And who said Autistics have no empathy!
In today's episode, Lisa discusses neurodivergence and the challenges that they can face in the workplace today. Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling back in the first series: "The World Through Your Eyes.."
This week Natasha is joined by another fantastic guest Kathleen Helm.
Kathleen (they/them), is an ADHD-er who was diagnosed with ADHD in 2022 at the age of 30. Despite an objectively successful education and career in Events Management they have struggled with their mental health and chronic pain issues since childhood.
Since being diagnosed, Kathleen has been on a journey of self-acceptance, recovery, relearning and credits their diagnosis as not only life-changing but lifesaving. They are on a highlypersonal mission to support the neurodiverse community by challenging the popular narratives around neurodivergence through empathy, education and empowerment.
Kathleen is an ADHD UK Ambassador, working towards positive change in their region, and credits the charity’s support groups and volunteering, as a vital part of their own journey.
Kathleen is non-binary, queer, diagnosed with combined ADHD, self-diagnosed Autistic and multi-disabled. They live in Yorkshire, love to dance and cook for their loved ones and can be wonover with pictures of dogs.
In this episode, Kathleen discusses their diagnosis of ADHD in 2022 and the impact of this on their life since as well as the grief of not knowing sooner and what impact this had on their mental health, physical health and childhood. Kathleen first discusses the ‘lightbulb’ moment when ADHD was first suggested to them and their own ignorance around ADHD, difficulty in pushing past imposter syndrome to seek diagnosis and the subsequent journey of being diagnosed. They touch on what diagnosis meant and how they, like many others, experienced trauma and grief .
Come, Learn, listen, and experience the world through not their eyes, our eyes!

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling inthe third, long-lasting series: "The World Through an Our Eyes.." where she is will be joined once again by fellow ADHD Careers Coach Nikki Hardy in a “Starting the conversation” Episode.
Nikki is 49, living on the Essex coast in the UK and is a single parent to her daughter Hope and 2 dogs. She was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 43 and her daughter also has ADHD.
Having always cared so much about everyone and everything and being a huge people pleaser, her undiagnosed ADHD meant that people were never pleased with her and this extinguished the bright spark within her. Moving schools 3 times, the worst one in year 8 of secondary school also had a huge impact and after a disruptive school life she left school with 2 GCSE’s a very poor sense of self and no direction.
The following years were turbulent but not without some significant achievements – none of which were recognised by Nikki. Everything changed when Nikki started working withina sector that was aligned with her ‘purpose’. Working within the third sector and then the NHS Secondary mental heath services helping people find employment that all of Nikki’s previous difficulties and traumas were now something that could help and inspire others and this was when she started to really grow in confidence and be happy with who she was.
At the age of 43 Nikki was diagnosed with ADHD and that is when everything changed. Nikki shares her career experienceand how her late ADHD diagnosis helped her to navigate her coaching career.
In today's episode, she discusses the difficulties ADHD brings when trying to find a career path, and shows how much more there is to careers than you might think. She provides a step-by-step process for finding your ultimate purpose and working with it.
Come, Learn, listen, and experience the world through not her eyes, our eyes!

Franck is a formally-accredited Neurodiversity Coach with lived experience of Dyspraxia & ADHD. His diagnoses came later in life, at 23 and 30 respectively, only after graduating university and several years of professional experience in the corporate world.
Without realising it, he’d spent 30 years learning the importance of self-management ‘the hard way,’ without having had any Coaching of his own or anyone to turn to with his questions. This in turn triggered his decision to retrain to be a Neurodiversity Coach for people with ADHD, Autism & other Neurological conditions.
Before training across a number of different Neurodiversity & traditional Coaching disciplines, he graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Exeter. He previously spent 8 years across a number of Sales & Marketing roles at brands including Cadbury’s, Toblerone, Innocent Drinks, Patak’s & Tabasco.
Nowadays, he works primarily with younger adults of 16-35 on helping them better understand themselves, unlock their strengths to reach their goals
In this episode, Franck and Natasha discuss the challenges that Neurodivergent teenagers and early adults have in daily life. They touch upon late diagnosis, education, social relationships, and the huge life transition that young adults face.

Compassion exercise:
· Ask what am I feeling? (you don’t need to ask why, just what is the feeling)
· Understand that I am not alone in this emotional experience, meaning there’s nothing I’m feeling that others haven’t also felt before
· Acknowledge that this may be a really hard feeling.

