The season spanning over the second half of November ended and here's my usual summary of it.
My incursion in the gold league has paid off. I wasn't able to secure as many chests as I normally would in silver but the quality was definetely improved.
You can easily see by comparing the SPS rewards I got. I closed the season with about 75 SPS to my name (accrued from both battles and chests) while in silver that number used to be somewhat closer to 50.
Card quality seems to be slightly improved as well. Although I didn't pull anything crazy I do have a couple more gold foil commons as well as one extra Djinn Renova.
I also received a pack from my daily focus during the season, bringing my total to 12.
Although the upgrade from silver I to gold III and whatever I achieved, I did with little to no rentals.. I still think it might be more conveniente for me to figure out an exit strategy and drop back to silver in the upcoming season.
That's the league where I can be more competitive right now and I don't mind some lesser returns for some additional peace of mind when it comes to battling tough opponents.
I will definetely consider playing in gold again in the future as soon as I will have enough power to be able to fight in the upper divisions; in that sense there's still a bit of a way to go for me but the steady influx of cards from daily playing is muchly appreciated and helps in the long run.
I couldn't resist the tempting prices, partially caused to drop a bit further by the FTX fiasco from a couple weeks ago and the ripples it caused in the overall crypto market.
Hard to imagine the prices of chaos legion cards will drop much further than that so I figured it would be a good time to take some off the market.
Specifically, I went on a bit of a shopping spree and improved my collection, focusing mostly on chaos legion and death cards.
I now have a Thaddius Brood summoner maxed out for the silver league.
I also, finally, bought some riftwatchers cards. Nothing too crazy, I just purchased a few copies of the most pivotal rares and commons.
Here's a rundown of everything that I bought recently, in spreadsheet form since it couldn't make it into the video for the end of season.
I am very curious to see what the new airdropped cards will be and my next purchases will partially depend on that as well.
In order to be fully competitive in silver I will have to purchase a life summoner as well as a dragon one but for now I'm very happy with what I've got.
I've been enjoying the guild brawls, especially now that there's some extra motivation to do well in them in the form of SPS rewards. I've been getting around 3 or 4 tokens for each brawl and I've donated back those amount to the guild in order to have it grow a bit.
I reccomend anyone who's still sitting on the fence to give guilds a try, there's many that don't require big donations and it's nice to see them slowly improve over time and receive some gladius cards in the process too.
My guild specifically, is looking for more active members so let me know by commenting if you're interested and want to give it a try.

The splinterlands season spanning over the first half of November has ended.
This was a moment in time characterized by some heavy turbulence as far as the world of crypto is concerned.
Hopefully nothing as dramatic will happen for the remainder of 2022.
What caused this mayhem was the capitulation of the FTX crypto exchange.
Many hyperbolic statements have been made; it will be interesting, somewhere down the line, to look back at this moment characterized by uncertainty.
Personally, in this little time capsule I'd like to include a snapshot of the current state of the market.
There's many assets that one could potentially acquire at this moment in time.. DEC, SPS, vouchers, packs and so on..
I've reasoned and I definetely think I want to keep focusing on improving my chaos legion collection further rather than trying to get something going on with the riftwatchers set.
The big opening of the end of season chests was particularly underwhelming this time around.
A couple of epic cards, specifically a revealer and a djinn chwalla, were the best of the bunch.
However, as the video testifies, there were a lot of potions and very limited SPS rewards.
Aside from that, during the whole season I was able to put aside 55 SPS from the daily chests and battle rewards.
Guild brawls started paying out in SPS as well and as a reward for the contribution in my small guild I earned 3 additional SPS tokens or therebaouts.
For the sake of completion I also included the 11 chests I couldn't quite open yet during the recording.
As you can notice by the slight increase in quality these are gold chests rather than my ususal silver chests.
So far I've always been battling in silver but this season I messed up and at one point I advanced into the gold league by mistake.
Now, this isn't the end of the world and it actually gives me the option to see for myself, in my very specific situation, what the difference between playing in the two leagues with minimal rentals is.
As a result of playing in gold I will be earning slightly better rewards for my daily focuses, it will basically be a straight-up upgrade.
However the end of season chests will be a different story as I won't be able to open as many and it remains to be seen wether or not the better odds for packs, better cards and more SPS will make up for the difference.
Depending on how it will go I will decide wether to remain in gold or choose the painful road and drop back down to silver for the season after the current one.
As far as the rising star accounting is concerned, during the 15 days period I was able to earn around 30k starbits, which are worth around 0,29$ currently.

The season spanning from October 16th to October 31st has ended.
As is often the case with these season recaps the end of season rewards weren't necessarily the best but I'm always very happy to see this steady stream of small rewards nonetheless.
The high point of the season was actually a reward from a daily focus that came in the form of a chaos legion pack.
I've been able to get nine for free, so far.
My idea was to wait for them to go out of print altogether and see how many I could have gotten by that point but maybe it'd be more fun to open them all up at some point in the near future and try my luck.
As far as SPS rewards go, I was able to end the season with 61 extra tokens after spending the majority of the time in Silver I.
Last season yielded 44 SPS which brings the total to 105, roughly the equivalent of 6$ at the current pricing of the token.
Think I'll get more and more into the habit of unstaking it to do some card shopping funded by my income within the game.
Moving forward I will try to do some Rising Star accounting as well.
I recently upgraded my character. curious to see how much I will be able to earn over 15 days after this upgrade but I haven't decided yet if I will reinvest the starbits I'll earn or put them into Splinterlands instead.

