Its Chaste here and Im back this week for the theme of "Lets Defeat The Distance".
As soon as I knew the theme I know the song I want to sing this week,its called "From A Distance" .It was written in 1985 by the American Song writter
Julie Gold .Bette Midler record the song in 1990 ,its her version I am singing this week.
There are many beautiful lyrics in the song but the one I think stands out is this

Hello Guys
It's Chaste here and I am back singing for HIVE open mic with this wonderful theme of worship songs.
It's another well-timed theme that reflects the current situation of my life.
I mentioned in my last post my mother had surgery on Monday, April 3rd. Glad to say this surgery was a success and this past Wednesday, April 12th she finally is out of hospital and no longer burdened with pain.
We have much to give thinks for in this Easter season so I do my best to be part of the open mic community this week.
I really wish I can listen to all of the wonderful songs this week but I need to buy load balance for my phone to access and be part of hive.This means I can currently only spend around 2 hours max each week here.
This week I was most impressed by the song "This little light of Mine" by @stickupboys who had me singing along and even dancing around our house while I was cleaning.
I also really loved the song "Beautiful Name" covered by @jaydr which I found to be very soothing and relaxing.
The song I want to share this week is called "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart" by the American pianist and Christian songwriter Don Meon.
I particularly like this lines of the song...

Hi Guys
This past 2 weeks I havent been able to record for open mic .The main reason is my mother is currently in hospital awaiting for mayoma surgery , my siblings and I have been looking after her during this difficult time but thankful to say she will have this surgery tommorrow and hopeful everything is better for us here.
I also had no ideas of songs to sing for the muscial comedy week or for DNA but for this very special 3 year aniversary of HIVE Open mic I didnt want to miss oout, I want to be here to celebrate this big week with you all and I look forward to seeing what songs will be brought on for this week.
The song I want to try is one that I had to challenege my self to sing , for me songs like this one "Always" by Bon Jovi are to the extreme in vocal range . I think its not so easy to sing such powerful songs well so I challenge myself to try this one , which is a long favorite of mine but until recently I never have recorded it or sing it live on stage.
I hope you will enjoy listening to my version. Im sorry for the slight noise interferance in the start of the video , it is due to the rusted connections on my V8 card .I will buy a new one soon , for now hope it wont interfer to much with the video quaility.

Hello Everyone
I am very happy and excited to return to this community after a long and hard year in the Philippines.
My last open mic song was back at week 110 . Not long after that time, our area of the Philippines was hit hard by 2 hurricanes, Dante and Coloy both in June 2022. This happened only 6 months after storm Odette had caused a lot of damage to our area in December of 2021. Here are some of the photos I took of the damage in our area during the time of Odette in December 2021 and Dante and Coloy in June 2022.
For months I had no electricity and no access to internet, both my phones and all my recording equipment were damaged by the severe weather.
In that time my family worked hard to rebuild our house for the second time. We had to work to upgrade our living conditions so we don't have the same damage from storms that will come in the future.Here in the Phil's we get average 15 severe storms each year, less severe around this time of year mostly in April.The worst storms will hit usually between August and November.
This took a lot of time and all of our money to use many bags of concrete to raise our floor high above the flood water level and to buy better materials for our roofing and walls.I am thankful to say our new house was completed in time for the Christmas and New year celebrations 3 months ago.
2 weeks ago was the time of my 33rd birthday, with the money I receive as gifts I finally could buy 2 phones and pay for the repairs of my V8 sound card.
I have missed singing and being part of this community very much. I am hopeful 2023 will be a better year for us here.

Estoy muy feliz y emocionada de regresar a esta comunidad después de un año largo y duro en Filipinas.
Mi última canción de micrófono abierto fue en la semana 110. No mucho después de ese tiempo, nuestra área de Filipinas fue golpeada fuertemente por 2 huracanes, Dante y Coloy, ambos en junio de 2022. Esto sucedió solo 6 meses después de que la tormenta Odette causara muchos daños en nuestra área en diciembre de 2021. Aquí están algunas de las fotos que tomé de los daños en nuestra zona durante la época de Odette en diciembre de 2021 y Dante y Coloy en junio de 2022.
Durante meses no tuve electricidad ni acceso a internet, tanto mis teléfonos como todo mi equipo de grabación fueron dañados por el clima severo.
En ese tiempo mi familia trabajó duro para reconstruir nuestra casa por segunda vez. Tuvimos que trabajar para mejorar nuestras condiciones de vida para que no tengamos el mismo daño de las tormentas que vendrán en el futuro. Aquí en Phil's tenemos un promedio de 15 tormentas severas cada año, menos severas en esta época del año, principalmente en abril. .Las peores tormentas golpearán generalmente entre agosto y noviembre.
Esto tomó mucho tiempo y todo nuestro dinero para usar muchas bolsas de concreto para elevar nuestro piso por encima del nivel del agua de la inundación y comprar mejores materiales para nuestro techo y paredes. Estoy agradecido de decir que nuestra nueva casa se completó a tiempo. para las celebraciones de navidad y año nuevo hace 3 meses.
Hace 2 semanas fue el momento de mi cumpleaños número 33, con el dinero que recibo como regalos finalmente pude comprar 2 teléfonos y pagar las reparaciones de mi tarjeta de sonido V8.

This is my dog Lash , she is what we call here an Aspin or Asong Pinoy which means Filipino dog, this is the native breed of dog in the Philippine's.
On February 15th she became the mother of 5 puppies.

Hi Guys
Im excited to back after many many weeks :).
We recently have electricity turned back on here in the province of Negros Occidental
in Phillipines.
As you guys know we got hit by a super Typoon on December 17th and it has taken until now for the electrical networks to be functional agian.
It has been very hard for us these past 2 months we lost alot in the Typoon which was a class 5 natural disataster.
I want to say a big big thank you to my friend @celticheartbeat for raising money for us when the typoon hit and also a very very big thank you to @cabelindasy for the money you gave to us through @celticheartbeat 's fundraiser,it really helped us alot when we needed it the most,I am very grateful.
The theme this week is a good one for me to return with, New Times.
My family and I are starting over agian like we have had to many times in the past so the theme of New Times seem a good time for me to return here.
With the themes of new times and gratitude in my mind I want to sing the song "Wind Beneath My Wings" which is a song I have heard many times in my life sung by Bette Midler.

This week for the theme of Different Thoughts I want to sing the Céline Dion song "It's All Coming Back To Me Now".
I first sang this song a few months ago and I didnt sign it since then.I thought about how it is probably one of the best I have recorded for HIVE open mic so far.
My friend @celticheartbeat and I recently listened to every song I have posted to threespeak this year.We are trying to work on a set of around 6 songs we can play together when I travel to the UK in Summer time.
@celticheartbeat told me my Céline Dion and Whitney Houston songs are the most impressive and are the ones that really show the power of my voice.
He suggested those are the ones I should practice the most.
So with this in mind I thought I sing this one agian,its a powerful song that I love to sing.

"the intention with this theme is to honor the masters who reflect back to us the reality of ourselves here on the earthly plane."
My understanding of English is not the best but when I read those lines above the song that came to my mind is True Colours.

This song earned the singer Mellissa Manchester a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 52nd Academy Awards in 1980.
