Interested in joining a small, curated Leadership Experience this fall?

I'm creating an intimate, in person experience for leaders who are ready to step away from constant pressure, create space to think, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.

If today's conversation resonates with you and you'd like to be among the first to receive the details before they're shared publicly, send an email to info@executiveexhale.com with the subject line Leadership Experience.

The question in today's episode is....what if success isn't supposed to feel this way?

Many leaders have done everything they thought they were supposed to do. They worked hard, achieved their goals, earned the promotions, and became the person everyone could count on.

So why does success sometimes feel so heavy?

In this episode, I share why Executive Exhale is evolving and the realization that changed not only my business, but my definition of leadership and success.

Together, we'll explore:

• Why burnout is often the outcome, not the problem.

• The hidden impact of sustained pressure on our health, decision making, relationships, and confidence.

• Why so many successful leaders quietly lose themselves while trying to hold everything together.

• How redefining success can help us build lives that are both meaningful and sustainable.

At the heart of this episode is the mission guiding the next chapter of Executive Exhale:

Helping leaders build lives where success no longer comes at the expense of their health, confidence, relationships, or sense of self.

If you've ever wondered why success doesn't feel the way you thought it would, this conversation is for you.

You can understand your patterns. You can even explain where they come from.
And yet, you still find yourself reacting the same way; again and again.

In this episode, we look at why awareness alone isn’t enough to create change.

This isn’t about more insight. It’s about learning how to work with what’s happening in the moment, so that you can start responding differently.

I also share a bit of my own experience, including where traditional approaches helped and where they didn’t fully take me where I needed to go.

If you’ve ever felt like you “know better”, but still find yourself stuck in the same reactions, this episode will likely resonate.

I break down why many high functioning people remain stressed despite insight, rest, and good habits. This episode looks at the physiology of stress and what allows the stress cycle to truly settle.

If you are functional but depleted, and stress never fully lets go, Break the Stress Cycle was designed for that exact space. It works at the level stress actually runs, without adding more to your plate.

In this episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I sit down with life and career coach Sophia Mikelionis, founder of Gearing Together, to talk about burnout, boundaries, and the permission to pivot when a role or culture is slowly shrinking you.

We unpack what it looks like to stop outsourcing your self worth to your resume, especially for high achieving women and first gen success stories carrying invisible pressure. Sophia shares practical micro habits that protect your energy in real time, including how to use your calendar, narrate workload, and set boundaries that actually stick without derailing your career.

If you are a leader who feels overtaxed, always on, and quietly wondering how long you can keep going like this, this conversation is your reminder that sustainable leadership starts with small choices and a return to self before the next rise.

In this episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I sit down with executive coach Weronika Sobolak, a former Meta leader who built global teams and later navigated her own experience of burnout and stress related health impacts.

We talk about how burnout often builds quietly through decision fatigue, disrupted sleep, and gradual energy depletion long before a breaking point. Weronika shares practical tools leaders can use under pressure, including her Rule of Five mindset reset, simple ways to listen to what the body is holding, and how EFT tapping can support nervous system regulation.

We also explore what organizations do that unintentionally accelerate burnout, especially lack of clarity, feedback, and direction during constant change. We wrap with a grounded reminder that sustainable leadership starts with pausing, building a strong support system, and aligning daily actions with what truly matters.

This time of year can carry a lot. At work, we are often trying to wrap things up and keep everything moving. At home, we shift straight into caregiving, hosting, travel, and trying to create meaningful moments for the people we love.

On top of that, the holidays can stir up complex emotions. Grief, tenderness, longing, exhaustion, and gratitude can all exist at the same time.

In this episode, I talk honestly about how stress shows up during the holiday season, how our bodies hold the weight of the year, and why pushing through is not always the answer. I also share a gentler way to relate to this season, especially if you are feeling unsure, tired, or emotionally layered.

This is not about fixing anything. It is simply an invitation to slow down, notice what feels tender, and remember that you do not have to carry everything alone.

In this episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I sit down with productivity coach and podcast host Mark Struczewski, also known as "Mister Productivity", to talk about overwhelm, focus, and sustainable performance.

Instead of chasing hacks or trying to do more, we focus on simplicity, discipline, and small changes that actually stick. Mark shares why productivity is rarely the real problem, how micro breaks and intentional routines restore clarity, and why doing less can often lead to better results.

This episode is a reminder that relief does not come from piling on new strategies. It comes from choosing one thing, keeping it simple, and giving yourself the space to breathe again.

This conversation is for leaders who feel stretched thin and want practical ways to reduce overwhelm without adding more pressure.

