These days and time we have witnessed more incidents involving police and black men more than ever. Sad to say, in most cases, the black men accused are innocent males that fit the description of the "mistaken identity". Black males, we know you are good guys and are destined for great things. As you soar to reach your greatest potential in a society that sees you as a threat, keep your head up. More importantly let us make sure the work we do and the life we live speaks to our good character because as African Americans, we have to do so much more to do to prove our innocence. It's our hope that the recent trial outcome regarding a police and black male is sign that things will change for the better and going forward, there will liberty and justice for all.
There comes a time in our lives when we have to step up and take ownership of the things that that assigned to us or that we sign up for. Be it a position on the local sports team, a mentorship of some sort or even jobs daily we are hired to do. As we seek to gain some level of normalcy after the pandemic, we have be honest with ourselves and know that while it was a great help, the assistance we were afforded during these unprecedented times eventually come to an end. With that in mind, let's take a stand as men and women of society and get back in the workforce so that we can show those who we are raising as well as those who are watching, how we take a set back and make it a set up for a comeback.
Helping others should become contagious! Oftentimes our friends and family play an integral role in our success. Friends, let's start normalizing being genuinely helpful. We can start by simply promoting others. How, you might ask? A simple Facebook post telling your friends about a great experience you had with a business or sharing a post from a small local business. Remember, one day the good news everyone is sharing just may be about the goods and services you provide! Before you know it, one friend will tell another friend and it just goes on and on from there! As you can agree, it's fairly easy to help others so let's commit to doing at least one thing to help someone else get ahead this week.
Happy Juneteenth! Thursday, June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed legislation to make Juneteenth a federal holiday, enshrining June 19 as the national day to commemorate the end of chattel slavery in the United States. As we look forward to celebrating this federal holiday years to come, let us continue to educate ourselves on Black history, (American history), celebrate freedom, spread lots of love and support black owned businesses. We make a difference in this world so let's be stronger together.
Sending a special thank you to some friends for challenging us to take things to a new level.
In this episode Hope and Dwayne have open dialogue about Mental Health and Social Media. We all understand that Mental Health may not be easy to grasp but when we know what triggers to be aware of, we can approach it differently. Studies show there is a strong link between social media and mental health disorders. Our aim is to bring awareness to the different features, filters and software that allow us to create the finished product of what’s actually posted on social media, so that your thoughts and experience are not swayed by what you see.
