You probably have seen those impressive posts about lash extensions and becoming a lash artists. Maybe you’ve seen videos that talk about earning a pretty great amount of money by becoming part of the beauty industry. Now, you’re out there thinking about starting a career in the beauty biz. But at the back of your mind, you’re questioning whether you’re actually fit to become a lash artist or if you’d like being one.
I’ve been asked a lot of times about my career as a lash artist, usually by my clients who are genuinely curious about it and share so much love for lash extensions the same way that I do. It’s definitely a career that I’m passionate about but I’m not gonna lie, being a lash artist isn’t easy.
So if you have been wanting to start a lash career but you’re not sure about it yet, I would 100% recommend trying lash lift and tint course first to test the waters. Why lash lift & tint? First, you don’t need long time commitment with this during your training period. No long hours required to practice, not physically taxing as lash extensions and also you spend way less money for training and kit. Is this still a good investment for your skills? Absolutely! Not only will you get the feel of becoming a lash artist, if you market yourself successfully, you will get quicker ROI (return of investment) by doing lash lift & tints.
This has become a trend in the beauty industry as well. A lot of women are loving the idea of lash lift and tints being low maintenance compared to lash extensions. Your clients would only need to get fills after 4-6 weeks and the cost of the service is usually cheaper than lash extensions. The service duration is also relatively shorter so it’s great for busy clients who still want to have that boost to their lashes.
When you’re learning how to do lash extensions, it will take around 3-5 hours for you to finish one model/client which is a lot of time. With lash lift and tints, you can finish your models in about an hour and 30 minutes. When you’re a beginner, you tend to get distracted & feel a little discouraged when things are taking longer so getting those shorter service times might make you feel better, too.
If you’re still not convinced about taking a lash lift and tint course first, watch this video to learn more.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced lash/brow artist one of the most difficult thing to implement & be consistent about it is your policies especially CANCELLATION & SICK POLICIES. But if there's an important advice that I'd like to give, is to start these policies as soon as you can. No one likes policies but as a biz owner, you have to do it.
When I was starting I used to give so much consideration to my clients because I want to keep them & make them happy. In the beginning, I didn't see anything wrong with this but as my clientele grow bigger, I realized that not having strict policies about cancellation totally put my studio in chaos. There are clients who's gonna cancel last minute adding holes to the rest of your schedule. This has not happened to me yet but some studios experienced having none left on their schedule for the day or week due to cancellations.
The purpose of cancellation is to protect yourself, your studio and your whole clientele. You don't want someone messing up the entire schedule, making it difficult for other clients to book or have to move different schedules. You want clients who know how to respect other people's time and adhere to the rules.
Of course cancellation and sickness policies are different. In my studio, if a client calls in sick, I still charge them the cancellation fee but they can have it credited on their next appointment. I want them to be able to get back on their feet after being sick and get back to their self-care.
If you're having a problem setting boundaries in your studio you might want to watch this video on my channel and if you're looking to set up cancellation & sick policy. This episode is for you.

Are you thinking about switching to a heat-based lift system or did you just recently switch?
You're on the right track. So I am here to help you decide what heated mask would be best for your service. I have been doing the Luxury Lash/Brow Lift in my studio for nearly 2 years and it took me a bunch of trial and errors to find the heated mask the will give me consistent results.
So if you want to save yourself some time & money (I know I've been there!), check out this video so you'll know which one to buy. Please stop goiong for cheaper alternative that doesn't offer great quality because you might end spending more in the long run. We're also talking about electrics being near a client's face so we want to choose the safest option as much as possible.
Choosing heat mask that will work for you can be a little tricky so hopefully my tips and suggestions would be of great help to you!

