Yassie and Annelise from my Stanford Greek Mythology summer course join me to discuss all things related to Classics: learning Latin, the appeals of mythology, the dangers of using Classics out of historical context, its relevance to modern day, and its significance in understanding ourselves as individuals and part of the larger "Western civilization." We also share some of our favorite books, stories, modern retellings, and how our perspectives on Greek mythology has matured.

I had an amazing opportunity to chat with the hosts of Merlisten, a podcast about the BBC show Merlin! I drilled them on everything from their personal experiences in fandom, fandom "jargon" and activities, the history behind the Merlisten podcast, and the implications and significance of participating in online (and offline) communities of fellow followers of creative content. This was a special episode for me because Merlisten was one of the first podcasts that pulled me into the podcasting world; I love their show and even was a guest on a couple of episodes there. So much more valuable, geeky content was lost on the "cutting room floor," but we have successfully condensed the 4 hours of recorded audio into a bit over an hour for everyone to enjoy!

Abigail and I hold an informal Q/A session to discuss the short film (The South Korean Race) we made a couple of years ago. We share our inspiration, process, favorite memories, hardest experiences, and changed perspectives making the film. We also chat about representation of women and female characters in popular culture.

(Please excuse Abigail's coughing. She says it is from allergies.)

Danae, another long-distance friend I made during a UPenn summer program, eloquently expresses her thoughts on life in Cyprus and Greece, the European status in terms of Covid, the public speaking and anthropology courses we took together, and souvlaki and haloumi. She also proves to be a likely candidate for the next greatest lawyer/politician/diplomat as she discusses the various extracurricular activities she seeks, from MUN to European Youth Parliament to being the "British High Commissioner to Cyprus" for a day! We chat about the rich cultural heritage in her countries and women in government. Plus, she even teaches us some beautiful Greek words.

Amy, a long-distance friend I made over a writing summer program at Stanford, brings in all the laughs as she shares her exotic experiences running a student-led pop-up restaurant, taking interdisciplinary courses (such as science + drama) at a one year boarding school in Hangzhou, and stepping on her goldfish. She also talks about Covid, school, and life in general in Hong Kong and the cultural diversity in her life of Korean, Chinese, and British influences. We also reminisce the "old days" of summer '18 with the EPGY crew!

Tanya and Michaela join us from the Original Pancake House in Itaewon to share their experiences living as foreigners in Korea, attending an international school, and playing multiple school sports. They give us the inside scoop into Korean international school stereotypes, being a military daughter (from Michaela), and how they deal with cultural and linguistic barriers. Plus, we test their Korean language skills at the end with a little game!

(We apologize for the terrible audio and loud background noise. The guests were calling from a restaurant.)
