In this episode, I interview RTT Therapist and Master Coach Sivan on all things subconscious mind.  Sivan has some great suggestions to help you get started on your personal healing journey, and we also discuss the ways in which her knowledge and awareness of subconscious patterns and programs has helped her in her own daily life.

The book Sivan recommends in the episode is 'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind' by Dr Joseph Murphy

Sivan is a Trauma Informed Master Coach + Rapid Transformational Therapist, PSYCH-K Facilitator and Nutritional Therapist.

Working with nutrition clients, Sivan quickly observed that her clients' food and health challenges were only surface-level symptoms of much deeper-rooted issues. This lead her to follow her fascination with human behaviour and the subconscious mind and Sivan now supports men and women across the world to uncover and release the root cause of their unwanted patterns and behaviours, so that they can live a more empowered, fully expressed life.

Lavinia Brown (MA Oxon) is a trauma-informed psychodynamic coach who supports mothers to stop feeling anxious, depressed and angry through understanding and healing their past, clearing inherited emotional baggage, overcoming unconscious patterns and asserting healthy boundaries so that they can own their authentic feminine power without feeling ‘too much’, selfish or guilty.

In this episode, Lavinia and I chat about the inner child particularly from the perspective of motherhood: why it is so important that we heal our inner child wounds as mothers, and how we can do that.

Generational patterns and trauma are passed on through family lines, and can be both direct and indirect. In this episode, I discuss the ways in which generational patterns and trauma are passed on and how to work your way through it. I also discuss the parent-child relationship and why it's important to heal from it.

This episode is also one for any parents out there wondering how they can avoid passing on a heap of generational patterns and trauma to their own children - the end of the episode outlines the very best thing you can do for your own healing and for your childrens'. The goal is never to be a perfect parent, but we can make a conscious choice to break cycles and try to avoid passing down generational patterns and trauma.

Now that we know a bit more about the inner child, in this episode it's all about how we can start to heal your inner child and work through some of the 'stuff' you're holding onto from your childhood.

In this episode, I discuss a technique known as reparenting - where you connect with your inner child and step into an adult parent role for them. I also chat about why self-compassion is the key to any kind of self-healing, including inner child healing.

This episode is all about your inner child - what it is, why it matters, and how you can start to connect with him/her.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • what the 'inner child' is

  • how your inner child is different from your subconscious mind (and how it's similar)

  • why inner child work is important for you today, as an adult

  • how to start forming a connection with your inner child so that you can begin healing that part of you

I highly recommend you find a meditation or visualisation to help you get started, my favourite app is Insight Timer and you can download it (totally free) and just search 'inner child'. Find a meditation that resonates with you and maybe give it a couple of listens - it can feel a bit weird the first time you start connecting with your inner child, but the more you practice, the easier it becomes. And once you delve in you'll really start to understand why inner child work is such as an important part of your healing journey.

You can download the app here.

In this episode, I chat about your inner voice - why it matters, and how you can start to change the way you talk to yourself on a daily basis.

Key takeaways for you:

  • Your inner voice can come from how you were spoken to as a child, and/or how you witnessed other people in your life speak to themselves, or about themselves and others

  • A parent who is self-critical will often raise children who are highly self-critical. We learn from observation, not just through what is directly said to us. This is why doing your own healing work as a parent is the greatest gift you can give to your child/ren!

  • No one thrives when they're being constantly criticised, judged, blamed and shamed. So don't treat yourself that way.

For a step-by-step breakdown of how to change the way you speak to yourself, check out the full show notes: www.dannielleillingworth.com/s1e3

In this episode, I explain exactly where those pesky little thoughts, beliefs and fears in your subconscious mind come from. You might be surprised to learn that it's not just about what you experienced as a child or earlier in life, but actually what your brain decided as a result of those experiences.

Key takeaways for you:

  • Your subconscious mind is filled with beliefs, fears and mindset blocks that you have gathered over your lifetime

  • Your perspective of a situation, memory or experience is what holds the power when it comes to your subconscious mind

  • Delving into your childhood is never about blaming anyone else, including your parents. It's about bringing light to what you have held onto for too long, to what is holding you back now as an adult, so that you can release it and move forward

  • As a child, we take everything so personally because we don't have a fully developed logical mind. Things that wouldn't affect us as an adult can have a huge impact on us as a child, depending on what we make it "mean"

  • Your subconscious fears, beliefs and blocks are only in control when you're unaware of them. Once you recognise what is in your subconscious mind, it's like you're able to get back in the drivers seat and take back control of your own decisions, actions and behaviours. Remaining ignorant to your subconscious beliefs, programs and fears is like sitting in the passenger seat while your 4 year old self takes the wheel!

In this episode, I go right back to the beginning and explain how I went from a naturopath specialising in weight loss, to a kinesiologist and intuitive coach focused on the subconscious mind, mindset and emotions.

I also share a bit about my own personal journey with food, weight and body image - and how discovering the power of the subconscious mind changed everything for me.

Key takeaways for you: – If you’re feeling stuck and frustrated in your life, and you’re blaming yourself for what you haven’t been able to achieve – chances are the answers lie in your subconscious mind

– When you ignore the subconscious mind, you’re trying to forge ahead harnessing only 5% of the power of your mind

– Imagine the subconscious mind like a dingy, dark, forgotten attic in the back of your house. We don’t open the door and rip everything out at once, we gently creak open the door and decide what you’re ready to open and let go of. Bit by bit.
