Dustin and Tonya get real, raw and vulnerable in this podcast about marriage and relationships. After almost 13 years of marriage they have come to realize God has a special calling on their lives. -To be leaders in marriage -To be a beacon of hope -To show others that they can make it through anything with God on their side God created the marriage of 2 souls becoming 1 so that HE could bring the best out of each person, So that you always had someone to talk things over with, walk things through with, and help each other along with all the tests of life Tune in we are going to cover it all!
Today we shared our experiences of traveling and the lessons we learn when opening ourselves up to being uncomfortable more often. Although travel can be fun, it's the unknown, the open road, and the newness that makes it exciting. Uncomfortable and exciting lets us ride the razor's edge of life and enjoy every mile, smile, and place from the road.

In this very real and raw conversation about mental health and Dustin's struggle with depression and darkness, Tonya and him uncover all of his darkest moments. As well as how he keeps his mental health in check the best he can. They speak about suicide, how it almost took his life, and what he does today to avoid it at all costs. Mental health is a serious topic and we wanted to let everyone know they are not alone. We hope this message reaches those who need to hear it. If you get something from this please share it with someone you think could find value in it as well.

A couples therapist, Susan Campbell wrote a book called the couple's Journey. In it, she states there are 5 stages in relationships. Today, Tonya and I give our interpretation of the 5 stages and do a deep dive into our own experience with it thus far and how we have gotten to where we are today. After just celebrating our 14th anniversary yesterday, this was a perfect topic for us to cover, as well as share some of our darkest and hardest challenges and what it has taken to get where we are now in our marriage. This was probably our best episode yet, and we believe that if you can establish where you are in the 5 stages, and figure out what it would take to get to the next stage it would change your marriage forever.

Since selling all of our stuff and hitting the road in 2017, needing to let go of stuff has been a big part of our life. It has come with many challenges as well as so much freedom. It has been an ebb and flow process where each time or each situation has taught us different lessons and shown us we could let go of even more. One thing is for sure in this world, and that is nothing is permanent, so being at least willing to let go of the things you have, the beliefs, the ideologies, the programming, and seeing that it is okay is a big deal. In this episode, we dive deep into our story and share a bunch of nuggets when it comes to letting go. Sit down, tune in, and hold tight. This one is a Boat Burner 🤣. We're back, and we're better than ever! Dustin and Tonya 2.0 is up and running and came out the gate with this first episode spitting fire. Dustin and Tonya discuss much of why their truth and honesty got them to where they are now in their marriage. They got vulnerable and shared the things they had struggled with. They shared the good and the bad and how they worked through it. This was an excellent opener to season 2. If you liked season 1, season 2 will be even better.

Being perfect is impossible, but in today's world, I believe it is something many of us face or try to keep up with from not leaving the house unless we are entirely put together or sharing a post unless it is edited, photoshopped, and to the 9's, or sharing anything personal because it would put off an idea that you don't have it all together. News Flash, YOU DON'T HAVE IT ALTOGETHER. That said, we dive into the realness of having days where everything is not perfect, which is okay. We are human; we aren't meant to be perfect. We are all roaming around trying to figure this life out, which is messy. So sit down, let your hair down, roll your shoulders back, take a deep breath, and tune in; this might be the permission you need to let go a bit.

Today we dive into a topic that is near and dear to us and has been a big part of our lives in the last few years. Always looking to challenge ourselves, either as individuals or as a couple. Physically, mentally, spiritually, financially, you name it we are always striving to be uncomfortable and to set the standard for life. From selling everything we own to fitness challenges, to living and traveling full time in a school bus, to helping friends build their businesses a great deal, we have constantly been uncomfortable. We have also noticed that it is the recipe that takes us to the next level. Look there is nothing wrong with good, but for us, we want more out of life and we have found we have to get uncomfortable, take chances, and say yes to opportunities that otherwise would be something we would pass up, all in the name of expansion and growth for us and our future. Our experiences are what shape who we are and what we are capable of, and most times those experiences are going to be a little uncomfortable. So dive in, and see if you are needing to push the comfort needle out of the safe zone and into the challenge zone.

