We Discuss each of our Generations, what relates to us, and what don't. Lets see what changed through the years from Baby Boomers to Generation Alpha.
Generation z is more politically and socially engaged and focused on their education, work life balance, and financial awareness, but is also skeptical of traditional institutions and may have a shorter attention span. Baby boomers were born in the time of a renewed hope and optimism for the future, and during their lifetime they experienced significant technological and cultural advancements. Generation Alpha is more global, more aware of mental health and technology integrated than previous generations. Baby boomers were part of a generation that witnessed significant change, among other things, in social norms, attitudes towards gender and sexuality, and the rise of new social movements. They are often engaged in civic engagement, including volunteer work, community organizations, and political activism. Generation Alpha is often more multitasking and adaptable than previous generations and is less concerned with conformity to social expectations. Generation Z is more diverse than any other generation, focuses on technology, and is more open about mental health. Taylor When it comes to communicating and socializing differently than previous generations, Taylor says she doesn't know. However, she does know how to work technology and prefers to talk to somebody in person, rather than text or call. In this podcast episode, the hosts discuss the history, culture, and traditions of Mardi Gras, a festival that originated in France in the Middle Ages. They talk about how Mardi Gras is celebrated in many parts of the world, but most famously in New Orleans, Louisiana. The hosts discuss the food and drinks associated with the festival, such as gumbo, jambalaya, and the Hurricane cocktail, and the fun traditions like throwing beads and wearing masks and costumes. However, they also highlight the problem of some people wearing costumes with the Confederate flag, which is viewed as a symbol of racism and white supremacy. The hosts emphasize the need to do better and show respect during the festival. The episode concludes by reminding listeners to embrace imperfection and take risks like children do.

Hello everybody, and welcome to advice from a child. You were here with Taylor and Baha. And today we have another anonymous person coming to you, which I don't blame her, because, lord, it's a, it's a big one. Okay, I am going to read it. And if you don't know the drill, then Baha, who is eight years old, is gonna give this wonderful lady her advice. Okay, here we go. My student to be mother in law wants me to wear her wedding dress. I don't want to make her upset. And it's not that the dress is ugly. I just really want to wear something of my own. What do I do? Do I comfort her about it myself? Should I have my soon to be husband say something? I don't want to start an argument. I love my soon to be mother in law very much. I just don't want this to become a thing either. I hear all the stories from my friends of how my mother in law sorry, of how their mother in laws cause most of their marital disputes. I don't want to be a pushover for something this early on and then not be able to put an end to it later. I should mention that my soon to be husband and I have been together for four years. However, we were living in another state. We just recently moved back near family, close to his family. She has that all in cap so I'm guessing, like right next door, down the street, or something. Now we are around them all the time. I realize it will be an adjustment. And it was what I thought I wanted. We said we wanted to be near family for when we try to start one of our own. That's another reason I'm so scared to rock the boat. They are just getting to know the real in person me. I am getting up in age, and I'm ready to start a family. I don't want any conflict getting in the way of that. However, I do want to feel comfortable on my wedding day. Any thoughts? All right, baha. Take it. Okay, so I think she should talk to her soon to be mother in law, tell her that she wants to wear something of her own. She doesn't want to wear something that she wore. But the mother in law us, listen, listen. Hello. Hello, everybody. Hope you are having a good day. You are here with advice from a child. I am Taylor, and here is Haha. All right, so we have a very, who complicated one today, very long one today. So if I get tongue tied, or kind of skip around a little bit, please don't hold it against me. No judgment to the person who wrote it. It's just hoof. Lord, have mercy. All right, here we go. My soon to be mother in law wants me to wear her wedding dress. I don't want to make her upset. And it's not that the dress is ugly. I just really want to wear something of my own. What do I do? Do I confront her about it myself? Should I have my husband say something? I don't want to start an argument. I love my son to be mother in law very much. I just also don't want this to become a thing either. I hear all the stories from my friends of how their mother in laws are the cause of most their marital disputes. I don't want to be a pushover for something this early on and then not be able to put an end to it later. I should mention that my soon to be husband and I have been together for four years. However, we we're living in another state. We were really We just recently moved back near the family, close to his family. She has all in caps. So, like I was saying, she must be right next door or down the street, because, yeah, all in caps. Now we are around them all the time. I realize it will be an adjustment. And it was what I thought I wanted. We said we wanted to be near family for when we tried to start one of our own. That's another reason I'm so scared to rock the boat. They are just getting used to the real in person me, I'm am getting up in age, and I'm ready to start a family. I don't want any conflict getting in the way of that. However, I do want to feel