As we move into Exodus and see Moses trying and struggling to follow God's will and ways. Then at the burning bush, God gives Him the secret to doing just that. Does it make things easier for Moses or harder? And what does that mean for us? Listen in a find out!
On this cold snowy day, Youth Church is cancelled, but we want to keep going in the Word together! So, we turn to the story of Joseph and see how Joseph was a picture of the suffering servant, and how Jesus is the fulfillment of that picture!
As we continue reading Scripture together, I was going to talk about Jacob's dream about a ladder and Jesus fulfilling that, but I came across an odd title for God that is only mentioned in one place in all of Scripture. And that title is - the Fear of Issac.
We have released our reading plans for the year with one goal: Abide in Christ! & Mike has given us his prayer for SWP for the year! Step one: Abide in Christ!
It's a message of conviction - how far are you willing to extend your love? Listen at your own risk!
There was a man who had a great fall. And just like this man, many of us have stumbled a story or two in our lifetime. But there is a big difference in the outcome of our falls based soley on who we have to help us back up. If we rely on ourselves or others, we will remain broken. But if we rely on Jesus - well, that is a different story.
Two condemned men were put forth for the crowd to choose. One would go free, the other to the cross. Today, we face the same question: which one will you choose?
What do we do when our faith is tested? And what is the point? Well, the point is Jesus and the answer is obedience!
What are you afraid of? Ghosts? Do you even believe in Ghosts? Tonight we look in the Bible to find a ghost, a witch, and a very fearful man.
It's my first time back in a few weeks after surgery and God gave me a word for us from a unique place in scripture. So, let's start by reflecting on some questions, then listen to a story, and finally figure out how all of this matters for us today.
This is surely an idol we can all identify with because it is pretty much in our pockets or in our hands all day - entertainment! Whether it is social media, games, videos, sports, or something else, it is easy to buy into whatever amuses us. But what happens when that amusement starts to make us into the entertainment?!
the god of Compromise is everywhere, making its way into even our smallest decisions. It is an idol that promises much but will only leave us with collapse. This is what happened to Israel! One day they seem to be faithful to the LORD, and another they worship one of the most dispicable gods that demanded a terrible sacrifice. Tonight, we talk about Molech and the god of Compromise.
What brings you comfort, satisfaction, happiness, and contentment? If we are honest, there are many things we probably run to fill us, even if we think it is only in small ways. Regardless, these things can all become part of the idol of the quick fix in our life.
Is there a little g god at war for your heart! You bet there is! Today, we introduce our new series where we will be looking at the little g gods of the Bible in order to help us identify the modern ones of today: idols! Tonight we begin in Exodus with an early war of the gods in Egypt!
Surprise! I thought we were done with this Devoted Life series but turns out, we had one more to do (for now). Today we finish Matthew 6 and move to take another step in the Devoted Life to Christ!
What do we do when we drop the ball in our faith? Are we letting God down? Is He mad at us? Is He disappointed? What is God's position toward us when we stumble? Well, let's talk about Nothing!
It is Resurrection Sunday! Aka, Easter! And we are celebrating it today with our own Egg Hunt with a twist! The person who found the most eggs can trade it for our large golden egg with a mystery gift inside. Worth it? That is also the question every person must ask when they consider Christ. Is He worth it? Is Jesus worth giving up everything for?
As we work through the Sermon on the Mount, we finally come to Part 3 of this Devoted Life series where we end up talking about fasting! What is fasting? How do you fast? Should Christians fast?
The message explores how living a devoted life to God isn't about religious performance, but about cultivating a genuine, intimate relationship with Him through prayer. Carson Burns challenges listeners to move beyond surface-level spirituality and discover how consistent, heartfelt prayer can transform their lives, ignite their spiritual passion, and help them thrive in their relationship with God.
If you were to pick 3 common ways to love God, what would you pick? Would you pick our church staples: Scipture, prayer, & fellowship? In the sermon on the mount, Jesus chose 3 that would've been common to the Jewish world, but not so much in ours. Prayer (which is normal enough), giving to the poor, and fasting. Today, we begin with giving! How does giving fit into the Devoted Life?
