When we embark on our healing journey (which is a journey of a lifetime!), it is so important to acknowledge the truths that we are not only healing from our own personal experiences but we are also healing from intergenerational trauma and from collective wounds.

Our special guest Vanessa Bennett - LMFT, Author, Facilitator, Podcaster of the Cheaper Than Therapy Podcast, and Mama - offers us professional insights and perspectives that inform us of what it takes to really heal.

As we expand on the healing journey, we explore the significance of healing in relationships and allowing ourselves to be seen in our messiness, our imperfection, our not having it all together - emphasizing that vulnerability is required to experience true intimacy.

Other topics that we discuss in this conversation include (but are not limited to): depth psychology, the collective unconscious, collective healing, mind body spirit interconnectedness, radical responsibility, mirroring relationships, healing in a healthy way, and codependency.

When we dream to live an unconventional life, we must fully accept that it requires us to walk an unconventional path. And unconventional paths are paths that require us to fully embrace the unknown, practice radical acceptance, and deeply trust along the way that we are being led to where we dream to be.

For LaNia Roberts, her unconventional dream life includes being an artist. This unconventional dream life of hers is one that has manifested and in this conversation, she shares with us what walking the unconventional path has looked and felt like.

A large part of the journey for her has been the reclamation of her voice, the rewriting of many stories she'd made agreements with that weren't true, and lots of keeping it real with herself.

We talk art as a tool for self-expression and liberation, redefining beauty, truly allowing yourself to feel what you feel, healing and the boredom that comes with healing, letting go of unaligned relationships and beliefs, uncovering truths and lies, and so much more.

Do we need to be fully healed to experience a healthy relationship? What is required of us to experience a healthy relationship? Are our partners at all responsible for our healing? What if we have different attachment styles? How do we know whether or not we should walk away from a relationship? These are all questions (amongst others) that we explore and expand on in this conversation with Trauma-Informed Love Coach, Sabrina Flores.

At a time where we have access to so many varying (and conflicting) words of advice surrounding healing and healthy relationships, it can feel conflicting to know what advice to follow and not to follow. What's beautiful about this conversation and about speaking with Sabrina Flores is that she vulnerably, openly shares with us her own personal stories (past and present) that support her coaching.

This is an insightful episode all about the healing journey, healthy relationships, and healing in healthy relationships.

When we talk about living in the present moment, we also have to talk about embracing the unknown because the present moment is the unknown. This is one major reason why most people don't live in the present moment.

Rather than living in the present moment, most people live in the past (is this you?) because the past is familiar, and therefore, feels easier to control. When life feels "controllable," life feels safer and easier and comfortable.

Living in the present moment takes a lot of courage because it requires us to surrender the illusion of control and surrender to the unknown.

This conversation intends to clarify why the present moment is the unknown, how embracing the unknown is powerful, and intends to comfort you in the discomfort of expecting the unexpected.

Living in a society that encourages unhealthy masculinity creates a society that suppresses feminine energy, which is the energy of surrender, of trust, of nourishment, of intuitive knowing. We are living in a time now where the masculine and feminine energies that exist within us individually and collectively are being awakened and balanced.

Especially over the last few years, we've grown aware of the unhealthy, wounded, toxic masculine traits that have driven us towards disconnection and depletion. We've begun to experience the rise of feminine energy, as we grow called to let go of the need to control, of the need to know it all, and rest in the present moment.

This conversation, with our special guest Justin Tristao, gifts us clarity revolving healthy and unhealthy masculinity. We expand on the healing and awakening journey of both the masculine and feminine, and the responsibilities we have as individuals in this journey of healing and awakening.

Topics we touch on include:

  • The gratitude of healthy masculines & feminines
  • The masculine-favored society we live in
  • Blockages that manifest in the unhealthy masculine
  • Life changes that we experience as we begin to heal
  • The importance of safe spaces
  • Taking responsibility for our healing
  • Perpetuating generational cycles
  • How children are great teachers
  • Regulating your nervous system/emotions

What if all of life is a journey of unfolding into your true Self? And what if there were phases to this unfolding? Our guest, Arielle Estoria, shares with us the five phases of our life unfoldment, which she expands on in her latest book, The Unfolding: An Invitation to Coming Home To Your True Self.Actor, Poet, and Author, Arielle, observed her becoming and unbecoming in the last few years and noticed that coming home to your true Self is a process. To Arielle, we awaken to the changes that need to happen, we grieve who we once were while we create space for who we're becoming, we healingly piece our Self and our life back together, we open our Self up to embrace the Light within and without, and we ultimately end up home - as our true Self.

In this conversation, Arielle and I explore the parts of her story that revealed and clarified these phases leading her back home. We talk about how there is a lot of unbecoming in becoming, how dismantling takes place when new foundations are built, how what others may be envisioning for us may not actually be for us, and beyond.

PTSD symptoms don't always show up right after a traumatic experience. Sometimes the symptoms arrive years later when you least expect.

For our special guest, Madeline Popelka - who is the Founder of one of the largest healing communities on Instagram and Author of the recently published book, You're Going To Be Okay - she didn't experience her PTSD symptoms that stemmed from childhood and generational trauma until her late twenties.

In this conversation, Madeline and I talk about the healing journey and what that has looked (and felt) like for her. We expand on one of her most important lessons she learned on her journey - to hold onto the goodness and allow yourself to experience good feeling feelings, such as joy.

We acknowledge the truth that even positive change can feel triggering for those healing from trauma and other truths as well. This is an honest and encouraging conversation between two women who have experienced trauma and have actively chosen (and continue to choose) to heal.

Other topics we touch on include:

  • Asking for help and support
  • "Small" trauma
  • The myth that PTSD is a choice
  • Trauma anniversaries
  • Creating safe space for trauma survivors
  • Becoming a truer version of you

Imagine being able to look back at your life and say, “I was present for all of it.” I don’t know about you but I desire to be able to genuinely say that.

Being present has been my main mental, physical and spiritual practice for the past year now and, as time passes, I continue to expand my conscious awareness as to why being present is so powerful. I have truly come to fully believe that being present is the best thing we can be.

It is in the present moment where we are our most powerful - not just because when we are present we take our power back from the past and familiar future but also because when we are present, we are in a state of flow and in a state of receptivity. We become open and receptive to divine intelligence, divine guidance and divine inspiration.

Being present is a practice. And it is so worth the practice. In this episode, I share with you some of my reflections and realizations that have come from my practice of being present. My intention is to have you walk away from listening to this episode feeling greater clarity, confidence, and comfort regarding being here, now.

Other topics I touch on include:

  • one of my most sobering, awakening realizations
  • what "familiar future" means
  • being in survival mode
  • what "giving our power away" means
  • why being present is a practice
  • why we already know how to be present

"I can really trust I am fulfilling my purpose, as long as I am Being present," shares Shamanic Healer, Spiritual Teacher, & Author, Shaman Nabeel Redwood, as he expands on finding your purpose. For Shaman Redwood, "finding your purpose" is less about pursuing and fulfilling a destination and more about Being fully in the present moment. Inspired by his book, "Inner Peace, Outer Power: A Shamanic Guide To Living Your Purpose," this conversation is full of Shamanic perspectives, insights, and teachings on approaching and responding to life differently.

At a time where he was battling with depression, aligning with Shamanism changed Shaman Redwood's life. We touch on his Shamanic healing and awakening journey, shifting his relationship with depression, as well as purpose, and expand on practicing acceptance, inner-peace, and presence.

This is a beautiful conversation on, essentially, receiving the journey as the gift, rather than the destination.

Hating on our exes honestly makes no sense to me. I wouldn’t have the healthy relationships I have now without my exes. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my exes. The acknowledgement of these two truths alone is like… why wouldn’t I be grateful for my exes? And I'm not just referring to past lovers and partners. I'm referring to all my exes - ex friends included.

In my opinion, being grateful for our exes is a really healing, healthy and mature thing to do (when it's genuine of course). My intention in sharing this conversation with you is to inspire you to be grateful for your exes (and your past in general) in such a way where you take your power back and move on with your life as a wiser version of you. I expand on why we need to evolve from hating on our exes, why being grateful for our past is powerful, why I personally am grateful for my exes, and why you can be grateful for your exes, too. I also offer you some shifts in perspective regarding break ups.

Cheers to being grateful for relationships that began and ended.

"Human design helps us get back to our energy," explains our special guest, Human Design Expert, Leah McCloud. What is human design? Who is human design for? What are the essentials when reading a human design chart? How does it help us manifest our dreams? And why does it return us to our (true) energy? These are all questions we answer in this episode and more!

