Elizabeth Guilbeault, energy reader extraordinaire, is back on the podcast for another conversation between friends. This time, about how to stop hiding from yourself and reclaim your power.

You may be hiding from yourself because you’re afraid of being seen by others. Or perhaps you are hiding from yourself because you don’t believe you can accomplish the things you really want to accomplish in your life – your deepest hopes and dreams. It can feel safer to hide from yourself and bury things down deep, but if you want to live your life in alignment with who you truly are, it is time to reclaim your power. Today I’m sharing three life lessons from a Human Design Projector. Learning that I am a Projector in Human Design has had a monumental impact on my life. Not because I hold everything about it as an absolute truth, but because it helped me to see and understand myself in ways I never had before. It has helped me to understand my energy better and supports me in navigating how I show up in my life and business. Whether or not you are a human design projector, I hope this information supports you and any human design projectors you may have in your life.

Change from Within is here to help you uncover your unique path to living your most aligned life. Part of what I'd like to do more often on this page is share some personal experiences that I've had and the ways that they have helped me and supported me.

My hope and intention with sharing my lessons as a projector in Human Design is that it may help and support you in some way too. Hearing some of these lessons might unlock something for you with whatever it is that you're going through.

My intention around sharing examples from Human Design also relates to my profile as a 3/5 self projected projector. My life is all about trial and error, experimentation and learning by doing. There are a lot of lessons and there’s a lot of wisdom that comes from that. As I've embraced that more, I’ve been able to feel great about sharing it with you in case it helps you with any aspect of your life.

If you feel behind in life or think you should be farther along, this episode is for you because you are where you need to be. Whether you’ve been feeling doubt, uncertainty or worry that you haven’t reached a certain goal yet, when you identify these thought patterns, you’ll be able to shift your thoughts and change your life.

You may have times where you feel down on yourself or you’re hard on yourself for some reason – we all do! One of the ways that it can show up is by thinking that you should be farther along. You may think that you should have done things differently. You may also wonder about past decisions and think that if you made a different decision, you would be somewhere different. The mind loves to find ways to keep us safe and that is oftentimes in the form of being hard on ourselves in an effort to keep us where we are.

When you recognize these types of thoughts and when you find yourself saying things like you should be farther along, you’ll be able to shift them to more supportive thoughts. These thoughts and habits don't serve you so when you can change them to something else, it will shift your entire world and way of being.

The more understanding that you have around this, the easier it will be to embrace where you are right now and create from this place.

Negative self talk impacts so many of us. In today’s episode, you’ll learn examples of negative self talk and how to change it. You might experience negative self talk when you make a mistake or things don’t go the way you planned. That’s ok! Our brains are wired to focus on the negative and to get stuck in patterns. The trick is to understand this and be able to reframe negative thoughts for more positive, supportive thoughts.

In today’s episode, you’ll learn how our brains are wired for negativity, five examples of negative self talk, and how you can reframe these thoughts. Awareness is the first step in understanding where you are today and understanding yourself in a different way. It is the first step in order to be able to change negative self talk to positive thoughts which will then allow to shift your thoughts, uncover more of your path and discover more of who you really are.

Remember, this is a journey and the path is not linear. How we show up in the day to day is where change really happens.

Today’s episode is about the Secret to Finding Yourself Again. We all feel lost at different points in our lives. Whether you feel lost after becoming a mom, navigating a divorce, or from feeling stuck in a career you don’t want, there are ways to find yourself again.

In this episode, I want to talk about what it means to find yourself again and how you can go about doing that because it is something that many of us deal with on a day to day basis.

This doesn't have to be a big midlife crisis type of finding yourself again, although I do feel that that happens for a lot of people. This is about all of the times when we're at points in our lives that we want to change.

In this episode you’ll learn what the journey to finding yourself again may look like, how you can navigate it, where you may get stuck as well as tools and resources to support you.

I’m celebrating that I got my French driving license. Hooray! While France does recognize and exchange licenses with some US states, it doesn’t recognize all 50 states. Unfortunately for me, New Jersey is not one of the states that you can exchange licenses with.

In today’s episode I’m sharing behind the scenes of what it was like to get my french driver’s license. It was a multi step process studying and taking an online exam plus lessons and a road test - all in French. I felt like a beginner all over again. I also noticed some interesting things that are different from the US driving systems. For example, France doesn’t have in person locations like a DMV (department of motor vehicles). Everything that can be is consolidated online - super interesting for a systems person to navigate!

