My podcast is about authenticity, positivity, inspiration and motivation. My mission is to lift, inspire and motivate others through stories of struggle and overcoming challenges in face of insurmountable odds. How one idea can influence someone’s mindset to continue working to achieve goals. I want to give people strength to continue fighting when they are afraid or have lost faith in themselves.
Marriage rates are declining and so are birth rates. While costs are going up. Love is all you need regardless of circumstances or costs. It requires live to get married, have a family and to put kids through college. Regardless of all the data and statistics, married couples do better because of love. I also believe, people are getting married for the wrong reasons due to income and education and there is no way to measure love. For example, a poor uneducated man prior to marriage is still worthy of love because love will drive him to become a better man due to his wife and family.
It is confirmed by research over the years that over 70%+ of divorces are initiated by women. It is also confirmed by research and surveys that 70% of adults surveyed across the United States agree that a man should be a good provider to his family financially.
Reason for divorces,
1. Incompatibility
2. Infidelity
3. Financial
In addition, women also feel that marriage is oppressive, are more sensitive to difficulties and desire more equality. There can be a host of reasons . But here is my theory.
1 in 5 Millienials are living in poverty, 14 million people are classified as poor (earning 13k per year). 71% of surveyed adults state that a man should be a good provider financially to support his family. College educated vs non-college educated people earn on average $80k per year vs $40k per year. If you want to give your the best opportunities for marriage a college degree is worth it.
Statistics are based on Pew Research and National Center for Education.
Raising a child today is extremely expensive and it’s important to understand what the cost implications are if you’re thinking about expanding your family. Due to the declining marriage and birth rates in the United States I wanted to understand why this is happening. Millennials are delaying marriage and becoming parents later in life and sometimes foregoing it altogether. I wanted to understand this for myself and also try to get a sense of what the future looks like for my generation and beyond.
Marriage is the single most important decision that we make in our lives and as a millennial more and more of us are deferring it at a later age for our careers, personal reasons or financial. Millennials make up the largest generation of today people born from 1981 - 2000 at 22% and only 44% of us are getting married at the prime age of 23-38 we are choosing to marry later in life or not getting married altogether. Marriage is at its lowest rate in history compared to other generations before us.
Growing up, I had a lot of trauma. The trauma of my parents surviving the Vietnam War. I had a lot of personal issues to confront in order to move forward with improving my life and well-being. Everything is a process. Healing is a process, forgiving is a process, acceptance is a process. Only until we amend our personal issues can we begin to take the next step to building the life that we want.
