Research and Justification
According to the studies in the scholarly journal Cannabis Research of Bio medical Central, the consumption of illegal substance among Jamaican teenagers are on the rise. This include cannabis, alcohol and other substances that are introduced in colleges and high schools. Today it is a pervasive issue. Alcohol abuse among teenagers is still a topical issue and if we can find an alternative to this scourge, we can help to curve this dangerous habit. My documentary seeks to find some of te answers that is often asked, and an alternative to social recreation since a high percentage of substance abuse emanate from teenagers trying to escape the reality of life
-What the program is all about?
My approach to unearthing the problem of alcoholism is unconventional. I will give an ear to a recreational drinker who knows what triggers the temptation, a psychologist who knows why individual abuse alcohol and a medical doctor who has the remedy, and last but not least, entertainment hosts who have alternative options for recreation. We will listen to their advice and experience and send messages to individuals who are vulnerable to substance abuse preferably alcohol.
-The importance
This documentary is importance as it will provide resourceful information and insights on alcohol abuse. It will also share the financial repercussions and health hazard if one decides to embark on overindulgence of alcohol.
-Expectations

Thesis Statement

[Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence.] Now that we attract visitors, how do we keep them and how do we build contacts when we are not online. In this episode we will share ways to build an email list through what is called "Lead Generation".

Collect email addresses
Email is one way to communicate. How do you get those valuable email addresses? Place them strategically on every page of your website, mostly at the header so every page that the visitor goes, it will be visible.
Create Sign Up Forms
Here’s how you can collect email addresses and other contact info on your website:
Include a contact form. Visitors will fill out the form on your site because they have a question, need information, or want you to contact them. It’s where they go to connect directly with you.
Add a sign-up form for visitors to receive information about products and services, updates, discounts, etc. Include an email opt-in box on your checkout page.
Give a special offer for joining the email list. simple, right? Most popular website builders include a contact form in the template, and WordPress offers some good contact form plugins like Gavity forms, WP forms to name a few. Generating leads is one way to build a digital footprint on cyberspace.

Unfortunately, some of the historical artifacts are now hidden treasures in Spanish Town. When the British invaded Jamaica and battled the Spanish in 1655, their victory was not in vain. In fact, over the centuries they made quite an impression. Their signature mastery of Georgian architecture and stacked red bricks, cemented memorable events that will never be forgotten. It is the ruins left behind that give prominence to these historical artifacts as we salvage the little-known secrets and have discussions about its past. We highlight opinion of some, regarding Spanish Town being a prominent tourist attraction.

To kick things off on our next step, I decided to break the ice and share an inspirational story. As is customary, every month I break the ice to introduce another episode to my usual digital marketing podcast.
The theme of today's story looks at life. I use biblical reference (John 11: 39-43) to highlight Lazarus' story. He was pronounced dead but was resurrected after Jesus visited his tomb. When we compared this story with many situation today, we see that often times we give up when there are greater opportunities for success. While we might not be physically dead as Lazarus, there are situations that are recoverable and hopeful if we practice more faith. What might appear dead in our lives, could be the perfect opportunity to prove there is a greatest force beyond our limited understanding.

We will continue to use this medium (social media) to differentiate our market and therefore target those are who most likely interested in our products or services.
Diginopsis:
Market Segmentation
Where are your customers?
We have to figure out where our market is in social media: where the people who are most interested in your type of products or services are spending their time and go there. Different social networks appeal to different demographics. Some platforms specialize in visual content while other focus on product features and benefits. Some networks allow you to share deep content, while some only allow short message in the form of tweets and some share live-stream video. Stay on top of industry trends, and “spy” on your competitors!
Also do some research
· Where is your target audience hanging out?
· How about your competitors?
· What benefits can each network offer your business?
Do remember the AP in social media marketing (Analyze and Prioritize)
Take all that data and find a way to bring across your message to the respective audiences. Define a social media strategy that works for you.
Next week we will compare some social media platform to see the best fit for the message we want to carry.
Let’s get connected! Next Episode we’ll delve more on social media. We will compare the various social media platforms to effectively reach out to our demography.

