Award-Winning Author Amanda M. Thrasher was born in England, moved to Texas and resides there still. She's the author of children's books including picture books, middle-grade chapter books, and young adult pieces. She also wrote a graphic novel for the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center, Driving on the Right Side of the Road program (DRSR), titled What If . . . A Story of Shattered Lives, which was adapted into a reader's theater.
Amanda is a speaker, conducts workshops, writes a blog, and contributes to an online magazine. She's an International Readers' Favorite Book award winner for YA and social issues, a multiple Gold Recipient of The Mom's Choice Awards® for YA and general fiction, and early reader chapter books. She also won a New Apple Literary Award for YA and general fiction, and an NTBF award for YA and general fiction.
As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Progressive Rising Phoenix Press, she assists other authors with their work and shares her writing process and publishing experience with them. Amanda has just completed a novel, CAPTAIN FIN, which is based on a screenplay by director and producer Kevin James O'Neill.
Born and raised on a farm in Northwestern Illinois, Jannifer Powelson's interest in writing, conservation, and the natural world was sparked at an early age. Books in the Nature Station Mystery Series encompass her passions of writing, photography, nature, and reading mysteries.
Powelson is also the author of four books in the Rachel Raccoon and Sammy Skunk series.
Powelson works as a conservationist and resides in northwestern Illinois with her husband and two daughters. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Progressive Rising Phoenix Press. Ms. Powelson is currently working on the sixth book in the Nature Station Mystery Series.

First up, alphabetically speaking, is Charles B. Carson. He lives with his wife, Pat, in the small farm community of White Mills, KY. He is a member of The Bards Writing Group and has a BS from Urbana University. Besides writing he enjoys woodworking, gardening, painting, and photography, and a musician. He is the author of a children's book Inn's Side.
Second is Karen Lynn, a native New Yorker, she has always loved writing poetry and short stories with intense characters struggling to find love and survive in a troubled world. After years of working in the legal field, Karen moved with her son to Oregon. Inspired by the rain and Portland's creative culture, Karen has been able to follow her dream of writing novels. Hearts in torment is her debut series in this dark romantic suspense series of the same name. She is the author of Turn to Dust, Sea of Smoke, War of Hearts.
Lisa Colodny's non fiction publishing history includes approximately 34 publications in the health and science industry and 5 book contributions, also medical. Fiction publishing history includes a short story publication, My Name is Edith for the Broward College newspaper and an X-files story, H2O, that appeared in a magazine entitled to the Fullest X tent in 1997. She is the author of novels Journeys, Wavering Moon, Crossroads and more.
On Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 4pm Eastern time host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes three outstanding writers to Red River Radio Tales from the Pages. The first is Heather Haven, multi award winning author who has written: The Alvarez Family Mysteries, The Persephone Cole Vintage Mysteries and Murder Under the Big Top. She is here to share her latest book: The Christmas Trifle, which is a Snowlake Romantic Suspense novel. Heather and I met nine years ago at a function with our mutual publisher at the time, MuseItUp Publishing. My next guest is Kay Kendall, also an award winning author. Kay was supposed to be here for an earlier show but she couldn't make it. So happy to have her here today. She has written two historical mysteries: Desolation Row and Rainy Day Women in the Austin Star series. Her latest book is After You've Gone, which starts out with the song lyrics of "After You've Gone". And because he also had to reschedule I am delighted to welcome Scott Thomas Outlar, who is a multi published poet. He has published many books including: Songs of A Dissident, Chaos Songs, Happy Hour Hallelujah, Poison in Paradise, Abstract Visions of Light. He also has a new book called Of Sand and Sugar. In addition his poetry is published in many international magazines and journals.

Darrell Bartell is a U.S. Army veteran with an MA in Theater from Texas Women’s University and MA in English with a minor in Communications from Southern New Hampshire University. Jeanne Felfe has had more than 30 award winning short stories, essays, and poems published in a variety of anthologies – including the Heart of a Child Anthology and Frightful Tales for All Hallows Eve. She serves as President on the board of her writer's guild, Saturday Writers. She is also the author of Bridge to Us: A Love Lost and Found novel.
Lindsay Downs is another Texan, who loves to write. Lindsay's favorites are regency and murder mysteries. Since 2012 he's lived in central Texas and is a member of Romance Writers of America. Lindsay is the author of The Duke's Bride, Love at First Sight and the Guilty Countess, to name only a few.

Before long, it was haunting her dreams and occupying her thoughts all throughout her career as an educator. After many years as a school psychologist and writing non-fiction, she has turned her attention to the fiction stories that first enticed her into the world of writing. Skyler says she was 'born to be a writer,' which she describes as more of neurosis than a career. I love giving people mental vacations to escape their everyday realities and help them dive into a good read.

AJ Carter began his voice acting career mid-high school. We did a faux radio project in which I had to recite a speech by FDR. Afterward, people started commenting how much I aced it and I had a “Face for radio.” It was uphill from there. My fascination with doing voices started at a young age. I would sit in front of the tv for hours and just copy the voices I heard, mostly on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, days of our lives, it was a mixed bag. I grew up in a house full of athletes and sports stars. I was the odd man out because I wanted to do nothing but do impressions and write. I’m the actor amongst the athletes.
RPM is a new graphic novel inspired by mediums such as Firefly, Farscape and came out of his love of dark matter and sci-fi.