comfortable on my wedding day. Any thoughts? Alright, baha. Take it away. So I think she should talk to her soon to be mother in law and say that she wants to wear her own wedding dress, and say that. I know it might be tradition to her family probably did, like, passed on many times, and she probably wants that thing to go on, but she doesn't know that she wants her to. Okay, she doesn't know she wants her to where that but I'm pretty sure she thinks that in her mind, she would be mother in law think that she wants to wear it. She doesn't know what she actually wants to wear anything, so she might just be, yeah, maybe she thinks she wanna wear it. You know, if you wasn't verbalized, or, you know, like you're saying she's just getting to know the real in person, you so, yeah. And she doesn't know what she wants to wear at all, and I think she can, she could confront her, tell her, like, she wants to wear her own stuff, and they could start talking about what's going on and what, and she could be thinking, I mean, I know, a wedding dress, to most people is like their sacred honor, you know? I mean, she might feel that close to you, that she's like, here you can have the the best day of my life. Here you take it, you know. So I don't think she'll be as mad as you think she'll be. I didn't say she was mad at all. She did. That's what she's writing as doctor. I think somebody's super tired from school. What about with her husband? Do you think she should let her husband know? Or I think she should let her husband also talk to Well, soon to be mother in law. Yes. Soon to be husband too. How bad? Yeah, she She should let him talk to her and see if it's probably okay if she could wear what she wants to make sure everything to care to wearing. Yeah. I But on the other hand, I also think it would probably be a bad idea to send her husband to talk for her, because he might not wanna say anything. He might not wanna set upset her if he sang because it's when he had a middle night she might not believe. She might not believe him unless she says it. Also, I'm sorry if the mom were to get mad, I'm sorry, I know this is your show, I'm just, yeah, I I'm also like saying that he should probably not step into when they're talking. So when I said about the husband, just ignore that. I think that if you were to let your husband go in with all of it, that he could later on come to resent you or her being in have putting them in the middle if conflict were to arise. I always think calm, cool, collective talking between two people is the best form of action. And getting to know somebody, you know, it's always good to just sit there and get to know her, and that's how you're gonna know how she's gonna act. And the best way to get to know somebody is by asking them a lot of questions. So I think I know person. I don't know they You should probably follow some advice from the video that we're making. I wanna say for all the advice, cause you may not want to, but you can follow one of the devices that lead. That would be really helpful. Yeah, definitely. Goodbye, everybody. 00:00Hello, hello, everybody.
00:01
You are on with Taylor and and you were listening to advice from a don't you remember whenever you were younger,
00:11
and you thought like
00:13
you had the whole world figured out, right?
00:15
People would have problems, and they just seemed so little to you.
00:20
Your parents would be all stressed out, and you were just like,
00:24
well, do this, and it would all be fixed.
00:27
It was like, why are you all so stressed out all the time?
00:30
Well, you get older and that all goes away.
00:33
It's like you suddenly realize
00:36
that is not that simple, or is it?
00:39
Let's see if advice from a child can help anybody out,
00:44
if maybe that little innocence before it gets wiped away
00:48
can't do anybody some good.
00:50
So with our first person, she says,
00:57
I not in I've been with my significant other for almost ten years now.
01:04
I'm 39, and my partner is 43.
01:07
Long story short, my family disapproves of him, and it is tremendous stress that I need to address.
01:16
I'm not sure how.
01:18
I do not like confrontation, and am not the best at communicating,
01:22
so it ends up in a terrible argument.
01:26
Anytime I try to discuss it with them,
01:29
I want my parents to sit with him and have them discuss any issues,
01:35
any advice on making this happen?
01:37
She then goes on to say, I love my significant other and wanted to work more than anything,
01:44
but there's a but sometimes I am not a hundred per cent certain we're was best for each other.
01:50
That's important.
01:52
I could do a better job creating.
01:54
Must have things that he can do to prove his love for me.
01:58
I'm just not sure what any ideas.
02:02
Thank you for your time.
02:05
Okay, so, baha, what
02:08
do you suggest?
02:09
So I think she or anyone could talk to a therapist.
02:13
If you're feeling stressed, talk about your problems, talk about anything,
02:17
possibly to a therapist, or talk to your partner about
02:23
if something's more that you won't apply something going on between them
02:30
or somebody else.
02:31
But I'm saying for anybody who have an exam exact problem,
02:36
you should probably follow the vice mark say, or just do another advice.
02:45
Okay, so seeing a therap is very good.
02:49
What her question was two is, how can she get them to talk to each other about what it is that
02:59
they don't like about each other?
03:01
She could probably invite them to dinner, and without them knowing that her partners there,
03:07
but it might get into a fight.
03:10
So some of them might want to talk it out.
03:13
They come on China to make a
03:18
you about something.
03:19
Parents probably wouldn't do that in front of an entire dinner stores.
03:23
So they might be able to talk about public place.
03:26
You're saying, yes, a public place, okay?
03:29
Anywhere They might want to talk things out a
03:36
probably, if the partner went somewhere, they could talk things out why they don't like the partner.
