One of the most universally agreed-on principles of humanity is that hindsight is 20/20. If this is true, then it must also be true that the signs were there for us to see all along. The intention of The Brokest Guy In The Room #BGIR is to build awareness of this concept. It is to highlight the idea that the resources we need to reach our goals are right within reach; we need only recognize and capitalize on them. Being the Brokest Guy In the Room isn't about being broke or broken, but rather, being surrounded by things and people that make us greater. In my life, I was able to grow from a person who would have traded lives with anyone, to one who wouldn't trade lives with anyone. #BGIR is for anyone seeking the path to transformation. It all starts with building awareness. Let's take the journey together!

The Cost of Saying No
Sometimes the words that flow
Are the hardest ones to write.
I try to let them go,
But my brain put’s up a fight.
Ironic how the things you know,
Just never seem quite right-
While the things you know are oh so wrong,
Are the only things in sight.
And when the right thing shows up at your door
And you try to turn it down,
What you learn is that the cost of no
Is so much heavier than the crown.
Saying yes to all your hopes and dreams
Is so much more than what it seems
Because pursuing happiness
Is to discover what life means.
It’s never over till over
But it’s all part of the dream;
Because over is what closure does,
And it is never what it seems.
I made the choice to rise,
Because there is no compromise
Between the choice of living life
Or spending life pursuing lies.
Possessing everything you want
Brings the ultimate surprise;
That it’s only once you’ve lost it all
That you truly feel alive.

Dare To Dream
I used to think my all my dreams we’re truly meant for me,
I used to dream of things that would one day come to be.
I started to dream things that I thought beyond my reach,
And as result I started reaching things I never thought that I could reach.
Looking back in disbelief on what I’ never thought I’d do,
I see a journey toward impossible, and the impossible way through.
I learned that nothing is beyond your reach, because your reach is but a choice.
I learned that life is a gift granted, for us to look back and rejoice.
A chance for some to celebrate all that they thought they’d never do,
A chance for some to concentrate the fruit of dreams come true.
I chose to be amongst the latter; all I wanted was to rise.
Now speaking out amongst the risen, I truly feel alive.
I was born to be a coward, but I just couldn’t live that way,
I saw the rhythm of the masses and chose to go a different way.
I will be greater than expected, and I expected to be great,
I will be the best that I can be; I will define my fate.
Life can go down many roads, but we have will for which we choose,
We can take risks to seek out gains; we can accept the things we loose,
We can refuse to accept failure, we can turn every pain to gain,
We can choose to mourn the weather, or we can celebrate the rain.
I am in love with pain.

In this week's episode, Chris discusses how concentration in breathwork changed his yoga practice and his all-around mind and body health.

Pain can be a beautiful thing if you let it be. At times life can hand us circumstances that are so painful that they can seem like divine punishment. In this week's episode, Chris discusses one of the most painful circumstances that he's encountered and his journey through it toward the growth that it offered. For some people, the fear of pain and discomfort can be the thing great inhibitor that prevents them from ever realizing their fullest potential. For others, pain can be something they embrace in the pursuit of growth. It could thus be said that a person's relationship with and perspective of pain could indicate the direction and heights that the individual will achieve in this life. Notable then, is that one's perspective can be a choice once one realizes that the choice is there. When pain presents itself there is always an opportunity to learn from it and grow. Our reaction to it is ultimately the determining factor in what revelations will follow.

Many of us try to give to the world without giving anything back to ourselves. For people who intend on living fulfilling life, it can often become difficult to fill yourself first. Staying motivated and passionate requires certain practices. In this week's episode Chris explores his own journey in learning to give to himself. It was a critical step in going from someone who would have eagerly traded lives with anyone on the planet, to a person who would be unwilling to trade lives with anyone on the planet.
For some people like myself, the idea of personal growth exists on the other end of an uncomfortable road. If you keep your focus on growth for long enough, the experience of the uncomfortable road can start to get a lot more comfortable. If you keep at it long enough, your ability to withstand this discomfort becomes effortless. In this week's episode, I explore the relationship between growth, comfort, effort, and desire. Sometimes it seems the harder we work at something, the more focus we place on the work, and, as a result, the less focus we place on our intention. This is why growth must not be a person's single focus. If it is, the person risks growing in all the wrong directions.
There's no feeling like the one you get coming home. Returning home as a different man can be a whole different story. Join Chris on this week's episode as he reflects on his month-long transformation in Bali; his experience there, the transformation he underwent, and what it feels like returning to his home and family as a brand new man. When seeking transformation, it's worth noting that the experience of the new you will be drastically different than the experience of the old you. This is as true for the ones you love as it is for you.
In this special episode produced in Bali, Chris discusses the concept of finding your power. All of us struggle with power. Some feel they've never had it. Some feel they've had it and wasted it. Some feel that they've lost it forever. In all of these scenarios, the same truth remains; it's time to find the power. You always will find what you're looking for. Follow the fuse if you wish to find the source of the power. #BGIR #IthaChris1
This episode was recorded in Bali, Indonesia. In it, Chris explores the notion of bullying as a metaphor for all challenges that plague us in life. From his own experiences with physical bullying in early childhood to the bully inside us all, he explores how we can best our bullies, both foreign and domestic. If what doesn’t kill really does make you stronger; then having a bully can be a real blessing in disguise. Perhaps the best way to best our bully is to embrace it as a blessing. At that point, we truly can be free from it. #BGIR #Ithachris1
Co-hosted by Ravi Walsh of Heartpath Healing and Coaching. In this episode, we explore the idea that perspective is often the only difference between a burden and a blessing. In life and practice, I've personally come to adopt the notion that all good things are born of discomfort. In recognition of this, it becomes paramount to recognize that the experiences we immediately perceive as burdensome are often, if not always, a blessing in disguise. Building awareness toward that inevitable discovery teaches one to be grateful for the experiences that seem traumatic or unpleasant in recognition of the revelations that they led to. Join Ravi and I as we explore this philosophy. #BGIR #IthaChris1

Ravi led me down a path of transformation that enabled me to be more conscious of my intentions and more successful than I could have ever dreamed. This episode is Co-hosted by Ravi Walsh of Heartpath Healing. Together we ponder whether it is possible to love others before loving yourself. The first time that I encountered this question I was offended by it. It was introduced by my best friend in the world; a man who I told I loved at every parting. One day, in the face of my own anxiety and depression he observed that I didn't love myself. From this, he responded to my declaration of love for him that I couldn't possibly love him because I didn't love myself. This sent me spiraling in a wonderful way. He was right that I didn't love myself. I'd take it a step further and say that I about hated myself. While the sting of that statement was enormous, it sent me down the path to finally discovering self-love. Ravi was a person who directly guided me down the path of self-love. He's a man of exceptional insight and was a critical guide in my quest for self-love. Everyone either struggles with this or is impacted by it, so join us on the "Heartpath" to Discovery. #BGIR #IthaChris1