As an actress, Mara’s regular role on the TV soap opera Days Of Our Lives opened the door for her to create her own soap. Mara was awarded the 2003 Peak Award for performing her one-woman play (co-written with Sydney Swire) Mary Shelley – In Her Own Words. She has co-starred in six productions of Sea Marks by Gardner McKay, and stars as Julia in Becoming Julia Morgan. Having been part of the all-star cast of Milford-Haven USA, she is now a noted audio book performer. Mara is a frequent speaker at writing and author conferences, works privately as an authoring coach, and serves on the boards and advisory boards of several professional organizations.

Viv is a Michigan native who has enjoyed reading and writing since 1963. Though she studied medicinal chemistry at the University of Michigan her passion has always been writing.
She was awarded third place for her nonfiction short story about her grandfather's escape from Poland. Later, she rewrote this story and was published in the "Polish American Journal" as ""From the Pages of Grandfather's Life" and recently had it published again on Amazon.com
Viv took creative and journalism courses to help in her transition to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer. She worked as an intern for Port Huron's 'The Times Herald", and also wrote, edited and did the layout or the Blue Water Multiple Sclerosis newsletter "Thumb Prints."
She has started Owl and cat Book Promotions to help her fellow authors by providing affordable services.
On Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 4pm EDT Host Barbara Ehrentreu of Red River Radio Tales from the Pages welcomes author Rosemary Poole-Carter and Scott Thomas Outlar to the show. Ms. Poole's new novel, Only Charlotte, captures the flavor and tensions of the ante-bellum period in New Orleans. Her other novels are also based in the south during this time period. Also on the show is the multi-published and talented poet, Scott Thomas Outlar. He will be talking about his new book and also he will be reading some of the poems from the book. In addition there may be a surprise guest, Amy Leigh McCorkle, whose feature narrative film, Letters to Daniel, is set to preview very soon. Amy also has a TV series that will be going into production soon. There are sure to be some surprises since that seems to be the norm for the show lately. Uvi Poznansky is a USA TODAY bestselling, award-winning author, poet and artist. "I paint with my pen," she says, "and write with my paintbrush." Her romantic suspense box set, Love Under Fire, made the USA TODAY bestselling list, as did her medical thriller box set, Do No Harm; and her romance box set, A Touch of Passion, was the 2016 WINNER of The Romance Reviews Readers' Choice Awards.
She worked first as an architect, and later as a software engineer, software team leader, software manager and a software consultant (with an emphasis on user interface for medical instruments devices.) She was the Queen of France, Queen of England, a leader in the disastrous Second Crusade, and inventor of the courts of love. Her progeny occupied every throne of Europe, making her grandmother of Europe. Mark publishes ‘The Legacy’ this year, completing the series. Author of The Eleanor Code Series about Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Chasing Entertainment will cover all forms of entertainment. Marta will chat with those who create that which entertains us. Over the coming years, she will talk with both those who work behind the scenes and in front of the camera or microphone.
Thrown into the world of publishing ten years ago, she found that trying to promote her work was the hardest part of being an author. Since then, she's branched out, lost her inhibitions and faced the publishing world head-on. Not only does she work with Owl & cat Promotions, but she also has two Blog Talk Radio shows each month, where she chats with other authors.
Dellani has said she has enough books to keep her readers busy for the next 10 years. In fact, it's probably more. With 120 finished novels, (14 of which are published) she also has 62 more currently being worked on – which she finishes first will depend entirely upon what characters yell the loudest.
Dellani is a former AP English teacher, photo-journalist.
Karen started her literary journey in 2005 when she was home on sick leave and was tired of staring at the four walls or twiddling her thumbs. An idea for what would become DEAD ON ARRIVAL popped into her head and the feisty 30 something character Laura wouldn't leave her alone til her story was written. Laura took a break from pestering the poor author, so she could write a free-standing novel DEAD COMIC STANDING. Soon Laura was on the campaign to get Karen back to what would become the Laura and Gerry series. It now has 7 books, the latest being DEAD TO WRITES. While not w writing her fingers to the bone she hosts WRITERS ROUND TABLE the second Tuesday of each month. She is also a partner with Viv Drewa in OWL & CAT PROMOTIONS, promoting independent authors. Karen is a standup comedian who does her routine for local talent nights and loves reading, crafts, and drawing.
It's September and kids are back to schoo! Today I have the pleasure of welcoming back fellow author and good friend Marta Moran Bishop to the show. Marta is been pretty busy in the literary world and wants to talk about her new projects.
Marta Moran Bishop is the product of three generations of women writers. Their legacy to her was an inquisitive mind and a joy of writing and reading. She reads to children and adults alike taking her books from children's classes to senior centers.
Her first book, Wee Three: A Mothers Love In Verse, a children's poetry book, illustrated by Hazel Mitchell, was a collaborative effort and a labor of love. She took the short, sweet verses her grandmother wrote in the nineteen thirty's for her children and expanded those and added additional verses of her own.
Ms. Bishop, is a prolific and versatile writer, she currently has two children's poetry books, Dinky: The Nurse Mare's Foal, which is based on the true story of her rescue foal and written from his point of view and is enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
Her novel The Between Times, tells the story of a bleak world, where society consists of the poor and the rich and the poor live in squalor, with only a prophecy for hope of a better future. It has a touch of paranormal in its pages.
She has written three adult poetry books and a variety of fantasy and paranormal stories. A few of them are stories that her mother wrote over forty years ago and she finished while others are new and vibrant stories.
She states "I learned that one needed to have a plot and conversation to move the story forward from a particularly bad play I wrote at the age of six. It was the worst play ever written or performed. It was so awful my mother stopped the production after about three minutes."
We're so pleased to welcome back Margaret Skea, an author of fascinating, historical fiction. Growing up in Ulster during the height of the “Troubles”, it was inevitable that she write stories about living within conflict and the problems and pressures that diverse loyalties place on families, on relationships, and on personal integrity. Her books include Katharina – Fortitude, Katharina – Deliverance, and Turn of the Tide. We're delighted to have you join us today!

