Greetings, one and all. It's fantastic to have you back, enjoying and supporting our podcast; it's very much appreciated. This week's podcast was another amazing one and had a very special guest, so we had a lot of fun. Please welcome to the podcast, Dion McCracken!
Like a lot of creative people, we may not consider ourselves artists, and Dion is a fellow podcaster who started a wrestling podcast called That Sweet Pop. The podcast has gone from strength to strength. It was fascinating to discover his background and history and how he became heavily involved with the NZ Wrestling scene. From working behind the scenes to being in the ring as NZ's Most Winningest Manager to starting a podcast with a longtime friend that now has a global reach.

Keanu (who wrestles as Horus) has a rapid fan base who have given him such wonderful nicknames as Duke of Death and Deathmatch Daddy.
Keanu was such a cool guest, and he really shares his history into creativity and how that led him to discover wrestling and what he hopes for the future. On this week's podcast, we have a fantastic local artist who has been blazing his own trail for quite a few decades. Please welcome to the podcast, David Gunson.
Before we begin, due to a technical issue, all the amazing photos we took of David got corrupted and none were usable so we lifted some photos to show everyone what an amazing individual he is as well as being both dapper and handsome. To simply call David an artist, is a huge misrepresentation. David is a highly creative individual who has a rich and deep knowledge as an artist and is renowned for working with pen and ink, mixed media, as a storyboard artist and film director/writer. He is still sought after worldwide and is internationally recognised.
David is such an amazing guy and this podcast was so much fun, and we go through his amazing career all the way through to moving to Northland and becoming part of MGTO Gallery collective, going under the legendary and awesome moniker "Gunsmoke". To say that our guest Scotty has had to overcome some challenges and obstacles would be a huge understatement. Scotty is one of those artists that may get knocked down by life, but he bounces back even better than he was before, a true symbol of the power of positivity and creativity. Plus he even accepted a challenge that was proposed to him, what a legend!

Having begun her creative journey in Auckland, she forged a career as a Mac operator, a projectionist and in arts education. Later moving to Whangarei, she completed a Master of Fine Arts through Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, Auckland in 2020 and has formed the Collective Practise; a group of artists, including former NorthTec graduates and other excellent local artists.
Angela was such an amazing guest to have on the podcast, and she spoke about the challenging times she found herself in during lockdown and how she was able to transition that into her creativity. Angela has also become a huge advocate for funding and has become an important figure in helping artists secure funding and grants for their work.

Hemi is one of those artists who found his creative expression quite early on in life and has been crafting and honing his craft to become exceptionally skilled. He was great fun to have and there were a lot of funny moments that made us all laugh and we thank him for that.

Shane sits down and talks about his journey as an Illustrator. How he first started and how he moved into working as a projectionist, then focused once again on his own work. Specialising in Illustration and Airbrushing for Print, Murals and Vehicle Art. Producing work in both digital and traditional mediums, Shane's work ranges from small jobs up to airbrushed vehicles and murals, Shane is an artist to make sure you keep an eye out for!
When the podcast was first created, Northland Artists Conversation had a few key guests that we really wanted to get, and Shane was one of them. Having started her creative journey in dance at a young again UK, she talks about staring off in the discipline of Tap and then diversifying into other styles of dance. Holly relocated over to NZ in 2006 after meeting her Kiwi hubby. She began teaching dance right here in Whangarei and is now the director of WADPA-Whangarei Academy of Dance & Performing Arts, one of Northland's most established dance studios with over 40 years experience!