Wow, what an incredible message this week ended up being. As we dive into how God has strengthened our relationship, it was beautiful to see that we both felt our hearts open up and pour out all the goodness in this podcast. Tonya laid it all out there for the world to hear from her perspective, and I let it rip as well. Being able to be open and vulnerable on such a complex topic is precisely why we started this podcast and are going to continue to speak from the heart and go more open instead of the rigidity we started with. Thank you all for your support as we continue to figure this out and provide accurate, vulnerable content from two people in the fight with you. We appreciate yall and thank you for listening. Today we jump into the deep end and share our perspectives on it. Sit down, grab some popcorn and tune in. You're in for a ride for sure.

Today we dive into a topic that we believe is often misunderstood. You see, we all have been taught to believe that love is squishy and squeaky clean and it is. But it is also hard, trying, and truthful. They say, "the truth hurts" and it's for a reason. Usually because someone is speaking from the heart and loving you so much that it is something you have to hear for your true growth. And that is love too. Speaking from the heart, sharing everything and being ok with doing so is pure love, not only for yourself but also for your partner and all those around you. Love is all the light and the dark, all the heavy and the light, the good and the bad and being able to experience the entire spectrum of love makes it all the more beautiful. Today we jump into the deep end and share our perspective on all of it. Sit down, grab some popcorn and tune in. You're in for a ride for sure.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 A time to be quiet and a time to speak
This weekend Tonya and I headed out in our bus to the lake to get some nature and some quiet time in. For us we have been running and gunning for awhile now and sometimes we get so hell bent on change and growth and more and more that we forget to take a second and make sure we are still on track with our mission and continuing to define what we want for our lives. So we did what we do best, packed minimally, went to the lake with zero plans other than to get quiet, listen, and talk amongst ourselves and our God as to what we want our lives to be. Easier said then done.
First, in order to get quiet we had to eliminate the noise of everyday life. social media, television, work, church, friends, family etc. What we got in touch with was our hearts, our thoughts and our emotions. We swam, we sun bathed, we walked bare foot, listened to peaceful music, nature and each other, we read, we prayed and we napped. Man it was really needed
So when we headed out we set an intention for the weekend (coerced from a coach of ours) and came up with a plan to define our Purposeful Happiness. Wow that is a big question to answer. So we spent the rest of the weekend working front to back, side to side, back to front, and in between all the way through and back again.
What is happiness to us?
What does it mean to be purposeful?
What do we want our lives to look like?
How will we serve, steward, and sow well?
and on and on and on
What we came up with was just the tip of the iceberg and we will continue to dig deeper at all things Purposeful Happiness for us. Speaking of diving in, dive in to this weeks episode and hear what all came about, and how you can do this exercise too. Let us know what you think and be sure and give us your feedback and a follow so we can stay in touch.

Today we cover our perspective of a 12 week course we just finished with our church called FREEDOM. What an amazing experience it was for both of us to not only get a better understanding of God, but also an idea of how things from our past, sins, and choices we have made, as well as how things that have happened to us have affected our lives in many different ways. The topics during the course were:
Pride and mammon
Rejection
Fear
Purity
Abuse
Shame
Anger
And we shared why we chose to take the course, our biggest take aways and lessons and how they ultimately can and will impact our lives and maybe yours as well going forward.

Today we dive into one of the topics yall wanted us to cover, How to be your individual self in a marriage. We dove into several different conversation pieces but ultimately it comes down to this:
-We started out with our similarities that brought us together, but then from there we each had our own personality and flare that we brought to the relationship
-Along the way we have realized that our creativity and uniqueness has helped us to develop ourselves as individuals
-Then together we have helped each other hone in on who we are, bringing out the best of each person to be an addition to our marriage
-Also the importance of your circle, having men/women friends and having them too guide you and help you grow along the way
This was a fun one and we realized along the way that again if we become our best selves first then add it to the marriage it will always be better.

Today we dive into one of the tougher things to do, but is a large part of what makes our marriage work the way it does!
HUMILITY!
Being humble and having humility is a tough thing to have/practice but here are a few things we do to make it work for us
-Being a servant to each other and focusing on what we can do to help the other out first
-Household chores are everyone's not his and hers
-Sex life and how to maneuver humility along the way
-Feedback (blind spots) and being willing and able to receive and give feedback to your loved one in the name of love and for the greater purpose, not just to point fingers
We even leave you with an action step on this one and want to know what is one area in your marriage you can serve your spouse this week (NON SEXUAL)
Let us know what you come up with!

Today and we are going to share our experiences in this and how we have allowed our missions over the last 13 years sometimes out run our marriage