Klein who is the Director of the Jewish Studies Program, Director of the Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genetic Studies Program -- there are only three in the country -- and Professor of History at Kean University in Union, N.J. Mr. Klein and I met in a very unusual way and I look forward to speaking with him on the show. He is the author of Survivor Transitional Narratives of Nazi-Era Destruction: The Second Liberation and the author and editor of these books:Jewish Origins of the Psychoanalytic Movement ,Hidden History of the Kovno Ghetto, The Genocidal Mind , Societies Emerging from Conflict: The Aftermath of Atrocity. He is also the author of:Memory, Narrative, and Forgiveness and Jean Améry and the Philosophy of Torture . In addition he is the founding director of the Anti-Defamation League's Braun Center for Holocaust Studies and the founding editor of Dimensions:A Journal of Holocaust Studies. He received the Fulbright-Hays Fellowship and many other awards.

Ken Farmer didn’t write his first full novel until he was sixty-nine years of age. He often wonders what the hell took him so long. At age seventy-seven…he’s currently working on book number twenty-five. He has won several national awards for his novels. He is the author of the Nations Series, Bone and Lorraine Series, The Black Eagle Force Series and many more.
Mari Collier was born on a farm in Iowa. Since then she's lived in Arizona, Northwest Washington, and moved to Southern California after retiring from Nintendo of America. She is the curator for the Accessions Committee at the local Historical Society and volunteers as a docent at the Old Schoolhouse Museum. Mari is the author of Chronicles of the Maca Series, Star Lady Tales Series, and The Chronicles of Tonath Series.
Philip Rivera recently arrived on the self-publishing scene wearing cargo shorts, a polo shirt, deck shoes and with his youngest child strapped to his body. As an author, he proves that minivans, child-rearing, husbandly duties and teaching high school are all lethal weapons when placed in his whimsical mind. His first book, Suburban Luchador: Memoirs From Suburbia, was written entirely on a riding lawnmower.
On Thursday, July 25, 2019, host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes renowned and esteemed poet and politician, Demetrios Trifiatis, to Red River Radio Tales from the Pages. Mr. Trifiatis has written several books of poetry and has lived and worked in several countries. His accomplisments are too numerous to list here, but he is the author of three books of poetry, he has taught in many countries, he has a graduate degree in Philosophy and he has participated in many humanitarian events. Recently, he was a candidate for office for the European Parliament. His beautiful photos of flowers and other parts of nature grace the private messages of many on Facebook who have him as a friend. Recently, he has started to add poetry to these photos and it enhances them so much more.
This is a show you will not want to miss. Mr. Trifiatis will be my only guest, and I am looking forward to speaking with him.
On Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 4pm EDT host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes Tracy Richardson to Red River Radio Tales from the Pages. I first heard of Tracy through her publicist, Pj Nunn, who has become a friend of the show and has been introducing me to authors for years. Tracy writes young adult fiction, which is a favorite to read. Her latest book is called, The Field which is about a boy who sees fire and then learns he is part of two very strong energy fields that are affecting his life. it is rated paranormal but it is not your usual paranormal story. I started reading it and was fascinated by the idea. Tracy is also the author of another book, Indian Summer, whcih will be coming out in 2020.
Also scheduled to be on the show is Geoffrey D. Calhoun, who is a screenwriter and the author of The Guide for Every Screenwriter.He is the founder of wefixyourscript.com.
This is the 100th show for Red River Radio Tales from the Pages. We've got a great show planned for today. Joining us today are two familiar folks, and one new one.
First up is a fellow Tirgearr Author, Maya Tyler is a multi-published author of paranormal romance novels and blogger at Maya’s Musings. An avid reader, Maya writes the books she loves to read—romances! She still believes that “True Love's Kiss” is the most powerful thing in the world. Her paranormal romances come with complex plot twists and happily-ever-afters. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, listening to music (alternative rock, especially from the 1990s), practicing yoga, and watching movies and TV.
Second is the happiest horror author I know. Rami Ungar knew he wanted to be a writer from the age of five, when he first became exposed to the world of Harry Potter and wanted to create imaginative worlds like Harry’s. As a tween, he fell in love with the works of Anne Rice and Stephen King and, as he was getting too old to sneak up on people and shout “Boo!’ (not that that ever stopped him), he decided to merge his two loves and become a horror writer. Today, Rami lives and writes in Columbus, Ohio. Rose, his first novel with Castrum Press, will be released June 21st, 2019. When he’s not writing your nightmares or coming up with those, he’s enjoying anything from the latest horror novel or movie to anime and manga to ballet, collecting anything that catches his fancy, and giving you the impression he may not be entirely human.
Third, and new to the show, is another Tirgearr Author. Julia Byrd lives and writes in Chicago with her handsome dog and scruffy husband. She tells people she enjoys books, wine, baking, and architecture as plausible cover for her secret double life. Her second Gothic romance, Soil and Ceremony, was published by Tirgearr Publishing in June 2019.
For June it's all about the ladies. Rosemary Poole-Carter and Dania Voss both write about women in all of their glory. That's where the similarities end. In Dania Voss's, Hannah's Bliss, we meet a young contemporary woman who is trying to get out from beneath her mother's thumb. In Everything Charlotte, by Rosemary Poole-Carter, we are transported to early New Orleans, and a hot bed of mystery, murder and dark secrets.
Born in Rome, Italy and settled in the Chicagoland area, Dania Voss became a romance junkie in her teens. After decades of voracious reading, she published her first romance novel On the Ropes, the prequel in her Windy City Nights series in March 2018. It was nominated as best Contemporary Romance in the 2018 Evernight Publishing Reader's Choice Awards
Rosemary Poole-Carter is a novelist and playwright whose work focuses on the history, mystery and eccentricity of the American South. Her plays have been produced in the United States and Europe. Rosemary is a member of the Historical Novel Society and Mystery Writers of America.