New years always make us think about new beginnings, becoming a better person, finding a new hobby, and many different things that make us feel better. If you're a beauty business owner like me, you’re probably busy figuring out how to make your business standout…
The past year has taught me a lot of lessons about managing my biz. I was able to launch my online courses and my own product line which I am most grateful for. But the industry is always evolving & changing and that makes me want to always strive harder to provide the best service to my clients, help many lash/brow artists and create products that would elevate not just my business but also fellow lash/brow artists’ biz.
In this episode, I want to share the things that work for me in keeping my biz successful and now reaching more & more lash/brow artists not just in my province but also across Canada & US. My number one tip for you is to not let yourself be stagnant. You have to continue learning & practicing. If you need to take refresher courses or new courses to improve your skills & knowledge, take it!
Setting yourself apart from your competitors requires effort & hardwork. You need to do your research. You need to be willing to do things that you haven’t done before. You need to step up your game. You must be willing to sacrifice some things to. This needs a plan and so watching this episode might help you decide what you can do to your biz. Make sure to take some notes and if you need a little advice, feel free to DM on Instagram at @elevatelash.ca.

We've been talking about tips on how to provide luxury service to your clients. It can be tricky especially when you're dealing with adhesive issues or clients.
You can watch the first part of this episode HERE where I shared my tips about adhesive to prevent irritation of the client's eyes.
Your clients might have conditions or practices that keeps them from getting the most out of their lash service. You probably heard of clients not being able to fully closed their eyes or have seen clients with fluttery lids. The fluttery lids can be simply caused my too much caffeine intake but the inability to fully closed the eyes might be a condition they can't anything about. As lash techs, there are ways we can help clients with this.
Your taping method is one. There are tehcniques that you can do and of course, the type of tape to use is another great consideration.
Making sure that you use adhesive that is water-based is one of the best options, too.
To know more about this tips make sure to watch the second part o this episode.

We’re still on the topic of providing LUXURY SERVICE to your clients but let’s talk about ADHESIVES.
How can you provide luxury service to your clients through your adhesives?
Let me share with you my tips & tricks.
First, if you still haven’t tried water-based adhesive, now is the perfect time to consider switching especially if you have clients experiencing allergic reactions to your regular adhesive. The water-based adhesive doesn’t contain cyano-acrylates which most people are allergic to. You can prevent those blood-shot eyes or eye burning and provide a painless service that your clients can enjoy and look forward to.
I would caution you to choose the right water-based adhesive. I remember a lash tech who purchased from a different website since we don’t have our supplies yet. The client ended up having a bad reaction from that “water-based adhesive”. So be careful. Do your research and only purchase from reliable brands. Not all water-based adhesives that you will see in the market are made with high-quality ingredients.
Another tip that I want to share is the use of micropore tape. If you’re using one made of cotton, did you know that you’re actually creating an exothermic reaction? If you’re not yet familiar with this, it’s a phenomenon when you’re creating heat or releasing heat through the contact between your adhesive and this micropore tape. This contact then creates a reaction to the eyes such as burning, redness or irritation.
Want more tips? Make sure to watch the 2nd part of this episode to learn more.

Do you want to provide your clients with LUXURIOUS SERVICE that they want to keep coming back to?
Are you still using PROMADES/PREMADES believing that it's saving you TIME & MONEY?
Although the growth of the lash market is expected to be enormous by 2027, not all lash artists will experience growth in their businesses.
WHY?
Maybe because they are still doing practices that aren't helping their business grow like refusing change, not upgrading their training, not offering more services, not updating their prices, or not providing luxurious service to their clients.
Did you know that HANDFANNING is a great way to differentiate yourself from your competitors while providing luxury service to your clients?
Sure - it will take time, practice & dedication to perfect your hand fanning technique but you'll get there.
By the time clients are well-educated about lashes, they will be looking for skilled technicians and you'll be one of them.
So if you want to keep growing in this industry, start by handmaking your fans. That way, you'll be good at it & you'll be able to save both time & money while providing your clients with luxury service.

