Jacob is well-educated in many facets of politics, religion and philosophy, and he has traveled and experienced altered states with the use of psychedelic drugs. In fact, his first experience with mushrooms was at Burning Man in 2012. This experience set him on a course of events that would eventually lead him to a monastery in New Mexico and his first Divine Liturgy.
We also discuss the fact that although some who have used psychedelics have had profound results (including opening the heart and healing from depression for example), the ultimate Truth and healing is in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please note: When my guests and I discuss psychedelics and New Age Spirituality, it is never to create any kind of fascination with them for our viewers.

*(Please note at around the 12 minute mark) I should clarify that small Christian sects including Gnostic cults existed simultaneously with "The Church"; I didn't mean to exclude them, only to emphasize that the Orthodox Church has existed for 2,000 years...yet I didn't know anything about it for most of my life. Rather, I only knew about heterodox denominations that followed, post-schism.

Patrick began his search for Truth by studying world religions including magic and Gnosticism, martial arts, the work of Terrance McKenna and by taking various psychedelics multiple times. The end of all rabbit holes is ultimately the Logos! By connecting all the dots, he discovered that the fullness of the faith lies in The One Holy and Apostolic Church: Orthodox Christianity. He tells the whole story! You will learn a lot of world history in the process of this conversation.
He will also speak on the power of prayer, as well as the responsibility we all have to ACT on the Truth we discover once we find it.

(aka Rat Tail) and Mayda share their story of what they thought was going to be a healing mushroom ceremony on Native Land. It turned out to be very dark, and would later guide them toward seeking salvation in Jesus Christ.
We also discuss the enchantment of False Light teachings and practices such as Kundalini Yoga. Mark had a "spiritual experience" that he now identifies as having given him only a temporary, false experience of truth, and one that merely boosted his ego. He explains that these are experiences are temporary, while our eternal hope is in following our Lord.

We have found compassion for ourselves and everyone who are attracted to the False Light path. The Holy Spirit convicts each person in a different way and on a unique timeline.

*We would like to make a distinction about what we said about God's children (born in his image, to live in service to our Father) - we are NOT referring to the result of our free will choice to receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, nor of deification, nor even of "becoming the children of God by adoption" which occurs as a "spiritual birth by grace, through faith, and in the Holy Spirit," accomplished at Baptism. See John 1:13, Orthodox Study Bible. We as Christians are directed to live in such a way to become similar to Him. Big difference! We apologize for any confusion!
