We're nothing if not wildly inconsistent. No episodes for two months and then two in a week? Welcome to the show.
With an extremely quick turnaround from Fiji into the Finals, and with the only real swell of the Finals waiting period expected on day one, we've hustled to make sure Fiji gets its due and that our Finals picks are in just in time for them to probably be wrong.
We are also joined by Erin Brooks, the 17-year-old wildcard who claimed victory in her very first CT appearance, to talk through that big first win and also get her thoughts on who might win the 2024 World Title.

The Western Australia Margaret River Pro is always a captivating event, with all kinds of variables thrown at surfers in the wild west, especially now with the dreaded Mid-Season Cut. This year's epic Finals Day almost washed away the many short and strange days that led up to it, with a forecast that provided stunning lay days, but only small pockets of 'contestable' surf.
All of that provided our favorite moment of the year so far however, with an incredible maiden CT win for Gabriela Bryan, highlighted by her magical dolphin scene, and we're stoked to have her on the show this episode to talk about it all.

It's impossible to overstate the impact of the first two months of 2024 within the history of women's surfing. Between the earth-shattering efforts of Caity Simmers, Molly Picklum and Bettylou Sakura Johnson on the North Shore, Sally Fitzgibbons furthering her ISA GOAT status, and multiple new Olympians qualifying in Puerto Rico, including 14-year-old Chinese surfer Siqi Yang, boundaries continue to be broken left and right.
On this week's episode Shan and Rach go deep into it all. Much deeper, in fact, than they had any intention of doing. The 2023 ISA World Surfing Games saw many fascinating storylines play out, but one of the tightest battles came down to New Zealand teammates Paige Hareb and Saffi Vette, with Saffi making heat after heat thanks to seemingly endless buzzer beaters and finally claiming the Olympic slot up for grabs for the Oceania region.

Women's surfing officially has a new GOAT. Tied with Layne Beachley for seven world titles since 2018, Stephanie Gilmore solidified her position in the history books at this year's WSL Finals, breaking that record and finally winning her long-desired eighth.

Thankfully that all appears to be in the rearview as high-level surfing and fascinating stories just keep on coming from women at every level of surf media production.

It was yet another massive week in women's surfing as we saw history being made on the North Shore yet again, most notably from Bethany Hamilton, while on the other side of the world Justine Dupont had a brush with death surfing one of the biggest days ever seen at Nazare.
We also saw the 2022 Championship Tour get a shake-up with Caity Simmers officially passing up her spot on tour to the receptive arms of Molly Picklum and Lower Trestles switch out its place as a regular tour venue to once again play host to the WSL Finals, with El Salvador's Punta Roca appearing on the CT's social calendar for the very first time.

For the first episode in our new Critical Conversation series Shan & Rach catch up with Isabella Nichols.
As the only rookie in the women's field of the WSL Championship Tour during the most turbulent era of modern surfing, the former World Junior Champion had to learn the intense dynamics of tour life with constantly shifting expectations. Rising to the challenge, she managed a runner-up finish in the second event of the season, requalified in the top 9 of the CT at year's end, and locked in her position for 2022.
Bella shares with us some of the perspectives she's gained through her competitive career so far, her goals for the 2022 season, preparation on the North Shore and thoughts on the new CT lineup.

Whether you were for it or against it, history went down this week as the Rip Curl WSL Finals ran in close to perfect conditions at Southern California's Lower Trestles and crowned Carissa Moore with her fifth world title.
With Shannon on the ground as part of the WSL commentary team and Rachael on her couch in the middle of the night in Australia, the two share their differing perspectives on the first event of its kind, providing us with insights from the broadcast and the beach.
We're skipping the rest of the formalities this episode, digging straight into the discussion and will be back with all the regular segments early next week.
On this week’s episode of The Double-Up we preview the upcoming Rip Curl WSL Finals. Using a healthy dose of statistics (for Rachael) and gut feeling (for Shannon) the two diverge on how they think the day will play out for the Final 5 women in the hunt for the 2021 world title, with both arriving at surprising conclusions.

Who is the greatest surfer of all time? That's the question we raise in this week's episode. We have the obvious contenders in Layne Beachley and Stephanie Gilmore, along with historical women like Joyce Hoffman, Margo Oberg, Frieda Zamba, Wendy Botha and Lisa Anderson, but is competition the only marker? After spending a lot of time on competition surfing the past few episodes, this week Shannon and Rachael get closer the heart of why they wanted to start this podcast in the first place - a discussion around women in the surf industry.

If you're a fan of professional surfing you have likely already heard all about the changes to the WSL tours and the full CT and Challenger Series schedules for 2022 announced this week.
For our main discussion we delve into what these changes mean for the tour and how they will positively or negatively affect the women in particular. We have heard many opinions on the men's side, but very few for the women's. Here Shannon and Rachael share theirs.

Our main discussion this week centers around national representation. Going beyond the obvious Olympic conversation in regard to nationality, Rachael and Shannon look into what it might mean for the new WSL Regional Qualifying Series system and Challenger Series and beyond.