For Leah, human design found her and when it did, she found her true Self. In addition to expanding on human design, we also expand on finding your true Self through human design as human design shows you your energetic blueprint. We expand on what happens when you begin to explore and discover your true Self and the way life will tend to simultaneously fall apart as it falls together. This is a clear, concise conversation on human design and inspiring conversation on returning back home to your Self (which leads to dreams coming true).

Being in transition is hard. Owning your passions is hard. Becoming a mom... is hard. But just because it's hard, doesn't mean you're incapable. Just because it's hard, doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Just because it's hard, doesn't mean you should give up. In this conversation with Founder of By Way of Us, Sarah Kim, we expand on various seasons of life that feel hard and how to navigate these hard seasons.

We expand on the seasons where we know what we're being pulled from but don't yet know what we're being pulled towards. We expand on the seasons where we've let go of a past version of our Self and our life but haven't fully stepped into our renewed Self and life. We also expand on the seasons where we not only have fully stepped into our renewal but owned it. We touch on being true to your Self, the importance of vulnerability, and gaining a newfound confidence.

If you're in transition, in any way, this conversation is especially for you!

Over the course of the past year, I have been deepening and developing relationships that feel like answered prayers (and they totally are). It's no coincidence that the year I begin to manifest healthy relationships in my life that are good for my mind, body, and Spirit, followed the couple of years I spent turning inward. Though I still have so much to learn about healthy relationships and about my own Self, I've gotten to a point where I feel confident enough to have this conversation with you about attracting the healthy relationships you deeply desire and deserve.

In this episode, I share my reflections and realizations regarding manifesting healthy relationships. I also share a bit about my past relationships and why it's important we observe those. Other topics I touch on in this conversation include: inner-child healing, feeling grateful for unhealthy relationships, subconscious programming and conditioning, shadow work, turning inward, feeling overwhelmed, being patient, and more! There are some affirmations for you in the end, too.

An alchemist is someone who can transform any normally disempowering experience into an empowering one. An alchemist is someone who sees the medicine and the message in any mess. An alchemist is someone who doesn't run from the shadow and instead welcomes it, understands it, and loves it into light. This conversation is all about being an alchemist, and our guest, Crystal Streets, openly shares her personal stories with us that exemplify the magic and miracle of alchemy.

Crystal Streets is an energetic alchemist, intuitive fine jeweler, healer, channel, ceremonialist, cosmic guide, breathwork facilitator, and spiritual coach. One of her past selves was a celebrity stylist for clients such as Jay-Z and Rihanna, which we touch on in this conversation and expand on knowing when it's time to close a chapter of your life and the journey of moving forward into a new one. You can follow Crystal on Instagram here and explore her offerings/jewelry here.

If you're desiring to feel more empowered in life, if you're in the midst of a deeply healing and spiritual journey, if you're practicing surrendering to change, this conversation is especially for you. We also touch on making ego-based decisions, being in and out of alignment, reprogramming the subconscious, breaking generational cycles, fearing the unknown, transformative motherhood and more!

Some are for discipline. Other are against discipline. And for a while, I wasn't sure whether I was for it or against it but I've come to the clarity that I am absolutely for it. I not only believe that a successful life is a disciplined life but I believe that discipline is a part of nature, and if nature weren't disciplined, all of life would cease to exist!

Also, what if I told you that you are disciplined? Everyday, you are disciplined. You are actually really good at being disciplined. The focus then, really, isn't how to become a disciplined person but to be consciously aware of and intentional about how you're disciplined and what you're being disciplined for.

In this conversation, I share my personal reflections and realizations regarding discipline. We also expand on the benefits of discipline. My intention with this episode is to shift your perspective on discipline and gift you a deeper understanding!

When life gets tough, most of the time, people just want easy answers. So they seek for answers outside of themselves - online, in relationships, at work. And while some external findings do bring forth temporary clarity, it's never the clarity that brings forth long-lasting results. The answers most of us are seeking are answers that are only found when we stop searching outside of us and turn inward.

Two years living as a sannyasin (yogic monk) at an ashram and eight years fully immersed in a guru-based, Tantric Yogic tradition, Hilary Jackendoff ultimately came to the realization that she would never find the freedom she was seeking if she kept searching outside of her Self. In this conversation, we expand on the journey of turning inward and learning how to be (as well as the importance of being) our own teacher.

Hilary is an Ashram-trained Yoga Nidra and Meditation Teacher, Teacher Trainer, and Human Design Reader. You can explore her services here and follow her on Instagram here.

Other topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • seeking your purpose
  • reclaiming your power
  • honoring your energy
  • suffering in life
  • practicing self-acceptance
  • practicing letting go
  • the importance of rest and relaxation
  • yoga nidra
  • human design

I wasn't planning on publishing an episode specifically about 2023 but I had a change of mind, as I felt called and inspired to record a conversation we can all return to through the year and replay when we feel the need to be gently reminded and encouraged that this year is our year - regardless of external circumstances, current situations, and/or if expectations are being met.

Many people have expressed that they feel "this year is MY year" and it truly feels that way. 2023 feels like a year where it all begins to make sense, where the rewards are rewarded, where the fruit begins to bear. And I'd love for us to remain in this feeling, in this energy.

This episode is spoken from the heart and is full of affirmations.

One of the most important perspectives I gained in regards to "starting over" and pivoting in life is that... when we intuitively feel called to start over and pivot, it's a sign that we've completed a cycle and it's time to move onto a new one. This perspective of completion gifted me a sense of wholeness, which encouraged me to move onward and upward.

I write "starting over" in quotations because I, personally, don't believe we're ever really starting over. I believe we're always starting over with experience and experience doesn't leave us empty handed in our endings and beginnings. I expand on this in this episode and I also expand on the various types of pivots I've experienced in the past couple of years, why fearing pivoting is rooted in lack and limitation, the weight of resistance leading to surrender, and more! I also offer some reflectional prompts and affirmations.

"At the end of the day, when all is said and done, if you want to grow and expand into your higher potentials, you have to allow your Self to start over. You have to allow your Self to pivot. You will only grow more burdened and confined when you resist your renewal. And you are so worthy of experiencing your higher potentials, in every aspect of your life."

🎙 "If you have to suppress a truth in order to keep the peace in a relationship or in an environment… then is the peace really present? Where is the peace in that?" - Jocelyn

This is basically a conversation about why expressing the truth is awesome - even when the truth you're expressing feels uncomfortable. Not long ago I had a moment where I felt called to express an uncomfortable truth to someone and, after a short time suppressing it, I expressed it. And I felt so grateful! I am so grateful to grow comfortable and confident expressing the truth. I am so grateful for all the moments I witness my Self choosing differently, choosing to express the truth out of love and breaking the unhealthy pattern of suppressing the truth out of fear (like I have many times in the past).

If you're someone who struggles expressing the truth out of fear, this conversation is especially for you.

🎙 "If I stuck to my original goals, I wouldn't be where I'm at. I'm in a completely different field that I would've never imagined ten, twenty years ago." - Andy Nguyen

From real estate to streetwear to the food industry (and multiple other seemingly random ventures in-between), successful Serial Entrepreneur and Co-Founder, Andy Nguyen, has experienced an unpredictable yet divinely orchestrated entrepreneurial journey. A success that has come with many highs and lows, Andy has grown confident in allowing himself to change, trusting his gut, and pursuing big ideas as soon as the inspiration strikes (even if that big idea calls for a major pivot).

With over twenty concepts built in just the last eight years in over sixty locations worldwide, Andy has (partly) learned that it's okay if and when plans change. He welcomes the evolutionary nature of life and has come to realize that, ultimately, his dreams always come true in ways beyond his scope of imagination.

Some of the businesses Andy has Co-Founded include Afters Ice Cream, Dough & Arrow, Matte Black Coffee, Bored & Hungry, and Trill Burgers (which was named the best burger in America by Good Morning America). Food Network called Andy "the mash-up king in the food industry." You can follow him on Instagram here.

This is an inspiring conversation that ultimately encourages you to be your true Self, follow your passions, and trust the divine unfoldment of your life! Failures contribute to your growth. Mistakes offer valuable lessons. And change is inevitable.

🎙 "Had I known that we all grieve differently and that you don’t really move on from grief, especially not when it’s a grief of a dear loved one, I feel like that would’ve lifted a lot of weight off my already weighted shoulders." - Jocelyn

Grief is an inescapable part of the human experience. There is no escaping the experience of grief. That said, I feel it is important that we talk about it.