Anabelle will be talking about her new film " The Weight of Perfection" which is about a gymnast who comes to terms with her feelings about her body and brings up the idea of eating disorders and bullying. She will be with several of the cast and crew of this production including the director. So you will want to tune in to hear this discussion and learn more about this upcoming film that is now gathering funds for production.

M. J. Markovski was born in Detroit, Michigan to Macedonian immigrant parents. She grew up very sheltered, then moved to Arizona for college. She fell in love with the sun and ended up staying in Tucson. The novel, Whatever It Takes, came to her not only from a dream, but also when her husband at the time not only left her, but her family also. Her journey to writing seriously began 2009/2010 when she became disabled from a major attack from multiple sclerosis. M.J. views it as God's way for her to have more time for writing.

Marta Moran Bishop is the product of three generations of women writers. Their legacy to her was an inquisitive mind and a joy of writing and reading. She reads to children and adults alike taking her books from children's classes to senior centers. Her first book, Wee Three: A Mothers Love In Verse, a children's poetry book, illustrated by Hazel Mitchell, was a collaborative effort and a labor of love. She took the short, sweet verses her grandmother wrote in the nineteen thirty's for her children and expanded those and added additional verses of her own.

Shirley Drew is a Professor of Communication at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. She has been teaching and living in the Sunflower State since 1989. She completed her Ph.D. at Bowling Green State University in 1985 in Interpersonal and Public Communication. Before moving to Kansas, she worked for three years as an internal management trainer and consultant for a 650-bed hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Her teaching areas include interpersonal, group, organizational communication, and qualitative research methods. Her research is primarily qualitative (ethnographic) and includes ritual, group culture, and occupational culture. Her book entitled Dirty Work: The Social Construction of Taint was published in August of 2007.

She grew from reading Nancy Drew and Francine Pascal to reading Brandon Massey, Michael Romkey, and Tananarive Due. It was after watching A Nightmare on Elm Street that inspired her into writing her own stories. In addition to her love of writing, she is the founder of 1287 Pictures, a production company that will produce horror and thriller films. Ingrid currently resides in Northern California, and is looking forward to thrilling, and scaring you with more to come…
Second is Keelan LaForge, author of the His Mighty Hand Trilogy. Keelan LaForge is a writer from Northern Ireland. Her trilogy explores the truths of living with mental illness and domestic abuse. Keelan writes for Terror House Magazine and Café Lit. She also used to write for Vintage Life magazine. She is a drummer and loves anything vintage. She is a single mum of two and writes almost as often as she drinks coffee.

Elaine L. Orr writes three mystery series. The Jolie Gentil cozy mystery series, set at the Jersey shore, has eleven books. The River's Edge series, set in rural Iowa, includes three books, and the Logland series (a police procedural with a cozy feel) has two with one the way. Two of her books have been finalists for the Chanticleer Mystery and Mayhem Awards. Elaine also writes plays and novellas. "Falling into Place" tells of a family's strength as a World War II veteran rises to the toughest occasion. Nonfiction includes "Writing When Time is Scarce." A member of Sisters in Crime, Elaine grew up in Maryland and moved to the Midwest in 1994.
Susan, a "slightly twisted" author, professional book editor, writing mentor and teacher, was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and began writing at the age of 10. In 2003 she picked up and drove across the country to California's Central Coast.
Susan now lives on California's Central Coast with her very whiney imaginary cat and her (mostly unfinished) handmade quilts and her (mostly finished) hand knitted scarves.
Both of these ladies write mystery, but in very different styles. Drop by and get to know them. I know I'm looking forward to my chat.

