Alice Dreger spoke to students at the University of Delaware and made the argument the academia and higher learning were 'sacred endeavors" -- Grandpa loved the idea until he saw the speaker had live-twitted her son's Sex Ed class from the back of the class and criticized the teacher. https://alicedreger.com

Welcome everyone to this first episode. You will hear today from me, Sam Simon, the Grandpa, and Emily Simon, the Granddaughter. We will be your co-host going into the future. You will get a taste today of our very informal style. We plan to be spontaneous, current, and thoughtful – maybe even provocative.

Why? Well, you will hear that this all started about 5 years ago on the beach at Lewes, Delaware, when I, Grandpa, swam out to join Emily and her cousins on a raft, and I just started asking them my normal questions. Questions like: “What do you want to do n life? “ What’s important to you today?” Emily promptly complained to her parents, son Marcus and his wife Rachel, and asked: “What does Grandpa always go deep and talk about these things?

Now with Emily in college at 19, and me in my 4th age of life at 77, and now a playwright and author of books about the meaning of life, we are teaming up to compare our history and views and hopefully offer you the listener to engage with us. We hope that there are those on both sides of the age spectrum who will engage us over time. We look forward to getting reactions and questions and to inviting others to be partners on specific topics as we, too learn from this experience. Send questions to Grandpathinksdeep@gmail.com.
