In this week's episode, we discuss how much social media influences our thoughts and actions. It is very easy to be influenced by social media as we are constantly consuming it, and we can often find ourselves believing everything we see on the internet. This episode talks about why it is so important to desensitize ourselves to social media and remember that a large majority of it is an opinion and others deflecting their own insecurities onto the internet. Just because someone states something to be true when it comes to friendships or relationships does not mean you should apply it to yourself. It is much more likely that it is a reflection of their own experiences and there is no one rule that will apply to everyone. Live your life the best way you can inform by your own experiences and think carefully about how much of social media you believe to be true.

In this week's episode we talk about how important it is to understand the differences we have with others. So many confrontations and problems arise when we find someone acting in a way we wouldn't ourselves. It is very easy to misinterpret this as feeling as though they're doing something wrong just because they're not doing it our way. Learning that others being different doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong will help you navigate a lot of your relationships in a much healthier way. The only way we can apply this to our life is by making the effort to understand our own behaviour and why we do the things we do in order to try and understand others. This episode helps to advise how you can go about understanding yourself better.

In this week's episode we talk about learning how to respond rather than react to a situation. Often we can find ourselves reacting in the moment to a situation and when we do this we can often come to regret the way we have acted based on emotions. Although it is not always possible it will help you so much if you learn how to take the time to process a situation and consider what the best way is to respond. Many arguments escalate and don't lead to a resolution as easily and calmly as they should because we are acting off emotions, when we take the time to respond in a healthy way we will find that problems are solved a lot easier and in a less harmful way. Have a listen to this episode if you'd like some advice with how to do this.

In today's episode we talk about the way in which our anxiety can often negatively affect the way we view the relationships we have in our life. This episode hopes to help anyone acknowledge that the way they think or feel about certain things may be irrational. Learning to acknowledge when a thought is irrational or is due to our anxiety, can help us to challenge these thoughts and feel better our relationships. This episode also goes through some healthy coping techniques for times when we feel like this. It is very common for our anxiety to try and convince us that people are out to get us or that we can't trust them, but it is important to acknowledge when it is our anxiety causing these thoughts rather than somebody else's actions.

In today's episode we talk about not being a passive receiver of all the negative things that happen in our lives. People can mistreat us and we can get hurt but unfortunately we are the only person that can resolve these issues for ourselves. Sometimes we may find ourselves in a rut, feeling unmotivated or miserable but yet make no attempt to feel better. Sometimes we have to realise when enough is enough, don't be a victim to your emotions or to the bad things that happen. Life can be cruel and unfair at times but we are the only one responsible for how we deal with it. Make the effort to improve your current situation and be proactive about being happy.

This week's episode is about learning how to truly value your own opinion of yourself and the decisions you make. We tend to do so much for others or avoid doing things in fear others wont approve. If we spend our lives avoiding scary decisions and taking risks in fear of what other's will say, it is only us inevitably that will suffer. You need to remind yourself who you are making these decisions for and who has to live with the consequences of your actions. And a scary truth we all have to accept is that people will say things, people aren't going to like you and you will be judged but this isn't something that can be avoided. The very least you can do is ensure you're happy with your life.

In today's episode we talk about motivation and being productive. Motivation tends to fluctuate a lot and so it is important not to rely your productivity solely on how motivated you are. The reality is sometimes you don't have the motivation to do something but you still have to get up and do it. Focus on discipline, better managing your time and becoming okay with the fact that nothing ever goes exactly to plan. If something falls off course or doesn't go exactly to plan don't use that as an excuse to give up altogether. Doing something as best as you can on that day is better than not doing it at all.

Today's episode marks one year of The High Life Podcast! This episode talks about learning to say no, setting boundaries and learning that we don't need to prove to anyone that we are worthy of their love. This episode is dedicated to my mum who has always taught me about the importance of saying no and who is someone that is very firm in her boundaries. A lot of us tend to avoid saying no in fear of not being liked, yet my mum is so widely liked and loved and doesn't sacrifice her own boundaries in attempt to 'prove herself' to anyone. Listen to this episode if you struggle with being a people pleaser and learn how to be secure in yourself.

In today's episode we talk about why it is unhealthy to put celebrities, the people we date and friends on a pedestal. We create an idealised version of this person in our head and set unrealistic expectations for them to meet. Doing this often tends to be due to our own insecurities, we see in someone what we don't see in ourselves or we feel as though is 'too good' for us. Putting some on a pedestal is not only unhealthy for you but it is also incredibly unhealthy and unfair on the individual you idolise. Listen to this episode if you need reminding that we are all equal and no person is 'too good, pretty or smart' for you.

