As most of my work involves stealth startups it was hard to go into details about what I do as a Fractional Executive but I did give a good high-level overview of our value.

Today my guest is Dr. Robert Duprey, MD a Psychiatry resident of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and alumni of Oceania University of Medicine. What makes Dr. Dupreys story so fascinating is that, he took a non-traditional path to getting his MD, a sort of "second-career" individual who went to medical school after 20 years of being a Psychiatric nurse and serving in the military.
I’m Rob Duprey and I’ve worn many proverbial hats in life. First and foremost and the most important hat I wear is “Daddy!” Everything else is secondary to that. Life has afforded me more opportunities than I am worthy of. To be the best dad in the world, life allowed me a career in the Army as first a registered nurse in psychiatry, and a master’s level professional counselor culminating with a dream assignment as a staff psychiatric nurse practitioner at the world's most prestigious military organization: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda MD.
But life wasn’t done molding me. It was time to slow down and pass the torch in the Army so I retired and went to medical school in my early 40’s. A long arduous process that culminated in now being a licensed physician (MD) practicing and training to specialize in psychiatry. I’m happy, I’m a dad, and I get to wake up smiling every day as an American Physician."

His bio: "My name is Williams Serrano. Many call me Will or Waleed for my Muslim name. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science In Biology from Montclair State University in 2019 and I am currently a Temple Student starting my D1 in August 2023. Prior to taking up this career, I worked in Big Pharma and Medical Labs seeing if these were routes for me. Although they were great pay and amazing experiences it never satiated my actual passion. I hope that this podcast sheds some light to undergraduates thinking of pursuing a career in dentistry through my experiences of the DAT, Application process, and interviews or even some insight of how undergrad is like."
I know Waleed personally as we were introduced at a Professional dinner in Paterson NJ many years ago. Waleed is very active in the Muslim community, charing internal religious groups at Islamic Center of Passaic County. I have relied on him as a resource as I routinely deal with underserved populations in Paterson and Newark, and my pro-Bono work benefits from his insight as someone who empathizes strongly with these populations and can identify gaps in service delivery with existing social health programs.

Today, my guest is Samir Saleem a Full Stack engineer in Texas working with ADP. He's worked as both a full-time employee and an independent contractor.
Samir graduated with his bachelor's in computer science from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2020. He was born and raised in New Jersey, active in his community with outreach programs such as Young Muslims and engaging in programs through mosques such as Nida-Ul-Islam and Darul Islah. Since moving to Texas for work his passion for helping people continues and he is involved in his local community in Dallas.
I know Samir personally as we did Hifz (memorization of the Holy Qur'an) together and professionally I have relied on him as a resource when dealing with data-oriented projects. His knowledge of analytics came in handy when I was a Chief Data Officer, as an external resource I can recommend him as he knows how to deliver.

This series will focus on featured guest speakers. I am taking a break from the anecdotes, and Q&As and bringing in new faces, fresh experiences, and unique perspectives. Today my guest is Dr. Mubashir A. Chaudhry DMD, a Pediatric Dentist in Florida. Dr. Chaudhry did his Bachelors in Math at the University of Florida, graduating and then staying to attend University of Florida College of Dentistry graduating in 1994, followed by a a few years of practice and a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at University of Texas Health San Antonio.
Dr. Chaudhry runs not one but two dental practices (One in Daytona Beach and the other in Windermere) on top of other entrepreneurial endeavors (He's the VP of Business Development for Carestack and CEO of Remote Staff Solutions) He somehow manages to work 40 hours a day and still take time for family, community and other passions.

I just wanted to mention that when it comes to comparing employes based on size, it's nearly impossible to predict how stable an opportunity is. I've seen big companies that are terrible resource-wise and small companies that are super stable, if you're comparing companies I assure you, size is probably the last thing that will affect your experience.

As opposed to my earlier anecdote where I had a problematic employee and was forced to fire them, I talk about an employee I had who kept presenting one difficulty after another where I kept having to support them. In the short-term, it was one headache after another, but in the long-term, I built a strong relationship with a person who I helped in their time of need, and by using my empathy I ensured that they will always be a resource simply because I treated them humanely in a hard time.
Too many managers are quick to fire, punish, shame, or otherwise break their employees down the second they stop being productive, I opt to be an empathic leader who elevates and empowers his employees, investing in them so that they can be their best selves.

This is just a single example of a time I had to terminate an employee. I detail the steps I took after an allegation was made, how I spoke to the employee, how I attempted to educate them, my thoughts after the incident, and my advice for others facing a similar situation.