D-Now weekend is always an incredible time pursing the Lord together. This year the theme was DEVOTED. We have spent the weekend discussing that topic and how we can devote ourselves to Jesus Christ. Today, we look one two people, one who was devoted to One and another who was devoted to none.
Ten guys experienced a life changing action in their life but only one paused and he was led back to life itself. So, often we go through life and never pause to see what is really going on, or who we may need to thank.
Looking into Psalm 107, we find four pictures of redemption themes that lead us to know and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Join us as we examine these portraits and run to Jesus!
With our world and culture the way it is, there is a great and continuous call for the faithful children of God to take a stand! Take a stand! Do it together. But let’s think about the kind of stand we ought to take.
We continue our series about weird stories of the Bible and finally come to the one we have all been waiting for! A talking donkey! Yep, Shrek didn't come up with the idea, it was already in the Bible. But what in the world could a talking donkey have to do with our faith and walk?
Have you heard the story of Daniel in the lion’s den? Today we return to this classic story but examine closely why Daniel was thrown in. Then we look at what it looks like for you and I to be in a lion’s den, the Lion’s den.
Ever seen a goat sacrifice in person? No? Why? Because that's weird! Well, today we look at killing goats because God said so. But more importantly, we look at why God said so and what that meant for His people, including us.
We begin a new series dealing with weird stories of the Bible. For example, ever thought about what may be going on behind the scenes when you pray? Well, Daniel found out what was happening while he was praying and it can show us the power of our own prayers too.
This may be one of the most cruical emotions to learn to navigate as we seek to walk with God. Guilt can weigh us down and even grow into shame and condemnation that will wreck our lives and faith. So today we talk about guilt and false guilt and the solution to both. We also use two Psalms today that can serve so well as prayers for us to confess and walk in forgiveness!
When lies and desception define you, how do you change? How can you move past your past, your failures, and your brokenness? Today we discuss how Jacob wrestled with God and how when we choose to wrestle with God too, we can experience growth and change even though we are imperfect.
Today we come to one of the most famous Psalms - Psalm 23 - and in this Psalm we reflect on Peace.
We continue our study through the Bible and today we come to the story of how Issac met his bride! It is a story of faith, prayer, and boldness on the part of many characters as they each seek to follow God's will and glorify God.
Genesis 22 brings us to another incredible but also challengeing passage of scripture as Abraham is commanded by God to sacrifice his son of the promise, Issac! This command brings us uncomfortable feelings and questions but it also brings great challenges and answers on how to live out our own faith!
Today we cover Genesis 12-15, introducing Abraham (aka Abram) and introducing the covenant God made with him. This covenant is what lead to Jesus being a sacrifice for our sins and because God chose us to have this covenant with, we can walk in greater faith, greater obedience, and greater reward!
(Warning: Loud sound mix. Levels got bumped on accident). Tonight we discuss one emotion that can keep us stunned and living in worry, or teach us to rely on our good Father all the more - that emotion is fear.
Genesis 11 has an interesting story in it that brings a lot of questions and answers of how we got where we are today. But it carries a lot of practical and powerful application within too.
Tonight as we read Psalm 118, we see the love of Christ being sung by Christ! It is love - love lived out and show in action. He chose to love us!
Today we cover Genesis 6-9 (specifically Genesis 6:5-7:1) which is the event of Noah and the Ark.
Today we have a firework of an emotion: anger! Anger is something we all struggle to control at times but have you ever thought that anger has a good purpose? And maybe there is a way to deal with our anger in a way that leads to good things happening in our world and in our life!
We finish Genesis 3 this morning and see how sin continues to seperate and bring shame. But we also see how God continues to step in and show His mercy, making a way for redemption to take place through Jesus!
We continue moving through Genesis and today we discuss 2 versions of goodness. One version God saw (and made). The other humanity saw, and they ate. What happens when we try to define goodness for ourselves?
JOY is our next emotion, one that can greatly change and increase ourlives every day! But Joy is more than happieness. It is more than a quick fix of positive emotion. Joy is enduring and sustaining as we will see in Psalm 16.
"In the beginning God created...." Today we discuss how power these words are and how these words should shape our perspective on life! Our good God created a good world for us to continue participating in His goodness together!