I wasn't planning on publishing an episode on grief at this time but the unexpected death of our cat moved me to have this heart-to-heart conversation with you, as I know I'm not alone in feeling grief at this time. Over the past couple of years, we've experienced both individual and collective grief (of many sorts), so I pray this conversation bring you comfort in some way.

I am grateful I've accepted grief as a part of life because the acceptance assisted my healing. After the loss of my father, I realized that that grief wasn't ever going to go away and the sooner I accepted that, the sooner I was able to move forward with my grief, rather than spending time efforting (and struggling) to move on from it.

In this conversation, I'm sharing my personal reflections on grief, some of what I have learned, and more. Thank you for listening.

  • the tendency to blame the Self/others
  • feeling responsible to have solutions and answers
  • being "good" "after" grief

🎙 "The faster you move, the more mistakes that you make." - Brian "Z" Zisook

Although staying true to your values and honoring your intentions may, at times, call for taking the longer route, it's worth it. It also contributes to you experiencing your true success! Brian "Z" Zisook Co-Founded two incredibly genuine (and successful) companies that internally and externally reflect being "for the people" and it's in large part because he and his team remained in alignment with their mission and vision.

As we hear from Brian's story, though, sometimes as you're in alignment with your vision, you have to be willing to take risks, make sacrifices and adjustments as needed. Having a business partner that compliments you definitely helps. Brian's business partner for both DJBooth and Audiomack, David Macli, is the visionary, while Brian is the logistic. This complimentary duo makes for a successful entrepreneurial journey that we expand on in this conversation.

Aside from business, we also expand on Brian's personal life as a son, as a father, as a husband and how all of those roles and aspects of his life contribute to his overall success. Unexpectedly being a caregiver for his mother at a young age, being mindful of his marriage, and birthing a daughter all shaped the caring, genuine personality that is Brian Zisook.

This is a beautiful professional and personal conversation that is sure to inspire every creative, entrepreneur, and human navigating this simple, complex life.

🎙 "Anything that you suppress will eventually feel like a burden, whether it’s an idea or an emotion or an experience or a thought." - Jocelyn

In our last one-on-one conversation (episode 71), I touched on being someone who has a lot of ideas and being someone who is grateful to have a lot of ideas. Ever since I can remember, I have always had a lot of ideas but it wasn't until a few years ago that I actually started seeing my abundance of ideas as a blessing and not as a burden.

After years of pursuing my ideas and bringing them to life, I realized many reasons why having a lot of ideas is a blessing and I realized many reasons why having a lot of ideas can feel like a burden. And the truth is... our ideas are not the burden, we are.

I feel called to have this conversation with you because I know there are many brilliant minds and hearts out there with lots of ideas but also lots of overwhelm, doubt, and confusion. How can you start to see your ideas as blessings, not burdens? What do you do when you have a lot of ideas? Where do you start? Which idea do you pursue first? What happens when you do start pursuing and bringing your ideas to life?

There's a lot we can discuss in regards to this but this episode is a great place for us to start the conversation.

🎙 "How can we expect to enter the Temple of God when we can't even take care of the Temple that God gave us?" - Tone Levels

I'd like to preface this description by saying that the substance and depth of this conversation is a pure reflection of the substance and depth my Self and my guest have explored within our Self. These beautiful, open, awakening conversations are expressed between two people when each of those two people have these kinds of conversations with their Self.

Tone Levels, also known on socials as The Blood That Heals, is a Sacred Masculine that has come a long way "from operating fully as matter. He was in the streets, jail consecutively, letting his emotions control him, and his perception on life. Not realizing that his perception, his mind, the way that he thinks shapes his reality and his life." (in his own words)

In this profound conversation (that I feel everybody needs to listen to), we expand on where he is ascending from, what he confronted in him Self, and so much of what he has expanded his conscious awareness about, such as: the importance of eating natural, whole foods, being Spirit and consciousness, honoring his body temple, divine masculinity and femininity, the power of cultivating sexual energy, how to forgive him Self, the journey being the destination, and ultimately, that in him overcoming him Self, he can overcome any and everything beyond him.

This is truly such a special episode. Tap in with an open mind and heart!

If you'd like to support Tone Levels and follow his journey, click here to explore his music, online shop, consultations, semen retention/ejaculation control course, and beyond.

  • your Self is your greatest obstacle
  • practicing mind over matter
  • not simply identifying as human
  • how food impacts your energy
  • being uncomfortable so you can grow
  • taking accountability for your journey
  • overcoming shame and guilt
  • falling in love with someones potential

🎙 "The best thing the Creator creates is the Creator." - Jocelyn

We all have an inner-Creator that seeks to be liberated and empowered by pure love and pure passion. And I sincerely believe we are all being called to honor this truth and embrace, as well as unleash, the Creator within us.

For the past almost couple of years I have been diligently and devotedly creating multiple creations, including this podcast. I've created the most content I have ever created in my entire life! When I first committed my Self to my tunnel vision and consistency, I sincerely believed my whole life was going to change within six months. I really thought that after six months of hardcore focus my whole life was going to be different and my creations were going to be responsible for that. And... my life did change - just not the way my ego expected. And when my egos expectations weren't met, I began to doubt my Self as a creator and doubt what I was/am creating.

It's one thing to step into your power by creating what you feel called to create and it's another thing to allow what you're creating to be in a state of flow and divinely unfold in divine timing (with little to no expectations).

I am so grateful to be arriving to this acceptance and surrender that allows what I create to simply Be and be enough. I am grateful to let go of expectations and sincerely liberate my creativity. I am grateful to be approaching and creating and Being in relationship with my visions differently. And I am excited to expand in conversation with you about this! fellow Creator.

🎙 "When you don’t wholeheartedly know what you are worthy of, you will settle for less." - Jocelyn

I know I'm not alone in healing my sense of self-worth, in reflecting on my worthiness. What really triggered this for me was the pandemic. "Losing everything" had me feeling like I also lost my worth and my value. But this didn't wholeheartedly feel true to me. It didn't feel true to me that our worth and our value is dependent on our external circumstances, on our performance, on our achievements. And that's because that isn't the truth.

Having this conversation about self-worth and expanding our conscious awareness about our own sense of self-worth is so important because our sense of self-worth impacts and influences our lives in so many ways we aren't even aware of. We need to know, wholeheartedly know, our worthiness is innate. We need to know, wholeheartedly know, we are worthy of love, of joy, regardless of what we have or don't have, regardless of who we are or are not. We are worthy.

If you've been exploring your self-worth, if you too have been contemplating this or perhaps have felt called to - this conversation is especially for you. And I pray you walk away from this episode with more clarity, confidence, and comfort in your worth.

Topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • Worthiness being innate
  • How the environment we were raised in affected our self-worth
  • Being conditioned to believe you have to earn your worthiness
  • Why it's important we heal our sense of self-worth
  • How to heal your sense of self-worth
  • Inner-child healing & ancestral healing
  • What happens when you heal your sense of self-worth
  • What happens when you have a low sense of self-worth

What began as a pursuit into the yogic path led to the introduction to cacao medicine and ceremony, which then led Christine Olivia Hernandez to a heart opening journey of spiritual, divine unfoldment. Christine did not know all that cacao would lead her to but she knew when she first experienced its medicine that she was called to deepen her relationship with it, explore it, and introduce others to its healing gift.

Christine's life story is a testament of what happens when you answer your callings and journey with an open heart - healing happens, soul purpose fulfillment happens, sisterhood happens, love happens, divine partnership happens, ancestral and inner-child work happens, and beyond. Now a Cacao Ceremonialist, Author, and Founder of the Maltyox Method, Christine is devoted to honoring her Guatemayan Ancestors, enriching others lives by sharing her gifts, embodying gratitude, and continuing to walk the path to remembering.

This is a beautiful conversation on the experience of divine, spiritual unfoldment, the empowerment that comes with remembering your roots, and how living life with an open heart leads you to your truth!

🎙 "Don't count your Self out just because you think the Universe hasn't counted you in." - Jocelyn

Is it just me or do you also feel the cosmic, Universal encouragement to take a step back & see the bigger picture? Is it just me or have you also felt called to expand your perspective & not be so fixated on what you see right in front of you? This episode is inspired by this encouragement, by this calling.

Knowing that it's bigger than you is helpful. It helps you realize you're not alone, it relieves you from the weight of overwhelming your Self with unnecessary responsibility, it reminds you that you don't have complete control - ever, & motivates you.

Too often we forget that it's bigger than us, it's bigger than what we see right in front of us, it's bigger than our current circumstances, it's bigger than the stories we know & tell ourselves. Too often we contribute to the limits of our beliefs, our perceptions, our narratives & it stunts our growth. It stagnates us. It distances us from the truth.