Beauty should be good & safe for you.
Did you know that it only takes our skin 26 seconds to absorb the products & enter into our bloodstream?
This is why it’s so important to research the ingredients of the products that we’re using. Since the beauty industry is not regulated in the same way as the medical industry, product ingredients & percentages are not often shared with the consumers making it hard to determine its safety.
So how would we know if the products that are being used in our favorite beauty services are safe or not?
You should ask your esthetician what products they’re using & you can start your research. In this day & age, where we can find anything on the internet, all it takes is just a few clicks.
Lash/Brow Lift has been among the beauty trends in different parts of the world. In fact, you will see a lot of DIY Lash Lift videos circulating online. Not because you see them getting good results doesn’t mean that it’s safe. It can do more harm than good. Who knows what ingredients are used to make those DIY kits? These came from countries where regulations for beauty products aren’t strict.
So in this episode, I’d like to give you a glimpse of what process and solution we’re using for our lash/brow lifts that we discovered safe & better for our clients.

Not every client is a good candidate for lash extensions or permanent make-up.
Giving your clients the freedom to choose services based on their lifestyle & goals is an important part of your business. As soon as we wake up, we are bound to make a choice - what we’re having for breakfast, the clothes we’re about to wear, where we are going, and the series of choices that we have to make all throughout the day.
So having a variety of options in place for your clients is a good thing. Some clients have thick/full lashes and want something that is simple & low maintenance. If you’re only offering lash extensions in your studio/salon, your client may opt-out of it because lash extensions require maintenance - a fill every 2-3 weeks. Not everyone can make that commitment.
Lash lift & brow lamination are good services to add because they aren’t permanent. They are good for clients who want to try a non-permanent service first before committing to something more permanent. It’s a great way for them to also access whether it looks good on them or not. They can go back to their natural lashes/brows anytime, too.
So if you’re thinking about offering these services, I’ll let you in on a secret to make your business awesome just like how it did with mine. Listen to this episode or watch it on your Youtube channel.

“Education or learning is not a one size fits all process.”
We all have different learning styles. Some of us are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners. Which of these are you? How do you learn best?
Aside from a bunch of decisions that you have to make before taking a lash course, one of the first things you have to think about is whether you’ll go for an in-person or online class. With the global pandemic happening, most of us needed to adapt to learning everything online. We’re used to attending meetings, conferences & training in person but with all that has happened, we have to quickly switch to doing these things online.
Does that mean that online is better than an in-person course? That’s where your learning style & personal circumstances come in. Are there usually lash courses within your area? If none, are you willing to travel? For in-person training, you have to follow a strict schedule of when to take the course. It usually only lasts for 2 days depending on the lash course you’ll take. Imagine getting sick on the day of your course, what do you think will happen? Well, it depends on their policies, whether you’ll get a refund or reschedule your training.
Online classes are usually learning at your own pace. It gives you the resources that you need & allows you to go back & forth to the materials to better understand them. You don’t have to adhere to a certain schedule & force yourself to learn everything in a day or two.
So what would suit you best? You are the only person who can answer that but let me help you decide. Watch my Youtube video below or listen to this podcast episode.

What do you consider the most when you’re about to take a course? The instructor? How much it’ll cost? The teaching style or method? The chance of your success in this field?
In this week’s episode of our Lash Course 101 series, let me help you understand the difference between a private training institute vs. an industry leader.
Some of you might already have a little idea about the difference between these two but if I were to ask you right now, where would you choose to take your lash course? Of course, it’ll be hard to answer if you haven’t weighed the pros & cons of taking a course in a private training institute or an industry leader - like myself.
Think about this as choosing where to have your lashes done. Would you immediately go after a lash studio just because they offer the most affordable price? Of course not! You want to ensure the lash artist is professionally trained, an expert in this craft, has good feedback from other clients & follows all critical protocols.
Your lash artist might be the person I mentioned above but is she also good with people, makes you feel comfortable, gives you proper education on how to take care of your lashes & are you able to reach out to her anytime? Then if she is, I think she’ll be a great choice, right? I want you to look deeper into your options when it comes to taking a lash course - the same as you would when choosing where to get your lashes done.
After watching this video or listening to the podcast, I hope you will be enlightened about this topic & you’ll be able to choose where it would be best for you to take your lash course.

