When caregiving begins, it often feels sudden, even though the signs may have been building for years. In this episode of Relax, I Got This: Embracing Life After 60, I sit down with Mary Lynch, a Baltimore real estate professional, Senior Home Coach, and aging-in-place advocate, to talk about what happens when life turns you into a caregiver overnight.

Mary shares her deeply personal story of caring for her grandfather and how that experience changed the way she views housing, health, caregiving, accessibility, and aging well at home. We talk about why housing is health, the emotional weight of caregiving, the importance of asking questions, planning ahead, and creating safer homes for ourselves and the people we love.

We also dive into the power of community resources, the role of libraries in caregiver education, the five pillars of aging in place, and why these conversations matter long before a crisis happens.

If you are caring for an aging parent, helping a loved one age in place, navigating senior housing decisions, or simply thinking ahead about your own future, this episode is for you.

Can you start investing in real estate after 60?

Most financial advice in your 50s and 60s focuses on protecting what you have. But what if you still want your money to generate income, build wealth, and create new opportunities?

In this episode of Relax, I Got This! Embracing Life After 60, Dallas Realtor® and Senior Home Coach™ Robin McCoy explores the idea of starting a real estate investment journey later in life.

Robin shares the story of purchasing her own four-plex investment property near Fort Drum in Carthage, New York, and breaks down common myths that stop many people from investing:

• You have to live near your property
• Investment properties must be beautiful
• You must manage everything yourself
• You’re too old to start investing
• Real estate is too risky

This conversation explores rental property income, property management, long-term wealth building, and investing after retirement.

If you’ve ever wondered whether real estate investing could still be possible in your 60s or beyond, this episode may open your mind to new possibilities.

Most people think clutter means they’re messy… or even turning into hoarders. But what if the real problem isn’t you at all?

In this episode of Relax I Got This! Embracing Life After 60, Robin McCoy challenges one of the biggest myths about clutter. The truth? Most homes aren’t dealing with hoarding — they’re dealing with accumulation.

Over the years, life fills our homes with memories, sentimental items, kitchen gadgets, paperwork, clothes that “almost fit,” and things we think we might need someday. Eventually, the house simply runs out of space.

Robin shares practical decluttering strategies inspired by Dana K. White, author of Decluttering at the Speed of Life, including:

✔ Why clutter isn’t a character flaw
✔ The powerful Container Rule for simplifying your home
✔ Why “pretty storage bins” don’t actually solve clutter
✔ The Take It There Now rule that stops clutter from multiplying
✔ Why starting with what you see creates instant momentum

Robin also shares her personal goal to remove 3,000 items from her home and how small daily decisions can dramatically lighten your home, your mind, and your life.

If you're thinking about downsizing, organizing your home, or preparing for the next chapter after 60, this episode offers simple strategies that actually work.

When you suspect dementia or Alzheimer’s, the hardest part often isn’t the diagnosis. It’s the conversation.

In Part 2 of this 2-part episode, Robin McCoy continues the conversation with Vivian Reed (Alzheimer’s Association Community Educator and former caregiver) with practical, compassionate guidance on what to say, what not to say, and how to support someone without escalating fear or frustration.

You’ll learn:

  • How to talk to a loved one when you’re noticing changes (without shame or “interventions”)
  • Why it’s better to be happy than right (and why correcting can backfire)
  • What to track before a doctor visit and why early diagnosis matters more now than ever
  • The importance of planning ahead (power of attorney, trusted advocates, baseline cognition tests)
  • How caregivers can protect their own mental health, set boundaries, and find support

This episode is a must-listen for anyone navigating memory concerns, caregiving stress, or planning for aging well.

When Alzheimer’s enters a family, it rarely announces itself with a siren. It whispers. A missed appointment. A repeated question. A familiar drive that suddenly isn’t familiar.