In this episode, I share the impact of the recent loss of our beloved dog Kipper and how her passing revealed something profound about grief, leadership, and the nervous system.

Grief doesn’t only live in our emotions. It lives in the body. It affects focus, patience, energy, clarity, and capacity. For leaders, those internal shifts can ripple into how we show up, communicate, and work with others.

In this conversation, I explore:

  • How the loss of a pet can disrupt nervous system regulation
  • Why grief can make presence and clarity harder (and why that’s normal)
  • The science behind attachment, oxytocin, cortisol, and heart rate variability
  • How leaders can support themselves and others with compassion
  • How Kipper’s final gift to me will be/was unexpected healing and release
  • A gentle, grief conscious 5 minute guided nervous system reset near the end of the episode

This episode is for you if you’re navigating loss, supporting someone who is grieving, or noticing that your mind and body feel different after emotional shock or transition.

If you want grounding, connection, and permission to breathe again, you’ll feel held here.

This episode is a conversation about the real inner experience of leadership. We talk about what happens when your nervous system gets stuck in “on” mode, why the vagus nerve plays a bigger role than most people realize and how slow, steady breathwork can begin to shift the way you feel.

It’s simple, grounded nervous system education you can use right away.

I also share a little about my free/live December 2 workshop, The Deep Exhale for Leaders, where we’ll go deeper into this idea of resetting a system that’s been running in survival mode for too long.

And because this is episode 100, I’m giving one listener a little thank-you gift. Listen until the end for the details.

Perfect for anyone who’s been trying everything and still doesn’t feel relief.

In this episode, I sit down with Laurel Van De Torn, a trauma therapist who works with high-achieving professionals, to unpack what really happens when ambition and old patterns collide.

We talk about how trauma isn’t always a single event. Sometimes it’s the quiet stress that builds over years and how it can show up in our leadership, our relationships, and even in our bodies.

We also explore the moment every driven leader eventually faces: realizing that the same habits that built our success may now be standing in the way of our health.

If you’ve ever told yourself “I’m fine, just tired,” this conversation will hit home. Healing isn’t just about slowing down but it’s about finally being able to move forward with clarity, steadiness, and purpose.

In this episode, I’m digging into a kind of burnout we don’t talk about enough; and that is, burnout in men. Not the kind that forces you to stop, but the kind that quietly simmers under the surface. The kind that hides behind high performance, long hours, irritability, and emotional shutdown.

As an executive resilience coach, I’ve worked with very high-achieving men who appear to be “doing fine” but are silently running on empty and feeling very dissatisfied with their lives. Burnout in men often goes overlooked and unmanaged, until its effects begin to take serious tolls.

In this episode, I’ll share:

  • What male-specific burnout actually looks like
  • The physical and emotional signs most men overlook
  • Why numbing (not recovering) keeps the burnout loop going
  • Real strategies to protect your health, time, and relationships
  • And why it’s not weak, but wise, to ask for support

📅 Ready to stop holding it all together alone?
If this resonated, let’s talk. You can book directly into my calendar for a no-pressure, no-pitch conversation.

In this compelling episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, leadership psychology expert and health coach, Rachael Edmondson-Clarke shares the moment she collapsed in her office and how that experience changed everything. With over two decades of experience supporting senior leaders and Fortune 500 companies, Rachael brings powerful insights into sustainable high performance, burnout recovery, and the courage required to realign with purpose.

This conversation explores the warning signs many leaders ignore, the limits of mental toughness, and the role of nature, nourishment, and nervous system regulation in healing. Rachael and I unpack what it takes to shift from over-functioning to grounded leadership, and how to find clarity when the path ahead is still unclear.

Listeners will learn:
- Why powering through can become a dangerous cycle
- How to recognize the physical signs of burnout
- What it means to rewire identity after collapse
- The importance of nature, rest, and somatic practices in recovery
- How to take the first step when only one stepping stone is visible

This episode is for anyone navigating exhaustion, uncertainty, or the early stages of a career or life reinvention. It offers both inspiration and practical tools to help leaders reconnect with what truly matters.

This episode is a little different. It's more raw, more real. I’m not here today with a toolkit of strategies or leadership hacks. I’m here to speak from the heart.

If you’ve been moving through a heavy season, questioning your path, doubting your choices, or just feeling completely and utterly exhausted, this one’s for you. I’ve been there. More than once. And recently, I found myself back in that space, wrestling with grief, identity shifts, and the pressure to hold it all together.