"Don't do what everyone else is doing."
How popular are lash extensions in your area? Do you often get questions like “What are lash extensions?”
When starting a career in the beauty biz, one of the things you need to take into account is your market - your future clients & competitors. Researching about these things is necessary to guarantee that you’ll earn enough profit when you begin lashing.
So what if in process of your research you found out that there are already a lot of lash artists in your area? Think about this. How many coffee shops do you see every day? If you live in the city, probably on every corner you’ll find a coffee shop. Even in small towns nowadays, you can find coffee shops everywhere. Does that mean that you can no longer open your coffee shop? Absolutely not!
Coffee shops may look the same on the outside but every coffee shop is unique. Some use better coffee beans, have better ambiance, better customer service, better menu, or are more Instagram-worthy. It all depends on what the client/customer is looking for. We all have different preferences and we go to the place that suits us the most. In my case, I prefer decaffeinated coffee and I think not all shops offer that option. So I would definitely go to a shop with decaf coffee even if the other shops taste better. See? That’s how unique markets are.
That’s the same thing in the lash industry. Just because you feel that more & more people are becoming lash artists doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed in being one. If you’re passionate about it then you can find a way to make it work.
Think about what sets you apart from all the other lash artists. What are your strengths? What are you good at? Are you good with people? Do you have an eye for aesthetics? You are unique and you are your own competition. Be confident in what you can offer and see how far your passion & dedication will take you.

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” — Steve Jobs
Have you ever wanted to do something but you’re always left wondering whether you’re qualified to do it or whether you’ll like it?
I am not even talking about jobs or careers yet. Sometimes when you’re sitting there, scrolling through your social media account & see your friends getting busy with their hobbies like biking/hiking, painting, or baking. I am certain that at one point you’ve thought about doing these things, too. When something looks fun & interesting, who doesn’t think about doing it, right?
But it always sounds plain & simple until we do it. You might have joined your friends on a hike and realized that this hobby or activity is not for you because, in the middle of the trek, you feel so worn out while others were enjoying it. Every part of your body aches and you just want to go home & lie down. Maybe this is how it feels for the first time or maybe you weren’t prepared enough for it. So doing it again might be a good choice thinking you’ll feel elated this time, only to realize you have a bad back or your feet aren’t meant to walk long distances.
You see, some things seem pretty simple & easy until we look further and try them. This is the same with starting a career as a lash artist. Before you get excited about taking a lash course, you have to know whether you’re fit to do it. It’s not always about skills because that’s something that you can learn & master in the long run. In order for you to prevent wasting your money & time, you have to know the sacrifices you have to make, the things you should be capable of doing, your physical limitations & characteristics that should be innate to you.
So are you ready to find out if you’ll be a good lash artist and whether you’ll like it? Watch the video here.

“Trying to be a lash artist without ever trying lash extensions is like trying to be a tourist guide without ever traveling”.
Is it possible for you to be a lash artist without ever trying lash extensions? Can you be passionate about something you've never tried before?
Sure there are a lot of lash courses available. You can even choose whether you want in-person training or do it in the comfort of your home. These courses offer a wide range of information that you have to learn about lash extensions but I don’t think the course itself will be enough for you to be a good lash artist.
In my opinion, your perspective as a client is very crucial in understanding lash extensions better. You can use that experience to draw inspiration on how you can give the best lash extension services to your future clients.
I have always loved beauty services - especially lash extensions. I just can’t live without it. Getting the chance to experience these services and being able to see the great change it has brought to myself, had made me decide to pursue a career in this industry.
Getting that experience shouldn’t be complicated. You just have to find the kind of lash artist you want to model & get a lash extension service from that person.
So before thinking about taking a lash course, you should be a client first. Everything that you learn as a client will teach you about treating your clients better & wanting to give them the best service possible - the same thing that you would want for yourself.

