Hi, I'm Kelsey and welcome to the Unwind your Mind Podcast. I'm the owner and founder of 'KPMINDBODY'. I'm a yoga teacher and personal trainer working within the fitness industry. Unwind Your Mind is a place to switch off from the outside world and connect with all things health, yoga, daily life and more! I'll be including free Yoga Nidras to help you truly unwind your mind from the daily hustle and bustle, as well as chatting with some inspiring people who can share insightful experiences. I hope you enjoy and happy listening x
Are you at a cross roads? Do you feel like there is more to life or more to you than what is currently going on for you right now? Then this episode is for you.
We are all wanting to live a happy, full life. So what are we waiting for? Share your gifts with the world and not only will you give that gift to others, but you give the gift to yourself too. Everyone is better off when you live in alignment & do what sets your soul on fire.
If something sounds too good to be true - it probably is. Diet culture is always telling us we need this diet or exercise plan to love ourselves or feel worthy. An industry that thrives off our self-loathing rather than creating healthy habits and lifestyles that will last us our lifetime.
This episode discusses why choosing slow steady progress is better for your health long term rather than taking drastic action for a short time hoping for long-lasting results.
Nowadays there are plenty of tools, books and ways that we are told we can improve our self confidence. But what's the difference between confidence and arrogance? Do you fear being confident because you worry that people will think you're big headed? Or do you have that voice in your head that tells you you're not good enough or you can't do something?
Authentic self-confidence is actually a huge part of being happy. This episode helps to identify ways to improve our confidence and helps develop understanding of how knowing your own worth is very different to arrogance.
Vulnerability can feel terrifying. Letting go of the idea of perfectionism, stepping into our own truth and taking risks. We all have barriers, we all have that shield or wall that we put up to stop ourselves from being hurt or judged.
What if we owned that vulnerable side of us? Allowed ourselves to be truly seen regardless or whether we 'fail' or succeed? Asking for help when we need it, owning our mistakes - surely this allows for more happiness and connection in the long term?
There are plenty of great quotes I could share on this topic.
This episode briefly looks into both happiness and choice. Are the two connected? Often we think life happens to us rather than for us. Action reduces anxiety and our life can (in most cases) be a result of the choices we make. Sometimes just shifting how we think can make all the difference.
This episode is all about the power of gratitude. There are so many benefits to incorporating gratitude practice into our daily lives for both our mental AND our physical health.
Included are some simple tips and ideas to enhance your practice of gratitude. Maybe you were doing it and didn't know, maybe you've heard of it but never explored it.
It's a great way to shift your mindset and become more present - two of the many benefits! Take a listen and put a little gratitude in your attitude :)
This episode has a small and short gratitude practice to help us bring back the power of the present moment. To have gratitude for the little things & reminding ourselves to make the most of the ordinary moments. There is so much we can take from the little things in life.
This episode is a little different to all the others! This is an introduction into the practice of Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra translates as ' Yogic Sleep' but it's not about sleeping! You are in state between awake and sleeping - a state of relaxation for the mind and body.
In this episode I explain a little about what it is, the benefits and then include a short guided practice. There are some guided practices you can do specifically for sleep, anxiety, creativity and many more. Apps such as Insight Timer are great to explore different styles too if it's something you may be interested in. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I hope you enjoy the practice and time to switch off x
'Health' is a word we hear all the time. How we need to improve our health, look after our physical and mental health and so many other phrases. But what does it actually mean?
Well, it's not a 'one size fits all'. Healthy for one person is unhealthy for another. This episode discusses several different aspects to health, factors and some simple tips to being healthier. Our health is for our whole life. It's important we understand what is healthy for us and how to optimize and prioritize it.
This episode talks about why it's important to stretch and the different types of stretching including static, active, dynamic and PNF stretching among a few others. Certain types of stretches have different benefits and purposes - this episode helps to determine which type of stretch is best to do when and why.
This episode talks openly about mental health and trying to break the stigma. I also talk about mindset and why that is SO important to achieving any goal. I include a few ways of how to improve your mindset and remind you that you CAN achieve anything. It requires putting time into you, improving awareness and belief in yourself amongst a few other important things too. Remember, you got this x
This episode is all about putting your full focus and mind into it - in every sense of the phrase! Not just in your physical body and movement - but in life too.
There are several benefits to developing our mind muscle connection no matter your goals. Take a listen and I hope it helps.
Whether you train five days a week or if you work a busy high pressured job...or both! Rest and Recovery is important for our overall health and well-being. The episode helps you to spot the signs of over training or over doing it as well as highlighting ways to rest, recover and why it is important.
This episode touches on the yogic philosophy of the 5 Kleshas. Klesha means 'posion' or mental affliction in Sanskrit. The concept is that the five kleshas are the route to all our suffering. By learning to control the mental modifications of the mind, we can find our true self and happiness. You don't need to be into yoga to enjoy this episode - towards the end I touch on how you can change the way you deal with guilt, shame and how to free yourself from fear.
PLEASE READ This episode touches on body dysmorphia and othorrexia and our relationship with the mirror. If this is a triggering subject for you, take care when listening or maybe head to another episode instead. If it's something you can relate to, rest assured - you are not alone. One of my more vulnerable episodes as I haven't ever spoken about this out loud. But I think it's more common than we think and the more we talk about our struggles, the lighter they are to carry.
This episode is all about the 'S' word. Stress! A feeling that I'm sure we have all felt or continue to feel in our daily lives. Stress can not only cause pain and worry in the present, but also can manifest into illness and physical pain. How can we reduce and manage our stress to keep ourselves balanced, healthy and happy? If you're feeling stressed right now...maybe take a listen!
This episode touches on what our 'Dharma' is. Our life's mission. But what does that mean? What if I don't know it yet? If you're at a turning point or struggling to make decisions then this might help you find YOUR truth. This topic also touches on the true meaning of Karma and how we can be the best version of ourselves.
Living in a 24 hour world, it's easy to get swept away with the hustle and bustle. The last year we have been forced to slow down. Have we already slipped back into a constant state of having to 'do' something? Busyness and productivity can be two separate things. This episode looks at why we may be busying our lives with constant distraction.
This episode touches on how we can combat a desk based lifestyle with movement, yoga and mobility. Do we need to exercise more as a result? And also discussing 'home vs gym' in terms of movement as well as work. Physical and Mental health benefits of each and finding the best way for our lifestyle.
This episode touches on the topic of change in several contexts. What change actually is and journal prompts and things to think about when trying to tackle big changes in our lives.
This first episode tackles the topic of Calorie Deficits. How can we achieve this rather than just being told 'eat less, move more' and the reasons why it isn't always that simple. Suggestions and solutions as well as trying to create a better understanding of our relationship with food & why we move.