Addison Brae lives in Dallas, Texas on the edge of downtown. As a child, she was constantly in trouble for hiding under the bed to read when she was supposed to be napping. She has been writing since childhood starting with diaries, letters and short stories. She continues today with articles, video scripts and other content as an independent marketing consultant.
When she’s not writing, Addison spends her time traveling the world, collecting interesting cocktail recipes and hosting parties. She’s still addicted to reading and enjoys jogging in her neighborhood park, sipping red wine, binge-watching TV series, vintage clothing and hanging out with her artistic other half and their neurotic cat Lucy.

John spent nearly ten years in law enforcement in Southern California as a street cop, a training officer and a member of the elite SWAT team. After leaving the force, he continued in public service entering the field of education. During his tenure, he served as classroom teacher, school administrator and district administrator. While in both worlds he earned a Doctorate in School Administration and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Through all those years, he never gave up his passion for writing - both fiction and nonfiction. He has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers and the like for decades on a variety of topics.
Kay is a reformed PR executive who has won international awards for her projects. She lives in Texas with her Canadian husband, three house rabbits, and spaniel Wills. Terribly allergic to her bunnies, she loves them anyway!
Kay is a member of the national board of Mystery Writers of America and also president of its Southwest Chapter. Also a member of International Thriller Writers, she is a contributing editor to its online monthly magazine, THE BIG THRILL. Other organizations she belongs to include Crime Writers of Canada, Writers League of Texas, Houston Writers Guild, and the Texas Association of Authors.

Karen is a standup comedian who does her routine for local talent nights and loves reading, crafts and drawing.
Our third guest is Marta Moran Bishop, author of Wee Three: A Mother’s Love in Verse, as well as a novel called Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal, the story of the first year of our rescue foal’s life told from his point of view, 4 adult poetry books, a dystopian series called The Divide, and four other novellas and five short stories. I write both poetry, (adult and children’s) stories of animals, the paranormal, dystopian, and many other things.
Final is author Viv Drewa. Viv is a Michigan native who has enjoyed reading and writing since 1963. She was awarded third place for her nonfiction short story about her grandfather's escape from Poland. Later, she rewrote this story and was published in the "Polish American Journal" as ""From the Pages of Grandfather's Life". She has started Owl and cat Book Promotions to help her fellow authors by providing affordable services.

When she's not writing, Addison spends her time traveling the world, collecting interesting cocktail recipes and hosting parties. She's still addicted to reading and enjoys jogging in her neighborhood park, sipping red wine, binge-watching TV series, vintage clothing and hanging out with her artistic other half and their neurotic cat Lucy. Nancy Stohlman’s books include Madam Velvet’s Cabaret of Oddities, The Vixen Scream and Other Bible Stories, The Monster Opera, Searching for Suzi: a flash novel, and Fast Forward: The Mix Tape, a finalist for a 2011 Colorado Book Award. Theasa Tuohy is a long-time journalist who has happily turned her life experiences and reporting skills to fiction featuring female reporters. She was born in Oklahoma City, the daughter and namesake of a pioneer female pilot who flew an old World War I "Jenny" with an OX-5 engine. Theasa worked for five daily newspapers and the Associated Press. Her "first woman" stints included assistant city editor at The Detroit News and the copy desk at The (Newark) Star Ledger.
Wanda Snow Porter grew up in a small town on the California coast riding horseback on land once part of an old Mexican rancho. An avid horsewoman, she has owned and trained horses all her life, learned the vaquero way of riding, and earned a Bronze Medal Riders Award from the United States Dressage Federation. She enjoys bird watching, photography, and being a docent at Rancho Nipomo's historic Dana Adobe.

Wilson is the author of Populace, which is a novel about America after a catastrophe. Cynthia Sharp has just launched her beautiful poetry book, Rainforest in Russet. Cynthia is a frequent guest on the show and I am delighted to have her back again to speak about her new book and share some of the amazing poetry which is inside of it. There was no show in July, so I could attend the Public Safety Writers Association conference. My guests for this month are two authors I had the pleasure of spending time with, Robert Calkins and Gloria Casale.
Robert "Bob" Calkins has been a search and rescue dog handler in Kitsap County, Washington, for more than a dozen years. He currently searches with K9 Ruger, a four-year old Golden Retriever who is his third search dog. He and his dogs have responded to everything from routine missing person cases, to homicides, to the horrific landslide that in 2014 swept over homes in the tiny community of Oso, Washington. Bob is also the author of the Sierra the Search Dog series of books for children and adults.
Gloria Casale grew up in a small blue collar town in New Jersey. She earned her medical degree at the University of Kentucky and completed advanced training in anesthesiology as well as preventive medicine and public health.
She received training in bioterrorism and bioterrorism response at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases and is a recognized expert in the international transport of disease.

Summer's coming to an end – at least in some parts of the world. Here in Florida, it's summer 99% of the year! However, officially, as far as the school system is concerned, it's winding to a close. R Lawson Gamble is an ardent historian and recently appeared in a documentary on Invitation au Voyage for ARTE Europe.
Randy Rawls was born and reared in Williamston, North Carolina, a small town in the northeastern part of the state. From there, he says he inherited a sense of responsibility, a belief in fair play, and a love of country. As a career US Army officer, he had the opportunity to learn, travel, teach, and hone talents inherited from his parents. Following retirement, he worked in other ventures for the US Government. Every job has in some way been fun. Even the dark days of Vietnam had their light moments, and he cherishes the camaraderie that was an integral part of survival in that hostile world.