Are you thinking of getting into the lash industry or did you just recently finish your lash course and not sure what to do next? This podcast is for you!
I’ve been in the beauty industry for more than a few years and nothing breaks my heart more than seeing a fellow lash artist give up on her dream. Starting something on your own is scary & overwhelming. There are tons of stuff that you need to learn and sometimes, we just need the right person to guide us to the correct path.
According to a recent article from MMR, the eyelash extension market is expected to grow at a rate of 6.95% CAGR from 2021 to 2027, reaching almost US$ 2.31 billion in 2027. Individuals are choosing specialized salon facilities for lash extensions.
Despite the pandemic, the lash industry is continuously growing at a fast-steady pace. This would be a perfect opportunity for someone who’s considering getting into the industry. Times have changed. You now have the option to take the courses online and be able to get mentored in the comfort of your home. If you have successfully finished your course and got certified, that’s just the beginning. You have to do a bunch of research on things in order for you to get started with your career as a lash artist.
Yes - it may sound confusing and overwhelming at first that’s why I created this podcast episode. This episode is something really close to my heart. I shared my experiences when I was still starting as a lash artist, the things that I have learned, and the things that worked and didn’t work for me especially when I opened my own lash studio. I visited Costa Rica before and English is not their primary language, despite that, the lash artist was able to do a really wonderful job with my lashes. You see, this is the kind of service that transcends different languages.
I hope that this episode will shine a light on your path & serve as a motivation to pursue your career in the lash industry.

“Being a mama can be tough, but always remember in the eyes of your child, no one does it better than you.” - Unknown
We all know how much hard work it is to be a mom. You’re not just a mom, you’re also a wife/partner, an employee or maybe a business owner, a daughter to your parents, and a friend to other people. These are all the roles that you’re taking on top of trying to be the best mom to your children and doing all of these every single day can be overwhelming.
More than two-thirds of moms (69%) reported feeling overwhelmed, according to our online, unscientific survey of more than 1,200 moms, and 64% shared that the past year has been extremely hard.
TODAY's survey showed that 83% of moms say they are doing 60 percent or more of the housework or home responsibilities.
Most moms, 60%, say they rarely or never take time for their own well-being, something Dr. Whitney Casares cautions against to avoid burnout. (Source, Today)
The causes of mom burnout are pretty much different for everyone but one thing that increases the likelihood of experiencing it is moms' lack of time for themselves. We often describe moms as the most selfless people but being selfless is not always a good thing. You have to allow yourself to rest otherwise you’ll feel drained and that will be a never-ending cycle.
As a way to celebrate Mother’s day and to honor all hardworking moms, I decided to talk about mom burnout in this week’s podcast. Many moms have been experiencing it even before the pandemic started and it has gotten worse during the COVID period. Moms need help. They can’t do everything on their own even if they want to.
Listen to this episode, share it with your mom friends, or every mom in your family. They need to know that they are not alone and the tips that I shared on this episode might be helpful for them to get through mom burnout.

"When you're green, your growing. When you're ripe, you rot." -Ray Kroc
When you are green that means you are learning, growing, developing, and becoming all that you can be not just with your career but with your personal life, too. But when you reached a point of feeling “good enough” or being "ripe" and not wanting to strive for more, that’s when you start rotting. Life is an ever-evolving journey which means that we always have to keep ourselves updated with the changes that are happening around us - whether it’s work or other aspects of our lives, otherwise we will rot.
Now more than ever it has become so important to make sure that we’re up to date with the trends, changes, new information, and discoveries that is happening in our career or chosen industry. This is not only important if you’re just starting off your career, but it remains highly important throughout your entire career, especially when working with clients who may demand the latest products, technology, and/or procedures.
According to a 2016 report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), adults with higher proficiency in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving have better labor market outcomes with greater chances of employment and higher wages when employed than those with lower levels of skills.
Currently, 45% of Canadians lack the literacy, numeracy, and digital skills that are increasingly necessary to succeed in jobs in the knowledge economy. (Source, Government of Canada)
Staying up-to-date is not only very significant for self-growth but also significant to keep the brain active and open to new knowledge. By constantly absorbing new knowledge your brain is stimulated into producing new ideas which can benefit not only yourself but also your company and industry. That means this is great way for you to level up your career and succeed in the industry. Going through trainings and other means to upgrade your skills increases your confidence, too.
In this week’s podcast episode, I decided to keep our momentum about career talk from burnout to keeping yourself up to date with the latest trends in your industry. I will share with you tips that will help you continue to succeed in your career.