In this episode, we are taking that moment to take a step back and see the bigger picture. I am sharing with you three ways it's bigger than you, why knowing it's bigger than you is helpful, reflectional prompts to get your contemplations flowing, & gratitude affirmations to bring our conversation full circle.

Topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • Three ways it's bigger than you
  • Why knowing it's bigger than you is helpful
  • The importance of knowing your true Self
  • The value of knowing who you are not
  • How to discover your purpose
  • Making an impact on the world
  • Allowing your Self to explore & make mistakes
  • Not taking things personally
  • Relationships that end
  • Spiritual awakening & healing
  • Divine timing

A beautiful, honest conversation on how spirituality and awakening changes your whole life, Psychology-Based Business Coach, Jen Casey shares with us the breakdown of her journey. From having a voice in her head that was not kind nor uplifting to unidentifying with that voice to changing that voice into one that empowers her, the truths she awakened to of who she is not and who she is not only impacted her internal (and external) voice but impacted her relationships and her career, too.

In this conversation, Jen vulnerably details the conscious beginning and continued unfoldment of her spiritual journey, including feeling lonely, discovering her gifts, shifting to an abundance mindset, and aligning with the sisterhood her heart has always desired - making this an affirming episode for those walking the path of their own spiritual journey.

🎙️"Gentle reminder that you are worthy of approaching solitude as an intentional, spiritual practice that not only brings you closer to your Self but to the divine." - JocelynWe are continuing the conversation on solitude. In episode 61, I expanded on my own personal journey through solitude. In this episode, I am getting straight to the point on how solitude may change your life (as it did mine) and am offering some affirmations, reflectional prompts, and gentle reminders for you and your own relationship with solitude.

As of now, in this moment as I type this, episode 61 is the most listened to episode I've published to date, which inspired me to make this "part 02" and gift you some words of encouragement. As I mentioned in this episode, if it weren't for the solitude I've experienced in the past couple of years, I wouldn't have experienced the most profound healing and spiritual awakening that I have in the past couple of years. I have become an advocate for solitude (as I am an advocate for community healing, too).

I encourage you to gift your Self grace and compassion as you listen to this episode and as I guide you through some self-inquiry.

If you enjoyed the format of this conversation, please let me know (on social media, via email or Apple Podcast reviews) as I decided to try something new! I personally really enjoyed offering you some affirmations, prompts and reminders.

🎙 "Most of my life has been spent in the passenger seat or the back seat of the car of my life, so to speak. So, I would say it only was within the past six years, maybe, where I felt increasingly conscious and more invested in being as fully conscious as possible of my own reality..." - Didier Sylvain

Are you in the drivers seat of your life? or are you in the passengers seat? the back seat? What does it take to become the leader of your life? How do we get there? These are some of the many questions on life, leadership, and becoming that Didier Sylvain and I expand on in this episode.

Didier Sylvain is a Transformational Speaker, Leadership Trainer, and Life Alignment Coach that sees the journey to leadership as a journey not to be rushed, a journey of conscious awareness, and active listening. He mentions that he spent most of his life in the passenger seat and shares with us his own personal, transformative journey in practice and in awakening, as well as what he has learned along the way.

This is a clarifying, calming conversation that not only sheds light on leadership and conscious, intentional living but on allowing yourself to expand, gifting yourself expansion. This conversation is also a beautiful example of holding a safe space for truth, perspective, duality, and healthy exchange. If you're seeking encouragement to step into your power, this episode is especially for you.

🎙️"In solitude no one can influence or distract you - other than your Self. And at that point you have to ask your Self, 'Why am I distracting my Self? What am I distracting my Self from?" - JocelynAt the end of 2020, I decided to move into my own apartment, alone, with the intention to fully process and heal from all the losses I had recently experienced. At first, the solitude was incredibly challenging, as I naturally dove into shadow work to confront what needed to be confronted. Over a year later, as my solitude proceeds, I feel incredibly grateful I didn't run away from being alone with my Self, from listening to the calling to be alone and finally hold the safe space I'd needed to shed my Self from the attachments, illusions, traumas, etc. that'd been taking up space and blocking my clarity of who I truly am.

All the solitude and healing evolved into the most profound spiritual awakening I've experienced in my life. I have never been more grounded, more centered, more clear on my truth, my worthiness, my gifts, my divinity than I am now. So here I am, having this conversation with you, as I feel solitude is not only incredibly beautiful but incredibly necessary for those who desire to journey this life with peace of mind. Solitude is a gift you gift your Self, and it's such a special gift that will change you (in the best of ways - should you allow it to).

Topics I touch on in this conversation include:

  • my own personal seasons of solitude
  • fearing and enjoying solitude
  • acknowledging when you need to heal
  • doing shadow work
  • how solitude leads you to your true Self
  • how solitude leads you to awakening
  • why solitude is essential for the mind
  • restoring balance in your life
  • societal and cultural programmings
  • practicing energetic hygiene
  • losing your Self after experiencing loss

🎙 "This wasn't just letting go of acting in Hollywood, this was letting go of who I thought I was." - Doug Stevenson

Being in a state of transition isn't always easy, comfortable, or even desired. Sometimes we don't want to transition from where we are. Other times we have no idea where we're transitioning to. And for Doug Stevenson who recently transitioned into retirement, being in a state of transition is a state worth being present for and receptive to.

Retiring from a successful few decades of coaching Storytelling/Keynote Speakers at first felt forced upon Doug. He had planned on retiring soon but not now. However, life had other plans - as it often does. Now that Doug has settled into this new season of his life, he has had the space and time to reflect on all of his life transitions, all of the times he felt resistant to them, and just how divinely aligned they all actually were.

In this conversation, Doug and I expand on his life and all the unanswered prayers he's grateful for, all the letting go and surrendering he had to do, all the divinity that was at play, and the lessons he learned along the way. This is an inspiring and affirmative conversation for those who find themselves in the midst of unknowns and uncertainty, for those who enjoy hearing about synchronicities and happy endings, for those who need to know that all is working in their favor.

Topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • lessons for soul development
  • practicing non-attachment
  • desires of the ego
  • taking the first step
  • the importance of being vulnerable
  • having courage
  • letting go of identities
  • losing your Self
  • aligning with your soulmate/life partner
  • the healing journey

🎙️"I realized that when we are in tune with our true selves, we are in tune with Spirit. For me, now, my true Self and Spirit are one in the same." - JocelynLately I have been reflecting a lot on just how grateful I am to have simply rekindled my relationship with Spirit. I will never forget the moment I thought to myself how disconnected I felt from Spirit, from divine guidance and protection. In this moment, I was in a toxic relationship that last four years. When I finally broke off this relationship and began my healing journey, I realized why I felt so disconnected, so out of tune.

When you lose yourself the way I lost myself, you never ever want to lose yourself again and when you reawaken, you will make sure it never happens again. That moment where I acknowledged how distant I felt from the light within changed my life forever, changed my relationship with my Self and with Spirit forever.

This is a short, yet honest and impactful conversation where I expand on this moment with you and on my sincerest gratitude for having reconnected with all that is divine.

Topics we touch on in this conversation include:

  • being in tune with Spirit
  • reconnecting with your true Self
  • how we become out of alignment with the divine
  • why our relationships matter
  • how we manifest toxic relationships
  • listening to your intuition
  • gifting yourself grace in your healing journey
  • generational patterns and cycles
  • cultural and societal programming/influences

🎙 "Those moments of really just trusting and not needing to know where it's all going but knowing that my body just knows more than I can conceive with my mind... I think those have been some of the most special moments of my life." - Erin Claire Jones

Over the past couple of years, human design has grown popular as a tool for self-realization, understanding, and healing. Before then, however, human design was a concept select individuals felt called and ready to receive. Human Design Guide and Leadership Coach, Erin Claire Jones, aligned with human design in 2015. And though it took some years for Erin's passion for human design to flourish the way it is now, Erin didn't seek external validation to keep trusting herself and her calling to pursue this tool that is now assisting many.

What I love about Erin Claire's approach to human design is her emphasis on how exploring and understanding our design doesn't reveal our limitations but rather reveals how we best show up in the world. She is passionate about bringing out the leader that exists in all of us and passionate about honoring what makes us all beautifully different.

In this episode, Erin Claire and I explore her own personal (and spiritual) journey through human design and how her life has changed since it has grown in popularity. This is a beautiful conversation on trusting yourself, trusting what you feel called to pursue, and trusting divine timing.

Topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • what is human design
  • how was human design created
  • how did Erin Claire align to human design
  • choosing to trust
  • experiencing professional success
  • prioritizing your personal life
  • experiencing life changes
  • not comparing yourself to others
  • knowing what makes you different is your power
  • being your authentic self
  • being business partners with your romantic partner
  • being a spiritual/wellness entrepreneur

🎙️"More than likely, if you don’t have a good relationship with your body, you also don’t have a good relationship with your intuition." - JocelynI've spent most of my life being insecure. Within the last few years, I've grown confident in my body and therefore myself, and experiencing life with this newfound confidence has made me realize just how important it is to love and feel confident in your body. It greatly influences how you show up in the world.

At first, I gained love for and confidence in my body because I was looking and feeling stronger from the gym. After experiencing kidney stones, however, and going from the best to the worst shape of my life... my love for and confidence in my body changed.

In this episode, I share my personal journey in regards to my relationship with my body and share some words of encouragement.

🎙 "[Healing] does require someone to take the first step and that's scary." - Ana Lilia

Our souls chose our families for a reason and that reason is to assist us in learning lessons our souls need to learn so that we may heal, grow, and ascend into new cycles and higher timelines. But no healing journey is the same and when you're seemingly the only one healing in your family, it can be hard. Breathwork Coach, Ana Lilia has been investing in her healing for years now and come 2020, she experienced healing alongside her family in a way she hadn't experienced before.

Ana Lilia shares with us not only this vulnerable experience but how this experience transformed her, as well as her spiritual healing journey as a whole.

🎙️"...I feel it’s actually very healthy for us to do that, to think of and refer to ourselves in third-person because, again, it allows us to take the seat of the observer, to practice non-attachment." - JocelynReferring to myself in third person has been incredibly healing for me because it's allowed me to practice non-attachment. In referring to myself in third person, I am able to honor my expansiveness that exists beyond my humanness, I am able to acknowledge that Jocelyn is ultimately an experience I am experiencing, I am able to take the seat of the observer and witness Jocelyn's life.

A large part of my healing work in the past couple of years has revolved attachments and identities. It's been incredibly awakening (and ascending) for me to release the attachments and identities that have distanced me from my truest essence and most authentic self. This episode and episode 53 greatly expand on my thoughts and reflections regarding this part of my healing journey.

Practicing non-attachment and progressively strengthening my ability to observe my thoughts, my life, my being without attaching myself to them has made me increasingly honor, appreciate, and love experiencing Jocelyn. It's become clearer and clearer to me just how special not only I am but we all are in our fleeting, miraculous existence in this lifetime. I pray this episode inspire you to cherish yourself and see yourself in a new, enlightening way.
Topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • symptoms of spiritual awakening
  • the honor of experiencing the Self
  • how we are a once in a lifetime
  • practicing being the observer of your life
  • practicing non-attachment
  • how speaking in third person helps practice non-attachment
  • healing codependency

🎙 "It's all possible. It's just about how are you gonna get in the right room, how are you gonna allow that room to give you the key, and then what do you do with the key once you have it." - Ben Hagarty

Grammy-Winning Director (he won that Grammy with Beyoncé by the way) and Black with No Cream (BWNC) Community Founder, Ben Hagarty, has been passionate about creating art with a camera for over a decade. Six years ago, he made his move to Los Angeles to take this passion further and make it his profession. Since then, legendary work has been made and Ben has been making a living off of his passion. 🎙️"When we identify with these societal and cultural and overall human identities, we are not only our limiting our perception but limiting the abundance and expansiveness of who and what we truly are." - JocelynInitially... this episode was going to be dedicated to my expression of gratitude for experiencing Jocelyn - and yes, I mean to say that in third person. But for many to truly understand what I mean by this, what I mean by me being grateful to experience Jocelyn's personality, Jocelyn's soul development, Jocelyn's journey... I had to have this conversation with you about identities.

A huge aspect of my most recent, significant spiritual awakening was "identity work." I invested time and energy into really observing and contemplating societal and cultural and overall human identities and how they influence us in how we show up in the world. Long story short, our identities are our limitations.

There's more I have to expand into in regards to this and who we truly are but I am excited to share with you my current outlook, understandings, and reflections in this episode.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • what a spiritual awakening is
  • how spiritual awakenings impact us
  • societal and cultural programmings
  • who we truly are and who we truly are not
  • expanding our perceptions
  • identities and the standards/expectations they come with
  • self-liberation
  • becoming the observer of our thoughts
  • creating the idea of separation
  • understanding oneness
  • reinventing ourselves
  • healing relationships

🎙 "Tell me who you kick it with and I'll tell you who you are." - Enkrypt

The journey from the streets to Head IT Technician of one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world to touring Photographer/Videographer and successful Film Director wasn't an easy nor linear path for Enkrypt but she made it happen. And now, in this season of her life, Enkrypt feels like she's finally made it to point where it's truly, consistently only up from here.

The rock bottom 2020 left many freelance creatives in hit Enkrypt but determined to find a way, she used her last dollars to drop a retail collection that brought forth the momentum she needed to get back on her feet. From there, Enkrypt became inspired to sharpen her networking skills to make the most out of every set she stepped on, which definitely contributed to her experiencing the most successful year of her life in 2021 - not only professionally but spiritually and emotionally, too, which we discuss in this episode.

The core of this conversation is ultimately all about not giving up on yourself, alchemizing the lows into highs, and knowing that all unfolds in divine order.

The main topics we touch on in this conversation include (but are not limited to):

  • developing your own personal relationship with God
  • experiencing success and how success changes your life
  • not attaching yourself to temporary seasons
  • having a hustle-mentality
  • the inevitable highs and lows of life

🎙️"We may lose touch with our hearts but our hearts never lose touch with us." - JocelynLet's talk about the breakup heartbreaks I've experienced and how I've chosen to heal from them. Trigger warning... I do bring up a toxic relationship and how I experienced abuse but I don't go into detail, I simply bring it up! As difficult as each breakup heartbreak was in its own unique way, I am sincerely so grateful for each of them because they all contributed to who I am today. I mention in this episode that I feel it was less of me healing my heartbreaks and more so my heartbreaks healing me. I, also, mention that I don't necessarily believe in heartbreaks. Tune in to hear why...

In the midst of each breakup heartbreak, I honestly had my moment where I wasn't sure how I'd recover but I did. And I'm sure many of you have experienced this, too. I express that in our heartbreaks, we have two choices - to close ourselves off due to fear or to open ourselves up even more. I've always chosen to open up, and for that I am so grateful.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • the three breakups I've experienced
  • how each breakup was uniquely difficult to recover from
  • choosing to thrive from heartbreak
  • experiencing a toxic relationship
  • healing from brokenness
  • not getting clarity or closure
  • why I don't believe in heartbreak

🎙 "You have to live life to tell films." - Sade Ndya

Moving with intention will get you far and Sade Ndya - a young, deservingly successful cinematographer recently signed to The Gersh Agency - is a prime example. It's less about becoming represented by an agency, though, and more about fostering meaningful relationships and saying yes to the projects that genuinely, creatively excite you.

Sade never waited for opportunity to come to her. She began creating films as a student and at just 19-years-old, created her own freelance production company called The Red Futon. To no surprise, experiencing a growth spurt of success just a couple of years later not only catapulted her career but, also, her confidence in what she brings to the table.

Being young, black, and a woman on set with a big role is an adjustment for many in the film industry, especially those who've been around for a while. Sade knows this and she shares with us how she's learned to set aside her ego and why it's important to cultivate community.

This is an inspiring conversation with a motivated, up-and-coming cinematographer who's changing the industry and impacting many - one set at a time. If you're interested in film, aspire to break into a creative field, feel like you're against the norm, are calling in success, and/or are simply seeking to be motivated - this episode is for you.

🎙️"Now I know that I can unconditionally love someone without sacrificing my love of Self." - JocelynUnconditional love is greatly misunderstood. And this misunderstanding has caused so many of us to attract and remain in unhealthy relationship dynamics. We believe that because we unconditionally love someone, we must accept the harm they may cause us. This is not true. We believe that if we set a boundary with someone we unconditionally love, we love them less. This is not true. Unconditional love does not require of you to dishonor your Self! You can unconditionally love someone with boundaries.

