We talked about his case, as well as the current state of courts and the general bias against fathers in California custody proceedings. We also discussed some of the radical philosophy behind the modern gender-identity/fluidity movement.

Dr. Walter Block is a libertarian scholar and professor at Loyola University New Orleans, and he is an author of two-dozen books. He is also a senior fellow at the Mises Institute. His work focuses on Austrian economics and libertarian political theory -- and he is not afraid to tackle thorny/unpopular topics.
In this episode, we started off by discussing Walter's early years in Brooklyn, where he was a classmate of Bernie Sanders' and later met Ayn Rand and her associates as an undergrad. He credits some conversations and meetings with them for opening his eyes to liberty and free markets. Walter was also a friend and mentee of the late Murray Rothbard's.
In addition to discussing some of the universities with Austrian economists in residence, we spent most of the episode talking about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Walter recently co-wrote a controversial op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal in which he defended Israel's actions and was highly critical of Palestinian-rights movements. We talked about some of theory as well as practical aspects of what he feels must be done in the wake of the October 7 attack on Israel.

In this episode, I discuss the meaning of Independence Day for patriotic, traditional, liberty-minded Americans in 2023. We have endured a lot of tyranny, chaos, and cultural decay over the past few years, and it is important for us to reflect on the implications of this national holiday to us as Americans -- and as Californians.
Specifically, I discussed the Richard Henry Lee resolution (July 2, 1776) that these United States are free and independent states. (Does it feel like your state is "free and independent" in the year 2023?)
I also read some of the opening paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence. How should we incorporate Jefferson's thoughts and ideals into our civic lives as Americans? What were the grievances that he enumerated against King George III, and how do they compare to the burden that is currently placed onto us at the federal and state levels?

In this solo episode, I recount California's numerous public-safety and public-policy failures over the past few years: water mismanagement, increasing street crime, subsidies & support for drug abuse, Prop. 57, homelessness, etc. Gavin Newsom is now being forced to sound like a voice of reason (partly), because he is trying to finagle a run for the presidency. So that might mean that reparations will be a "no way" and critical water projects might actually get built (over the objections of the fanatical environmental zealots).

Will Trump be arrested on Tuesday? (Probably not.) Was this whole rumor just a grift/ruse to raise money and ensnare Desantis? (Maybe.) Should partisan district attorneys be arresting/imprisoning political foes from rival parties on trumped-up charges that are often misdemeanors? (I don't think it's a great idea.)
And in local California news: Is our drought finally over, as many parts of the state are recovering from widespread flooding (or digging out from several feet of snow)? How many more farcical articles will we see that admonish us to "remember that the drought restrictions can't be lifted yet"?
Some good news, and a definite bright spot: After three years of p@ndemic-related tyranny & coercion -- and unprecedented intrusions into our medical privacy and personal liberties -- more citizens here in California and around the country are waking up to the fact that we must stand together with our friends, neighbors, and allies to defend our basic freedoms. In California, tyrannical/garbage bills such as SB 866, SB 871, and now AB 659 have united the resistance; a whole new generation of liberty activists is being formed right now.

(There are millions of liberty advocates and human-rights activists who are not even remotely interested in granting an “amnesty” at this time, after all of the tyranny and Covid authoritarianism of the past two-and-a-half years.) Perhaps one day we will forgive, but we will never forget.
Additionally, I discuss the Left’s unhinged fearmongering about “threats to democracy” and “election deniers” in this upcoming mid-term election. What do they mean when they say “democracy”? (Hint: When they say “democracy,” they don’t mean what Americans have always understood this country to be, a constitutional republic.)
I also do a quick review of some of the issues and propositions that are appearing on California’s ballot.

In this episode, I do a deeper dive into California's destructive, authoritarian energy policies. I review recent energy & climate-change legislation, and tie that back to hypocritical politicians and environmental extremists. Another big part of this episode is a primer on how to dismantle alarmist fearmongering about Climate Change and Global Warming that emanate from the mainstream/dinosaur media.