In Part 1 of this 2-part episode, Robin McCoy sits down with Vivian Reed, Alzheimer’s Association Community Educator and former family caregiver, to talk about what she learned “in the trenches” while caring for her mother after an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Vivian shares the 10 warning signs of dementia and Alzheimer’s, plus the subtle ways these changes can hide in plain sight, especially when couples cover for one another.

You’ll also hear practical, heart-level insights on:

  • The difference between normal aging and concerning memory changes
  • Why music memory can be one of the last connections to fade
  • How changes in routine and environment can heighten stress and confusion
  • Why hearing and vision changes matter more than most people realize
  • What caregiving really looks like day-to-day (and why advocacy is everything)

We continue the conversation with tips on how to approach a loved one, why early detection matters, and helpful resources for families navigating dementia care in part 2 of this episode.

Today I’m talking about something most people avoid until they’re forced to face it: the dangers of not planning.

And let me be clear—not planning is a plan. It’s just a plan where other people end up making decisions for you, usually during moments of stress, fear, or crisis.

In this episode of Relax, I Got This: Embracing Life After 60, I share real stories from families navigating dementia, hospice care, sudden caregiving roles, and rushed financial and housing decisions. I walk through five very real consequences of not planning, including lost money, strained relationships, unsafe living situations, and major life decisions being made in hospital hallways instead of from a place of strength.

This episode isn’t meant to scare you—but it is meant to wake you up. Planning ahead isn’t about paperwork. It’s about protecting the people you love, honoring your wishes, and giving yourself choices when they matter most.

No matter your age, now is the time to start the conversation.

We’re living in a “trust desert”—information is everywhere, but confidence is not. And when you add aging, caregiving, and senior resources into the mix, the stakes get real fast.

In this episode of Relax, I Got This! – Embracing Life After 60, Robin McCoy sits down with Sherri Combs, founder of Silver Streak Senior Services, a new platform designed to make senior care and everyday help easier to find, safer to hire, and more trustworthy to choose.

Sherri shares how years in finance, mortgage, private banking, and working closely with seniors led her to one unavoidable reality: families are forced to “panic search” during urgent moments—and in today’s world, bad actors can look just as credible as the good ones. Silver Streak was built to shorten the distance between what seniors need and what actually shows up.

What you’ll learn in this episode:

  • Why searching for senior help feels like “a needle in a haystack”
  • How scams and misinformation prey on older adults (and caregivers)
  • What it means to vet service providers (background checks, licensing, insurance, accountability)
  • How a searchable, location-based directory can support aging in place and long-distance caregiving
  • How Silver Streak connects families to public resources (county, state, nonprofits) without the rabbit holes
  • The “Just in Case” approach to planning (and why it protects both legacy and family relationships)

Sherri also shares the vision behind Silver Streak Senior Solutions (501(c)(3)), which helps low-to-moderate income seniors with essential home and car needs—like ramps, grab bars, safety modifications, and critical repairs—so one fall doesn’t change everything.

If you have a parent, grandparent, neighbor, or friend who’s aging… this conversation is for you. Because everybody has a senior—and they deserve better than guesswork.

As 2025 comes to a close and we step into 2026, many of us start thinking about New Year’s resolutions — and just as often, why they don’t stick. In this final episode of the year, Robin McCoy takes a refreshing, realistic look at resolutions through a new lens: simple vs. complex goals.

Instead of overwhelming ourselves with massive, all-or-nothing resolutions like “declutter the entire house” or “downsize by March,” Robin breaks down why small, simple actions create real momentum — especially for adults over 60 and those helping aging parents navigate life transitions.

From decluttering and downsizing to letting go of emotional clutter, Robin shares personal stories, practical examples, and insights inspired by Decluttering at the Speed of Life by Dana K. White and the concept of consistency over intensity. You’ll learn how to:

  • Identify complex resolutions that set you up for frustration
  • Start small without guilt
  • Make progress without chasing perfection
  • Support aging loved ones without forcing change
  • Let go of “stuff” without letting go of meaning

This episode is especially helpful if you’re:
✔ Feeling overwhelmed by clutter or downsizing
✔ Supporting aging parents or loved ones
✔ Planning a move, lifestyle change, or next chapter
✔ Ready for sustainable habits in 2026

Robin also shares how gentle, intentional steps — even 15 minutes at a time — can create lasting change and peace of mind.