In this episode, I express my gratitude for not only knowing and more greatly understanding (healthy) unconditional love but also for experiencing unconditional love as I change. I know so many of us have recently awakened to who truly (unconditionally) loves us in all our seasons, in all our versions. These people are special, special.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • understanding true love
  • practicing (healthy) unconditional love
  • accepting others as they are
  • loving with boundaries
  • being loved as we grow and evolve
  • the importance of self-love
  • "the track of love, the track of fear"

As spirituality grows popular, so does our need to practice discernment and respect for indigenous practices and ancient traditions. In a society and culture where quick fixes gain attention and instant gratification, it is important we remember that healing takes time, returning home to our true selves takes time, unlearning and relearning takes time. Holy Guardian, Sovereign, Lakȟóta-Norse Myranda Bennett and I expand on what reclaiming our sovereignty looks like, (especially during these times), the importance of doing shadow work first (before coming into and offering your gifts), and integrating the lessons and modalities that unfold along the way.

Myranda Bennett is the owner of Boundless Warrior and is also a High Priestess, Ritual Master, and Qabalist. Having been "doing the work" for over 20 years, Myranda is passionate in guiding others in their healing and remembering, whilst using her platform to shed light and educate others on dismantling programming, healing ancestral wounds, and fostering belief in self medicine.

In this conversation we learn more about Myranda's journey of being lost and found, experiencing death and rebirth as she restructures her life in a way that honors her divine path and purpose.

The main topics we touch on in this episode include:

  • experiencing spiritual awakening
  • the journey of healing and remembrance
  • having a spiritual foundation
  • doing shadow work and manifestation work
  • bringing balance to our perception of manifestation
  • integrating the medicine before offering it
  • knowing what your own unique medicine is
  • reclaiming our sovereignty

🎙️"There are no healthy relationships without truth and therefore, there are no healthy relationships without hard conversations." - JocelynIn the last conversation between you and I, I expressed my gratitude for my willingness and how willingness changed my life. One willingness I am especially grateful for is my willingness (and honestly eagerness) to have hard, honest conversations. There's so much to unpack when it comes to hard conversations. In this episode, we are unpacking quite a bit.

Our avoidance in having hard conversations runs deep. It's not only familial but cultural and societal, too. A lot of it has to do with us growing up and progressively hiding our true selves, therefore becoming uncomfortable with the truth. A lot of it also has to do with being programmed to believe certain topics are wrong to talk about (aka taboo). I touch on both of these things in this conversation (and more) and I pray that you leave this episode feeling inspired in some way, shape, or form.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • how hard conversations are honest conversations
  • how hard conversations contribute to healthy living/healthy relationships
  • the importance of safe spaces
  • inner-child healing
  • generational healing
  • how there's no escaping the truth
  • taboo topics
  • talking about death

Coming into 2020, Licensed Psychologist Dr. Lydiana Garcia had a gut feeling to step back, retreat from the world, and begin pouring into her own cup. Following this gut feeling marked the beginning of a new journey for Dr. Garcia that has since sprouted the inspiration to question societal programmings, reflect on her own ancestral cycles, shift how she is showing up in the world, and acknowledge the ways she can begin investing her energy more wisely.

Aware that feeling shame and guilt have no place in healing, Dr. Garcia has been allowing herself to journey through this transformational season of her life with grace as she transitions into her 40s and does so at her own divine pace. No more rushing to do it all at once and get it all done now.

This conversation encourages trusting your intuition, divine timing, and the little steps forward that contribute to a greater vision.

Topics we touch on in this episode include:

  • turning 40
  • reflecting on how you've been spending your life
  • motherhood
  • observing the ancestral cycles of restlessness and hyper-independence
  • survival mode
  • scarcity-based mindset
  • connecting with your ancestors

🎙️"...I came to the knowing that it was and has been and continues to be my willingness that is largely responsible for my growth, for my transformation, for my ascension." - JocelynWhat are you willing to do? Who are you willing to be? And why?

If willingness were a job, I think it would be thankless. And by that I mean... I feel willingness doesn't get the gratitude or credit it deserves for the power it has in changing our lives! For years I've emphasized how (conscious) awareness is the first step towards growth without acknowledging that the first step towards (conscious) awareness is willingness. In order to become (consciously) aware, we have to be willing to become (consciously) aware.

In this episode, I express my sincerest gratitude for my willingness because it truly has changed my life. I am grateful I've been willing love again (and again) after heartbreak. I am grateful for the risks I've been willing to take to arrive to my successes because I believe in myself. I am grateful to have been willing to become aware of and confront my shadows because it has led to so much healing. We deserve to acknowledge our willingness because without it, where would we be?

🎙️"If you are intentional, if your heart is in the right place, and you're putting in the effort, the outcome will always be in your favor. 🎙️"I am no longer quick to plant seeds. I am no longer rushed to grow them." - JocelynThis episode is my thank you letter to 2021 and all it's gifted me. This year I became a wiser student and gardener. I expand on this in my letter - as well as how this year was a foundational year, one that I know will contribute to my success for many years (and lifetimes) to come.

I pray this episode not only inspires you to write your own thank you letter to 2021 but I pray you also resonate with at least one of my expressions of gratitude. May this episode feel like a deep breath that accompanies you through the transition into the new year and sincerely encourages you to be proud of yourself.

Welcome to the Starting with Gratitude podcast! This is a safe space intended to host heart-centered conversations exploring all topics of the human and spiritual experience.

At a time where so many of us are returning back home to our authentic selves, committing to our healing, exploring the spiritual path, aspiring to fulfill our soul purpose and undergoing transformation because of it all, I know it’s important that we not only hold more safe spaces for unfiltered conversations like this but also practice gratitude.

Consistently and intentionally practicing gratitude myself for years now has completely impacted the way I respond to life. Not only do I firmly believe there is always something to be grateful for but I also firmly believe that when we grow intimate with the feeling tone of gratefulness we are growing intimate with our true essence. We are strengthening our ability to see and feel the divine at any given moment.

Before I dive into my conversations with our guests in this podcast, I ask them to share with us what they currently feel grateful for. When it’s a conversation between you and I, I also start our conversations with gratitude. So, should you choose to join this community, I am going to encourage you to do the same. Before pressing play on an episode or as you listen to the expressions of gratitude shared in every episode, take a moment to pause and ask yourself what it is you feel grateful for. Let’s truly start every conversation with gratitude - together. If you feel called, feel free to share your gratitude with us by calling our gratitude hotline.

For Savannah Britt, Founder of The Brittprint Agency, this year has left her feeling proud of herself for growing through the highs and the lows. 🎙️"I think one reason why we are so fearful of feeling our emotions is because we fear that we are going to become them." - JocelynWhat if we could feel our emotions without becoming them? Well, we can. We don't have to become what we feel. We can simply feel what we feel and acknowledge that what we are feeling is an experience, not an identity.

In our last one-on-one conversation where I expressed my gratitude for allowing myself to feel my emotions, I touched on how grateful I am to respond to my emotions the way I do. In this episode, I expand on that a bit more and share a recent experience I had where I got triggered by a show and found myself getting consumed by my emotions, which then manifested into getting consumed by my thoughts. I share what I changed when I caught myself getting consumed and overpowered and why it's important that we shift our response when we catch ourselves experiencing our emotions in this way.

We can have a healthy relationship with our feelings. There is a way for us to feel without those feelings becoming all of what and who we are. There is a way for us to fearlessly welcome our emotions, knowing they have something important to express.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • responding to triggers in a healthy way
  • crying is an energetic and physical release your body asks you for
  • asking ourselves what we identify with and why
  • denying how we feel and accepting how we feel
  • getting overpowered by our emotions and consumed by our thoughts
  • witnessing your life experiences rather than becoming them
  • the power of awareness
  • gifting ourselves grace

🎙️"You choosing to suppress an emotion is actually you choosing to hold onto it." - JocelynIt truly is so wild how we as a collective have created the response to suppress our emotions - for generations - thinking that suppressing our emotions make them go away. This could not be more wrong. As quoted above, us choosing to suppress our emotions is us choosing to keep them. When we suppress them, they don't disappear - they become blocked in our system and cause dysfunction in our lives.

We are emotional bodies! When we have an unhealthy relationship with our emotions and the way in which we respond to them, we manifest an unhealthy body. Emotions are energy in motion. We must allow them to flow. This episode was definitely channeled by the divine and just felt like what I was/am meant to speak on at this time. I hope those of you who tune in feel seen and inspired by what I share. May this lead you towards a healthier relationship with your emotions.

The main topics I touch on in this episode include:

  • the importance of allowing yourself to feel
  • why suppressing our emotions causes dysfunction
  • mind, body, spirit are all interconnected
  • being in a toxic relationship that manifested emotional suppression and sickness
  • why our emotions are a gift

🎙️"Once you move past the fear of vulnerability... it's gorgeous." - Junae BrownJunae Brown's expression of gratitude for the power of forgiveness and self-awareness led to an episode on acknowledging both sides of every story, on acknowledging that we are all human, and (ultimately) on acknowledging the importance of acknowledging. We are all healing from something and we all require different needs to progress our healing journey, so how do we navigate this world of much needed healing? How do we maintain a healthy Self and healthy relationships?

