Welcome to The Karen Lee Show. A weekly show of perspectives and opinions on controversial topics that are reasoned with what the Bible says. It is not to slander, condemn or judge others rudely and disrespectfully but hope to steer them towards God's truth in love and grace.
I am very excited to have Elizabeth Woning, Co-Founder of the Changed Movement. The Changed Movement is a community of friends who once identified as LGBTQ+ & today, we celebrate the love of Jesus and His freedom in our lives.

You probably have heard many stories of lgbt individuals but not many stories of former lgbt individuals. We are considered minority of the minority and not celebrated for change. We are actually being persecuted for seeking the truth. Like any lgbt person, we want the world to know we exist and change is possible.
In this special recording, you will hear Elizabeth's story, talk about best practices and ways christian's should engage members of the LGBTQ+ community and how we can better represent Christ in our everyday lives.
In one of the articles on Elisabethwonning.com site titled “a better way forward with lgbtq” she wrote “Jesus is the factor that is most overlooked in the Christian debate around LGBT. Relationship with Him is the treasure that we are willing to sacrifice for. But, it turns out that His journey is abundant. His ways overcome theory, psychology, and philosophy. Typically, Jesus is the last to be offered LGBT identifying people. Instead, we are given a system of discipline to yield repentance.
Jesus saved my life. He redeemed my mental and emotional health—rescuing me from suicidality. He redeemed my identity as a woman and ultimately my sexuality. As time goes on, He continues to reveal Himself to me in life-changing ways as I aspire to live as He lived and assume His heart within my own life. I am a woman, a daughter, a wife to my husband of 16 years… all because of Jesus. I no longer identify as LGBT.
This is going to be a very impactful conversation.
The lesbian identity I had carried for 23 years had me recognised that it gave meaning and purpose to my life. It gave personal power and authority to my life.
It really gave me my voice. The first book I wrote and published 12 years ago wasn’t honouring God but Satan unknowingly. My intention then was to tell christian community that it was ok to be who you are cos of God’s creation.
This book encapsulated my journey as a lesbian from 5 years of age to young adulthood spent overseas.
I had been promoting heresy through my book and involvement in overseas lgbt events.
Growing up in a Christian home with conservative teachings had given me much fear. The main reason being Disowned by my parents.
The first time I heard Sy Rogers story, I was strongly convicted and thought “my goodness if God could change him then I am sure God can change me too” but I wasn’t sure what terrible sins I had committed except falling for the same gender. How could love be wrong? I murder no one. I rape no one. I abort no baby. And this was a period of time before the social construct of “love is love” the belief I had was God had made me a lesbian then
Obeying our desires is never a road to fulfilment. And, our desires don’t own me. Jesus owns me.
If someone tells me “hey I think God supports same sex relationships and I can’t reconcile with what you are teaching” then I said “ok let’s converse. And first tell me what you think the bible is. Let’s walk through together. You Tell me what you think and I will tell you what I think cos this will help me cos if we have a different view of the scripture it then it’s going to be pretty hard for me to move forward with the conversation. So we Nair have to pick our battles.
And someone who has a high view of the scriptures or take the scriptures seriously they are either taking an affirming view or leaning affirming cos they deeply care about lgbt people. They deeply care that the lgbt people experience love, joy, family, and intimacy. And if I don’t take that seriously And I don’t want these things as much as they do then it doesn’t matter how many bible verses I can quote. So then it’s important to ask what does the bible actually says that leads to joy?
I want to end by saying the gospel is the best case scenario for every single one of us. The gospel doesn’t say we are good to go. The gospel calls us all dead. If we have promoted the gospel that says gay people are wrong and the rest of us are good then we are promoting false teaching. We need to communicate a gospel that says all of us do not deserve this that is the lord’s goodness and the death of Jesus Christ. All of us do not merit this. And the gospel is going to confront us deeply at different place equally if all of us are being honest in front of the Lord but it’s also going to affirm us equally deeply. The gospel is a threat to our sinful self and that’s why Jesus called for us to take up the cross but to me the most compelling this is this parable in Matthew is the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field and when a man found it and in his joy he sold everything. He bought the field. The gospel sometimes means we have to sell everything but we are doing it for joy. The joy of what we found makes it worth it and if we are not about to communicate the gospel to show Jesus as that treasure then I think we have places to grow.
I, truthfully have found freedom and peace through the redemption of the blood of Jesus Christ amen!
Hope you give me a chance to hear my story and not call me a traitor or a bigot just because I am no longer living in a homosexual lifestyle.
