In this series of 3 podcasts we will focus on 5 pivotal movements; Cubism, Dada, Surrealism, Pop Art and Minimalism. In this episode we will pick two art movements that couldn’t be more different. Pop Art is from the 1940’s -1950’s and is more figurative while Minimalism is more abstract and from the 1960’s and early 1970’s.
Surrealism grew out of Dada but the both come from different time periods and cultural contexts. We will compare and contrast both of them.
In this episode we will cover an avant-garde movement that was a revolution for European painting and sculpture. It has been said that, Cubism may be the most influential art movement of the century, the 20th century.
