Serge François (2002): Serge was a man suffering from a herniated disc, which left him partially paralyzed and in severe pain. After visiting Lourdes and bathing in the waters, he claimed to have been suddenly and completely healed. His case was officially recognized as miraculous by the Catholic Church in 2011 after thorough medical and theological review.
Jean-Pierre Bély (1987): Jean-Pierre Bély, suffering from multiple sclerosis, visited Lourdes on a pilgrimage. Lourdes Medical Bureau:
Purpose and Function:
The Lourdes Medical Bureau was established to investigate and validate claims of miraculous cures associated with the waters of the Lourdes spring. Its primary function is to apply rigorous medical and scientific scrutiny to these claims to determine whether they can be explained by natural means.
Historical Background:
The bureau was created in 1883, approximately 25 years after the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous. It was founded to address the growing number of reports of miraculous healings and to ensure that these claims were thoroughly examined.
Process of Investigation:
Individuals who believe they have experienced a miraculous cure at Lourdes can report their case to the Lourdes Medical Bureau. The bureau conducts a detailed medical examination, collecting all relevant medical records and documentation.
The initial assessment is done by a medical doctor who is present at Lourdes. If the case appears to be potentially miraculous, it is then reviewed by a panel of medical experts, which includes doctors from various specialties and from different countries.
Criteria for Recognition:

Official Recognition:
Once the Lourdes Medical Bureau concludes that a cure is unexplainable by natural means, the case is forwarded to the International Medical Committee of Lourdes (Comité Médical International de Lourdes, CMIL) for further review.

This was a tough podcast to do because it involved my patron saint, Saint Michael. But on this past September 29, the feast day of Saint Michael, when I heard about a “true” and a “miracle” story where he slew seven Chinese Communist soldiers in 1950, it got me wondering about some of the moral issues. What are the “rules” when it comes to Angels or divine beings killing mortals or humans? Has it happened before? Yes. And, according to the Bible, God and Angels have killed hundreds of thousands of humans.

These are some of the Bible stories to which I refer in the podcast:
2 Kings 19 – Contains the story of an angel of the Lord, striking down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night, outside the gates of Jerusalem.
2 Samuel 24 – The story of how God gave David a choice of two punishments. David chose a pestilence, and an angel of the Lord brings a three-day plague on Israel, killing 70,000 men.
Joshua 6 – “They devoted the city [Jericho] to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it – men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, and donkeys.”
Joshua 8 – This is the story of the conquest of the city of Ai, which God told Joshua to destroy: “When Israel had finished killing all the men of Ai in the fields and in the wilderness where they had chased them, and when everyone of them had been put to the sword, all the Israelites returned to Ai and killed those who were in it. Twelve thousand men and women fell that day – all the people of Ai. … So Joshua burned Ai and made it a permanent heap of ruins, a desolate place to this day. He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening.”
1 Samuel 15: God commands King Saul, through the prophet Samuel, to destroy the Amalekites, including every man, woman, child, and animal. Saul makes a mistake here and spares Agag, the king of the Amalekites, as well as some of the best animals. Saul incurs God's wrath over this and suffers later. Even Samuel gets into the act here when he confronts Saul about Agag (verse 33): “…And Samuel put Agag to death before the Lord at Gilgal.”
Numbers 31: “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites.'… They [the Israelites] fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man…They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses….. ‘Have you allowed all the women to live?' [Moses] asked them. …'Now, kill all the boys. and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourself every girl who has never slept with a man.'

Grace was born in Lehfed, a small town nestled in the mountains overlooking the fabled city of Byblos in Lebanon. During her time at Universite Saint Esprit Kaslik (USEK), Grace would navigate her car around bomb crates and under artillery fire to attend her classes before going back home to her quiet,picturesque town. That contrast helped shape her versatile designs and styles in both her paintings and architectural designs.
After earning her BA in Interior design and Masters in Graphic Design, Grace worked for several years in Beirut with several iconic clients such as the
Beirut-based Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) and the renowned playwrights and composers of the Rahbani Group among many others.
From 1992 to 1997 Grace relocated to Kuwait to help execute a series of high-profile design projects for the Government of Kuwait. Upon completion of the projects, Grace returned to Beirut . Shortly after Grace started teaching graphic design at College Centrale in Jounieh, as well as
Notre Dame University (NDU),Louaize till 2006.
Aside from her hectic schedule as an instructor, Grace designed several notable architectural projects during that period, such as the
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Rai’s Church , Saint Rafka.
Her artwork was also exhibited in the Paul Guiragossian Museum of Contemporary Art for 3 times. In 2003 Grace’s work was selected for the
International Architectural Biennale in Rotterdam, Netherlands and was the only Middle Eastern to be selected to exhibit her concept and project on
mobility and infrastructure.
While with the CDC in Qatar, Grace designed and supplied the entire artwork displayed in the St Regis Hotel in Doha, along with several other large-scale projects in the heart of Doha.
Her paintings have been exhibited in New York, Miami,Boston,Paris,Doha Kuwait,Beirut,Rotterdam, Berlin and Sydney with more cities in store for the 2024