We are bringing back the emotions series for the purpose of helping youth be better equipped to navigate their emotions so they can be more prepared to serve God and others with those feelings. Today, we start off strong with the emotion of sadness as we look at Psalm 42 to guide us through this big and powerful emotion.
Jesus didn't hold back with His words in the Sermon on the Mount. He addressed adultery, lust, and divorce all to show that we have a problem with our heart and need His redemption.
Jesus didn't hold back any punches when it came to addressing the heart of the problem of the people before Him: their hearts. Today, we talk about anger. Unresolved anger: anger that festers and grows. And how God views this anger in the lives of His people.
Rules! We love em and we hate them! But even Jesus talked about rules. Tonight we begin diving into the meat of the sermon on the mount when Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. (Video is from the Bible Project)
We continue working through the sermon on the mount and today we finish the 'introduction' of this passage in Matthew. Jesus used the Beatitudes and 3 images to introduce the sermon, to call His Kingdom People to be in His Kingdom and shine His kingdom around the world.
Disciple Now was a fantastic weekend with our youth. We finish it off with a message from Carson for the whole church!
Through a Big Church preaching opportunity, Carson takes us into a passage in Proverbs, sharing the wisdom of God's Word for the good life He desires for us.
We wrap up the beatitudes today where Jesus shares that His Kingdom citizens pursue peace even if we are pursued by persecution. (Video is from the Bible Project)
One of the ways I want to help encourage and equip us to engage God's word is by answering the questions, "how did we get the Bible," and "is it trustworthy." The answer to the second question is a resounding, "YES!" But how? Listen in as give a brief explaniation of it.
We continue with the second section of the Beatitudes and see what Jesus does when with those in His Kingdom. When we surrender, He transforms us to serve in counter cultural ways.
Jesus was always the plan. Even before the foundation of the world. Join us in rejoicing as Carson shares three pivitol scriptures that show us how God had a plan, even before the beginning of time. (Video audio is from the Bible Project)
Of all things, Jesus chose to begin this Sermon on the Mount with 9 sayings that can seem confusing and even contradictory. Yet, these beatitudes set the stage, and, when understood, explain exactly who God's kingdom was for and what it would be doing. Today, we look at the first 3 verses of the beatitudes and find out what it took to take hold of the Kingdom of God.
Today we kickstart our series on being with Jesus in His Word! We want to get into the Word until it gets into us! And so we kickstart with a 3 step quickstart on reading the Bible.
Today we begin a new series that will take us through the Spring where we will be studying some of the things Jesus said so that we can follow Him in obediance. This brings us to an introduction on the sermon on the mount, possibly the most famous teachings of Jesus. Over the next several weeks we will dive into these teachings and disect them so that we can follow Jesus in what He said! - Some audio comes from the Bible Project podcast and vidos
Jesus gives us new life and His Word contains examples of people who experianced that life change. Peter and Paul (previously known as Saul) had their lives transformed because of New Life in Christ. And this happened despite their past or their present mistakes. Dive in with us and see how God want's to give us New Life!
Our stories matter. Our stories can be used by God to reveal amazing things about our New Life in Christ. But before we explore more on how to use our stories to their fullest, we must continuely remind ourselves of the foundation of New Life - Jesus.
In this last session, we finish up the armor of God passage, discovering how central the Holy Spirit must be to our prayers and our proclimation of Scripture.
We come to the helmet of salvation in the Ephesians 6, Armor of God. God has a desire to envelope our lives with His truth, reighteousness, and peace. And He uses our ongoing salvation and sanctification to do that. So, we take up the helmet of salvation and allow our minds to be renewed!
We continue our journey through the Armor of God and come to the Shield of Faith. How is faith a shield? What does it mean to take up that faith against arrows? These are but a few of the questions we address today.
We've reached the third piece of the armor of God that we are told to stand in. Stand in readiness from and for the gospel of peace!
We continue through the Armor of God as we seek to build up genuine relationships by Armoring Up! We recap where we have been and we move to the second piece of armor: righteousness! So we discuss, what it means to stand in righteousness and, from that position, to live righteously!
This weekend, during our fall retreat, we seek to Grow Genuine Relationships with God, with Others, and with Ourselves by exploring Matthew 22:37-40.