I hope you enjoy this episode and hearing more about what it’s like to drive in France. I include:

  • Driving rule differences
  • Taking an online exam
  • What driving lessons are like
  • What I had to unlearn and new things to learn after 20+ years of driving
  • The list goes on…

If you’re navigating something that is challenging or a big milestone for you, you’ve got this! Take it one step at a time and you’ll be able to accomplish anything.

What intentions did you set at the beginning of the year? In today’s episode, we’re going to look at where you are halfway through the year. This isn’t about getting to specific goals. This is taking a holistic view of your life and who YOU are - how YOU are moving about the world in all of your beauty.

You’ll hear a perspective to support you on your journey as well as prompts to help you identify where you’re at and where you want to go. It is ok if you didn’t set intentions earlier in the year. Every day and every moment is a chance for something new.

Remember, it doesn’t have to happen all at once. It’s in the small, incremental moments that we find lasting change - the times when no one is looking.

In this week’s episode I’m sharing seven simple habits to radically change your life. Full disclosure, these habits sound simple, but they may not be easy to implement. The truth is, most of us struggle with at least one (or many) of these habits! I have found over the years, with my clients as well as myself, that these really are the habits that have the biggest impact on our days.

If you’re looking to radically change your life and move through the world, then start with these basics. There is not a magic pill that will make these changes for you. The beauty of change comes in the small steps you take every day. Over time, you will see a difference. I’m sure of it.

Today’s pep talk is a candid conversation where I’m sharing what I see happens when we go after our dreams. There can be many reasons we aren’t taking action in our day to day lives. Plus, procrastination shows up in many forms and we may not even realize it’s happening to us.

In this episode, you’ll hear about ways that you can work through these blocks to reach your dreams. I’m also including my favorite prompt to get through cycles of stuck and move into taking action. Realizing your dreams is right on the other side of your biggest challenges. You’ve got this!

Welcome to the Power Series. We spoke about the Power of Your Mind, the Power of Your Body and the Power of Your Highest Self. Now we’re putting it all together and talking about how to get what you want in your life by using the Results Pyramid. You can use this tool to change your life in tangible ways.

It’s one thing to know what to do, it’s another to actually do it. Integration is in the showing up, the trying, the experimenting and the reflecting. It is a cycle of continuous exploration.

Transformation is a process. It’s a becoming that happens over time. With some times of acceleration and some times of slowness. No matter what phase you are in, you are always evolving and changing. When you pay attention to this process you’ll be able to guide and inform the direction you take in a much more meaningful and joy-filled way.

This series explores three different parts of you that make up personal transformation. Whether you’re going through a life change (marriage, divorce, health, etc) or a career shift (job loss, new job, etc), a big piece of your own personal growth is happening.

As you uncover these parts of you, discover new things about yourself, peel back the layers of your life and how your journey has unfolded, you'll start to see these different pieces of yourself come out. I really believe that all three of these together make up your nature. They really guide and inform what you are here to do and how you move through the world. How you become the leader of your own life. It's really part of your inner compass.

Tune in to this series to learn more about how you can identify where you’re at and shift to lead a life with more possibility, joy and fulfillment - in whatever way feels best to YOU.

Welcome to the Power Series. We spoke about the Power of Your Mind and the Power of Your Body. Now we’re diving into the Power of Your Inner Knowing. Your inner knowing (spirit, higher self, soul, inner knowing, whatever else you’d like to call it..) is your inner compass. It is what guides your true self. It is who you are deep down, who you came here to be and it knows what you truly desire. This week we’re talking about how you connect to this inner knowing and how you work with it to inform where you go in your life.

Welcome to the Power Series. Last week we spoke about the Power of Your Mind and now we’re diving into the Power of Your Body. Your body has so much incredible wisdom and is speaking to you ALL THE TIME, whether you realize it or not. When you pay attention to this wisdom you become more in control of your life. You stop your mind from running the show and get connected to more of who you really are (more to come on that..).

This week I’m sharing a behind the scenes look at my next chapter… where I’ve been and where I’m going. It’s not always easy to share these types of reflections so I brought on my dear friend, Julia Weigert, to interview me in this process. We had a lot of fun and Julia asked a lot of great questions (that I didn’t know ahead of time!).

Tune in to this extra special episode and hear more about what I’ve learned in my own transformation process - body wisdom, stress, how the mind plays tricks on us and when it’s time to go for it (whatever IT is). My hope is that you feel supported for where you are on your journey and that you realize you are not alone.

