Pastors need to know when to sit down and shut up.

Welcome to The Pastor's Voice. I'm Reuel Sample and I am passionate about Christian worldview.

I continue my discussion with Dave Lutes, minister, church planter and master trainer in leadership development. Today we talk about how important it is that pastors develop leaders within the church, and how rewarding it can be when those same leaders tell pastors to sit down – they have it from here.

Find out more about Dave Lutes at http://authenticchristianmanager.com/

Next week I conclude my conversation with Dave Lutes.  We talk about the necessity of church leaders – both pastors and church members – to be intentionally available for God to use them however He wants.  And we talk about his new book – Guidance, Goofs, and Grace.

Today I start a three-part discussion with Dave Lutes - minister, church planter and master trainer in leadership development.  Today we talk about how pastors through intentional discipleship can develop church members into needed leaders in the Christian community.

Next week I continue my discussion with Dave Lutes, including how pastors can often make the mistake of becoming approachable as they go about leading the church.

Churches have skipped science.  It shows in our Christian Worldview.

Welcome to the Pastor's Voice.  I am Reuel Sample.  I talk to Pastors and other Christian leaders about ways we can encourage a Christian worldview to the glory and honor of Jesus Christ.

We kick off our 2023 season by talking to Dr. Fazale "Fuz" Rana - President, CEO and senior scholar of Reasons To Believe - an organization dedicated to communicating the powerful case for God's existence and the Bible's reliability - to both Christians and non-Christians.

Welcome to the Friday update on the Pastor's Voice. I'm Reuel Sample. The news this week has been the forgiveness of student debt and student loans through the Biden administration. We're not going to get into the politics of that. But what we are getting into is this continued idea that forgiveness of student debt is the same thing of forgiveness of sins on the cross. Over and over again, I have seen on Facebook and other social media that we as Christians should be for this whole idea of the forgiving of student debt because Jesus forgave our debt on the cross.

I started this podcast because I think the Christian church here in America has not done the greatest of jobs in preparing its members to meet the challenges to the faith that daily come our way.

I will continue to challenge the church to reclaim its responsibility to preach Jesus Christ crucified, and to teach a Christian Worldview to its members.  Join us.

The battle lines have been drawn over abortion - but churches continue to give mixed messages to their members.

I continue my discussion with Cathy Humbarger of Reprotection.org.  We talk about the various laws that will go into effect if Roe v Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court.  We also talk about the lack of support churches have given women who have had an abortion, and the practical measures we can do to change that.

Can we stop the out-of-control abortion in this country simply by insisting that abortion clinics follow the law?

Today I start a conversation with Cathie Humbarger from Reprotection.org.  She talks about how her organization has successfully limited - or even shut down - abortion providers - simply by insisting that they follow the same rules as everyone else.

Next week I conclude my conversation with Cathie as we talk about the various laws that are being passed in states across the country - and what our Christian worldview demands that we do about abortion.

Both culture and the church continue to misunderstand millennials - and we are denying them the kingdom of God in the process.

Can we find God in just looking around us at creation? Can we know what He wants us to do?

Welcome to the Pastor’s Voice. I am Reuel Sample - and I am passionate about Christian Worldview and the various ways we can proclaim the good news of Christ. I talk to Pastors and Christian leaders about the issues of the day to encourage all believers in Jesus to live a Christian Worldview. On Sundays, I share my own thoughts on faith-based Worldview - based on an ongoing study of the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Micah 6:6-8

With what shall I come to the Lord
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings,
With yearling calves?

Does the Lord take pleasure in thousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give Him my firstborn for my wrongdoings,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

He has told you, mortal one, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?

John 3:16 - 21

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. 18 The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed. 21 But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed [f]as having been performed in God.”

From the Westminster Shorter Catechism:

Q3: What do the scriptures principally teach?
A: The scriptures principally teach what man is to believe concerning God, and what duty God requires of man.

How can churches encourage their members to read and engage in Scripture?

Welcome to the Pastor's Voice. I am Reuel Sample - and I am talking to Pastors and Church Leaders about the current issues of the day that are impacting their ministries and the people they serve.

I continue my conversation with Tom Vander Well - host of the Wayfarer Podcast. We talk about the ways churches can encourage a daily reading of Scripture, as well as how Pastors can develop the gifts of preaching and teaching found throughout their congregations.

Tom Vander Well is a "wayfaring stranger" on this road of life. Husband, father, writer, CEO, actor, playwright, preacher, back porch musician, and follower of Jesus, he shares his thoughts and observations on the journey. Each weekday he offers 5-10 minute Chapter-a-Day (CaD) reflections on one chapter of the Bible, perfect for a daily commute. Tom then adds longer Wayfarer Weekend (WW) episodes with musings and interviews on various themes of life, relationships, and Spirit. Why don't we take the time to read just one chapter a day?

Welcome to the Pastor's Voice. I am Reuel Sample - and I am talking to Pastors and Church Leaders about the current issues of the day that are impacting their ministries and the people they serve.

Today I start my conversation with Tom Vander Well. He is a husband, father, actor and teacher - and host of the Wayfarer Podcast. We talk about how Christians can get so much out of the Bible from just a chapter a day - and why Christians are so reluctant to open the Scriptures and make reading of God's Word a part of their daily lives.

Tom's "Wayfarer" blog (tomvanderwell.com) has been a source of thought and inspiration since 2006.

How do we make sure our church members are safe in their marriages?

Welcome to the Pastor's Voice.  I am Reuel Sample - and I am talking to Pastors and Church Leaders about the current issues of the day that are impacting their ministries and the people they serve.

I conclude my conversation with Gretchen Baskerville, author of The Lifesaving Divorce: Hope for People Leaving Destructive Relationships.  We discuss some practical ways congregations can identify troubled marriages and provide safety for those within them.  We also discuss the need for churches to have a frank discussion about divorce  - and how a written policy condoning divorce because of abuse can be a powerful tool of healing for all those involved.