This weekend, during our fall retreat, we seek to Grow Genuine Relationships with God, with Others, and with Ourselves by exploring Matthew 22:37-40.

It is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month and we want to take a small moment to share, youth, we are here for you and we love you. Though this topic deserves its own series, we at least want to open the door for this conversation. You can always reach out to us and we will respond in love. And if you right now are struggling with suicidal thoughts, call this lifeline now: 988! YOU ARE LOVED! Let's keep pursuing hope and healing together with our God!
Truth is the first peice of armor we are called to rely on. As we revisit Ephesians 6, we take a look at the real battle we are facing and take the first step in the armor of God: Truth!
As we begin our study of the Armor of God, we still must gear up in order to gear up. In other words, we must not only examine what armor we are currently wearing, but also what battle are we fighting. We begin reflecting on those questions as we look at David's life in 1 Samuel.
With a new school year and a new season comes a new year of ministry and a new Seasonal Discipleship Focus: Armor Up. This series will support our discipleship focus this season as we seek to apply the armor of God to every aspect of our lives! But first, we need to identify what armor we are already wearing.
As we kick off a new school year and ramp up our ministry, we want to connect with the students and parents and share a little more about our ministry, our '23-'24 direction, and the invitation we have to everyone: "Come up the mountain!" Listen in to Open House night with Genuine Youth Ministries.
This is the last session of our Psalms series where we have been challenged to choose to be blessed (Psalm 1), to choose to make the Lord our Shepherd (Psalm 23), to choose to fix your eyes on the LORD (Psalm 121), and to choose an attitude of gratitue (Psalm 100). Tonight, we are challenged to choose to listen to the voice of the Lord, as His voice thunders with power over all creation. Listen in, find encouragement, and be challenged to walk with the Lord more deeply as Mike Harvey walks us through Psalm 29.
Once again, we are challenged to choose. This time, it is to choose an attitude of gratitude. As Youth Camp draws close, we continue this study in various psalms so that we might choose Real Life with Jesus. They are psalms for living. Mike leads us into Psalm 100 - 5 verses - that challenges us to find ways to live with joy, thanksgiving, and worship.
Psalm 121 - Another popular psalm with an overlooked message. What is a song of ascent? What does it mean to look to God? What does it mean that He will be our keeper? And how does all of this impact our daily living. Listen in and make the choice to look to the Lord or the world - Real Life or the false life.
What single greatest piece of advice can you give to a graduating senior that will serve them for the decades to come in every area of life? I have given much advise over the last few decades but the Spirit led me to a single passage over the last few weeks that has been a major encouragement to my life (now, in past, and in the days to come). It is Proverbs 3:5-6: a word for our graduates, but for all of us as well, as we continue to live and walk in this world.
Psalm 23 is a psalm we have probably heard at nearly every funeral we have been to. Yet, even though we may even know it by heart, have we ever taken the time to dwell on this psalm and find out where we connect with the psalm or not. Mike takes us through this psalm, helping shift our perspective to see our need for us to make the Lord our shepherd. Listen in, find encouragement, and pursue the Lord in a new way today!
The Psalms bring us to a place of real emotion, real life, and real worship. David, amongst others, recorded these prayers, songs, and poems and God had given them to us. Why? For living. It is through these psalms we too can learn how to pray, worship, and rejoice with our God. Today, Mike takes us in the first Psalm to set the stage on how these Psalms can help us live out our faith, hope, and love.
In our last message of this series we see what it takes to be an overcomer: faith. Hebrews 11 is full of people who did amazing things, who followed God everywhere, and some even died for His mission and plan! And the common dscription was that they had faith. Today we look at faith as something that comes from God and allows us to be faithful to Him! And we get this faith by drawing close to Him!
This isn't a threat or some kind of guilt trip the author of Hebrews takes us on. Instead, it is a call to devote ourselves to Jesus, His Word, and the blood bought promise He gives us. The warning though, is if we don't we will dift into dispising Jesus and His Word, which only brings discipline.
On the way to the cross, there is an interesting character that the gospels present us to: Barabbas. Today we look at this story focused in on these two characters and we see how Jesus took our place because Barabbas is us.