In Part 1 of Embracing Life After 60 with Annalee Kruger, Robin McCoy sits down with Annalee Kruger, founder of Care Right Inc., to talk about the “thing nobody wants to talk about”… until a crisis forces it.

Annalee shares what she’s learned after decades in senior care: most families don’t plan until a medical emergency hits—then they’re trying to understand dementia, caregiver burnout, Medicare vs. Medicaid, assisted living vs. nursing homes, and the true cost of aging in place… all at once.

You’ll hear why proactive aging planning creates calmer, more productive family conversations—and why waiting often leads to overwhelm, conflict, and expensive last-minute decisions.

✅ Topics include:

  • Caregiver burnout and family mediation
  • Dementia education (wandering, safety, supervision needs)
  • Why “Medicare will pay for it” is a common (and costly) myth
  • Power of attorney, living wills, and what families scramble for in crisis
  • The real monthly cost of 24/7 home care and why planning matters

Older adults in DFW facing divorce, this one’s for you. 💔➡️💚

In this episode of Relax, I Got This! Embracing Life After 60, Robin McCoy sits down with Freda Ross, long-time DivorceCare facilitator, jewelry artist, and gray divorce survivor, to talk honestly about what it’s really like to navigate divorce in your 50s, 60s, and 70s.

They dive into:

  • What “gray divorce” is and why it feels so different later in life
  • Why divorce is a true grief process (just like a death) and why you’re not “crazy” if you can’t cook, clean, or stop crying
  • The difference between being blindsided in a “happy” marriage vs leaving a toxic or abusive one
  • The danger of jumping into a rebound relationship and creating “double trauma”
  • How DivorceCare’s 13-week group support program helps you feel less alone and start healing
  • Why having support from people who don’t love you (yet) can sometimes be more helpful than well-meaning friends & family
  • Practical ways to re-discover who you were before you were a spouse or caregiver
  • How Frida rebuilt a joyful life with handmade jewelry, theatre, travel, girlfriends, dinner parties, and fun

Freda shares powerful stories from her own journey after an 18-year marriage, including:

  • Showing up to DivorceCare and only being able to say her name
  • Realizing she was still “holding on” in subtle ways, like letting her ex keep picking up his mail
  • Watching participants go from broken to strong enough to become facilitators themselves
  • Ambush emotions, grief “beach balls,” and how you know you’re actually healing

You’ll hear real talk about:

  • Loneliness after divorce & why it can hit so hard after 20–40 years together
  • Why it’s OK if your house is a mess and you can’t keep up with laundry right now
  • How to start getting out of the house again (parks, malls, museums, groups)
  • Rebuilding identity: “Who am I now?” and “What actually brings me joy?”
  • Choosing healing, instead of staying stuck in pain and shame

🎧 This episode is especially for you if:

  • You’re over 50 and going through a gray divorce
  • You feel ashamed, stuck, or like everyone else “moved on” faster than you
  • Friends and family are tired of hearing the story, but you still hurt
  • You’re tempted to numb out with a new relationship, alcohol, shopping, or busyness
  • You want to believe there’s life, joy, laughter, travel, and connection on the other side

In this episode of the Agent-to-Agent series of the show, I speak with Melanie Ruiz, who is based in Rhode Island. Melanie is a future coffeeshop owner building a real estate business to help fund a life creating connections and community.

Being a single mom of twins with a remote corporate job offered a lot of opportunity to find fun ways to work and raise kids on a tight budget. Coffeeshops provided a fun way to get the kids out of the house, with small, yummy snacks and fun crafts while Melanie could get some work done. This started the dream of creating more spaces for people and families of all types to connect with others without spending a ton of money. Coffeeshops don’t profit right away, so Melanie took her corporate sales career and decided to build a real estate business. This gives the freedom and financial structure to accomplish her dream and help others accomplish theirs.