Frankie Y. Bailey is a mystery writer and a professor of criminal justice in the School of Criminal Justice at the University at Albany. She is a recipient of the George N. Dove award and of a Macavity Award for her nonfiction book, African American Mystery Writers. She also has been nominated for Edgar, Anthony, and Agatha awards for non-fiction. Her mystery fiction features amateur sleuth/crime historian Lizzie Stuart and police detective Hannah McCabe. She is a past Executive VP of Mystery Writers of America and a past president of Sisters in Crime.
Weslynn McCallister, AKA Jamie Cortland has won many awards for poetry in both literary and poetry magazines, including a second place award for Best Romance Novel in 2002 at the Florida Writer's Conference for the first edition of Apache Springs. She belongs to many organizations, among them the National Writer's Association, Romance Writers of America, National Association of Women Writers, Authors for Charity and is a founding member of the Florida Writer's Association.

Hello all. Today is the first day of spring....let's see how Mother Nature reacts to that. My guests for March are J.T. Bishop and Tony Piazza. Neither of these authors are new to me...I love their books. I've read all of Tony's and two of J.T.'s so far.
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, J. T. Bishop began writing in 2012. Inspired by a video that theorized the meaning of the end of the Mayan calendar, J. T. began the Red-Line trilogy. The video surmised that the earth was the central hub of activity for extraterrestrials thousands of years ago. J.T. didn’t know whether that was true or not, but it did spawn an idea. What if those extraterrestrials were still here? Two years and a lot of work later, the first three Red-Line books were complete, but she’s not done. The Red-Line saga develops as she continues to write new books.
Tony Piazza is a mystery writer, film historian, and veteran storyteller renowned for his passion for writing and movies. He is the author of five mystery novels, a non-fiction work, and numerous short stories. Actor and stand-in for movies and television, Piazza has appeared in such notable films as Magnum Force and The Streets of San Francisco. E. Kay Sims was born in Naples Italy while her father served in the United States Marines. After high school she worked as a reference librarian on a military post for almost 3 years, hence her love and passion for books. She's been writing stories and poetry since she was very young. She comes from a long line of veterans so she has a strong sense of duty and patriotism, love of country and God which lead to her desire to serve. She enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Kadena Air Base Okinawa, where she met the love of her life, a fellow serviceman, John Sims, her husband since 1990. While on active duty she was severely injured and medically retired. Through her passion of helping others, she became a certified yoga instructor teaching yoga for PTSD to Vets. She has raised two children and become a grandmother of two. She was once a radio broadcaster/ Program Director and Assistant Station Manager of KYRS 95.3 FM Spokane. Now, semi-retired, she has time to dedicate to writing and publishing as an Indie Author.

Mystery author Randy Rawls grew up in northeastern North Carolina. Randy has been an avid reader all of his life and has tried to incorporate what he has learned from the best into his writing. Randy may live in South Florida now, but his heart resides in Texas.
Sue Owens Wright is an award-winning author of fiction and nonfiction. She is a member of Mystery Writers of America, DWAA, Sisters in Crime, PEO International, Sierra Pastel Society, SSPCA, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her newest novel is "The Secret of Bramble Hill".

During S.L. Smith's thirty-two years with the state department of public safety, she worked with law enforcement and fire officials at the state, county and municipal levels. All three of her previous books include a social issue. In Blinded by the Sight, it’s homelessness. For book two, Running Scared, it’s the impacts of a failing marriage on the kids. Book three, Murder on a Stick, addresses a plight faced by many of the elderly. Smith is a member of Sisters in Crime and divides her time between Minnesota and Florida.
Judy Alter is the author of six books in the Kelly O’Connell Mysteries, two books in the Blue Plate Café Mysteries; and two in the Oak Grove Mysteries. Pigface and the Perfect Dog follows The Perfect Coed in this series of mysteries set on a university campus. Judy is no stranger to college campuses. She attended the University of Chicago, Truman State University in Missouri, and Texas Christian University, where she earned a Ph.D. and taught English. For twenty years, she was director of TCU Press, the book publishing program of the university. The author of many books for both children and adults primarily on women of the American West, she retired in 2010 and turned her attention to writing contemporary cozy mysteries.

Eleanor Kuhns is the winner of the Minotaur Books/Mystery Writers of America First Crime Novel award for 2011. Her book is called: The Devil's Cold Dish. Barbi Barnard, is married to a retired Oilfield worker and lives in the Northwest of Louisiana. Mother of three children of hers and two stepchildren, she and her husband adopted another teenager. Six kids and eleven grandchildren later there isn’t as much time as retirement promised. Happily they are expecting their 12th grandchild in the fall of 2017.
Writing was a way to pass time between library visits as a young child and continued when she needed stories to read to her children. In the spring of 2014 she sat to write her first adult story to publish. With advice and coaching from the Indie Authors she followed on Facebook she published soon after. At this time there are seven books and one short story in an Anthology.

Bob grew up in a military family, graduated from the Air Force Academy, then had a twenty-eight career of his own in the Air Force. While serving In the Air Force Bob specialized in criminal investigations and counter intelligence which shows in the books that he writes.
Like her heroine Corrie Locke, Lida worked as an entertainment lawyer for a film studio in Hollywood, California. Lida resides in the northern tip of Southern California with her family, their rescue shepherds, and a flock of uppity chickens. She was one of two national recipients of the Helen McCloy/Mystery Writers of America scholarship for mystery writing.

