Today I spoke with Dr Grant Willson all about Sleep! It's such an important topic, and probably one that we don't place enough emphasis on in our practice, but more importantly in our lives.
Grant knows this all too well, having worked in the space of sleep medicine for over 20 years. Grant completed his PhD evaluating new therapies for patients with sleep apnea and heart failure. Grant founded the Sleep and Lifestyle Clinic in Canberra and is still the director there - fair to say he has plenty of experience in this field!
We speak about the importance of sleep, its link to MSK injuries, long term complications such as diabetes, as well as specific sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.
I learnt so much from speaking to Grant and I'm sure you will too!

Welcome to Season 3, in which I'll be travelling around Europe to interview a variety of guests in person throughout 2023!
This is such an interesting topic, and one that I knew next to nothing about before speaking to John and Alex. It really challenged a lot of previously held assumptions that I had, and I'm sure you'll have a similar experience.
John's background is a GP, whilst Alex is an anthropologist. They conduct research together, and it was amazing to get their different perspectives on each question due to their different clinical backgrounds. John and Alex will be keynote speakers at the "Preventing Overdiagnosis 2023 International Conference", which I'm hopeful i will be able to attend!
We speak about what overdiagnosis is, practical examples, why it is harmful to our patients, how physios can avoid overdiagnosis and deliver high quality care, and much more.
This episode was recorded live in John's office in Copenhagen, Denmark. I hope you enjoy!