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling back in the first series: "The World Through Your Eyes.."
This week Natasha is back yet again with a guest with a twist as the guest in fact is herself, and the host for this week is her partner Ben. Like the first-ever episode, she is back to discuss a new turn of events.
Natasha, 30, from the UK, lives in York with her partner Ben and three furr babies after the last six years of traveling and living abroad. Her neurodivergent journey started with being diagnosed with OCD, anxiety at age 16, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia at 21, ADHD at age 27, and now four years later, a final diagnosis of Autism. She is currently an ADHD Life coach in the UK for young adults and teens in her business Indigo Hub.
In this episode, Natasha will dive deep into her recent Autism diagnosis and not long Autism life. She will share her experience of the diagnostic process, what led to this, the differences between this and her ADHD, and what’s on the cards moving forward. It’s the final (well, hopefully) piece to her neurodivergent journey.
Come, Learn, listen, and experience the world through not her eyes, our eyes!

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling in the third and long-lasting series: "The World Through an Our Eyes.."
This week Natasha is back with a ‘Open Mind Session’ where she will be joined by Executive Function coach and new acquaintance Holly Martinson.
Holly Martinson is a former public and private school teacher and has 20+ years of experience in the field of Coaching and Special Education. Currently, she is an Integrative Executive Function Coach with Patient Minds, of which she is the owner and founder. Holly uses multiple modalities when working with her clients, knowing individuals are most successful when provided with alternative ways of approaching a situation or task. She takes a holistic view with her coaching, knowing that all areas of life are connected to create wellbeing.
Holly possesses several hours of mindfulness training, to include specific training to support those who are neurodiverse. She believes each individual has a unique learning style, and invests in building strengths focused relationships with her clients to create a safe environment. In addition to her role coaching, Holly is a Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor. She presents and teaches on topics related to Coaching, Neurodiveristy, Stress Management, Mindfulness and Wellbeing. Holly has her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.
When Holly isn’t working, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, spending time with her husband and rescue dog or reading a good book under a tree. While reflecting on coaching sessions with her clients, Holly began to notice the challenge of discomfort presenting a barrier. She realised in both herself and her clients the discomfort was leading them to feel like they were doing something wrong, or the change they were trying to make was labelled as “bad” because it caused an uncomfortable reaction.
Through her training in yoga and mindfulness, she was able to reflect on this and pull in tools for identifying the discomfort as a physical experience and a trail marker for addressing and moving those barriers first, before change could be made. She also considers herself to be a “rule-breaking” mindfulness practitioner, as she teaches in ways that are more concrete and accessible than mindfulness is often taught. She believes using mindfulness as a way to create better awareness can be a powerful tool to help with attention, focus, uncomfortable situations, shame, and much more. She believes we each have strengths and can utilise those strengths to support Executive Functions and attention, rather than the “deficit” model of focusing on “fixing” what is wrong.
In this episode, we will discuss what mindfulness is, the benefits it can bring to the ADHD mind, and how we can rule break so we can make it work for us!
Come, Learn, listen, and experience the world through not her eyes, our eyes!

This week Natasha is back with a ‘Open Mind Session’ where she will be joined by fellow coah and Friend Alex Campbell.
Alex is an ADHD specialist, BACP psychotherapist, ICF coach, and Mental Health First Aid Instructor. He dedicates his life to helping others understand and thrive with neurodiversity. His portfolio career spans film & television, international business development and non-profit operations.
A proud father and a husband to a beautiful Kiwi, Alex understands the importance of family and belonging. He’s constantly aware of not being present and on a lifelong adventure in understanding how self-compassion supports him and his rather chaotic brain.
He’s currently about to make the biggest move of his life – emigrating to New Zealand and is just about to launch 2 ADHD courses. One’s being co-developed with another ADHD coach that’s for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understating of the lived experience of ADHD. And the other is an on-demand Self-Compassion course specifically for ADHDers.
In this episode, we discuss the meaning of Self-compassion and what it means for the ADHD mind. We touch upon why it is so hard for those of us with ADHD and how we can take slow steady steps to overcome that. We also discuss Alex’s next venture of his Self Compassion course!

Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling in the third and long-lasting series: "The World Through an Our Eyes.."
This week Natasha is back with a ‘Open Mind Session’ where she will be joined by Executive Function Coach Mallory Band.
Mallory Band is 30 and is from Maryland (in the US). She currently lives with her husband Andrew and their dog, Riley. She loves watching sports and working out, as well as being outside in nature. She has been working as an executive function specialist with Essig Education Group, serving children, teens, and young adults.
In 2022, she founded Band Together Education, a community that helps individuals with ADHD and learning differences reach their full potential. This is her true passion, as she was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety when she was eight and knows the power of asking for help and being supported by experts.
She has always struggled with feeling good enough. She continues to learn about her neurodiversity as she helps her clients gain independence and improve their self-confidence and self-esteem. Nobody deserves to feel alone or alienated and thus, Mallory loves being vulnerable and talking about her own lived experiences with ADHD and anxiety, in hopes to help others.
In this episode, we discuss the struggle with not feeling good enough and that it is often overtaken with imposter syndrome and rejection sensitive dysphoria. We touch upon worrying about the “what ifs” and the cause that it can make us be stuck in the past or propelled into the possible future, and rarely living in the moment. We can rely on my strengths and past successes to feel good about where we currently are and where are going. It is critical to help others understand value and worth. As… We are all good enough.

This week Natasha is back with a ‘Start the Conversation’ where she will be joined by Amy Quinn and featuring the incredible technology of Qbtech.
Amy Quinn is a physician’s assistant and clinical ADHD specialist in Wichita, KS, where she lives with her 2 children.
After years of unsuccessful treatment for anxiety and depression, Amy was diagnosed with ADHD at 40. The diagnosis sparked a new flame in her, as she realized she needed to help others who had been misdiagnosed or undiagnosed.
As a PA, Amy is the proud owner of her private practice in Wichita, Kansas, where she focuses on diagnosing and treating neurodivergence. Amy also serves her community as an officer in the Kansas National Guard, as well as a Hospitalist for multiple regional hospitals.
QBtech: ADHD management needs shaking up. Qbtech was founded to do just that. The founders understood from first-hand experience that the diagnostic process is complex and time-consuming. They also realized that diagnoses were based solely on subjective data and were determined to create a more objective approach.
Since 2000, Qbtech has been focused on a technology-first approach to ADHD assessments, combining both objective and subjective data to give patients a better, clearer diagnosis.
In this episode find out how Qbtech is revolutionizing the ADHD diagnosis and treatment process directly from the source. Amy Quinn, a physician’s assistant and clinical ADHD specialist, is using Qbtech’s objective testing with her patients and helping them understand and manage their ADHD.

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling in the third and long-lasting series: "The World Through an Our Eyes.."
This week Natasha is back with a ‘Start the Conversation’ where she will be joined by fellow ADHD Life Coach Tony Coward.
For Tony the penny finally dropped at the age of 48 that maybe undiagnosed ADHD was the ‘invisible saboteur' that had frustratingly eluded him for so long but finally explained the academic struggles, the multiple careers, and so much more!
After diagnosis he quickly made the decision to look forwards, empower himself with knowledge and ensure that the future would be better than the past.
Tony set out to discover as much as he could about how his ADHD strengths and challenges presented themselves. In an effort to connect with other adults like himself he started a local support group which quickly extended to supporting other ADHD adults individually. Later, having found himself at yet another career crossroads he began training as an ADHD coach with ADDCA - the gold standard in ADHD coach training.
After graduating, Tony founded Nomadd Coach to create a coaching space for ADHD adults, often late diagnosed, for whom a big part of the lived experience has been the cumulative frustration in work, at home and in relationships. Many of Tony’s clients are smart, high achieving professionals and entrepreneurs who, on the surface at least, look like they are succeeding but are often paddling like fury underneath.
As a career ‘solopreneur’ himself, Tony finds himself drawn towards coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs struggling to define their ‘mission’ and deliver their highest contribution. He has a particular passion for working with and supporting other ADHD coaches.
In this episode, we will be diving into ADHD and unfulfilled potential that not only seems to grow, it can also feel increasingly out of reach.
Come, Learn, listen, and experience the world through not her eyes, our eyes!

Bebe grew up in the heart of London, above a pub in the centre of Borough Market. Initially a shy kid but never without an instrument, pub life soon had her bursting out of her shell, even playing her mini glockenspiel in front of the locals some days after school. Bebe has always been a pop kid with a love for rock and roll; David Bowie being her strongest influence since she was ten. Despite hitting low moments over the years, she has remained an optimist, turning her darkest moments into soaring anthems that make you want to dance.

