Unlike the pragmatic, valuable, and necessary use of the scientific method to discover truths about our natural world, scientism is a belief that the natural sciences are the only way that we can know anything about life. It excludes all other forms of inquiry and has become a tool of technocrats who are trying to control the flow of information and pervert the search for truth.

In Episode #8, we embark on a thought experiment related to the pandemic, discuss some CDC guidance on reporting deaths related to COVID, and talk about some of the less mentioned aspects of the situation we find ourselves in. I share my own experience with the disease and reflect on the way our perceptions have changed over the last two years. I know we are all becoming weary with the ongoing situation. The media have chosen to avoid some of this information in order to preserve a narrative of fear. It is incumbent on us to sift and winnow through the available information to separate perceived risk and actual risk.

In Episode #3, we finish up with Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" and discuss its implications. From it we learn that our ability to adapt to paradigm-shifting information does not come easy. Allowing ourselves to step away from the various shadow dramas we're drawn into is critical to saving our humanity and to staying on good terms with those with whom we disagree.
Because these first three episodes are a package, I released them in close proximity to each other. From here on out, though, I plan to release one episode a week. I will upload new episodes on Sundays, God willing and nursing school allowing!

In Episode #2, we look into the "Allegory of the Cave," found in Book VII of Plato's most famous work, The Republic. In this imaginary interview between his older brother, Glaucon, and his philosophy teacher, Socrates, Plato does an amazing job of depicting how difficult it is for us to shift paradigms and challenge narratives. Admittedly, reading ancient writing doesn't always give us the nail-biting thrill we get from watching today's fast-paced movies and videos, but it's well worth our time to sift through the wisdom handed down to us by the great thinkers of Greece (the third one being, of course, Aristotle).