12 years later, Melanie and her husband Damian have bought the investment property for their first coffeehouse and have started buildout. Melanie and Damian also own a contracting and remodeling business, partnering with real estate investors in the pursuit of creating long term wealth in holding and flipping real estate properties.

In this episode of the Agent-to-Agent series of the show, I speak with Brittany Sacco, who is based in the central Florida area, from Lakeland to Champions Gate and beyond. "Finding the 'Florida Dream' one home at a time" is Brittany's ultimate goal. When she moved from Michigan to Florida back in 2013, she came packed with enthusiasm and the energy to accomplish anything she put her mind to. Along with being a wife and a middle momma to a beautiful, differently abled daughter, Brittany is a Disney enthusiast and feels that, as Walt Disney said, "If you can dream it, you can do it!" This is why she decided to switch career gears and move into Real Estate to help find others their Florida dream, their home dreams, and, most of all, the hidden potential of every home she shows.

Who you're in business with matters! If you're looking for a motivated Real Estate Agent in the Central Florida area who is ready to help you find your perfect upgrade, downsize, or anything in-between, use any of the methods listed below to get into contact with her.

In this episode of the Agent-to-Agent series of the show, I speak with Marilyn Burke, who is based in the Boston area, but is also licensed in Rhode Island. She has been in the Real Estate game for 20 years, and but also has history as a teacher by degree and a weight loss coach. She had her own weight loss clinic franchise when she found her way into Real Estate. A couple clients of hers, a husband-and-wife Realtor team, invited her to run their company. At first, she declined, but eventually she realized she had hit the ceiling with her weight loss franchise, and the couple finally convinced her to get her Real Estate license years later. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Marilyn takes her background as a psychologist and weight loss consultant and incorporates that into her Real Estate business. She says it's all about consultations; she makes sure to keep in touch and to keep that trust that is required between a Realtor and their client. She tries to get her clients' life situation to know why they want to go through this change.

In this episode of the Agent-to-Agent segment of the show, I speak with Anne Rosen, who is based in downtown Chicago. Anne's journey into real estate began during the time that many view as the worst economic time in recent memory, and she was able to defy the rest of the industry's pessimism, as she didn't have any experiences to compare it with.

Before becoming a realtor, she was in the hospitality industry, working for Marriott International in three different cities in the Midwest. The background that comes with working at the actual hotels mirror what being a real estate professional is all about: maintaining relationships and providing customer service.

While not originally from Chicago, she ended up there because of her work with Marriott. After her work ended, she decided she didn't want to leave the area and wasn't sure what to do next until a former colleague recommended Real Estate.

In this episode, I speak with Todd Campbell, whose Farmers Insurance Agency is serving 99% of people that come in with 99% of their business and personal insurance needs. He opened that agency in 2009, where he serves the entire state of Texas. He and his team have grown the agency primarily through referrals focused on the Real Estate market.

Many people talk to their insurance agent like they would talk to a car salesman, shopping by price, without understanding what the real costs are. There’s no way to reduce the price of insurance without reducing the protections. It’s important to have an agent that is willing to tell you everything you need to know to make the right decision for your situation.

Agents come free with the policy, so take advantage of having a consultant on your side!

In this episode, I'm back with Mylo Draven of VIP Mortgage to talk about what's going on in the finance world. Mylo is an author, speaker, and an Award-Winning Loan Officer. He doesn't pull any punches when working with his borrowers; he wants to make sure every client knows what the lending process entails and requires. His greatest pride is a successful transaction where the new homeowner is happy.

"It just starts with a thought: 'I want to buy a home.' The next thought should not be, 'ugh but my credit is horrible' or 'oh I don't have enough money' or 'oh the rates are high.' The next thought should be 'I need to call a lender. I need to call a realtor. Keep the forward momentum because ultimately what someone thinks is a hard stop, for you and I is nothing. It's just a day in the life of the business."