We continue working through the book of Hebrews and today we see how Jesus was the better High Priest! But there is something about His work as the great high priest that is unique and amazing, enabling us to dive all in and avoid dullness to the Word.
We continue our discussion of how to live out the truth Jesus is Better in our words, actions, and whole lives! The author of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is better and gives us several exhortations to keep on in our relationship with Christ. Join us as we continue this series!
After D-Now and other amazing events we have this spiritual high but if we aren't anchored to Jesus and walking with Him, we drift. Over the next several weeks we will be talking about how to live out Jesus is better in our lives as we study Hebrews and walk through our Jesus Is Better devotional together!
One of the most challenging things to learn in the Christain life is how to HEAR GOD! We want to prepare to hear from God at D-Now but also allow ourselves to hear God in our daily lives! Listen in and join us in our search to listen to and hear God!
We want to start this year off strong! So, we had a BIG parent meeting to help get the information out on where we are going and how parents can help and benefit from our plan. Listen in and join us in another year of Genuine Youth Ministry!
Though the New Year has arrived, we must not sideline Jesus as we pack up all the Christmas decorations. Listen to our message for our Youth Church and adult Prayer Meeting combination as we read Jesus' words in John 6:25-40.
Family Matters! This week we continue overviewing this Seasonal Discipleship Focus. When we say Family Matters, we mean from every level: as a spouse, as a parent, and as a son and daughter! Listen in, embrace, and live out this Family Matters focus this season as we draw nearer to Christmas!
FAMILY MATTERS! Scripture emphasizes the importance of making God and your family top priority. This is huge and if we all could live this out more, not only would our lives change for the better, but we would impact our families and world in an amazing way. Listen in to hear about this new Discipleship Focus and plan to join us in working more on making our families matter!
YOUTH VOLUNTEERS! Here is a recap of our training! You will need our handout and the book we gave out. You will also need to follow the link below for the video training we used. If you have any questions, let me know!

As we reflect on what it means to BE the Church instead of just attending church, how does Christ's command to practice the breaking bread together help us live out being the Church? Why does the Lord's Supper matter and why should we do it more than just at a Sunday service?
We continue seeking to reclaim what it means to BE THE CHURCH! Prayer is our next focus and we see in scripture how the early church devoted themselves to it! Yet, we find it hard to do the same because few of us have seen the power of prayer play out in our lives. Tonight we explore some of the basics, warnings, and guidance about prayer and our prayer lives.
Today the whole world is vying for our attention and energy, but none of it leads to life. But there is one who leads to life eternal and the present abundant life. Jesus! So, just like the early church, we can devote ourselves to scripture because it can guide us in who we follow and who we influence. Leading us to life and sharing that life with others. This is the teaching we are talking about.
Fellowship is another big word often used but also often misunderstood. When Jesus established the Church, He desired us to have fellowship. And it is this fellowship that would show Jesus to the world. So, what is fellowship? Why is it so important? and How can we participate in genuine fellowship?
The Holy Spirit. The forgotten God. The most misunderstood and ignored part of who God is - His Spirit that connects with us and desires to help, cousel, convict, and guide us. Tonight we discuss this Spirit and what it means for the Church today!
We continue our series on our basic foundations. This time we discuss what it means FOLLOWING JESUS. It should be simple; to follow Jesus means to do what He did and what He says to do. Yet, so many people say they follow Jesus but live lives that are completely opposite of Him! But an even more important question than "how" do we follow Jesus is WHY follow Jesus?
Fear the Lord. This is an unpopular idea in culture these days. It is also a commonly used phrase in scripture. Fear God. And why does Scripture say that it is the fear of the Lord that leads to knowledge, wisdom, and life?
Join us as we begin our Basic series where we reclaim the way we view God and how we view being the church!
What do you want for the school year? I'll tell you what I want, but what do you want! Look with us into Luke 12 and ask God to help guide your desires and needs in this time of worship together.
YEAR 7! The '22-'23 school year is here! Parents! Make sure you are in the know with Genuine Youth Ministries! Listen here to be informed, invited, and inspired into further discipleship with our youth, parents, and adults!