In our last in Season 1, we discussed how to use content to attract visitors to our websites. Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence. Today we will use tags to optimize your website and get better ranking on Google and other major search engines. This will help your website to stand out among miliions.
DigiNopsis:
Building a digital footprint involves the use of tags:
· Title Tags
· Meta Tag
· Header tag donated by the code (H1)
Title tag
Is shown in the browser’s title bar and displays a preview of the title content just as it would appear on your website in the search engine results. It helps if each page on your site contains a unique title but keep it brief — less than 65 characters including spaces.
Meta description tag
It’s a must for every page on your site and should include the keyword for that page. Note to note: Limit this tag to less than 150 characters.
And the final tag is, the Header in HML language it is donated by the mark up language (H1) tag
Each page on your website should include only one H1 tag. Keep the header tag short and be sure to include the page’s target keyword.
Have fun with keywords
Tips for your keywords.
Be relevant.
A relevant keyword helps online users find your site if they search for it using a search engine.
Be specific.
Your keywords should represent what you do, your location, the services you offer, your products, and your industry.
Be strategic.
Use them in your website’s content, page titles and image names. Use each word or word combination, as well as their variations, at least two to three times per page.
Be natural.
Overusing, or “stuffing,” your keywords will harm your site’s ranking. Search engines will penalize you if your content has an excessive number of keywords, so don’t overdo it
How to Optimize Images
Align the page’s target keyword to the image file name. For example, “red-therapeutic-shoes.jpg.” Always use lowercase and separate each word with a hyphen.
Use and optimize the Image ALT Text attribution, using target keyword. For our example, the Image ALT Text should be “Red Therapeutic Shoes.” Uppercase, no hyphens.
Make sure the page text corresponds to the image file name and Image ALT Text.
Here is another Tip: Making your image file size smaller so it loads faster can also help your search rankings.

In our last in Season 1, we discussed how to use content to attract visitors to our websites. Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence. Today we will show how to get Google and other major search engine to acknowledge our presence obn the wolrd wide web. This will help your website to stand out among miliions.
DigiNopsis:
While each search engine has its own set of ranking criteria, they all look at these same basic but key elements:
Relevant page content
A suggested practice is to include between 300 and 700 words per page, focusing the page content on its target keyword’s subject matter.
Keywords
Do some research to discover what select words and phrases people use to search for your type of business or product. Scatter these keywords throughout the content on your website
Meta tags
Now these are HTML tags that contain info to help search engines know what your site’s about. They help describe your website in search engine results.
Website navigation
This covers all the links on your site and how visitors navigate from page to page. Like visitors, search engines rely on good navigation to get around your site.
In the world of SEO, a broken link is like hitting a brick wall. Make sure all the URLs in your navigation are valid.
Sitemap
A sitemap is essentially a map or directory of all the pages in your website. It guides search engines throughout your site with the names and locations of pages. Learn more about sitemaps.
Link building
Search engines use both internal links and backlinks to rank your site. You create an internal link by linking from a keyword or sentence on one page of your website to another page on your site. Even more important for search ranking are backlinks — links from other websites that point to your site.
Image optimization
This one’s got its own section. We will discuss more in subquent podcast.

This is Season 2 in our Podcast Titled "Digital Matters". To kick things off on our next step as is customary, I decided to break the ice and share a motivational piece: 2022 The New Frontier. Now that 2022 is here, what do we do? Do we contine to make the same mistake year after year without journalizing and taking notes of our previous failures and challenges?
2022, Become Aware and Make the Most of the New Year
HOW DO YOU BECOME AWARE? It is the same thing as "living consciously.” Another interpretation is “observing ego”. All these definitions boil down to one common thing and that is taking notes of your daily challenges with the intentions of correcting them or being proactive going forward. We will identify a known pattern in our lives and recommend a solution for the monotony and failures that seem to appear year after year.
Observing ego is essentially being cognizant of what is happening around you and, in your life, and carefully noting all your actions. Without awareness, you'll be enduring your whole life on autopilot.
Let us look at this analogy: suppose you had to travel back and forth to work each morning and you are late for work because of being stuck in rush hour traffic. Then, the following day, the same thing is repeated when you take the same route. Obviously, the same results would be repeated.
That is a life without awareness. With awareness, after two or three times, you should have recognized that you would be lodged in traffic so therefore you would be more proactive. You would find another route or leave sooner so that you would not be late for work. You could also spend productive time resourcing time management strategies during the long wait (audio Mp3).
Making short daily personal notes (journalizing) is a good way of putting the puzzle together.
Journalizing is the best way of writing your life story. Years ago, people were accustomed to making journal entries in their diaries but since modern time, as our days' events increase, these practices become overbearing and hence become obsolete.
You would only find writers or journalist taking notes now-a-days. This lets you recap and motivate your progress and find better solutions to repeating problems.
Once you document your experience momentarily, something shifts in your brain and you never have to study the writing again. The simple act of documenting allows you to subconsciously think about the event without putting stress on your brain to recall it.
2022 seems to be promising period as we slowly recoup from the corona virus. Its prospects is hopeful, better and brighter with more responsibilities for some or less stress for others. Let’s journalize our challenges with the hope of managing them instead of letting them manage us. Let us forge ahead with a new mission like one famous science fiction movie Star Trek: “to boldly go where no man has gone before.”