"A vast majority of Americans don't have a budget; they don't know what's going in and what's coming out, if they overspent for the month. They don't know, okay, well, here's my goal for the month and I messed that up badly this month and I'm going to make it up in the next month. They don't have a plan, which is pretty normal. Most people aren't financially oriented. I went to school for finance, I love economic everything. I watch the markets all day. In this episode, I'm back with Season 1 guest: Alesia Dutton, the Reverse Mortgage Lady. Alesia was recruited into the Reverse Mortgage Industry in 2013. Her relationships with local bankers and financial advisors made for a perfect transition into Reverse Mortgage. She was hired to do Reverse and Reverse only. To this day she is still hyper-focused on this market.

Alesia has been on the Board of NAIFA New Mexico and Dallas (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors). This position allows her access to up-to-date information on government changes that can affect retirement and asset growth.

She has dedicated her career to educating bankers, loan officers, financial advisors, and realtors about the Reverse Mortgage program. She prides herself on personally walking all homeowners through the process and getting to know them as individuals. Their needs and timeline are always the priority!

There are so many misconceptions about Reverse Mortgages, and Alesia is here to clear everything up for us! She tells us that Reverse Mortgages are a refinance on your house for seniors over 62, but no payments are required until you are no longer living in your home (whether you’ve passed on or have moved out). When you take out a Reverse Mortgage, the bank or government DOES NOT own your home, it is still in your name. You just need to continue to pay insurance and taxes, as you would with any loan.

Who you're in business with matters! To get in contact with Alesia for all your reverse mortgage needs, use any of the methods listed below.

In this episode, I'm back with Megan Reeves of Pacesetter Homes, talking about new construction just in time for the spring market. We've seen lots of changes in the housing market, at least in DFW (and probably most other places as well), within the last six months, and Megan is going to give us the lowdown on the new construction market today.

Megan grew up in Real Estate but started working in new home construction in 2014. She's worked for a handful of different builders but has been working for Pacesetter Homes since mid-2020 and can't say enough great things about their management team and ethos. She actually lives in a Pacesetter Home with her husband and their 3 fur babies, and they absolutely love it there.

Megan says that in January of this year, she sold more homes than in her entire first year in New Home Sales, indicating that more homebuyers are looking for new construction homes vs older homes.

In this episode, I speak with Karla Corcoran about the different types of lenders, so when the need arises, you'll know who you can trust to work with. Karla has been a Residential Loan Officer since 1997. She is currently with Groves Captial, which is a Broker with over 160 lender relationships and who will shop on their client's behalf to find the perfect loan for one's personal situation.

I feature a lot of lenders on my show because, along with the agent, we are the first two people you need to be speaking with when purchasing a home and getting that whole process started. Every lender approaches things differently, just like Realtors; you want someone you can relate to, whom you can trust, etc. It's important to have good team around you no matter what you're doing.

In this episode, I speak with Neighborhood Solar Guru Mike Finney about solar energy. Neighborhood Solar is the only true solar brokerage in Texas. They shop the entire solar market to make sure their customers make the best possible solar decision. They take an education approach with no stress, no pressure; they love partnering with other industries and giving other forms of revenue with little-to-no effort or investment.

When Mike was looking for solar energy as a consumer, he saw the potential within the industry but realized just how unregulated it was and wanted to make a change. He did his research and noticed how every company out there seemed to have their own ways of doing things. Now he does the work for his clients, partnering them with trusted solar energy companies and taking a lot of stress out of their decision-making.

Take a listen to the episode to learn more about solar energy, and reach out to Mike via the channels listed in the links below. Also available on your favorite podcast players!