Another season comes to an end and this time around the most valuable reward is a rare, gold foil vampiric blossom.
I only have a level 3 Obsidian to pair it up with so it's not a card I use most of the time.
Even under specific rulesets I usually choose Iza and the venari seedsmith over the plant.
A change in perspective might occur once I get to play with the upcoming earth summoner from the Riftwatchers mini-edition as he will grant the close range ability.
All in all, the end of season chests weren't the most exciting this time around either but I'm always happy to get a consistent stream of sps and cards every day.
The highlight of this season was definetely a chaos legion pack that I got as a reward in one of my daily chests.
I've also expanded my little fleet of cards that I'm renting out, as you can see here.
I can't wait to combine the Baakjiras and take them out for a spin, what a fantastic card!
For now, however, I can do without it just fine in silver and I'd rather rely on a small but steady income of DEC.
There's still so much I want to buy while it's still cheap and in print and I don't know if my budget will allow that.
I've slowly come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to buy all the cards that I might need to be as competitive as possible, even just in silver.
I was planning on buying two or three legendary summoners but I still need to buy some key monsters and I imagine I'll want to spend a nice chunk on riftwatchers cards as well.
I plan on doing some chaos legion shopping once we hit the next chaos legion milestone and the legendary fire summoner will be airdropped, in hopes that many packs will be opened and the prices of cards might go down slightly.
Watch through the video if you wanna have a laugh at my expense as I try to locate the page for the Riftwatchers sale.

Another season ended!
The chests didn't contain any statistical outliers. Not in the good sense, anyway.
I'm still very happy to gather all these reward cards. Ditto for the SPS!
I also saved my very first gladius pack for the occasion of the end of season update and it was actually an exciting opening.

These were the yields from the pack.
I'm not going to look up the stats of the cards as they get leveled up and save the wonder of the discovery for when I will eventually get more copies.
As a first impression, Isgald Vorst has a weird distribution of stats but seems solid overall. The lvl3 version, that is.
Something I'm noticing only in retrospect is how the colored labels behind the names of these gladius cards represent their splinters.
I'm very bad with visual clues and such when it comes to this game.
Isgald Vorst is actually from the water team and he will pair up very nicely with deep lurker and the other agressive melee units from chaos legion!
Liza Fox looks very foxy and will be competing with dhampir stalker whenever I'm stuck with the death splinter.
The extra damage she gets over her competitor in her base form makes her very appealing.
Katrelba Gobson has below average speed and modest stats in general but her combination of abilities is the one that can snowball out of control in the most explosive way out of all these.
I look forward to using her, maybe in conjunction with Liza, the Fanged.
Alva the crusher looks very intimidating and it's another card that I'm finding interesting.
I'm using mostly just chaos legion and reward cards so my choices for tanks are somewhat limited.
Diemon shark, Djinn Oshannus and wave brood do a great job of it and for low mana matches the choice is between cruel sethropod and the slippery xenith monk.
However I'm finding that for inbetween situations or matches with very specific restrictions I'm sometimes having trouble finding a solid first position tank so this new card will be useful, for sure.
Alfredo is a bit more basic but with the bloodlust ability it will be a straight-up upgrade to my lvl1 Igor Darkspear!
I can't wait to earn more gladius cases and further bolster my collection.
The future looks very bright with many new exciting things like Riftwatchers and the new fire summoner being released soon enough!

This time around I don't get a pack but I walk away with more than 5000 $DEC and a golden common for my troubles
https://3speak.tv/watch?v=papageno26/lhkpioxj
This second season I've been more busy but I've still got more than fifty chests to my name.
Only five of them ended up containing venari heathsmiths.
I also get a few extra copies of vulguine and merdhampir, can't wait to level them up for silver and take them out for a spin.
But perhaps most importantly, I get a pack! As always the system is very generous and it feels very rewarding to redeem all this stuff at once.
https://3speak.tv/watch?v=papageno26/ddlknbxc
At the culmination of this very first season after the reward changes I have sixty chests to my name.
The contents aren't necessarily too high in value. Specifically, I noticed an upsetting amount of heathsmiths.
Oh, variance.. what a cruel mistress!
I did get, however, two copies of the new "vulguine" card. A first, for me. Plus, a nice boon of DEC.
This is still WAY, way more than what I would have been able to earn in the old system so I'm very thankful, excited and eager to get more of the same in the next season.

A lucky streak of four consecutive battles featuring the poison ruleset, where the Forgotten One dominates.
Make sure to buy at least one copy while it's still going for only a few dollars.