Often, when we read the Bible, we want answers. And our culture has trained us to want those answers now. But as we discussed the previous week, the Bible was lived and written in a context that is not our own. One of these contexts is that the Bible is Ancient Jewish Meditation Literature. Meaning, the Bible wants and is designed to give us answers and wisdom but not through the quick and brief means we desire. The Bible is Meditation Literature which means it is literature that is meant to be engaged over a lifetim. To be read, reread, reflected on, and read again. And by reading the Bible in this way, we experiance transformation.

One of the biggest gaps to us reading the scripture like Jesus is context. We have to read the Bible in context in order to fully understand its message and meanings. This week, this is our focus: to read the Bible as Ancient Literature!

What if we looked at life like a hand of cards we've been dealt. We would probably find ourselves with good cards and bad cards. But what matters more, the cards you have or how you play your card. Tonight we look at the story of Job, the cards he was dealt, and how he chose to play them.
Our culture is very 'me' driven. Jewish culture is Jesus' day was very 'we' driven. Today we look at how reading and discussing the Bible in a community setting can make such a difference in our understanding of Scripture and in the way we live our live. Join us as we begin to read the Bible as Communal Literature.

The Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus. That means it is a group of literary texts that are all about this Messianic figure, an anointed one. The Bible is Messianic Literature. But how? Before we just assume Jesus is on every page of scripture, lets follow this theme of the anointed one and actually findout where Jesus is at in these pages.

Faith is an often misunderstood word, yet faith is the crucial foundation to our salvation. We need to have a risen faith. A faith defined by Jesus and his Scriptures. What is a Risen Faith?
The Bible is a collection of diverse texts written across of massive stretch of time, language, geography, and culture. YET, the Bible is unified in its story and it is structure. This week, as we begin to understand how to read the Bible like Jesus, we look at how the Bible is unifed literature!

We have begun shifting our paradigm of reading the Bible into order to read the Bible like Jesus. Today is our first step as we begin to see the Bible as a human and Divine partnership. By reading the Bible this way, we will begin to see that everything about the Bible is intentional. And that God works the same way with us as He did with the Bible!

Last week we discussed what Intimacy really is. This week we discuss what happens when we reject true intimacy in our lives with God and with others. By knowing this, we are better set up to understand how to build up genuine intimacy in our lives. But first, we must know where to begin!
We have begun a journey to Read The Bible Like Jesus. But how did Jesus read the Bible? That was 2000 years ago before they even had books! And why does it matter that I learn to read the Bible in this way? These are the questions and answers we are beginning to explore. Join us in this series as we learn together how to read the Bible like Jesus did.

We were created for community, for relationships, for INTIMACY. But the world has lost sight of that word. We begin a study redefining that word for our lives and seeing what transformation comes of it!
The red words in the Bible matter a lot because that means Jesus, the Son of God, and Lord and Savior of the World was speaking. In this instance, Jesus was teaching us to pray like He prayed. How can praying the Lord's prayer bring change in our lives? Listen in and join us as we discover just that.
Prayer can be difficult. Whether we feel like it is awkward or we don't know what to say. But God has given us an easy way to know what to pray and to do so confidently. It is praying scripture, God's own words, back to God. Join us as we discuss how this can bring CHANGE to our prayers and our lives. Then practice praying scripture with us!
What are your experiances with prayer? Sadly, too often we feel that prayer is ineffective or worthless because we don't see or feel its change. We don't know if it is our fault, or God can't hear us, or something else. Yet, prayer does equal change and I want to begin to show you just how that is true. Prayer DOES equal CHANGE!
Something amazing happened that changed the world and has the opportunity to change our lives every day. But it is easy to lose the wonder of it all. But there were some kings, some magi, some wise men that saw something that made them wonder. They pursued it and it changed their world. How can the wise men's story with Jesus change us today?
Moses went up on "the" mountain, Jesus went up on "the" mountain. Moses spoke to the Israelites, Jesus spoke to His disciples. Moses brought to them the covenant from God, Jesus brought the New Covenant to all who would follow Him. Looking at Jesus' famous sermon on the mount, how did Jesus fulfill the law and bring forth a new covenant to us? and what does that mean for us now?