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling as she interviews the first guest of 2021, Miriam Gordon, in the twelfth diary entry of the series.
Miriam Levy Gordon was born in 1963 to highly traumatized parents. Because they were narcissists, they couldn’t allow Miriam to develop at all. She grew up in a small apartment in Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA as a shadow of herself, in pure survival mode, completely out of touch with her soul. While in high school she began having bloody screaming fits in which she cried, tore her hair out, and banged her head against the wall. She knew something fundamental about her life was very wrong, but had no idea what. When she was 17 she began to threaten to kill herself, which motivated her parents to send her to therapy. Forty years later, she continues to be in therapy. She’s accomplished a lot despite this, including a Ph.D. in Developmental and Molecular Biology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, USA (2001). Miraculously, she has been married for almost 22 years to a man who also grew up in a highly abusive household. Miriam and Steven met in graduate school. Despite their highly toxic, co-dependent relationship, they endured many difficult years together, but they also grew together. Miriam is 9 years older than Steven, proving that age is just a number. For many years, Miriam thought she would never get married, even though she always maintained a tiny kernel of hope inside. She finally married Steven when she was 36 years old. The couple were able to go on some very nice vacations together which tremendously helped to improve the quality of their relationship.
Miriam received a diagnosis of inattentive ADHD when she was 49 years old. Getting the diagnosis was a relief in that it explained in retrospect a lot of the difficulty she had in life. She currently lives with Steven and their adorable white poodle (Miriam’s first dog ever), Snowy, in a single-family home (Miriam and Steven’s first house that they own) in West Hempstead, New York, USA, on the south shore of Long Island. Miriam is unable to work in any sort of neurotypical environment, so she continues her life’s work in therapy and to research and write about everything she’s learned about her life experiences in her journal, which she hopes to develop into published writing at some point. Her ultimate goal is to be able to share her life experiences with others who are or have been experiencing the great misfortunes that she has, in the hopes of helping them learn about themselves, assuring them that they are not alone, and that there is help and hope along the long, arduous journey out of the abyss.
We hope you enjoy this truly inspiring episode and it creates awareness for so many listeners!
Have a great week ahead!
Until next time...

There is so much more to ADHD than we could ever even imagine. Tasha was overwhelmed when the neuroscience terminology and understanding began, but she soon realized how much validation and wisdom comes from knowledge. She discusses the ADHD brain's differences through the ages with neuroplasticity and the actual scientifical understanding of how ADHD brains function, the chemistry, and its structure in her own unique brian wiring way. (Apologies if any terminology is missed pronounced!)
In the second part, she highlights the importance of multi-model treatment with ADHD and shares her own experience with medication, coaching and complementary approaches.
We hope you like the episode, and we hope you join us again next week to discuss what ADHD Life Coaching actually is and the change process people go through.
Remember, we wouldn't see without knowledge, but without action, we wouldn't move forward. Take control of your unique self and do what's right for you.

Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries". Join host Natasha Hickling as she interviews her new guest, Esther Nagle, in the eleventh episode of the series.
Esther Nagle is a sober, tattooed, single mother, rock chick Yoga teacher with ADHD. Sober for 6 years, and diagnosed with ADHD just last year at 46, Esther has had a ‘colourful’ life, spontaneous and adventurous even in sobriety.
Esther has written a book about her recovery and the Yoga that guided her there and now focuses her teaching and writing on helping women with ADHD calm the emotional storms and find inner peace. Using, you’ve guessed it, the same tools that helped her to achieve sobriety!

Episode 7: "An 'ADHDer's' Natural Focus," By An Anonymous Guest
Dear Diary,
Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries".
Join host Natasha Hickling as she interviews a brand new guest; however, for privacy reasons, this guest will be kept anonymous, in the seventh diary entry of the series.
Our guest is 51 and is from India. He lives in Bengaluru with his family. He works as a marketing professional in a multinational medical device manufacturer.
Discover how a boy who started life as a vibrant and carefree city lad gradually locked his true self away as external influences and pressure to "fit in" took over, leading to struggles with mental health that continued into youth and middle-age.
After witnessing mental health struggles of individual members of his extended family, a diagnosis of ADHD traits finally came at the age of 40 after he spotted an article in the 'Education times' supplement of the 'Times of India.' By a pass-out from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). What particularly appealed to him from the literature read during the initial period of discovery about the condition was that people with ADHD could adapt their lifestyles to suit their ADHD.
The most intriguing thing was, he had no clue what these lifestyle changes were. Thus began his journey of discoveries about ADHD and how it can be managed. The journey has blessed him with the ability to connect with beautiful people, including fellow-ADHDers and ADHD experts doing yeoman service to the ADHD fraternity.
Consequently, he founded his own India ADHD online support group intending to connect people who are just like him so that ADHDers in India are aware that there are natural ways of managing and living with the condition besides professional consultation.
We hope you enjoy this truly courageous episode!
Have another great week!
Until next time...