Rich is known for his pictorial history of Las Alamos, CA and his Zack Tolliver, mystery series. But he has also written a middle grade fantasy novel, Payu's Journey, and it's this that I want to talk with him about.
John spen nearly ten years in law enforcement in Southern CA as a street cop, a training officer and a member of the elite SWAT team, and it shows in his writing. John is a new author to me, but I loved Operation Scorpion.

Stephanie Bell, is a multi-award winning and Emmy-nominated producer with over 20 years of experience in production and business & legal affairs. She started her career as an actress studying under Academy Award winning director Mike Nichols. Her move from NYC to LA shifted her career from acting to producing. Stephanie's first feature, the sci-fi thriller Inverse, won multiple best sci-fi awards and is currently being distributed. She also served as line producer on the web-series Her Story, about transgender women in Los Angeles, which was nominated for an Emmy. Her current feature, I Am Still Here, about the horrific child sex slavery industry in the US, will premiere on Sunday, February 19th at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and has already won Best Independent Feature, as well as being nominated for over 15 awards. She recently formed the production company, BelLipoma Entertainment, with her partner Michael Lipoma. The company’s goal is to entertain, impact and inspire.

Shhh, it's a secret! Don't tell anyone, but our guests today write under assumed names. They prefer to remain nameless - until the show, of course. Not all authors write under their own names, preferring the anonymity of a pseudonym. Or, they use a different name for each genre they write. I know an author who writes under seven different names - one of them is hers - and I honestly can't remember which. In any case, both my guests today use pseudonyms for some of their writing. In case you didn't know, so do Christina and I.

Wanda grew up in a small town on the California Coast riding horseback on land that once was a part of a old Mexcian land grant. She is an avid horsewoman who has owned and trained horses all of her life, and it shows in the stories that she writes.
Bob Calkins has been a search and rescue dog handler in western Washington state for more than a dozen years. He currently searches with K9 Ruger, a four year old Golden Retiever.

30-year veteran filmmaker Todd E. Braley has over 700 local TV commercials to his credit, two feature-length films, 2 documentaries, 14 short films, 150 news magazine shows and 105 episodes of a local cooking show. In March 2011, Braley's short film "SILENCE" was accepted at the New Hope Film Festival in New Hope, and in 2012 another short film, “Me, a rapist?” was awarded Best Director and Best Actor at the Yuma Film Festival. 2013 has seen Braley's newest film “LIAR” being accepted into the Grand Junction Film Fest in Grand Junction, Colorado where the filmmaker lives. 2016 brought Braley another award, winning Best Web Series with the series “Surviving the Undead – Season 1” which also aired locally on television on My Network (Cable, DISH & Digital Antenna). Todd has been teaching Acting classes for film on and off for many years, teaching Adults and Children about how to be a “natural actor” not so much teaching a “method” of acting but using yourself as a motivation to bring a character to life. Teaching from a Director's standpoint, Todd has been able to make strides with new actors as well as seasoned talent bringing out the natural emotions needed for a believable performance.

M.E. attended Indiana University in Kokomo where she studied Social and Behavioral Sciences. Her interest in the phsychology of humans sparked her curiosity to ask why they commit such heinous acts upon one another.
In creating the Circle City Mystery series, she brings to life fictional characters who work diligently to bring justice to the victims of crime in the city of Indianapolis.

Amy is bringing the cast of her upcoming movie, "Letters to Daniel" and we will be hearing from a few of them during the program. She will also be talking about the Kickstarter, which is already underway to raise money so she can do the film. This film will be using the award winning screenplay, "Letters to Daniel" which describes Amy's struggle with mental illness and how she was able to control it and find a way to lead a fairly normal life with bipolar disease. The screenplay came from the letters Amy wrote in her blog, which was turned into a book and then became the screenplay. Amy will be talking about everything that it takes to make a movie and why the Kickstarter is so important for the success of this endeavor. Amy grew up in Texas, but has lived most of her life in New Mexico. She is the author of the Black Horse Campground series. The latest which is titled, At The End of the Crossroads.
Larry and Lorna Collins were raised in Alhambra, CA. They were both on the team that built the Universal Studios Theme Park in Osaka, Japan.
Their memoir of the expereince titled, 31 Months in Japan: The Building of a Theme Park, was a EPPIE finalist. Their latest book is The Memory Keeper, a historical novel of San Jaun Capistrano.

Mr. Roberts has published the acclaimed book, Lost and Found, which contains poetry which as one reviewer said, "..speaks to your senses, your outlook on life, your own life, your philosophies, your principles and prejudices, and so many other aspects of what defines our existence, sometimes all in the same poem." Despite such reviews, Mr. Roberts is humble and a gentleman. He will be joined by his publisher, Susan Joyner Stumpf, who will discuss how this amazing book came to pass. On the same show I am pleased to be welcoming Nicholas Maze, who has written The White Collar Woman series. The last book has recently been published and we will discuss how he came to writing and why he wrote this series. On Thursday, March 24, 2016 Barbara Ehrentreu, the host of Red River Radio Tales from the Pages welcomes two outstanding authors, Pam Webber and Steve Schwertley. Ms. Webber has written a novel called The Wiregrass, which has been called: "An amazing evocation of time and place." Steve Schwertley wrote an entire series called The Heartland Series. Enemy in the Heartland tells a story that is very pertinent to what is happening today in Europe. This should be a very interesting show as we learn more about each author and then discuss the various issues from each novel.