In this week’s episode, Rimsha Warda shares her story and how she navigated an abusive relationship that ended in divorce. You’d think it’s not the happiest topic, but what is so captivating is Rimsha’s joy as she shares her healing journey. Her self discovery along the way and how it has changed the way she sees herself is incredibly uplifting. Tune in to learn more about Rimsha and how you can find your joy, even in dark times.

Rimsha is a Shamana, Medicine Woman and a healer. Born and raised in Pakistan, Rimsha moved to the US when she was 14. Her spiritual awakening (or as she likes to call wounds awakening) happened when she woke up one day, listened to the spirit that was loud and clear, and moved to Nepal as a young 17 year old. This is where her healing began. She has traveled to over 28 countries to search for herself. During this period, she got lost in the masculine world first as an aerospace engineer then as a US Marine Officer until her nervous system completely fried and she was forced to face the wounds that she first discovered as a young woman in Nepal. She deeply cares for the awakening of the collective so that we can stop going to war with each other as well as ourselves, and all remember that we are God's consciousness living a human experience. We CAN in fact live a beautiful, prosperous, heck even luxurious life even as a spiritual guide.

Have you used Human Design to learn more about yourself? How about for learning more about your children?

I’ve been on an exploration with Human Design over the past several years - using it to learn more about and experiment with my energy type and more.

What I noticed is that you can also use Human Design as a tool to support your children. To help them learn how to manage their energy based on their energy type and make decisions based on their authority. Every child is unique and the more you can tap into who they truly are, you can support them in staying true to themselves and their highest alignment.

Tune in to this week’s episode to learn more about how I’ve used Human Design to learn more about myself as well as my children, and how you can too!

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. I’m bringing back this interview with Emily Powell as a way to support our teens and their mental health as best as we can.

Remembering your life as a teen vs parenting a teen can feel VERY different. In this week’s Brief Transitions Podcast Episode we explore the troubles facing teens nowadays and how to best support them with teen and young adult Therapist, Emily Powell.

Emily gives insight into the minds of teens and their common struggles along with signs that we as caregivers can look out for, and tips to support them.

Whether you are raising a teen or a child of any age, Emily’s tips offer ways to have better communication and a stronger understanding of your child. If you are looking for ways to better guide them through their challenges, this episode is for you.

“...the conflicts with parents, how big & important everything in my life seemed at that time, little conflicts with friends and relationships took up a lot of power in my mind as a teen, and being able to relate to that feels important”

Emily Powell is a Counseling and Mental Health program graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. She started her own private practice in 2022 and loves being able to serve the community in meaningful, ethical, and intentional ways. She works with older teens and young adults, specializing in relational challenges, gender and sexuality exploration, and depression/anxiety.

My daughter turns seven this week and I’m reflecting on what I’ve learned from her (so far) in this journey called parenthood.

I’m sharing tips and observations of things that I’ve experienced while parenting a ‘spicy’ child - full of love, personality and lots of emotions.

I believe that while our children are here to live their own lives, they are also here to teach us lessons - if we’re open to seeing it that way. That’s been true in my case.

I hope my reflections and mistakes help to highlight something for you or support you for what you’re going through. Wherever you are in your journey, you are not alone.

I’m a big fan of keeping things simple while also taking time to reflect and plan. The more you set an intention and direction, the more likely you are to follow that path and reach your goal. You can even do this type of check in quarterly if you want to.

Harper Spero is on the podcast this week and she is sharing what it’s like to live with an invisible illness, specifically, a rare immunodeficiency called Hyper IgE Syndrome. Not only what her day to day life looks like living in this way, but also what it took to find a diagnosis and why she didn’t tell anyone outside of her immediate family about the illness for decades!

Harper shares many parts of her journey including: finding the right doctors to help her, a turning point in her life that made her accept her illness, and how her illness has now become integrated with her purpose.

Listen to learn more about Harper’s journey, her lessons and reflections on what it’s like to live with an invisible illness.

About Harper

During a fast-paced career in marketing, PR, and event production spanning the beauty, music, and tech industries, Harper’s life came to a halt with a life-altering surgery due to her rare immunodeficiency, Hyper IgE Syndrome. After living quietly with her invisible illness for nearly three decades, Harper’s surgery was the straw that broke her silence, leading to the creation of the Made Visible podcast, sharing her writing with the world, and business coaching and consulting. Her work has been featured in Health, Forbes, Well+Good, and more, and aims to uplift the voices of those living with invisible illnesses. Harper consults with companies and solopreneurs, creates content for brands, hosts writing classes, and gives talks on business, wellness, and beyond. Harper is on the Board of Trustees for the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), and while she’s originally from New York City, she currently lives in Tel Aviv.

