(Yale Rep, Pittsburgh City Theatre, Studio Theatre; book/lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman), ANYTOWN (George Street Playhouse; book by Jim Jack), HARMONY, KANSAS (Diversionary Theatre; book/lyrics by Bill Nelson), ECHO (Musical Theatre Factory), and STELLA AND THE MOON MAN (Sydney Theatre Company/Theatre of Image; with Richard Tulloch & Adrian Kelly). Nicolette Blount (she/her) is a member of the Chickasaw tribe, a playwright, producer, and performer who is currently a fellow for the Dramatist Guild Foundation’s National Musical Theatre Fellowship. She is the co-writer, composer and lyricist for Savage: The Unconquerable Wanda Savage. Savage is currently a semifinalist for NMTC O’Neil 2024. Savage received Honorable Mention in the 2022 American Playwriting Foundation's Relentless Award. Nicolette produced an EP and singles for Savage (Savage the Musical Original Cast) that have garnered 43K streams. Through her LLC, Take My Shot Productions, Nicolette co-produced Off Broadway's A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet and is currently co-producing In Pieces (in development). Mayah “My” Lourdes Burke (she/her) is a director, producer, vocalist, playwright, poet, and actor from NYC. Kelley Nicole Girod (she/her) is a playwright and producer, as well as Director of New Work at the world-famous theater The Apollo. In addition, Kelley continues to serve as Executive Director of OBIE award-winning The Fire This Time Festival, a platform for early-career Black playwrights, which she founded in 2009. Kelley is also an award-winning playwright (Parity Productions Commission, Sundance IDP Grant Recipient, Atlantic Launch New Play Commission, Sheen Center Fellow, Stein and Liberace Fellow, John Golden Fellow ) whose work has been developed/presented at Atlantic Theater Company, Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, The Fire This Time Festival, Harlem 9, Primary Stages, Project Y, Poetic Theater Productions, Classical Theater of Harlem, Frigid NYC, Planet Connections Theater Festival, The Field, Dixon Place, and Stanford University’s TAPS Program. She was recently named the recipient of 2023 New York Innovative Theater’s prestigious Ellen Steward Award. She was also a 2020 nominee of the prestigious Paul Robeson Award. Kelley has served as a guest lecturer at Yale School for Drama, Stanford University’s Theater Department, and Cal State-Fullerton. Kelley has also held the positions of Programming Associate at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture and Producing Director at The Billie Holiday Theater. In addition, Kelley is editor of The Fire This Time Festival’s first anthology of plays, published with Bloomsbury UK/Methuen Drama and titled 25 Plays from The Fire This Time Festival, A Decade of Recognition, Resistance, Rebirth and Black Theater. Kelley is a 2008 graduate of Columbia’s MFA Playwriting program.

Stephanie Leah Evans, a.k.a. "SLE" (she/her) is a Score Coordinator/Music Assistant specializing in Piano/Vocal score upkeep and formatting, copy-editing, transcription, and team organization. Her versatility with numerous music programs, from Finale to Sibelius and from Logic Pro X to ProTools, readies her to assist and liaise for any Music Team! Previous credits include stage productions Sweeney Todd 2023 Revival (Broadway), Kiss My Aztec (Hartford Stage), The Visitor (The Public Theater), Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (The New Group), and The Wrong Man (MCC Theater). Stephanie also serves as an assistant to Alex Lacamoire, for whom she did Music Preparation and Score Coordination on the films In the Heights, VIVO, and Tick, Tick…Boom! Additionally, Stephanie is a singer with an extensive background in opera, musical theater, choir, and a cappella. Throughout her education, she played roles such as Susanna in Le Nozze Di Figaro, Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, Hope Cladwell in Urinetown, and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. All the while, she performed choral pieces from Bach to Esenvalds, recorded albums of Jewish music, and studied the psychological implications of chromatic harmony in film scores. Julia Riew (she/her) is a Korean-American composer, lyricist, librettist, and writer from St. Louis and currently based in New York City. She is primarily known for her musical Dive (previously known as Shimcheong: A Folktale), which amassed over 100k followers online and over 16 million streams on an animated music video of its titular song in Korea. Julia graduated from Harvard University in May 2022 and is First-Year in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. In her first year out of college, she has been named the 2022 Fred Ebb Award winner, Playbill’s Featured Songwriter of the Month, A Woman to Watch on Broadway, and the recipient of the 2022 Harvardwood Artist Launch Fellowship under the mentorship of composer Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde, Heathers). Madeline Myers (she/her) is a composer and lyricist for musical theater in New York City. Named to the 2022 Broadway Women’s Fund “Women to Watch on Broadway” list, Madeline is a 2023 & 2022 Kleban Prize finalist for lyric writing, a winner of the 2021 Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award presented by New York Stage & Film and the Ziegfeld Club; a 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017 Jonathan Larson Grant finalist; a 2019 York Theatre Company NEO Writer; a 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017 ASCAP Plus Award recipient; and a 2016-2017 Dramatists Guild Fellow. 