It's important to note that you show up as your best Self when you prioritize showing up for your Self, when you prioritize being curious about yourself with the intention to gain Self-awareness. The first step towards any kind of growth... is awareness. Junae and I expand on this, as well as the importance of celebrating the seemingly simplicity of awareness - amongst other important topics revolving mindfulness of this human experience.

Junae Brown is the "Beyoncé of Marketing". She is the Founder of Browned 2 Perfection, which is a creative marketing and events company that helps clients establish brand DNA and tap into their true target audience. You can follow Junae for marketing tips and inspirational Tweets here.

Some of the main topics we touch on in this episode include:

  • the power of forgiveness
  • the importance of self-forgiveness
  • how self-awareness helps every aspect of your life
  • being curious about your way of being
  • leadership and wellness
  • acknowledging feelings
  • apology languages are worth learning about like love languages
  • being solution-oriented
  • how the relationships around us matter
  • allowing yourself to be cared for
  • marketing wellness

🎙️ "The way that someone is able to show up for others is a reflection of the way that they are able to show up for themselves." - JocelynLet's express gratitude for the awareness of what a safe space looks and feels like, as well as the capacity to hold space space for self and others. The topic of safe spaces has come up for me frequently recently and I thought of how impactful it would be if each and every single one of us sincerely felt like we had a safe space to turn to in our lives. So, let's talk about what a safe space is, why they're healing, and how we can begin to cultivate more of them!

🎙️"...falling in love with the concept of trusting the unknown is really making life exciting right now." - Laura GrantThere are three healing and awakening truths that really came into the forefront of my journey this past year and are highlighted in this episode: one, healing our relationships with our parents is important, two, looking at your relationships through the lens of mirror reflections is enlightening, and three, acknowledging we all have both masculine and feminine energies within us is necessary for our ascension.

Aligning with Laura Grant's work during my twin flame journey and my spiritual awakening this past year was an alignment I needed to affirm I was on the right path, specifically by deciding to turn inward. In this conversation, we are going in-depth on what both wounded and healthy masculine and feminine energies look like, as well as what it looks like to balance these energies and how it impacts the world around us. This is a MUST LISTEN episode for anyone curious about these energies and/or about the twin flame union.

Laura Grant is a Masculine and Feminine Energy Teacher and Intuitive Coach providing relationship and purpose guidance. You may learn more about Laura here.

Some of the main topics we touch on in this episode include:

  • balancing the masculine and feminine energy within us
  • the twin flame journey, union, and significance
  • healing codependency and awakening interdependent relationships
  • acknowledging the link between woundedness and child development
  • seeing the blueprint of our karmic cycles and ancestral loops within us
  • seeing our personal journey reflect in the collective journey

🎙️ "There's a big emphasis on 'it's not what you know, it's who you know' but you also have to have something to offer." - SebastianExperiencing sunshine after a season of drought is always a special moment and our guest, Sebastian Rodriguez, is in this moment now. 2020 was tough for freelancers and business owners. And the absence of a career that took up so much space in your identity will lead you to question yourself and how you invested your time. In this conversation, we touch on Sebastians awakening during 2020 and how he's approaching life moving forward now that his career is seeing the light of day again (and he allowed the self-doubt to teach him).

Sebastian is a successful concert photographer and member of the youth automotive culture (both as a drifter and photographer). So, we get into both industries and how each has influenced Sebastian's current state of self-awareness. You can explore more of his work here.

Some of the other topics we touch on include:

  • not imposing limitations on yourself
  • importance of building community
  • evolving into increased self-awareness
  • needing passion to experience long-term success
  • overcoming self-doubt
  • experiencing a long-distance relationship

🎙️ "Because I have the conscious awareness, I have the resources, I have the energy to invest in my healing, and I have the willingness to open myself up to all that that healing comes with, then, it's my responsibility to take action on making sure that these cycles don't continue." - JocelynBlessings community,Let's express gratitude on all the ways we are breaking generational cycles that come with destructive patterns we know don't serve us and we know we don't want to continue in our lives and in our lineage! In this episode I am sharing five ways I am currently breaking these generational cycles, so this is a great conversation for any of you who are also in this journey or are curious about what "breaking generational cycles" looks like.

The main topics I touch on include:

  • Allowing yourself to feel so that you may heal
  • Expressing your truth(s) and unlearning the programming of hiding your truth(s)
  • Setting boundaries and changing your perspective on boundaries
  • Believing that a life surrounded only by healthy relationships is possible
  • Confronting codependency
  • Acknowledging the ways you yourself have been toxic
  • Journeying your healing with grace and compassion
  • Healing and processing healing doesn't look the same on everyone

🎙️ "The road less traveled has more grip." - Hef's DadBlessings community,Have you ever experienced a season that made you so uncomfortable you almost called it quits on your dreams, your goals, your efforts? Have you ever manifested a dream and then realized it's not what you thought it'd be? Have you ever had a gut feeling that you needed to pave your own path, even though it came with uncertainties?

Well, if any of those questions resonate with you then you'll definitely enjoy this honest and inspiring conversation with Director of A&R for 10K Projects (a successful, independent music record label), Dilan "Hef" Ames.

Not long ago Hef was at a crossroads in the career of his dreams and almost called it quits but now that he's in a position to look back at that season, he is grateful he reminded himself of his worth, his passion, and his ability to succeed. This experience came with many lessons, all of which we discuss in this episode.

Some of the other topics we touch on include the importance of being a good person, pursuing a path less traveled, knowing you are enough, trusting the unfolding of your journey, not taking someone else's projections onto you personal, having a purpose, and more.

🌻 "My self-evolution will bring about new versions of me that others may not be interested in or may no longer be able to relate to, and that's okay."

We are currently living in a time where a lot of truths are becoming unearthed, where a lot of truths are making themselves known to us. These truths are about the state of our world, about the society we live in, about our communities, about the people we are in relation to, and about ourselves. Some of these truths require radical acceptance and THIS is what we are diving into in this episode.

The other day I had a moment where I realized my studies and practice on surrender and acceptance are already impacting my life. This moment inspired me to write down some truths I've recently accepted (some that took longer to accept than others) and I am excited to share them with you with the intention to encourage you to be more accepting in your own life, regardless of how your life unfolds.

"Slowing down is an act of self-love." - Manoj DiasSlowing down feels hard to do at times. Committing to your evolution feels hard to do at times. Allowing yourself to feel certain emotions feels hard to do at times. And in this episode, we remain honest about the practices that ultimately lead to us becoming our more accepting and mindful selves.

As honest as this conversation is, it is also soft, calm, and incredibly relatable for many of us experiencing transition and awakening in our lives.

Manoj Dias, our special guest, is a mindful speaker, meditation teacher, published author, and founder. In 2015 he founded Australia's first multidisciplinary drop-in meditation studio called A-SPACE, which was later acquired by Open, where Manoj is the co-founder and ultimately led him to migrate to Los Angeles.

Earlier this year (in March 2021), Manoj gifted the world his first book titled "Still Together." You may browse and purchase the book here.

Having experienced significant and pivotal moments in recent seasons, Manoj and I discuss navigating these changes and remaining grounded through the journey. Other topics we touch on include surrendering, meditation, Buddhist wisdom, startup culture, fatherhood, witnessing, and more!

"Each of us is here to discover our true self." - Deepak Chopra

The upcoming Leo New Moon and Lions Gate Portal (August 8th, 2021) has me tuning into the collective energy of (increasingly) being called back to self. As I pondered on what contributes to us returning home to ourselves, to us discovering our most authentic selves, I immediately thought - exploration.

How does one expect to find oneself without exploration? It is one of the main attributes to my greatest awakenings and most fulfilling accomplishments.

I encourage you to explore and I hope this episode inspires you!

"We are all spiritual beings, even if we're not aware of it."A conversation rooted in honoring ourselves and our awakening, as well as overall returning home to ourselves, this episode is expansive on the spiritual journey.

Our special guest, Mia Luckey, honestly and gracefully shares her story of unfolding into her truth and becoming intimate with her higher self. Mia is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master, Intuitive Guide, and Certified Past Life Facilitator. Recently, she invested further and leaned deeper into her gifts by opening a holistic healing spa. You may learn more about her spa here and follow her journey here.