“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.” - Conrad Hilton
We spent our youth studying and preparing for our future careers but not everyone ends up doing their dream job. Some people find it hard to find a career that will make them happy and satisfied. Some people are stuck but are no longer interested in finding another career. They just hold on to it because, for them, it’s the best option.
A global poll conducted by Gallup has uncovered that out of the world’s one billion full-time workers, only 15% of people are engaged at work. That means that an astronomical 85% of people are unhappy in their jobs. (Source, StaffSquared)
Did you know that an average person spends 90,000 hours of their life working? That’s 10 straight years. Imagine spending this much time on a career you’re not happy about. For the amount of time it takes away from your family, friends, and yourself, aren’t we supposed to choose a career that’s worth it?
Although in the beginning, I would say it’s definitely okay to try and figure out what you want. That means going for every opportunity you think is worth trying. No experience is ever wasted. You either succeed or learn. Part of the learning process is doing various things to finally determine what will make you happy.
Don’t be afraid to fail and try again. Real failure is not trying at all. When you try something and failed, it means you gained an important lesson. That’s the beauty of being young. You get to try different things, make mistakes and learn from them. That’ll eventually make you understand which among those things make your heart skip with happiness and excitement.
Many of us struggle to find a career we love and so I decided to talk about it in this week’s podcast episode. This episode is full of tips and my personal insights on how we can find a career that’ll be worth spending 10 years of our life with.

How have you been feeling lately? Does your usual “tired” become more of the kind of tiredness that doesn’t go away with sleep or rest? I know many of us have been experiencing ups and downs in our mental health even before the COVID hit but more so after we went through that period in our lives. Part of the mental load that we have to take is the feeling of “burnout”.
In the survey, which polled more than 65,000 North American employees, 42% of women and 35% of men reported feeling burned out often or almost always in 2021, compared to 32% of women and 28% of men in 2020 (Source, Time)
Although the World Health Organization classified burnout as a phenomenon that occurs at work, I believe there are many layers to it. It can also appear in other areas of life, such as parenting, caretaking, or romantic relationships. We take on so many responsibilities, sometimes more than we can bear, and that causes burnout to happen. Some people might be experiencing it and haven’t recognized it until now.
Managing burnout can be tough especially when you feel you’re alone. That’s why I decided to talk about it in this week’s podcast episode. You will have a better understanding of what causes burnout, its symptoms, and how you can effectively manage it. The best way to overcome something is to face it.
By listening to this podcast episode, I hope that you’ll learn a thing or two that you can apply to successfully conquer your burnout and recognize that you have to allow more time for self-care.

The boot season is finally over! We can now have fun under the sun but are your feet, spring & summer ready? You might have neglected them over the winter but don’t worry, now is the best time to prepare them for exciting activities!
You might be thinking that the sole purpose of getting manicures/pedicures is to make your hands/feet look pretty & presentable. Well, you can say it’s one of the main reasons why people are into it but let me share with you through this podcast episode the other significant benefits of getting manicures/pedicures regularly. It’s not only good for the overall health of your nails but it’s also good for your mental health!
According to Harvard Health Publishing, a 2018 survey of nearly 1,300 adults conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) found that as many as 75% of those surveyed had some issue with their feet, ranging from troublesome (such as excess sweating, odor, or nail problems) to the painful (such as bunions or stress fractures). And half of those surveyed said they have foot problems that are severe enough to limit their activity in some way. Regularly visiting a trusted nail salon, exercising, and wearing the proper footwear can help ensure your foot health.
Although your commitment to self-care by getting manicures/pedicures regularly can bring great results, you have to remember that choosing the right salon is an integral part of that success, too.
If you’re haven’t visited our Nail bar in the Kootenays, we offer various nail services from regular manicures and pedicures to gel polish, sculpted gel & acrylic nails, nail arts, and more! You can go to this link to book an appointment.