Madeline’s musicals have been developed at Bay Street Theatre, the York Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals (2023 Festival of New Musicals, the Johnny Mercer Writers Grove), the New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio, the Fingerlakes Musical Theater Festival, Musical Theater Factory, the NMI Disney Imagineering New Voices Project, the New York Theatre Barn, and the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project.



When not writing musicals, Madeline enjoys reading, walking in Central Park, and volunteering. She is an active volunteer with Central Synagogue’s unhoused breakfast program and the founder of a 2020 voter registration/Census count initiative for the New York unhoused community. Through the pandemic, Madeline has worked with NYC Test & Trace Corps to bring mobile vaccine buses and PPE to unhoused New Yorkers. In 2018, Madeline created the Blair School of Music Student Citizen Award given to a female student demonstrating excellence in personal character and contributions to the community. Madeline sits on the Alumni Board of the Vanderbilt University Ingram Scholarship Program, of which she is a proud alumna. She is an original member of the music department of the Broadway production of Hamilton.

Brisa Areli Muñoz (she/her) is the Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory, an organization that develops changemaking new musicals in a joyous, collaborative community free from commercial pressures. Brisa was an inaugural Artistic Director of New York City’s first-ever All Inclusive All-City Theater Ensemble, a NYC Department of Education citywide theater company that creates original musicals with teens of all abilities. Brisa has also served as Manager of Community Partnerships for The Public Theater’s Public Works program, a major initiative that invites community members to take classes, attend performances, and join in the creation of ambitious works of participatory theater. Guest BioThalia Ranjbar (she/her) is a Persian-Salvadoran-Canadian multidisciplinary artist presently based in New York City. With her focus being in theatre and film, Thalia is a screenwriter, librettist, director, and choreographer with a passion for elevating and developing stories that include voices of queer and BIPOC communities. She is a recent graduate of New York University where she earned the distinction of Master of Fine Art from the "Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.” Immediately after, Thalia was 1 of 12 international participants selected for the “Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project,” where she received mentorship from Crag Carnelia, Andrew Lippa, Lindy Robbins, and Autumn Rowe. Thalia’s theatrical writing has been developed and presented by Feinstein’s 54 Below, Rattlestick Playwright’s Theatre, Lincoln Centre, and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Guest BioMegan McCormick (she/they) is a composer, lyricist, singer, educator, and circus artist based out of Brooklyn, New York. As an educator, Megan holds the position of Assistant Director for the New York Youth Symphony’s Musical Theater Songwriting program, Assistant Director for Tufts University’s Creative Arts educational program, Teaching Artist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, and staff for Trapeze School New York. Megan delights in performing and writing in many different genres with recent performing highlights including as a back up singer with Brooklyn-based rock band Geese on tour with Jack White, and the premiere of her original song and aerial straps act “Careful Lorelei” at the New England Center for Circus Arts. Recently, Megan has joined the Musical Theatre Writers Collective, where she is working on a full length musical about England’s first queens.

