I want to begin this message by talking about spiritual bondage. Anyone who is still in bondage to sin is not a true believer, and there are certain manifestations which reveal to us that a person is not a believer, and what are some of those. Well, when someone acknowledges over and over sin in his or her life, this is a sign that this is not a true child of God, meaning that they have not been born again. Well, we are going to begin chapter 35 of this book of Numbers, and we have only two chapters left, all of chapter 35 and then the final chapter is chapter 36 Now, in this section, we're going to be very brief tonight. We are only going to look at an opening section, which consists of eight verses, and these eight verses relate to the Levites. We know something. We know that God is giving the children of Israel land as an inheritance, but we find that the Levites, they do not receive land, meaning there is not a special inheritance for the Levite, that Levitical tribe, but we are going to see tonight that they are going to get cities, and where do they get the land for these cities from all the tribes of Israel. Well, in this study, we're going to be looking at one chapter, and that is the book of Numbers, and chapter 34 God willing, we're going to do all of this chapter in this time of study. And what is this chapter about? Well, we see it's a chapter about the the receiving of the land of Canaan, and we see something very important. No individual other than our Messiah is perfect. Everyone has fallen short of the glory of God, and even though we find that David is a man after God's own heart, he was not perfect. We're going. going to learn tonight about this woman, Avigil, and this is a faithful woman who did not think of herself what she wanted, what she desired, but rather she was a woman who wanted to bless others, and we see that in her relationship with David. Now, when she approaches David, she calls him consistently her Lord. Why does she do that? Well, we saw last week that the children of Israel experienced a great victory, but we also saw that there was pride among some of what we might call soldiers, that when the Word of God commanded the people to divide up equally the spoils, some of the soldiers did not want to Do that. They wanted to keep everything for themselves, because these other individuals, what did they do? The scripture says they remained with the vessels, or we could translate that with the supplies, they did not go out and risk their life. Now, we can be assured of something, that every human being was created by God. Now God also speaks about working in people's life, but be very careful those who receive the workmanship of God to edify us, to build us up, to change us, to do that work of repair, and we desperately need God to repair us. We saw last week that the elders of Israel made a tragic error. They wanted to assimilate and be like the nations, rather than being the treasured people that God had called Israel to be. Last week, we focused in on godly leadership, and we talked about Samuel, the Prophet, how he was truly a godly man, and he led Israel well all the days of his life. But what about the transition we're going to see that Samuel had the same problem that his predecessor did. In the scriptures, we find a very important question. And the question is, Is God the one true God? Is the only god of the Jewish people? And the answer is, No, he is not. He is a God for humanity, and God has a plan of salvation, not just for Israel, but for all of humanity. He created all of humanity. Therefore He is the Lord, the master, over all human beings. It's very important that we see this, because it's very common, especially within Christianity and within Judaism, to make an incorrect statement. When a person studies scripture, one needs to realize that everything that is written in the Word of God has been perfectly inspired by the Holy Spirit. Again, the psalm that we're going to be studying, Psalm 149 is a psalm about worship. Fact, many of the last few Psalms dealt just with that subject, worshiping God, praising God and giving thanks to God. Repentance is foundational. We see that both in the Old Testaments and also in the New Testament. The grace of God is most precious, and there's only one source for it. And that is the gospel message. Now, in the Old Testament, the grace of God appears. In fact, there are two words for grace in the Old Testament, the most prevalent one is the word hesed. The second one is the word hen. But they both relate to the grace of God. In order to experience salvation, you have to know the Messiah, and not just his name, Yeshua, or Jesus. But you need to know the biblical identity of Messiah, that He is Emmanuel, God with us. Last week, we began a study of a specific disease. And that disease is known in the scriptures as our art, which is leprosy. And one of the things that we learned last week is that leprosy is a unique disease. Is God going to judge this world? Yes, he is. Is there any hope that this world will escape the wrath of God? No, there's not. The prophets make it very clear. We serve and we believe in a sovereign God. But the problem is this. Many people are confused or simply wrong in what they believe that means a sovereign God. Now every believer should accept that God is sovereign. But we need to understand that in the biblical way, God is sovereign. But that does not mean that everything that happens in this world, that God's the cause of it. See, some people teach this. One of the most important doctrines found in the Bible and believe me, it's found there is the virgin birth. Our focus in this study is going to be the tribe of Ephraim. And we know that there is a close relationship between that tribe, oftentimes the half tribe, and the other half tribe, men a che, why are the half tribes because men a che and Ephraim, these two sons were the sons of Joseph. And we see that God use this woman, because she was sensitive to the commandments of God, that she might be used in order that the Messianic hope would continue. We need to develop a plan for victory. Now our plan of victory is a plan of defeat for the enemy. And we have been studying the leadership of Joshua, he is a faithful man. The God of Israel is the god overall. That means no matter who you are, you are going to be judged by God. Ultimately, God has given all issues and matters related to judgment to his son, Messiah, Yeshua, Jesus Christ. So the question that you and I must answer, if not, now, we can wait till it's too late. When we go before him, and ask that question, are we going to come through judgment, left to ourselves, based upon our works, who we are what we have done, we will not come through God's judgment, we will be eternally consumed and a recipient of God's punishment, his eternal punishment, we know biblically, only through the Redeemer, and the Redeemer is Messiah.