An SPF a day keeps the wrinkles away!
Should you be wearing sunscreen everyday? The answer is absolutely YES! You may not realize it, but sun damage adds up over the years. Even if you don’t spend a lot of active time outside, you are constantly exposed to UV radiation — on cloudy, snowy days and through windows. You read it right. Sunscreen is not only essential during summertime but it should be part of your daily routine. The UV rays can penetrate through your windows. This exposure accumulates and can increase your risk of skin cancer, premature skin aging, and damage over time.
Am I trying to scare you? Of course not! This is a fact. You can read through this article - “Trucker accumulates skin damage on left side of his face after 28 years on the road”, to better understand how prolonged exposure to the sun without any protection can severely damage your skin & increase your risk of skin cancer.
With this in mind, I decided to talk about sunscreens in this week’s podcast episode, considering how active our lifestyle is here in the Kootenays. We love to spend most of our time outdoors. I thought it would be timely and really helpful to have a clearer picture of how the sun harms our skin and why sunscreens are important. Not only that, I will help you choose the best type of sunscreen that’ll suit your lifestyle and skin type!
Did you know that sunscreen is essential after Microneedling or permanent make-up procedure as part of your aftercare routine? It helps with lash retention, too! If you're planning to get your lash extensions, have a permanent make-up or Microneedling procedure done, this podcast episode you'll surely give you ideas on what type of sunscreen is perfect for you. Protect yourself without compromising your selfcare goals!

Great eyebrows don’t happen by chance, they happen by appointment.
Summer might be the favorite season for most of us here in the Kootenay’s, but this is not the perfect time to get your brow tattoo done. The sun & sweat are your brow tattoo’s enemies. So if you’re considering getting a brow tattoo, now is the best time to do it.
The success of your appointment varies greatly with your preparation & aftercare, not to mention choosing the best brow tattoo artist. If you’re in the Kootenays, Elevate is one of the best choices. Preparation & aftercare consist of factors within your environment, diet, and lots of other little things. You might think some things are insignificant but they affect how your brows heal and last.
In this week’s podcast episode, I decided to interview two of the clients - Pasha & Elysia who’d been with us for a couple of years now. They’ve had different services done with Elevate but for this episode, we talk about their brow tattoo appointment. Listen to this podcast episode to find out how they prepare & take care of their brows and how they achieve the brows of their dreams.

With great eyebrows comes great responsibility.
Are you considering getting a brow tattoo? Then I highly suggest you listen to these 3 mini-episodes about how to get the best retention for your cosmetic brow tattoo appointment.
Making the decision to tattoo your face requires a lot of research and you should find the most qualified permanent make-up artist in your area that also specializes in the style of brows you prefer. If you’re looking for a cosmetic brow tattoo in the Kootenay’s, then Elevate could be a great choice, but the success of the procedure doesn’t solely rely on the artist’s hands. There are a LOT of considerations that you should take before getting a brow tattoo to make sure that you’ll get the best results and retention.
So what should you do before, during, and after your brow tattoo appointment?
That’s what this week’s podcast episodes are about. I decided to talk about this on my podcast because I want to help you achieve your brow goals and elevate your brow game while making sure you're 100% ready when you decide to get a brow tattoo.

“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.” - John Assaraf
Life is full of endless possibilities and opportunities but stepping out of our comfort zones can be difficult & scary. Every day we are compelled to make a series of decisions. The moment we open our eyes in the morning, we have to decide what we’ll have for breakfast, what we’re going to wear and a lot of other stuff until we go to bed. We always end up choosing the same things that we’re comfortable with. We’re so afraid to make a decision that is not what we’re used to. Why? Because our minds foresee negative results and that creates fear within us.
I recently had a really fun experience when I had my nails done. I realized how perplexed I was to try on something new thinking it was something not to my liking but ended up loving it. As simple as changing the kind of nails that I’m used to having had a great impact on me. This is what I’d like to talk about in this episode. I wanted to share how to get out of your comfort zone by turning fear into excitement.
Here's a sneak peek at today's episode:
► {00:33} How something small can have a big impact in your life?
► {02:49} What's comfort zone and the psychology behind it?
► {03:58} What gives you anxiety or excitement?
► {04:55} How can we overcome fear to get out of our comfort zone?
► {06:23} What small steps can you take to get out of your comfort zone?