In this interview, Dr. Getts discusses his very personal perspectives on questions of what happens when we die. Where do our souls go? How are we judged? Is there a Heaven and Hell? Is there such a thing as an evil being?
Alan is my classmate and friend, and we had the opportunity to sit down and talk about these questions. He is a very smart and accomplished man, a retired pediatrician medical doctor, with a very deep Christian faith. And he was kind enough to share some time with me. This interview was not planned, and I simply took advantage of his willingness, with very little notice or preparation, to sit down with me and discuss these concepts.
He was also kind enough to be recorded and put on a podcast! I wanted to include this perspective as part of this “The Soul Unleased” podcast, because I respect different opinions, and I want to present a more balanced approach through this podcast to these critical questions.

Today marks the three-year anniversary of the passing of our son, Matt, who transitioned at the start of the pandemic in early 2020. I’ve learned a lot about spiritual matters since his death, and I believe it is all because of the work he has done from the “other side” to wake me up! We enjoyed a close father-son relationship that was deepened by the events of the long crisis period prior to his final moments of the coma and his passing.
We all suffer loss differently, but if you continue to grieve over the loss of a loved one, then perhaps you may be blessed by this short podcast.

Who doesn’t have questions about the Truths of Life, right? While I don’t have all of the answers in a 10-minute podcast, I discuss some basic principles about what I’ve come to appreciate as “Truths” about life. They don’t always match up with what I was taught growing up. I also compare some of these newly-realized truths against some very difficult times, when “truth” or meaning to life seemed far away. I refer to some passages from Victor Frankl’s work “Mans Search for Meaning.”
“Man can preserve a vestige of spiritual freedom, of independence of mind, even in such terrible conditions of psychic and physical stress. We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
And, according to Frankl, we can live deliberately:
“Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life, he can only respond by being responsible.”

And these are some of the “truths of life” espoused by Mike Dooley:
– Life is beautiful, fair, rich, abundant, and filled with meaning.
– We are here to experience love to learn, to adventure, and to become consistently wiser, greater, and happier.
– Spirituality can simply be an understanding that there’s more to life than our physical senses can perceive and that there is a Higher Power that is greater and more loving than we’ve been taught— not male or female, but a divine intelligence.
– This Higher Power adores you, unconditionally, no matter what mistakes you’ve made.
– Hell and evil exist only in our minds, and enter our lives when we become massively confused.
– Redemption and forgiveness are guaranteed from this Higher Power, whether or not we even ask, yet if we ask, especially when it concerns other people, we free ourselves from the past.
– Everyone goes to “heaven.”
– Magic enters our lives daily, through so-called coincidences, “accidents,” and serendipities.
– People have good intentions, they mean well, and are each doing their best considering what they know.
– Everyone can be successful. Our successes do not have to come at the expense of others, but can enrich others.

When I lost my son, my wife and I suffered for months with very challenging grief. It was only through the amazing and unexpected appearance of orbs that we started to find comfort and a belief that our son continued to be a part of our lives. It led me to explore other forms of spirituality. I became open to other ways of interpreting our life’s path that were very different from my traditional religious view.

- Akiane Kramarik (born 1994) is an American artist who gained recognition as a child prodigy for her exceptional talent in painting and drawing. She began creating art at a young age and has since gained a large following for her realistic and detailed paintings.
- Tanishq Abraham (born 2003) is an American child prodigy who has made significant achievements in the fields of mathematics and science. He became the youngest person to attend college in California at the age of 11 and has since earned multiple degrees in various fields.
- Alma Deutscher (born 2005) is an English musician and composer who began playing the piano at the age of two and composing music at the age of four. She has gained international recognition for her exceptional musical talent and has since composed numerous pieces for orchestras and opera companies.
- Gitanjali Rao (born 2005) is an American inventor and scientist who gained recognition for her invention of a device that detects lead in water at the age of 12. She has since gone on to pursue a career in science and has been recognized as one of the top young scientists in the country.
And here is the story about the boy with the mark on his head from a previous life:
in “Before: Children’s Memories of Previous Lives,” Jim Tucker discusses the case of a Lebanese boy named Imad Elawar who reported memories of a past life as a mechanic who died in a car accident.
According to the accounts, Imad began talking about his past life at the age of two, and provided detailed information about his previous family, including the names of family members, his occupation, and the location of his home. Imad also had an unusual fascination with cars and mechanics, which was unusual for a child of his age.
Imad’s statements were verified by a local historian who was able to confirm many of the details that Imad provided, including the name of the man he claimed to have been in his past life. Imad was also able to identify his previous home and provide details about the layout of the house.
In addition, Imad had a distinctive birthmark on his forehead, which he claimed was from a head injury sustained in the car accident that killed him in his past life. The mark was consistent with the type of injury that Imad claimed to have had in his past life.
Tucker’s investigation of the case concluded that the details provided by Imad were accurate and could not be explained by normal means. The case has been cited as a compelling example of a child who reported memories of a past life, and the evidence supporting the claims was considered to be strong.

