Paper Gliders released their first EP at the beginning of September and we were invited to review it. The EP is a culmination of influences and sounds from Fleet Foxes, the Cure, and Foster the People. The three distinct lead singers allow for very different variation from song to song especially when paired with melodic guitar, keyboard and bass parts. The dry mix keeps things clear, organized, and entertaining through the entire album.

Our first episode back since the start of school. This week's episode deals with Death Cab's 2018 release Thank You For Today. It's full of throw back melodies and sounds from previous albums which is fitting as many of the lyrics discuss old relationships and the changing city of Seattle. Death Cab plays it safe with this solid indie pop album. Thanks for listening!

Nostalgia dominants this short and sweet, Beach Boys inspired album by Kansas City's Shy Boys. Bell House is like if Of Montreal, the Beach Boys, Fleet Foxes, and the Shins all had a love child. What a great package of memorable, cute, dainty songs accompanied with memorable lyrics and great voices.

Hike's latest EP titled Lilt could not be more satisfying. Humble lyrics about city and nature paired with harmonies that are rich with math rock and well-rehearsed hits are truly beautiful. This EP, a long with their other music, oozes talent without being over the stop, difficult to listen to, or tiring.

Wonder is the first worship album we've ever tackled. It was suggested by one of our Patrons. The album definitely maintains your typical worship sounds and styles with some progressive instrumental and lyrical moves. At 71 minutes long it's slow to develop and stays relatively stable. It's rounded out with messages of resurrection and love inspired by 90s nostalgia and wonder. Thanks for listening!

It's not a 180 degree turn, but it's certainly a 90 degree turn in the Arctic Monkey's sound with their latest release Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. It's an album based around the idea of "Lets go and write about another world in order to comment on this one." The social commentary regarding social media, government, relationships, and technology runs up and down the lyrics while paired with a lounge style, harmonically rich, low-key sound.