In this short solo episode, I’m sharing my own experience with the "darkness". Not just the “tough day” kind of dark, but the deep, consuming kind that makes you wonder if it’s all worth it. I talk about ego death, misalignment, somatic symptoms, and the real reason high-functioning people still break down.

This isn’t about toxic positivity. It’s about truth. And it’s about remembering that even when you feel buried, you’re not broken. You’re becoming.

If you’ve been stuck in a loop of fear, fatigue, or regret, I hope this brings even one moment of light. You're not a burden. You're not alone. And yes, it really is darkest before the dawn.

In this episode of Executive Exhale, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Denise Brown who is a physician, former CEO, and now the self-described “Fairy God Doctor.” With over 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Denise brings a refreshing, no-BS approach to helping women in business avoid the burnout trap before it begins.

We talked about her career shifts, the value of taking a pause, and about her journey in the writing of her book The Fairy God Doctor’s Guide to a Good Life. What started as a legacy conversation turned into a powerful, practical guide for younger professionals (especially those 25–35) who are on the fast track to success and potentially setting themselves up for burnout.

In this conversation, we unpack:

  • Why “no” is a complete sentence and a powerful act of self-leadership
  • How to recognize the early whispers of burnout before they become a scream
  • What folding towels has to do with control (and why it’s ruining your relationships)
  • Why work-life balance is a myth and how I loved her take: “balance is a land filled with unicorns”
  • Creative ways to build community-based support systems that actually work
  • How to define your version of “having it all” without "doing it all".

Denise brings immense humour, honesty, and heart to this conversation (and I'm sure to everything she touches). This episode is packed with wisdom and real talk that every high-achieving woman (and honestly, every human) needs to hear.

In this episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I’m joined by Walter Dusseldorp, also known as The Dutch Mentor. He shared a powerful story that stuck with me. He said life is like juggling six or seven balls, but only one of them is made of glass. That glass ball is your family - but could also represent your health or your well-being. Drop that one, and it shatters. It was a simple but profound reminder of what truly matters, especially when you are leading under pressure.

Walter brings deep experience in mentorship, coaching, leadership, and personal development. We talked about what burnout really looks like for high performers and why so many leaders wait too long to listen to the signals their bodies are sending. This is a grounded and honest conversation about stress, resilience, and what it takes to lead without losing yourself in the process.

If you are feeling stretched thin or unsure how much longer you can keep pushing, this episode will help you reconnect with your priorities and take that first deep breath again.

This podcast is a space to pause, reconnect, and breathe. I’m so glad you’re here.

Want to book a call with Walter or inquire on the resources he has on offer, visit www.thedutchmentor.com. Alternatively, you can also connect with him on LinkedIn HERE.

Ready to stop juggling those balls? Consider booking a clarity and fit call or explore how I support leaders like you.

In this episode, I’m joined by Amita Sharma, co-founder of NourishDoc, for an honest and much-needed conversation about peri-menopause, menopause, hormone shifts, and the impact they have on women in leadership, especially those of us navigating the C-suite or other high-pressure roles.

We talk about:
✔️ What’s really happening in our bodies during perimenopause and menopause
✔️ Why so many women in leadership suffer in silence
✔️ How we can better support ourselves, and each other, through this transition
✔️ What Amita and NourishDoc are doing to bring culturally sensitive, science-backed support to the forefront

This conversation is personal, powerful, and long overdue. And it’s just the beginning—this is the first in a series of episodes exploring how menopause and hormonal health affect women leaders.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Is it just me or is it my hormones?", this one’s for you.

If you’ve ever felt like a fraud, like you’re just waiting for someone to “find you out,” I want you to know: you’re not alone. And more importantly? That feeling might actually mean you’re exactly where you need to be.

In this episode, I’m digging into imposter syndrome, why so many high-performing leaders feel it and how it might actually be a good thing.

I’ll share a reframe I recently heard from fellow coach and thought leader, Jeff Matlow from The Best Leadership Podcast Ever, that really hit home: “Imposter syndrome means you’re postering”

We’ll talk about how that shows up in real life, what it means for your leadership, and how to work with the feeling instead of pushing up against it.

If you’ve been doubting yourself lately, this episode may be the encouragement you may need.

  • Do I truly want to retire, or do I just need a reset?
  • Can I keep going… or is it time for a pivot?

This is your space to pause, reflect, and hear some honest truth about what might really be going on beneath the surface.

In this episode, I’m digging into something I see all the time with high-achieving leaders; especially those in healthcare, non-profits, and other helping professions.

We’re burned out. We’re exhausted. We know we need support. And yet… we hesitate to invest in ourselves.