Having remained dedicated and consistent in remaining grounded in her conscious awareness and enlightened state of being, we gain insight on implementing energetic hygiene, the practice of loving acceptance, and the evolution behind tower moments. We also touch on feeling unwavering peace, letting go of friendships, discovering our gifts, beginning with our roots, and much more goodness.

"What is meant to be comes with ease. Remind yourself that."

I have been acknowledging the peace I currently feel and reflecting on what has contributed to this peace. Almost exactly a year ago, I was going through a lot of sudden shifts and unexpected changes that honestly led to am emotional (and spiritual) breakdown.

Looking back at this time, I realize that the moment I decided to (finally) surrender to the flow of these shifts and changes was the moment I chose peace, too. It was in my resistance where my fear cultivated.

In this episode, I am expressing gratitude for choosing to surrender, practicing surrender, and holding space to share a bit on my thoughts and reflections on surrender.

If you find yourself in a season of resistance, in a moment of fearing the unknown, I am encouraging you to surrender to the flow of life and of change! Choose faith over fear. Choose to believe that all is working in your favor and for your highest good. Know in your heart that what is meant for you does not cause dysfunction in any light of the word.

Camila Casanas honors food as the foundation of all health. And her journey towards becoming a Holistic Chef and Herbal Medicine Maker serves as her testimony.

We touch and expand on this purposeful journey, as well as exchange stories on the awakening of body communication, transforming our relationships with food, and acknowledging play as healing.

The knowledge of herbalism influenced Camila to reconnect "with the rhythms of the Earth" and work with the seasons to inform the way she moves through the world. Transitioning out of Spring, Camila allowed herself to defrost from an intense Winter (a year-long Winter that we collectively experienced). In the midst of Summer, Camila is harvesting and making the most out of daylight.

An episode rooted in self-healing and conscious awareness, topics we touch on include: being the observer rather than the absorber, awakening to rest, learning attachment styles, experiencing body trauma, and more.

You can follow Camila's journey here and explore her work here.

"When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter say thank you and grow." - Shauna Niequist

It's your host, Jocelyn! and I have some important updates for you regarding the future of this podcast. You can expect to not only hear more from our incredible special guests and their inspiring stories but also from me :)

The episodes that do not feature a guest will be shorter and will touch on my own personal stories, current reflections, and topics I feel called to share at the time. My intention is to offer you some pep talks and some real talk. These episodes will be shorter (just like this one), so I'm excited to offer you a bit more diversity in length and conversation.

In light of this being the first episode solely featuring me, I wanted to share a bit on my thoughts on gratitude. I hope you felt a gem here and there.

The life experiences we as a collective and as individuals have endured over the course of this past year have been challenging and awakening all at once. As duality reflects itself in all life, through the tough moments, some beautiful faces and spaces have arisen.

One of those faces and (safe) spaces is Jonathan Singletary's weekly "Piano and Prayer" that continues to consistently take place every Monday evening on Instagram Live. You can follow Jonathan here to make sure you don't miss the next one!

As an active attendee in his space, I am so excited and honored to bring Jonathan as a guest on this podcast to discuss following your calling, being in the present moment to receive it (and receive more), as well as the beauty of all that is prayer.

Some other topics we touch on include: feeling disconnected to Spirit, what it means to be pure vessel/channel, how tuning into breath benefits us, pushing the boundaries of comfort, what unconditional love looks like, and more!

As mentioned in the beginning of the episode, Jonathan's recent single "Never Like This" featuring Adeline has a stunning music video starring Lupita Nyong'o I highly recommend you watch! Check it out here and make sure to subscribe to Jonathan's intentional journey.

Commonly known as social media's most outspoken supporter of this generation's interest in hoodoo and astrology, in this episode, we are having a conversation with Witchdoctoralex. We are in the midst of a Lunar Eclipse, as well as Retrograde season, so we definitely touch on that but, overall, we are talking all things spiritual.

As someone who has openly been in the "spiritual" space for years now, we get to know how Witchdoctoralex's journey as an astrologer, reader, and diviner began and what has conspired in his path (as well as in the general spiritual space) since.

If you find yourself in the midst of a tower moment (a life-changing, awakening, and perhaps incredibly difficult, season), you'll definitely enjoy this conversation as we define the tower moments in our own lives and what we learned looking back.

Some other topics we discuss include: spiritual warfare, Saturn Returns, death, cancel culture, spiritualists, and navigating life changes.

In addition to overcoming, this conversation touches on navigating this world as an empath, letting go of the responsibility to end all generational trauma, acknowledging the importance of shadow work, and more spiritual topics.

You can learn more about Rocio here and follow her here.

A conversation between friends, Travis Phillips, most commonly known as Yoh (one of thee best writers in the game), and I catch up on the life changes and life reflections that sprouted over the course of the past year. We touch on reconnecting (and redefining) our relationship with spirituality, as well as making sure to prioritize stillness as we continue to journey forward.

Yoh's current pinned tweet quotes, "Occasionally you have to tear it all apart and start over." And this conversation is partly rooted in trusting your process and having faith, in addition to the importance of being present enough to acknowledge the divinity and see the signs (aka alignments).

It is clear in Yoh's articulation and essence that he is a passionate and dedicated writer, as he so fluidly expresses his thoughts and experiences with us. If you are already a fan of Yoh's work, you will love gaining this personal perspective of Yoh. And if you're not yet aware of this highly-respected writer, in this episode, you will become a genuine fan of Yoh as an overall human.

Other topics we touch on include: self-confrontation, books, pirates and farmers, being a creative, tuning into and learning from nature, taking leaps of faith, divine timing, and much more goodness!

For creatives like Dewey Saunders, art truly is life. From making collages to designing album covers to (recently) launching a clothing brand called Comfort Club, Dewey's day-to-day is nothing short of an artist at play. So how does an artist like Dewey remain inspired to create?

"Create with intention, scale with strategy" is one of many tweets I heart by Kai Miller, a woman who is unsubscribing from hustle culture and subscribing to the full embodiment of self.

We are in a time of needing instant gratification, being faced with a saturation of temporary content, and feeling pressured to the point of comparison. For Kai, this is no more. As we discuss leading a life of intention and tapping into your true (expansive) self, unlearning many of these societal (and capitalistic) structures is a topic to face.

In this episode we touch on the importance of (personal and professional) intention, building a brand that lasts, the beauty of being multifaceted, and prioritizing self-care - whatever that looks like.

We're all familiar with it... that transitional space between who you were and who you are becoming. A space in which you are shedding the old and still unfolding the new. "The cocoon phase" as our very special guest Ashley "Outrageous" Ocampo calls it.

Ashley is currently in the midst of this transition, personally and professionally (re)shaping her foundation, her lifestyle, and her being. As she begins to fully embrace (and eventually expand on) artist management and express that shift to the world, she is making sure the management first-and-foremost begins with herself.

Known for her legendary blogging days, which then led her to some major power plays in the music industry including working with TDE, change isn't foreign for Ashley. A woman with many hats, her career has seemingly fluidly gone through its own evolution. The evolvement she's already experienced has allowed her to acknowledge, accept, and have the willingness to explore the self-work she is doing now.

You can learn more about Ashley here and follow her here.

This episode explores the cocoon phase, as we hear from someone who is in the midst of it now. What does it look like? How does it feel? What realizations have become known?

Motherhood, running a business, and adjusting to how you show up in different seasons of your life are three highlights of this beautiful conversation with Zoila Darton. She is one of those women you witness and ask, "How does she do it all?" and "What can't she do?"

Another conversation between kindred spirits, Tiana Bryant is a contagious light of gentleness, understanding, and genuine kindness. We have been following each other on socials for a while and we always felt called to each other's energy and spirit, as if we'd already known each other as good friends. This is our very first full conversation and I am so grateful for it and for Tiana's vulnerability to share her experience, her awareness, and her perspective.

You may follow Tiana and her journey @tianabrynt on Instagram :)

In this episode, we discuss topics including but not limited to: what is Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and Tiana's experience with it, coping with depression and anxiety, overcoming intrusive thoughts and what they look like, ritualizing self-care, the importance of exploring your body and understanding your emotions, taking medicinal microdoses of psilocybin (shrooms), and more.

I, myself, learned so much from this conversation and as I continue to listen to it over and over again, I am led to self-inquiry in gentle and expansive ways. I hope you are led to (self)discovery, as well.

If you feel you are experiencing PMDD, I encourage you to dive into more research and consult with your doctor if you are able! If you are experiencing depression and/or anxiety, gentle reminder that you are not your thoughts and you are very much so loved and purposeful. Please try to seek out a safe space with a loved one and express yourself.

All that is mentioned in this episode is rooted in personal experience. Consult a professional, as needed.