Today I talk with Megan Reeves about new construction homes and the difference between a resell and a new build. Megan grew up in Real Estate, but started working in new home construction in 2014. She's worked for a handful of different builders, but has been working for Pacesetter Homes since mid-2020 and can't say enough great things about their management team and ethos. She actually lives in a Pacesetter Home with her husband and their 3 fur babies, and they absolutely love it there.

In her downtime she loves to read, garden, hike, do yoga, craft, and (in her words) spends way too much time on streaming services! She started her business Instagram page this fall, and she's been loving the creative outlet and chance to network with other real estate professionals and potential buyers. She says social media marketing is actual a closeted-introvert's dream!

In this episode I talk with Nedra Hines with Effortless Charm Staging. She specializes in staging vacant homes in the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex. Originally from a small town located just outside of Houston, Texas, she graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Finance and has lived in the Dallas area for over 20 years. In addition to vacant home staging, she offers occupied consultations and paint color consultations. She previously served as the VP of Membership of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) Dallas Chapter and continues her membership with RESA National.

She has her Staging Design Professional and Master Color Consultant certifications with Staging Studio and Occupied Consultation Specialist certification with Bobbie McGrath. The training courses helped her discover what she didn't know about Home Staging and what an involved business it is. The thing she loves the most about the Home Staging industry is the commitment of the seasoned stagers and their willingness to elevate the profession so that those in her profession are respected for what they provide. Nedra explains that, when starting out, it’s very easy to think that staging homes will be fun and easy. Thankfully, she has her Project Management Professional certification because it’s mostly project management with a bit of flair!

One of the most exciting endeavors for this year for Nedra involves attending more of the RESA National webinars because they provide a ton of value when it comes to professional development. In her downtime, you will find her browsing different inquiries in the staging Facebook groups, attending weekly Toastmasters meetings, exercising, or watching YouTube.

Todd Campbell has been in the insurance business since 2009 working with all types of insurance including auto, home, business, and more. He has built his team to 10 fully licensed agents to serve their clients.

Todd and I discuss why insurance is important and what, as a consumer, you need to keep an eye out for. Often introduced to clients in a real estate transaction, they work to develop lifelong relationships.

You'll want an agent in your corner when trying to decide if it's worth making a claim. If you make a claim that'll pay out nothing but still go on your record, Todd will advise you against making the claim in the first place, as a call with him can be "off the record." As he is known to say, "Every policy comes with a free agent... Use It!"

"If you’re looking to buy or refinance a home, I’m here for you, whatever your dream looks like. My mission is to break down barriers so we can all get a delicious slice of the American Dream. We’ll do it together and celebrate together when we’ve gone from application to keys."

Let me worry about that for you. You have enough to do with arranging movers, packing up all your prized possessions, and preparing emotionally for a big life transition. I get it. I’m here to put out the fires for you so you can worry about yourself and your loved ones. And I am absolutely honored to do it."

Musician, songwriter, and actor Eric Oberto talks with Host Robin McCoy about his journey through success, loss, and innovation.

Eric made his first thunderous splash into the entertainment industry as the singer/songwriter/front man of the popular synth-core band Tungsten Coil.

In 2015, he was diagnosed with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in his right ear. Being a play-by-ear musician and songwriter, when his right ear malfunctioned- his ability to clearly paint musical pictures through synesthesia was severely impaired (and almost lost).

Over the next few years, he made multiple unsuccessful attempts to overcome his disability and feared that his songwriting days were over. He then became obsessed with finding a solution to overcome his handicap. In 2020 he finally found a path to create music using his one good ear and fill in the gaps of the broken ear by making use of computer software tools. These tools allow him to visually identify frequencies that he can no longer hear, and he is now able to visually see the stereo field where sounds reside. He also found a device that allows him to independently EQ the left and right sides of his headphones. This device gives him the ability to boost all the lost hearing frequencies in the right ear; to fill in the missing gaps.

These amazing tools do not make him whole again, but they do provide a new path forward to pursue his musical dreams. Now, against all odds, Eric is writing the best music of his career.