Maybe you’ve felt that quiet resistance before. You come across a coaching offer, a retreat, or a program that sparks something inside you but then you talk yourself out of it. You wonder if it’s worth the money, if it’s selfish, or if you should just keep pushing through.

I get it. I’ve been there. And today, I want to unpack what’s really behind that hesitation, what it costs us, and how we can move through the fear and finally say yes to our own wellbeing.

This episode is for you if:

  • You’ve been running on fumes but keep telling yourself “later”
  • You’re carrying the weight of leadership and caregiving with no space to exhale
  • You secretly wonder how much longer you can keep going like this

I’ll walk you through the emotional and nervous system reasons we resist investing in ourselves, and why doing so isn’t self-indulgent but essential.

If you’re ready to stop surviving and start reconnecting to your energy, clarity, and purpose, I invite you to tune in.

In this episode, I’m speaking directly to the healthcare leaders who feel like they should have it all together, but inside, they’re running on fumes.

If you’ve ever wondered why you can’t focus like you used to or why your patience is thinning, or why you feel tired but wired all the time. It’s not because you’re broken. It’s because your nervous system is over capacity, and no one ever taught you how or supported you to come back to center.

In this conversation, I share:

  • How stress and decision fatigue are impacting your leadership
  • Why burnout often hides in high-performing, mission-driven leaders
  • How early life experiences may be driving your need to over-deliver
  • And how The EXHALE Method™ reframes recovery as a performance strategy, not a luxury

This episode is for the leaders who are holding a lot and who are ready to start healing from the inside out.

What if everything you worked for—the title, the house, the team, the success—left you feeling nothing? In this eye-opening episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I welcome guest Jo Stone, award-winning executive coach and founder of The Balance Institute, to unpack what truly happens when high-achieving women hit the top... and still feel unfulfilled.

Jo takes us into the pivotal moment of realization that despite reaching the C-suite, building her dream life, and ticking all the boxes, joy and peace were still out of reach. Together, Jo and I explore the deep disconnect between external success and internal alignment and what it really takes to redefine fulfillment, reclaim energy, and restructure a life and career that actually feels good.

Whether you’re a burned-out executive, an ambitious leader questioning what’s next, or someone navigating your own version of “having it all,” this conversation is a powerful reminder that your success story can—and should—feel like yours.

Here’s what we get into:

  • The burnout no one saw coming
  • Why so many driven leaders still feel unsatisfied at the top
  • The danger of defining success by titles, roles, or external wins
  • What it takes to build a life that feels like yours

In this episode of The Executive Exhale Podcast, I open up about the reality of executive burnout—how it doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes, it looks like high-functioning chaos: checking all the boxes, leading meetings, and keeping it together on the outside… while slowly unraveling on the inside.

I share my own story—how I gained 40-50 pounds, slipped into depression, and kept performing while feeling completely disconnected and exhausted. It’s a version of burnout many high-achievers don’t recognize until it’s taken hold.

I talk about the subtle signs most leaders overlook:
👉 Waking up at 3 AM with racing thoughts
👉 Numbness or irritability in meetings
👉 Decision fatigue and disconnection
👉 Overriding your own warning signals because “there’s no time to stop”

I also introduce my signature EXHALE Method™, a structured, trauma-informed approach built around 6 powerful pillars to help leaders like you restore wellness and resilience—without walking away from your career or responsibilities.

Burnout isn’t a personal failure. It’s a systems problem—a calendar, belief, body, and environment problem—and you deserve a way out.

If any of this sounds familiar, I want to invite you to take the next step.

Is leading with empathy really a weakness or too 'woke'—or is it the smartest strategy we have?

In this episode, I challenge the outdated belief that heart-centered leadership is soft or impractical. Drawing from leadership science, personal experience, and coaching insights, I unpack why empathy is a superpower and why leading with heart is a competitive advantage in a world that often feels cold and isolating.

You'll learn:

  • Where the “soft leadership” myth comes from
  • Research-backed evidence on the power of empathy in leadership
  • How to bring more heart into your leadership without losing authority
  • Five practical ways to lead with presence, compassion, and clarity

This is an invitation to lead differently—without burning out or burning bridges.

Barb shared powerful insights from her leadership journey and military experience, and we dug into what truly drives high-performing teams. We talked about the importance of trust, transparency, vulnerability in leadership, and why those qualities matter more than ever.

We also explored:

✅ What it takes to build trust on a team and why it's foundational
✅ Barb’s research on burnout in elite military communities
✅ Practical strategies for preventing burnout and staying well
✅ Why celebrating wins and maintaining purpose are non-negotiable
✅ The personal wellness practices that keep Barb grounded: faith, sleep, CrossFit, and meaningful connection

We wrapped the episode with a rapid-fire round where Barb shared her honest take on leadership, resilience, and the habits that support her success.