- Provide me some level of proof that there is a dimension that exists beyond our five senses

- And if I accept this “dimension” as a reality:

- It offers me some sense of proof in a life after death – more than simple faith has to this point in my life.

- It helps me be open to the truth in other messages about soul groups, reincarnation, Akashic records, and life-between-lives.

In this podcast, I ask some questions about the concept of “evil” and is there really a force, like Satan, that represents evil in this world? This is something that I feared most of my life – that the “devil” was trying to wrest my soul from the bosom of God, and therefore my actions reflected his success (or lack thereof) at that terrible deed. And I believed that there absolutely, no doubt-about-it was a force called “evil” that roamed this world. Now I have doubts.
I wanted to provide some Biblical context, however, for my thoughts today.
The Bible teaches that evil is a reality in the world, but it is ultimately defeated by the power of God through Jesus Christ.
The Bible also teaches that Satan, also known as the devil, is a real being who is actively working to oppose God and lead people away from righteousness. Satan is described as the “father of lies” and the “ruler of this world” (John 8:44) and is depicted as a powerful enemy of God and humanity. Satan’s ultimate goal is to lead people away from God and eternal life with Him.
It teaches that evil is a reality in the world, and that it is the result of humanity’s rebellion against God and rejection of His moral laws. In the book of Genesis, we see the first instance of evil when Adam and Eve disobey God by eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This act of disobedience brings sin and death into the world and separates humanity from God’s perfect and holy presence.
All of this is what I believed for most of my life, but that has changed.

This quick podcast is just a thought that I had that struck me as I was investigating astrology – something that I thought was downright kooky. However, I have met some very talented and serious people who practice the “real” science (art?) of astrology (versus what you read in the newspaper comics area for your horoscope), and they have given me much to think about.
I believe that our souls reincarnate many times here on this earth plane or dimension. When we return, are we born on the same date? Do we have the same personalities?

Here are some suggestions on finding a spiritual medium, based upon my experience, and I’ve used all of these methods. When you are hurting and in need of someone to talk with, it is often confusing about where to look, and you may not have the time or the patience to explore different options. This is meant to be a helpful guide, in order of what I found to be the most effective:
- Books and YouTube videos
- Recommendation of trusted friends or relatives
- Internet search (Facebook groups, Spirituality subreddits)
- Fame or “medium to the starts” reputation

In this podcast, I share my experiences with spiritual mediums, and I offer four suggestions:
- Go into the session knowing what you are looking for: contact with deceased souls or psychic advice.
- You get what you pay for. Find a medium with a good reputation, and don’t balk at paying for their time.
- Confirm that the medium practices “evidential mediumship“, meaning that they want to know as little information as possible, and they will provide evidence to you throughout the session that you are speaking with a loved or known person.
- Record the session, if possible.

In this quick “60 Seconds for your Soul” podcast installment, I discuss a gentleman that I met by chance during breakfast at a small local café. He took the stool next to mine at the counter – despite the fact that there were many others available – and we started talking. He turned out to be a real-life example of “Thoughts Become Things”, and how we can choose where and what we want from life. This man made it clear that he did not let anything stop him – his race, his circumstances, his birthplace. He was a joy to talk with and he reinforced my belief in many of the concepts of manifestation.

One of the challenges I’ve had while struggling with my personal spiritual awakening has been that it often seems at odds with what I’ve been taught as part of my Catholic religion. But one of the constants with spiritual growth has been the urging to “trust yourself”, trust what you sense as true and valid. Trust your feelings. For me, Christmas has always “felt right.” I’ve loved the warmth of family and the sense of hope and love that permeates not only our family, but our community. Can those feelings be wrong?