In today's episode we talk about conditional happiness. Something a lot of us tend to do is give ourselves requirements for when we can be and will feel happiness.  We spend so much of our lives looking forward to the time when we have the job, the house, the kids and when we have it 'all figured out' but something we have to come to terms with is there will never be a time where we have it 'all figured out'. Problems will continue to present themselves and our lives will continue to change, stop waiting to be happy and feeling as though this isn't possible until everything in your life is sorted because you are inevitably setting yourself up to fail. Stop chasing this feeling and instead embrace the good days and get through the hard ones, you deserve happiness at all times, at all ages. Happiness is not a reward we have to work for to deserve.

In this week's episode we talk about practising detachment. Being overly attached to a certain person, thing or even a time in your life can make you feel as though they are your only source of happiness. You should never place one person or one thing at the centre of your being or over depend on them. A fact of life is that things will always change, your circumstances, the relationships you have in your life and even you. Sometimes thing's feel so perfect that we don't want to let go of them but an undeniable truth is that holding on tighter wont stop things from changing. Move with the change in your life and embrace it in order to be truly happy.

In today's episode we talk about taking accountability, which at times, can be really difficult. It can be hard to admit when we're in the wrong or that we've hurt someone close to us. Our pride often ruins a lot of things and wont allow us to take the time to really listen to someone and admit that we're wrong. Think about what's more important, your pride or your relationships, your need to be right or your own growth. Listen to this episode if you want to learn how to control your reactions and grow from your mistakes. When you realise that there are much worse things in life to be than wrong, you'll grow a lot.

In today's episode we talk about finding peace. A lot of the time, the reason why we feel upset or anxious is because we aren't accepting a situation we've found ourselves in. A relationship or a person turns out not to meet our expectation and we struggle to accept the truth. We find ourselves upset because something hasn't turned out the way we wanted it to and refuse to accept what's happened so we don't have to deal with it. This is often the reason we find ourselves in relationships that no longer fulfil us and with people that don't deserve us. We hope they'll be better and we wait around in hopes that they will. True peace comes from accepting people and situations for what they are and knowing when to leave when  they no longer serve you.

In today's episode we talk about the importance of setting boundaries and raising your standards. A lot of the time we can be so worried about being a 'nice' person that we can struggle to stick up for ourselves and require more from people. There is nothing noble about being kind to everyone but yourself. If you constantly find yourself in relationships where you feel as though you're always giving more than you're getting back, then you need to have a think about how much you think you deserve. Stay confident in the fact that you deserve all the love you give out in return, no one is more deserving than you. Raise your own standards and don't accept anyone that isn't treating you as good as you treat yourself.

In this week's episode we talk about how we can improve our confidence. So many of us miss out on so much of our life because we spend so much time beating ourselves up for the way that we look. Life is far too short to miss out on so much good because we feel like we're not up to the 'beauty standard'. If there are things holding you back from enjoying your life, make the change and make the effort to improve the way you feel towards yourself and your confidence.  Nothing is more beautiful than a person who looks the way they truly want to and loves themselves for it.

In today's episode we talk about not allowing ourselves to become so consumed by our emotions. Sometimes we allow one slight inconvenience or a small disturbance ruin our whole day. Allow yourself to feel the initial emotion and then take the time to decide how much of your energy this situation is really worth.  We often find ourselves getting so stuck in the right now and how far away from our goals we are, that we tend to forgot about all the goals we have already achieved. It is so important to take a step back at times and think about how proud your younger self would be and how your future self will look back at this time. Don't spend your whole life getting bugged down on so much of the little things and allow yourself to focus on the bigger picture.

In today's episode we talk about our tendency at times to complain, bitch and be negative. It is completely normal to not always be positive and to not like everyone but when it is more common for you to have something negative to say as opposed to something good, you might be a 'hater.' We can all be a 'hater' sometimes, about certain people and certain things but we have to take accountability and ask ourselves why it is we hate this thing or person so much. What is it about this person that is triggering you to the point that you have to say something hurtful? We have to look within ourselves and see what it is about this person that highlights something we don't like about ourselves.