In this week's episode, I’m sharing a reflection from a book that I’m currently reading called Messages from the Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss.

You’ll learn a perspective on working with habits that isn’t constricting or self-deprecating. You’ll also learn how you measure your progress in ways that feel good. Navigating the ups and downs of life can feel challenging and this episode will help you find ways to get through them that work for you.

“It's really the path of life, the path through any transition that you're going through or anything that you're navigating - it's not linear. There will be ups and downs, there will be forwards and backwards, or what seems like forwards and backwards. This is really about continuing and getting up and trying again. And I know for myself, something that I found a lot that I've worked out over these last few years, is being kinder to myself, and not beating myself up when things either don't go the way I expected.”

In today’s episode, I’m speaking with Chrissie Zavicar about navigating alcohol addiction and recovery. Chrissie shares many parts of her journey including: when she realized she was an alcoholic, what it took to get sober, how she stays sober and what she’s learned along the way.

Addiction is complicated to navigate. Chrissie shares openly and honestly about her journey in hopes to support others along their path. Whether you believe you may have an addiction or you have a loved one that is navigating it, this episode is here to share what this can look like.

Side note - we don’t only talk about alcohol addiction, Chrissie shares her perspective on addiction in general and where it shows up in our lives. She also shares resources that helped her navigate her personal transformation.

About Chrissie

Phoenix Rising founder Chrissie Zavicar is a mental health advocate focused on trauma recovery and sobriety from addiction. Sober from alcohol since June 2017, Chrissie has been committed to paying it forward by sharing her story with others who are struggling through Complex Post-Traumatic Stress (CPTSD) and addiction.

Bullied from a young age, Chrissie has historically struggled with chronic anxiety and low self esteem. Labeled a "black sheep," she eventually embraced that role by turning to addictive behaviors as a way to cope and "numb out." Despite success personally and professionally, her addictive relationship with alcohol eventually came to a head, resulting in her choice to get sober on June 18, 2017. The "lifting" of that substance brought the reality of CPTSD to the forefront, beginning a lifetime healing process.

In early sobriety, Chrissie sought out online personal development groups as a means of support, studying self worth, addiction and recovery, and the Enneagram as a way to learn more about herself. After two years, she sought out somatic therapy -- which focuses on the healing of trauma through awareness in the body -- as her next means to recovery. Combined with a regular yoga practice, avid journaling, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) work, Chrissie has made her growth journey the focal point of her day-to-day life.

Phoenix Rising was born out of her desire to pour into others with similar life experiences.

SAMHSA’s National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.

In this week's episode, I’m sharing my take on manifesting - what it really is and how to make it work for you.

This perspective will help you better understand yourself and how you navigate the creation process on various levels.

“It's not sitting around wishing, wanting, hoping and it's not forcing yourself to the extreme. It's showing up and doing the work. And being open to having other things come in to help you and guide you and support you in different ways. That’s where the magic is.”

In this week’s incredible episode I talk with Belma McCaffrey, a holistic Career Coach and Founder of Work Bigger. We talk about how to find your purpose in your career, the pitfalls a lot of people face, and techniques to get through them.

We really dive into the practical & tangible things you can do to help with your mindset while trying to figure out what you’re meant to be doing, along with physical things that can help you too.

Belma is a wealth of knowledge, and shares how her childhood and upbringing helped her be where she is today. I can’t wait for you to listen and gain so much insight & power from Belma’s words!

“I know there's a lot of job seekers out there and people who are wanting to make a transition, and the advice they’re getting is all about their resumes and cover letters and the job search strategy. But what is underneath that?

I think if we can infuse more intention and purpose, then it makes the job search, that career transition, so much more powerful. That sense of connection and fulfillment, you don’t get that from the job, you get that from the sense of purpose that you connect with.”

Do you feel things are weighing you down? Maybe it’s trying to juggle career and parenting schedules or maybe it’s thinking about summer camp and vacation plans. Whatever it is, you may always be on the go and find your schedule managing you, instead of the other way around. So, how can that be changed?

This week I share 3 ways that you can simplify your life right now. Release some of that mental (or physical!) clutter to start spring with more ease and less overwhelm.

“We tend to overcomplicate things all the time and I am in front of that line. I overcomplicate all the time. I overthink.. it's something that I'm working on. So I can say from firsthand experience, that it doesn't need to be that way. And the way that we can make that change is to focus on simplifying, when you simplify and clear things up, you get rid of that clutter in the mind or in the physical realm with the things around you and you free up space”