During her time completing her BFA, she became a contributing writer and published author for PopSugar Latina, has performed in multiple college productions, along with other works including performing with the Broadway cast of Chicago for Broadway Cares, appearing in CBS’s “The Code” and Nickelodeon’s “Club 57”, and recently performing at Jacob's Pillow as part of their first ever Afro-Latin Immersion Program. See full episode notes hereGuest BiosElyssa Samsel (she/her) is a composer, violinist, pianist, and one half of the Songwriting team known as Samsel/Anderson, alongside Kate Anderson. They penned songs for Disney Animation’s Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and the hit Apple TV+ series Central Park. Elyssa and Kate met in the acclaimed BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Writing workshop in 2010 and have been writing partners ever since. Their musical BETWEEN THE LINES debuted off Broadway in July 2022 and their musical adaptation of THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak premiered in the UK September 2022.

Kate Anderson (she/her) is a songwriter, improv comedian, sketch comedy writer, singer, and voice over actress. She has studied at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York, and performs regularly with her improv team Duran Duran Duran. Kate’s voice can be heard as the “Norwegian Cookie Lady” and “Cat Lady” in Disney’s “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure”. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Kate graduated cum laude with a degree in Music and Creative Writing from Gettysburg College, where she studied classical voice on scholarship at the Sunderman Conservatory. Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson are the songwriting duo behind Apple TV’s Central Park, Disney Animation’s “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” (Annie nomation), the off-Broadway Musical, “Between the Lines” , and “The Book Thief” which opened to rave reviews in the UK in 2022.

Isabella Dawis (she/her) is a Filipina-American playwright and performer. As a librettist and lyricist, she is the recipient of the 2022 Kleban Prize in Musical Theatre, the 2021 Fred Ebb Award, and the 2020 Weston-Ghostlight New Musical Award. She currently holds a Composers and the Voice Fellowship with the American Opera Project. Guest Bio Emily Kristen Morris (she/her) is an NYC-based actor, singer, dancer, certified vocal instructor, and popular online content creator with more than 1.5 million followers on TikTok. Emily has performed across the nation and internationally, and she is currently the Elphaba standby on the Broadway national tour of Wicked. Her past theatre credits include: Bea in the national tour of Something Rotten, White Plains Performing Arts Center (Daisy in Side Show), The Rev (Sophie in Mamma Mia), Cape Playhouse, the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (Nellie in South Pacific in concert), Gateway Playhouse, Weston Playhouse, and New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Emily has performed as a solo vocalist with symphony orchestras, including the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in China and the Norwalk Symphony. Her voice is also featured on Joey Contreras’ new album “In Pieces.” On TikTok, Emily is popular for her voice teaching videos, singing covers, and vocal coach reacts videos. When she's not performing, Emily runs her highly sought-after voice studio, EKM Vocal Studio, where she teaches lessons, masterclasses, and workshops to passionate singers both virtually and in-person in NYC. Emily is certified through the Institute For Vocal Advancement (IVA) and received her BFA in musical theatre from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

Guest Bio

Lynne Shankel - composer, orchestrator, lyricist, and music supervisor - was the first woman to solely orchestrate a new musical on Broadway, Allegiance. She was music director and arranger for the Broadway production of Crybaby and resident music supervisor for the Tony Award-winning revival of Company, for which she conducted the Grammy-nominated cast album.

Other credits as orchestrator and arranger: Altar Boyz, The Extraordinary Ordinary, Annie Live on NBC, Chasing the Song, Life After, Snow Child, Breathe, and many others. Lynne was also music director for the acclaimed 2019 Kennedy Center production of Tommy. As a composer, Lynne's works include Bare the Musical, Red Velvet, HoT, and Perpetual Sunshine and the Ghost Girls.

Lynne is also the composer and lyricist of Postcard American Town. Lynne received the 2021 ASCAP Lucille and Jack Yellen Award. Her album, Bare Naked, is out on Yellow Sound Label. Lynne also teaches musical theater composition at the University of Michigan.