In today's episode we talk about the fact that so much of our lives is out of our control, including the timing of when certain things happen. Once we finally let go of all these things we're trying so hard to control we will find ourselves much more at peace. The most important thing to do is become confident in the fact that what you want to happen in your life and all the things that you want to achieve will happen and that it is just a matter of when. Don't let the fact that something hasn't happened yet as a sign that it never will, remain confident that you will receive everything you desire.

In today's episode we discuss just how special the first time you do anything is. When you try something for the first time it will always top anything else because you go into it blindly, without any expectations. Growing up we find ourselves constantly doing something for the first time but as we grow older we grow comfortable and find ourselves continuously doing the same things that we've grown to love. This is your sign to try that new thing you've been meaning to and meet some new people. You cant go back to any stage in your life and you don't want to find yourself looking back at any time and wishing you did more.

In today's episode we discuss why you keep finding yourself going back and fourth with someone that deep down you know isn't right for you. When we really care about somebody we find ourselves putting them on a pedestal and it feels as though the only opinion that matters to us is theirs. It can be really tricky when we give someone so much power, over our emotions, the way we see ourselves and our self esteem. Stop searching for validation in someone that is never going to give it you, take back that power.

In today's episode we discuss the importance of both having discipline and allowing ourselves to enjoy life. It can be very difficult to not do things in excess and that's where the problem lies- people always speak about the dangers of doing things that 'feel good' to an excess, but being disciplined to an excess can be troubling too. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself that you find yourself constantly feeling guilty when you don't follow your plan. Whilst its just as important to not find yourself constantly over indulging in things that feel good now and not so much later. Listen to this episode if you want help in finding that important balance.

In today's episode we talk about why it's important to not take things so personally. We constantly put ourselves at the centre of so many situations and feel as though peoples' actions are a direct reflection of us and how deserving we are of love. Once we learn that other peoples' actions have everything to do with them and nothing to do with us we will stop getting hurt by other peoples behaviours. Realising that not everything is about you will set you free in so many ways.

This week's episode is about how to stop settling in life. Often we find ourselves not wanting more from life because we have become comfortable with where we are. We find ourselves in jobs that we hate, relationships that drain us and sometimes we find ourselves in a bad place for so long it almost becomes comforting. The thought of going out and wanting more can be scary, but it is always worth the risk. You should want more from life and always strive for more happiness above all else.

In today's episode we talk about the process of finding yourself and wanting to improve yourself. At times we can want to grow and improve so much that we end up losing ourselves in the process. It can be difficult at times to make the distinction between what makes you you and what is a downfall of your character. Remember to always stay true to yourself, and although you can always be better, don't lose yourself trying to be somebody you're not. In today's episode we're talking about when it is the right time to let go of something or someone that is harming us. Often we find ourselves unable to let go of something even when it's hurting us because we fear that by letting go, we will lose ourselves in the process. We tend to feel as though relationships and the harmful things that have happened to us define us entirely, but the truth is you have your own identity outside of any relationship or experience. Holding on to something pass it's expiration date will only do more harm than good. Don't hurt yourself in the process of denying what's meant for you and what isn't. Anything you lose only gives space for better things to come.

In today's episode we talk about re-finding your value. Over time through socialisation, failed friendships and relationships we can often start to doubt ourselves and our self worth. We can start to feel as though we are not deserving of as much good because we haven't been treated the best. This episode discusses how to unlearn this way of thinking and to remember that your value is not dependent on changing things, your value doesn't decrease just because you don't fit the ideal body standard, or because a past relationship failed. This episode highlights the importance of showing ourselves unconditional love.

Today's episode highlights the importance of making plans and setting goals, whilst still enjoying the time we have between now and then. Add some more meaning to each day and you'll find yourself enjoying so much more of life. A day doesn't need to be extraordinary in order for it to be good. Also, don't let the pressures of others make you rush through your goals. It is important to have faith that those days will come and to enjoy the now.

When we are trying to improve ourselves and be better, we can often find ourselves riddled with guilt when we think about the mistakes we've made in the past or when we do things now that we swore we wouldn't do again. The truth is, growth has a lot to do with forgiveness, how can we do better when we are too stuck in the past? In today's episode we talk about seeking external validation from others, even those that we don't know nor like. You have to realise that people will dislike you regardless of how much effort you put into appearing to be perfect. It's better to live the life you want to live than live the life you feel you should. It's impossible to be loved by everyone so why aspire to this? Once you finally realise the simple fact that people don't care as much as you think they do, you will set yourself free.