03:41
They could probably say, if you're doing something bad.
03:43
But if they would have had, like, cameras in their house or something,
03:46
if they would have,
03:48
and why do you think they would have cameras in the house?
03:51
If they would?
03:52
I said, if they were, like, in every single bedroom,
03:55
without duck one, okay, without them knowing that.
04:06
See what you're I think, I know what your September you think that the parents think that something's up with him,
04:13
and maybe she should try and see if they're right?
04:16
Is that what I'm gathering?
04:17
Yes, you're gathering that.
04:19
So okay, she might have set up cameras without telling her partner.
04:25
She might have did that, that she may have the footing.
04:27
But what if nothing is wrong, and then she's doing all this?
04:30
And it's kind of deceitful in a sense, you know?
04:34
I mean, they've been together a while.
04:37
Do you find is the seafood?
04:38
Do you think
04:40
maybe her parents have a point?
04:41
It may They might have a point, or might be to see,
04:45
I don't know this person.
04:46
I don't know anything about them.
04:47
I'm just thinking that that might be what she should do.
04:54
And she should talk about the friend she's talked to,
04:57
the friends that she had before her partner, they should probably get but she should get their opinion on what they think about
05:09
him, or or if they know somebody that might spend a lot of time with him,
05:18
or, like a colleague,
05:20
yeah, like call if he goes to work or anything.
05:25
And everybody they might do all that work on,
05:29
yeah, so he might work at a place, or he might
05:36
have an online work where you talks to somebody,
05:38
and you might be flirting with somebody online.
05:40
But then, you know, some people could be loved by so many people on the outside,
05:45
but then behind closed doors, they're not the best of person.
05:49
But then she did say that
05:51
she didn't say he was a bad person to her.
05:55
Seems like she wanted to work out.
05:56
So I guess that's not the case in this situation.
05:58
So their opinions would matter.
06:00
Never mind.
06:02
Don't listen to what I just said.
06:08
Okay, now, she did say,
06:12
let me quote what she said back so I don't mess it up.
06:15
She says, I love my significant other and wanted to work more than anything,
06:19
but sometimes I am not a hundred percent certain that we are best for each other.
06:25
Okay, I wanna touch base on that, because so she did say that the she's not certainly sure if the best for each other.
06:32
And then you're not having a good relationship with your parents over a guy that you're not even a hundred percent certain of,
06:39
although they have been together for about ten years.
06:43
Yeah, and he might have been cheating on her all those ten years.
06:47
Well, where did you jump to?
06:48
Cheating too?
06:50
I've been doing my I saw about a colleague then,
06:53
how he might have got together with the colleague,
06:56
although you were saying to get information from the colleague.
06:59
Ah, see if the friends from information from the friends.
07:04
I misunderstood so he
07:13
So is it really worth breaking her relationship with her parents?
07:17
Well, I wouldn't think so.
07:20
I would probably choose my parents over anything like,
07:24
I mean, I would choose my mom over something.
07:29
I wouldn't choose my boyfriend if I want to be a teenager or grown up.
07:35
She says that now.
07:36
Hahaha.
07:38
Yes.
07:38
But I still choose you, I hope.
07:41
So why wouldn't I?
07:44
Well, sometimes you get all caught up in love,
07:47
and the only thing you could think about is this boy or girl that you're so in love with,
07:53
and nothing else seems to matter.
07:58
So I mean, especially when you're a teenager, I mean,
08:02
different things are happening in your brain.
08:04
And I mean, you say it now, I mean,
08:07
I sure didn't think that
08:10
I would be that person, because family was everything to me.
08:14
Was everything, sure enough.
08:18
Thought I was so in love that when my parents rejected,
08:23
I ran away.
08:25
But we're all good now, and I realize what a mistake it was.
08:31
Yeah, but I don't think I would ever want a boyfriend or a girlfriend if
08:39
it was a bad relationship between us two.
08:42
I'm just saying, if that that's my opinion to me.
08:45
But I think we're gonna end this here, because we're already 8 min in it,
08:49
so we're probably gonna end this year, and we'll talk.
08:52
Well, what's your final word for?
08:54
Or Anonymous person?
08:59
Okay,
09:01
anonymous person?
09:03
I don't, I don't know your name.
09:05
I don't know anything about you, but I think if you see this video,
09:09
you should follow some advice from the video.
09:12
Now, that's all.
09:12
Got.
09:13
What would be the one thing that you would want her to take from it?
09:17
What would be the one thing that, if she don't listen to?
09:19
Nothing else from the video, you think she should probably like talk to the therapist part.
09:26
And, yeah, yeah, that's what I think.
09:29
Now, anyways, therapy works.
09:30
Your therapy definitely works.
09:33
Yes.
09:34
Now, I was gonna say bye, cause we're already known in already so by now.