In our last episode, we discussed how to get inspired and how to use those ideas to design your website using 4 basic elements- Logos/illustrations/images, colors, layout and fonts. Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence. Today we will select on of the above elements, Image. In this episode we will show you the importance of using images on your website.
DigiNopsis:
“Articles with images get 94% more views.”
When last have you been on a website? Notice the time you spent. What captures your attention apart from the text? Yes the pictures and illustration. By using a few pictures and/or short videos, you can quickly convey the message to your viewers.
Here are three tips for using images and video on your website:
They say pictures are worth a thousand words so instead of writing everything, show it to drive a better imaginary. Show it with pictures or videos on your website. If possible, your product shot demonstration. This mean getting real persons briefly using the product or service. Use these pictures and videos to create an impact.
If you need to snap a few shots of a product or make a video, you already have a tool you can use — your smartphone. Just adjust the lighting, be aware of the background you’re using, and snap away. When you’re done, you can edit them using an online editor, or an application like Adobe Photoshop or other photo editing software.
With stock images, you can save yourself time and get high-quality images at a fraction of the cost of a professional photographer. There are several sites that you can get high quality stock photos from Sites like Pixabay, Unsplash and others could give you the photos you need for your website.
Depending on your hosting plan, there should be an option to have high quality stock photos that you can use on your website. However, if you want to be unique, you can use your own pictures taken. If you’re selling products online, it might be worth the investment to have professional photos taken of

In our last episode, we discussed 5 important pages that your website should have to tell your complete story. However, after creating those 5 pages, how do we improve the overall look to drive further interest? Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence. Today we share suggestions on how to get that inspiration. In this episode we will show you how to get inspired and how to use those ideas to design your website using 4 basic elements- Logos/illustrations/images, colors, layout and fonts. These will definately do a good job of creating a remarkable impression...
DigiNopsis:
Think about how you want to incorporate your company logo into your website’s design. Maybe you want to match the color of your logo on your site, or make the logo “stand out” against a contrasting background.
For brand harmony, it’s important to choose the right color palette for your website. Do you own a photographic, graphic design or interior design company? Maybe vibrant colors like hot pink and tangerine speak to your brand. If you’re in the professional services industry, more subtle hues such as charcoal and blue might be more appropriate. Think about the feelings that the colors evoke for you and match them with how you want your customers to feel when they visit your website.
The way visitors read the contents on your website does affect their overall impression and how they interpret the message. Think about the fonts that might best represent your business — from bold, linear styles to more delicate, feminine fonts. Use italics where needed etc.
Consider the amount of “whitespace” (space between elements) in your design. A lot of whitespaces can denote clarity or simplicity, while having very little of it can make your site look active or intense. Other elements, like background colors, gradients, and the “texture” of your overall design can contribute to your online impression.

What would Choose, WEALTH or WISDOM?
To kick things off on our next step (Step 4), I decided to break the ice as I do every month to share true life experiences. As a writer, I always capture moments when there are lessons to learn. Most of my memorable interactions came from my daily commute. This time again while on my way to Queens on an 'A' train coming from Brooklyn, I spoke with a friend of mine. I asked him: "If you were to choose between being the wealthiest man alive or being the wisest, which would it be?

We are on the third step in establishing our digital footprint on cyberspace. Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence. This month we are focusing on choosing your web designer. Last week we discussed relating topics in my book ‘From Hair to Eternity- How to Get Your Business online’ as we highlights the steps Marilyn took to hire her web designer. Let’s continue…..
DigiNopsis:
The costs involved depend on the goals and needs of the business as well as on the plan which you choose to build your website. Let’s start with the domain name. Domain names might cost as low as $0.99, which is an initial promotional offer and usually renew for as low as $17.99 per year. As I have explained in the steps, domain name TLD (Top Level Domains) carry various prices depending on the domain name provider. Generally .coms are $17.99 USD per year. Other TLD’s such as .net, .info, .biz and .org and may be more expensive.
Web Hosting Plans
Web hosting plans range from $2.99-$49.99 per month and could be more. The variation depends on the packages that are offered. Bandwidth, Virus protection, Storage, Security and software, determine the cost of your web hosting plan.
Website Builders
Website builders vary from $4.99-$14.99 per month and also depend on the features and benefits required. Bloggers who use their websites for non-business purpose generally choose the lowest plan while others who use their website for business pay more to have their website optimized to gain traffic.
Ecommerce Websites
An ecommerce website enables financial transactions. The hosting plan for an ecommerce site could range between $9.99 and $49.99 per month. This variation depends on the number of products you will be displaying on your website and it offers various dimensions of the products offered (Pictures).
Next week will will talk more about discussing price, time and features of your website with your designer.