You become what you feed your mind.
With all that has been happening around us, part of our routine now includes just scrolling mindlessly on our newsfeeds, absorbing whatever these social media platforms are feeding our minds. Without us realizing, these mostly trigger negative emotions within us.
How can we escape this? How can we sustain ourselves with healthy & valuable contents? I found the answer when I started listening to podcasts. I know podcasts have been around since late 2004 and started to become popular by 2006. I realized how beneficial it is when I switched my screen time to listening to podcasts instead. Podcasts have brought positive change in me and so I wanted to share how listening to podcasts can actually help you elevate yourself. Let this episode open your mind to the great possibilities that you can achieve when you start integrating podcasts into your life.

What is your definition of selfcare?
‘Self-care’ has become a buzzword, and some people see it as an indulgence or a reward for a job well done. But self-care – as defined by Tony Robbins is regularly doing things for yourself that makes you feel good. When you start taking care of yourself, you’ll find yourself feeling happy and better able to help others. Without regular self-care, you’ll find yourself more vulnerable to illnesses and easily succumbing to stress.
I understand that finding a fulfilling job can be a long, incremental journey especially now that a lot of change is happening in the world. So I thought it would be timely to talk about careers & selfcare. In this week's episode I shared the story on why I decided to switch careers and how it had helped my selfcare. Listening to this podcast will surely make you realize some things & hopefully help you find a career(just like me!)that is aligned with your selfcare goals.

Are you looking for natural ways on how you can achieve healthier hair & nails?
Genetics, age and lifestyle are just few of the things that can play a role in the growth of our hair even our lashes & brows and our nails, too. The truth is, some of us need a little extra help in this department.

It’s no secret that lashing is a form of art. Like fingerprints or snowflakes, no two natural lash lines are the same. Some clients have fine lashes so sparse you could count them, while others have rich lash lines that go on forever. Each person's individual natural lashes are all at their own stages of growth.
With this in mind, on the 7th episode of our podcast, we decided to talk about why handmade fans are better than premade fans especially considering lash retention. It's a topic of discussion among lash artists but Jenna believes that offering our clients handmade volume lashes means we're offering them the best quality service possible.

Are you consistently getting 40% lash retention after 3+ weeks? If not... we can help!

It's boot-season!
It seems the season of boots, tends to give people the idea that their feet can be neglected. The skin on your feet, particularly the bottom, is a lot tougher and thicker than other parts of your skin, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't receive the same TLC as the rest of you. In fact, it's even more important to take care of your feet in the wintertime. Cold weather, damp socks (from aday spent skiing outside), and overly-heated air can cause all sorts of problems like cracked skin, fungal infections, and "winter heels."
So we thought that this would be the perfect time to address one of the most common foot problems during winter - the nail fungus.
Have you ever heard about it?
Do you feel like your feet might be going through something but you're not sure what it is?
Do you want to get a pedicure for the holidays but you're too embarrassed to show your feet?
In this episode, Jane and I talked about how nail technicians identify if your condition might be a nail fungus and what are the steps that we can take to help you find the solution that will work for you.
We understand this is a delicate subject for most, and so we’re excited to be able to help you from the comfort & privacy of your home. Find out “how to deal with nail fungus” by listening to our very first podcast.
Here's a sneak peek to today's episode:
► {01:01} Jane had been doing esthetics and nail care for about 14 years and she's passionate about sanitation and health safety procedures.
► {01:37} Jane discussed about how people are worried/embarrassed that they might have nail fungus but after proper assessment, it usually turns out as not a serious problem.
► {02:42} Nail technicians can assess your foot condition but it's not considered as diagnosis. They can recommend products that you can use for your feet for homecare. Medical diagnosis can only be done by licensed physicians.
► {04:15} Elevate offers complimentary foot consultation that can be done over Facetime.
► {04:55} Elevate observes a very strict sanitation procedure inside the studio.

► {07:30} What conditions can nail technicians can work on to and what are the conditions that they need to send the client home?
