcript and full show notes HERE

Join me this week as I share with you my answer to this question, why are we here? I'm also going to share some of my personal beliefs, where they come from, how I approach having beliefs that I can't prove, and my greater life vision, which I hope to impart on you as well.
You’ll learn:
Excerpt:
“So I believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. I believe that we are spirits in human bodies. And that we are here to learn and play and be challenged and grow and expand in ways that only humans can. I think of being a human living life as being in a big amusement park. We can go on rides that thrill us, rides that terrify us, rides that make us nauseous and want to puke. And we were like, why am I on this? I just want to get off this, like immediately.
So, how does this relate to you? Well, while you're here alive on this planet, I think your job is to have your unique experience in the amusement park.”
--
Questions for you to consider:
If you agree with me and you believe that you are here for a reason, you have your ideas for a reason, you're meant to express your ideas. Maybe you're working on believing that you are the perfect person to express those ideas. And you're here to have this human experience, which is like a series of amusement park rides.
Then, if you're in that place of believing that: what do you want to work on? What are you meant to create? What should you do today to support that vision?

Join me this week as I explore intuition and creativity (they are interconnected, if not two sides of the same coin), and the magic that they generate when used in coordination (FLOW).
You’ll learn:
Excerpt:
“It is actual alchemy - your brain + your inner wisdom is taking something and transforming it by taking the raw parts a level deeper, and making the invisible visible. By taking what only you can see, and making it explicit.
If you agree with me (which I hope you do), then you can also see why your energy is so critical to this process. Your energy is literally one of the raw parts that goes into this transformational ‘creative’ process. Therefore, it is imperative that you care for your energy, and that you nurture it for the invaluable resource that it is.”

Join me this week while I share my ‘Intuition Equation’. I break down the process I use to tap into my intuition to create my goals, and how I make intuition-led decisions along the way.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
Excerpt:
“Having that HOW plan, knowing every step, every how of how you're gonna do something, really limits you because you're only going to do what you can see. You're not going to explore or be open to other possibilities or literally the way it works is you just follow one breadcrumb to the next, to the next, to the next.
And when you can trust while you're doing that, things are so much bigger and better than you can imagine than when you are starting out. When you are setting the goal with what you currently think is possible for you. So just keep that in mind. It's normal to want to know how, the most normal thing about you, and also insisting on knowing how you're gonna do something will limit you and you will create less than you are capable of.”

Join me this week as I share the very big difference between trying to ‘be the best’, rather than being more YOU. We are conditioned to ‘be the best’ - 1. WHY? 2. Who cares??
When you compete to be the best, you cut off other facets of yourself that make you uniquely you. No one - NO ONE on this planet is like you. You are one in eight billion.
Excerpt:
“Why are we reducing ourselves to labels and titles? Why are we allowing that to happen? Actually, I mean, I know that we're conditioned, but we're perpetuating it. We're trying to become the best. Like it is that whatever medium you work in or whatever trade you work in is such a small part of you.
The quote I'm thinking of, I don't know who said it, but you contain multitudes. There is no title or trade or profession that could possibly contain all of you. And I hope that as you're listening to this, you're starting to see that. That it is not better to be the best painter, potter, writer, whatever.”

Join me this week as I do something a little different today and share an excerpt from my daily-ish writing practice with you. We're going to go on a journey from feeling overwhelmed, to a three-step process I do when I'm feeling the feels, and then into an homage to creativity and creative acts.
Excerpt:
“It makes me wonder about the cost of suppressing the creativity that wants to move through us. The desire is strong and how hard a lot of us work to suppress it.
To suppress the desire for these ideas to emerge for our creative acts to be acted out, to be created. It has a cost. The cost of not allowing this energy, this creativity, these ideas to move through us often leaves us feeling glum, uninspired, and even fatigued. The energy wants to move. And a lot of us work very hard to hold it in.”

Join me this week as I share with you the four step process I use (and teach) to find what’s in the way of feeling how you want to feel (and experiencing life the way you want to). If you haven’t already, go listen to Episode 19. Two Most Important Things I Can Teach You before this one - it will provide context about how to use this four step process.
Excerpt from today’s episode:
“Step number three is to be on to yourself when you feel the negative narrative take over. When you begin to pay attention to feelings, and if they're negative, you might start to hear more a more negative narrative about like, oh, I'm feeling terrible all the time. I'm feeling so discouraged. This is never going to stop. Right. This narrative will take over and it will get louder in an effort to protect you. So I want you to be paying attention to and aware of when this negative narrative begins to take over again. When you have dropped out of awareness, and you are back in this narrative and listening to everything it's telling you."

Join me this week as I share with you the first two concepts that I teach everyone who works with me:
You are not your thoughts (you are the awareness of your thoughts) and
You have an inner narrative running at all times - and how important it is to intentionally craft the narrative you tell yourself.
If you learn just these two things from me, it can change your life.
Excerpt from today’s episode:
“The first thing I want you to know is that your natural state is open, joyful, happy, excited, content, full of wonder, curious, effortless, and connected. I believe that like a hundred million percent, that is all of our natural states. And so we don't need to necessarily like, do anything to find those feelings states, I think a lot of us think, like I just need to figure out how to spend more time there, or I need to generate this for myself more often."

