Vishal Telang is a movement cum dance maker, educator, dance theorist, bon vivant, writer, poet and so much more. He has been in a relationship with dance for over 20 years. With a strong background in contemporary and modern dance, he has performed in India, Europe and the US. He uses Ballet and Graham techniques as his anchor points. As a movement cum dance educator, he also emphasizes on teaching dance history, dance theory, anatomy and injury prevention. His belief that movement cum dance practice must be exciting and adventurous while being mindful and safe has led to him developing “Flosion” - A Body Conditioning Program. He is currently working on “V/8”, a movement formula that can be used in western contemporary movement and dance. This formula is designed as an approach to enhance western contemporary movement and dance by combining thoughts, experience and the 5 senses. This formula has been designed by combining the Indian Rasa-Bhava theory from Natyashastra and the western cognitive understanding of the body and mind.

Exploring the notion of Performance in Ambedkar University, paved ways for Sreelekshmi to question her practice and specifically the problematized space of the ‘classical’. Body is a major space of conflict that she has tried to converse with. Some of the major questions and processes for her practice are the politics of the figure of the performer, in costuming, in gender performance, the space of performance and in the body movements to name a few. She is currently self-training her body in ‘Mohini’attam in reading and decoding the performance tradition. She has currently re-started her training in Kuchipudi with Geetha Padmakumar and is also learning Kalaripayattu from Mr. Arvind in Kerala. Currently, she is working for her Masters Dissertation with the faculty of Ambedkar which is on the aspect of ‘Spectatorship’.

She is a Ministry of Culture CCRT scholarship holder and a Doordarshan graded artiste in the field of Mohiniyattam. Sreelekshmi started her dance training under Sudha Peethambaran at the age of five, in Kerala. She started with the forms of Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam. She later joined Geetha Padmakumar for training in Kuchipudi. After moving to Delhi, Sreelekshmi further explored the Sopanam repertoire of Mohiniyattam which was pioneered by theatre practitioner Kavalam Narayana Panicker, under Jayaprabha Menon at the International Academy of Mohiniyattam, Delhi and has travelled for various productions and programmes such as Nishagandhi Festival, Kerala, ‘Philippine International Dance Festival and Workshop 2017’, Konark Festival, Delhi International Arts Festival 2017, Hampi Festival and so on. She has also given various Mohiniyattam solo recitals in New Delhi and Kerala.