Hope you are staying dry. We have had some wild weather since March blew into town. My two guests for March are Radine Trees Nehring and Tara Willis.
Multi-published author.Radine Trees Nehring and her husband John moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to rural northwest Arkansas in 1988 after spending weekends on their Arkansas land for ten years. Radine began writing a series of articles, essays, and stories about the Arkansas Ozarks shortly after she and John bought their land, and these found interested readers around the globe. Radine has received many regional and national awards, including a National Silver Falchion for mystery writing and the Governor's Award for the best writing about Arkansas. Radine was the 2011 inductee into the Arkansas Writers' Hall of Fame.
Tara Willis, the author of Carry Me Home, grew up in the Bristol Bay area of Bush Alaska, the eldest of four. She likes to think she was born with a pen in her little newborn hand. As a very young child, Tara used to “write books,” by drawing a stick figure scene on a page, labeling the pages 1, 2, and so on, always including the title on the first page. She wrote the first draft of “Carry Me Home” when she was just fourteen years old.

On Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 4PM EST I am pleased to present a very unusual and extraordinary poet as well as returning guest Joseph Aquilino. Phillip Matthew Roberts who also goes by the name Phillip Quotient wiill talk about his poetry and his own life experiences which have shaped his poetry. He has two books published: People of Persuasion an 80 page sample of his poetry written between the ages of 24 and 35 and American Loser, an autobiography. Joseph Aquilino is the founder and a radio host for the JGF network. He also hosts authors and poets on his various radio shows on WIRN. Mr. Roberts is a member of several poetry groups on Facebook and his poetry is unusual and sometimes provacative. This looks like it's going to be a very interesting show and if you listened to my last show you know Mr. Aquilino has a book published called Roman Empire vs America. We will be continuing the discussion from the last show on which he appeared.

Gerrie Ferris Finger grew up in Missouri, then traveled South to join the staff of the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She traveled the Tobacco Roads of Georgia and Alabama and the narrow, historic streets of New Orleans. She wrote about Natchez, Mississippi's unique history, Florida's diverse population, and the Outer Banks struggle to keep light houses from toppling into the sea. In 2009 she won The Malice Domestic/St. Martin's Minotaur Best First Traditional Novel for The End Game. Her latest book is Running With Wild Blood.
Born in Chicago, Serita Stevens (a registered nurse) came out to Los Angles when offered a teaching job at USC. Serita says she has always been a writer. With her master’s in writing (with honors) from Antioch University in London, England, she went on to become well known in the romance and mystery field. My two guests for March are J.J. White and Quintin Peterson.
J.J. White has penned seven novels and over two hundred short stories since he began writing seriously. He has had articles and stories published in several anthologies and magazines. J.J. was recently nominated for the Pushcart Prize for his short piece Tour Bus. His novel, Prodigious Savant, was published in 2014 as part of a three book deal with Black Opal Books.
Quintin Peterson is a retired District of Columbia police officer who served the public for more than 28 years. He is an artist and an award-winning author of crime fiction. Quintin was also a liaison between the department and members of the motion picture and television industries, acting as a script consultant and technical adviser.
Both authors are new to me. I hope you can come by and listen as I discover more about each of them.
Jan Romes is a hopeless romantic who grew up in northwest Ohio with eight zany siblings. Married to her high school sweetheart for more years than seems possible, she is also a proud mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She likes to read all genres, writes witty contemporary romance, is a part-time fitness trainer, and enjoys growing pumpkins and sunflowers and likes new ways to ways to stay fit. She's a member of Romance Writers of America..
Jan's novels are certainly amoungst the premier in romantic fiction. The first book in one of my favorite of her series is Married to Maggie.

Mark began his writing career as a Southern California newspaper reporter covering police and general assignments. Since then he has written TV and radio commercials and print and online advertising as a copywriter. Most recently he was a correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle. His latest book is A Death in Nostalgia City.
Kurt Kamm lives in Malibu CA. He uses his contacts with CalFire, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department and the ATF, as well as his experience in several devastating local wildfires to write fact-based firefighter mystery novels. Kurt’s latest book is Tunnel Visions.

Host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes guests from the last year to Red River Radio Tales from the Pages on Wednesday, December 17th at 4PM EST. Each guest who can make it will read a holiday story or poem. Besides the guests all listeners are encouraged to call in and share their own holidays stories and poems. Robin’s career began at eight when her grandmother insisted she read Gone With The Wind before she took her to see the movie. Inspired by Margaret Mitchell, she began scribbling her own stories and went on to become the editor of her elementary school paper, as well as a columinist in high school.
Joanne Lécuyer is a Canadian indie author who loves writing positive fantasy/ fiction books for kids - chapter books for ages 7-10. Her books include: Kaptain Vamp, The Witch, the Cat and the Egg, The Witch, the Cat and the Water Dragon, and My Friend Merlin.