If you've ever thought to yourself, 'if I just worked part-time or if I didn't have to work at a full-time job and I could work for myself, then I would have time to create what I want.' This week I share with you why that's not true, and why having having time constraints can actually be supportive.
Excerpt from this week's episode:
"You don't need to blame yourself and say like, what this means about me, and that means I can't do this. Don't go down that road either. Just talk back and say, this isn't about time. And maybe even get curious, like if it's not about time, what might this be about? What's going into this that's causing me to think that if I just had more time, what else might it be that's contributing to this?"

Join me this week as I share how subtle differences in our inner narrative have a major impact on what we create (and what we think is possible).
Excerpt from today’s episode:
“Like that is such a privilege when you really think about it. If you are privileged enough to be able to spend some of your time creating a random idea that you have in your head. It is your duty to actually spend time doing that, and you can make it really hard on yourself and not fun and not enjoyable, and like really diminish your energy by telling yourself a negative story about yourself and your effort and what you're capable of and all the things.”

Join me this week as I share some of my own inner wisdom dialogue, and then expand on it with a metaphor that I think captures creative work beautifully. Plus I tell you how I consulted my inner wisdom for guidance.
Excerpt from episode:
“We are so often in a rush to get to the minute the project is complete. To feel all the feelings when we get there. We want to rush through the tiny tasks, through the becoming, the literal path unfolding under our feet as we walk. We don't notice the beauty in this unfolding path. And most of us don't find a way to find joy in those tiny tasks, but those tiny tasks are everything.”

Join me this week as I share the concepts of Bottom Up Making and Top Down Making. One opens up your creativity, and your intuition, while making. The other is rooted in perfectionism, efficiency, and productivity.
Excerpt from the episode:
“We don't know, but the important thing is that you're sitting down and letting your brilliant ideas come to the surface. Allowing space for who knows what is like working in your intuition or in the subconscious part of your brain. These ideas to come out and see what they become. And then make a decision about them.”

Join me this week as I share about what led me to reflect on the past ten years of my creative work. My top takeaway is that even if you want to improve and you want to keep working at what you're doing and want to improve your technique or learn new skills, do it from a place of believing in your skill, talent, and inherent worth. Believe in the goodness that you already have and build on that, rather than making from ‘I'm not good enough yet so I'm gonna keep working at it’.

Welcome to today's episode, introducing The Creative Collective. I am obsessed with making my passion projects, real things, taking them from idea or concept and making it real and holding it in my hands. Over the years I've launched jewelry collections, heirloom jewelry collections, made and sold pottery, collaborated with Madewell, launched this podcast, launched mini courses and a writing program, I wrote part of a book it's at 37,000 words and I fully intend to get back to it someday.
Side note: I don't think that there's any problem with hitting pause on a project once you feel like you've expressed what needs to be expressed, and continuing to let it like noodle in the background, or just be in a holding pattern while you get more information. I think that is a perfect example of being in touch with your inner wisdom and not forcing a project through or forcing yourself to finish it just because you said you would.
I believe the world needs what we have to offer and we are responsible for making our ideas, real things that contribute and touch the lives of other people.
I would have like fallen over with happiness to find someone who could teach me all of the things that I want to teach and share with you in The Creative Collective. That is my why for doing this work. All of the years that I was sitting at my jewelry bench making work, that I felt so compelled to make, but I was also overwhelmed by the demands of life and launching jewelry collections twice a year, collaborating with brands, growing wholesale.
I spent so much of my time asking, what am I doing with my life? What am I even working towards? Why am I doing this? Will this work? What if it does work and I don't know how to sustain it? I was just in constant thought loops and trying to predict the future and see exactly where I was going and know how I was going to do it.
I felt so compelled to make my work, but I didn't have any belief in why I was doing it, I had belief in the people that I was making it for, but I didn't have belief in myself about why I was doing it. And particularly like how much it mattered. And it crushes me to think back on that time.
The work I was making was so special and it mattered. And all I needed to do was keep going and I would have figured it out. I needed to keep trusting myself and doing what I had hunches about. I needed to allow the journey to unfold beneath my feet as I walked.
And that's exactly what I want for you, for you to learn any skill or knowledge gaps that you need to learn in order to keep showing up for your ideas and keep doing them and trust that you will continue to figure out as you're going along.
My goal is for every creative to have access to what they need to learn and the ongoing support to implement and execute their ideas, their project plans, their passion projects. And beyond that. Let's say you make your passion project and it's my dream for you to be like, I know what I need to do next. And I just need a little bit of support to get there, but I know exactly how to do it now.
It's what I sought for ages when I was a jeweler working solo and spending hours and hours and hours and hours alone at my jewelry bench. I think you can imagine it's pretty meditative work cause it's a lot of repetition, but just my thoughts would be circling. Like, what am I doing? How am I going to get where I want to go? How do

Write me a few sentences about where you're stuck, what's going wrong. Or something you might like some guidance on.
I love to think about this question: what feels hard that I wish felt easier?
Send me the answer to that question.
I'll reply with an audio note with a question, thoughts, guidance, or something else, I'll see what comes up.
I would love to hear from you, and I would really love to support you and help you figure out your next step or work through something that is stopping you.
Send an email at:

And let me know the obstacle you're dealing with, the desire, or wish, or dream that you currently have- maybe you just want to speak it out loud to someone. And also, if you have a specific question or something that you're noodling on, let me know that too. That's really helpful for me.
Looking forward to being in touch!

Have you noticed there’s an [unknown] delay between getting results from your efforts? We never know how long it’s going to take - to see results from our efforts. It takes the time it takes. We often have opinions about how long we think something should take and that attachment to a timeline causes suffering.