Educational Note:
In this episode, you may notice the use of the term "blackballed". While commonly used, this term originates from a historical context where the colour "black" was often negatively associated with rejection, exclusion, or punishment, whereas "white" was linked to acceptance or approval. To support inclusive and conscious language, preferred alternatives include terms like "excluded," "banned," "ostracized," or "rejected." By intentionally choosing our words, we contribute to fostering more inclusive and respectful environments. Welcome back to The Executive Exhale podcast. In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into a topic that many of us have faced—those moments when we feel triggered by a comment, a statement, or a situation that doesn’t sit right with us. Whether it's bias, offensive remarks, or just a response that hits too close to home, how do we find the courage to challenge without letting our emotions take over?

I’m sharing some personal reflections today, including a mistake I made in a recent conversation where I let myself skip over curiosity and went straight to battle mode. The truth is, while challenging others is important, it’s the ‘how’ that really matters. We’ll talk about how to reframe these moments, how to ground yourself in your values, and how to approach these tough conversations with integrity—without letting our triggers dictate the outcome.

So, if you’ve ever felt the urge to speak up but weren’t sure how to handle the situation, this episode is for you. Let’s dig in!

This isn’t about making drastic moves overnight—it’s about tuning in, getting honest with yourself, and exploring what’s next. And if you need support, I’m here to help. Let’s talk about what real alignment and fulfillment look like for you.

As an executive coach, I am seeing negative trends and patterns in the areas of leadership wellness. High-performing executives struggle to integrate work pressures and daily demands with their mental and physical health. This results in executives dealing with the impacts of chronic and intense stress, fatigue, or, worse yet, complete burnout.

Wellness retreats offer a restorative experience that rejuvenates the mind and body and renews leadership capabilities. Some say it's just a luxury, not a necessity. Others think they're purely about relaxation or that taking time off will reduce productivity. In this episode, I start to break down these myths and dive into the benefits of wellness retreats—why they're more than worth the investment and how they can benefit you and your entire leadership team.

Turns out that anything and everything your heart desires is an inside job! In this episode, I speak with Max Latimer, a coach/consultant who is also a heart-led creator in his life. His journey is bringing him to a place where he can help high-achieving humans who have lost themselves in the pursuit of more and to reconnect to and learn to trust in their inner knowing so that they can create and live a deeply connected life! We go over the value of raising your awareness around your negative self-talk, how important it is to connect to your heart and inner wisdom, and how real shifts can, and will, happen if you are willing to do the work.

In this episode, I tackle the topic of why investing in wellness in leadership gets a bad rap. This is a result of a conversation I had recently with a fellow coach around the wording of some marketing material...and I wanted to share why I think we really need to start shifting the narrative around wellness support in leadership. We need to demystify the notion of wellness and use the mounting evidence of why this is so foundational to individual and organizational success.

This week, I explore whether you have what it takes to be a leader? The hint: it's not what you bring to the table rather WHO you are at the table. Knowing what it takes - or who it takes - to be a good leader is important. Thanks to two of my favourite gurus, Oprah Winfrey and Rory Vaden, I share some thoughts on things they said that prompted me to share this week's content with you.

THIS IS A REPLAY OF A PREVIOUSLY RELEASED YOUTUBE VIDEO. Please see link below if you want to watch the video rather than listen.

In this episode, I ask the question "is authentic leadership overhyped or over valued"? I was wondering about this after some conversation with a colleague who claimed that the use of the word 'authentic' bothered her as it has been overused. I wanted to explore the concept of authentic leadership and review its roots, its value and its risks.

This week, I discuss the recent Oscar events in the context of how we can rebuild the trust in our leadership after we have had an outburst or a lapse in behavioural judgement. This week, I explore the value of completing a 360-degree leadership assessment - especially if you are a new or emerging leader. While 360 leadership assessments can make us feel vulnerable, completing a 360 leadership assessment can provide some valuable insight into how we demonstrate our leadership on a regular basis - and more importantly - where/how we can continue to grow as a leader to achieve even more personal and organizational success.

In this podcast, I share some thoughts on what it will take to lead during the current 'Great Resignation' era as we enter the post COVID world. How we lead during these post COVID times will be important as we move adapt to the ongoing pressures to be more flexible, compassionate, empathetic and supportive of workers being brought back to office environments. The post COVID world will require leaders to adapt and grow to ensure that they can lead their teams to a new state of 'normal' as we start to look at post-COVID work life.