Now that we have decided the type of website to create, we will now choose who will be building the site. Should I hire someone to do it or do I create it myself? Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence.
DigiNosis:
Whatever decision you take, you’ll want to consider these 3 C’s:
· Cost
· Customization
· Complexity
Time, and ongoing maintenance is also a factor to consider. It is suggested to prioritize
your most important considerations, then weigh the options against your needs.
Let me quickly go through the different website options:
Site Builders
These are normally affordable options that allows you to choose prebuilt templates. You drag and drop these templates to fit onto spaces inside your backend. If you are creative professional with designing skills, this will be a breeze and again, it is easy on the pocket.
WordPress Platforms
If like the idea of building and updating your own website without learning HTML, but want more flexibility than a site builder, then WordPress is the way to go. You can choose from free or premium which mean paid WordPress themes (designs for the overall style of your website). There are numerous plugins that are dynamic and can boost your site’s functionality. Our web hosting business offers WordPress Managed platforms for any website idea. This is slightly different from the ordinary plans as managed WordPress plan handles bundle hosting, security and support into one plan to make it easier to set up and maintain a WordPress website.
Bespoke Website Designer
Hiring a professional designer could be a great option if you don’t want to build it yourself. Unless you’ve got a designer friend who might charge you a small sum, this is the most expensive route to get online. But it can be a great investment when you consider the time and effort it will require for you to build a custom website. In our next episode, we will discuss more on working with your designer to transform your ideas into your desired digital footprint. In the meantime, you can download my book, on Amazon. The link is in the podcast script.

High Spirits- Tackling substance abuse.
To kick things off on our next step (Step3), I decided to break the ice and share a true life experience. While I was travelling from Manhattan on a Number 3 train heading to New Lots Brooklyn, I noticed the smell of liquor drenching my nostrils. It was so strong that it permeated every pair of nostrils that breathe within a 10 feet perimeter in the train. I turned only to see a young man, good looking, neatly dressed, about 24 years old, sipping his 'colored' drinks from a beat up Poland spring water bottle. Our engaging conversation addressed the need to seek help whenever we are faced with problems. Substance abuse is a growing problem among our youths...
This could be a lesson to business owners as often times we are tempted by habits that could be detrimental to our business and personal lives. Until we acknowledge our faults and seek ways to recify our problems, we will be more than conquerors!

At the start of this month’s plan of action. We decided to ask pertinent questions when setting up our websites. One of the question was: What is the nature of the business? Is it sales driven where you want people to buy something? Or is it information based which means, you are just providing information. If your purpose is the first question, which is driving sales, then we need to prepare for it.
You will need an ecommerce website, or popularly known as an online store. These websites requires more attention than an ordinary website that is just providing information. Here’s are a few things we need to set up:
Digi-Nosis:
Merchant accounts let you accept payments from major credit, debit and gift cards on your site — so your customers don’t have to leave your online store to pay for their goods. One of our products which is the website builder or GoDaddy’s Online Store includes built-in payment processing. (check tinyurl.com/JamCovidHelp)
2 SSL – You would need an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate as that is the first thing customers do when they decide to buy something from your website. SSL certificates are digital certificates that encrypt the information your customers send when they purchase products or complete forms on your website. Visual indicators of an SSL can include a padlock icon in the browser, https:// before the website address, and a green address bar. Secure your ecommerce website with an SSL certificate to make sure customers feel safe making purchases on your site.
You may check out a list of options via the link in this podcast.
According to Digital Commerce 360, "Consumers spent $861.12 billion online with U.S. merchants in 2020, up an incredible 44.0% year over year, according to Digital Commerce 360 estimates. That's the highest annual U.S. ecommerce growth in at least two decades. It's also nearly triple the 15.1% jump in 2019."

I’m so glad you’re listening to this podcast. It means you’re serious about establishing a digital footprint by turning your business idea into a reality or taking your enterprise to the next level. Every Wednesday @12PM we will discuss important information about your web presence.
It is important to note that in order to compete we have to put ourselves out there and make a difference on the internet. That’s where your customers like to spend a whole lot of their time — reading, watching, researching, socializing and buying. There's power in your website as there's accessibility, opportunities for brand awarenesss, establishing credibility, New worketing and finally generating sales or getting desired action via your website.
According to Our World in data.org "Globally, the number of internet users increased from only 413 million in 2000 to over 3.4 billion in 2016. The one billion barrier was crossed in 2005. Every day over the past five years, an average of 640,000 people went online for the first time." Where does that put your customers and your business?
Digi-Nopsis:
Accessibility
I always say: Don’t punish me by telling me to come by at 8 or 9 am tomorrow. Showcase your products and services where I can view them anytime I want. This is the 21st century!
Building a Brand
You don’t have a large budget to advertise. A website is the best way to save as having social media profiles and other web-based efforts to raise brand awareness, establish credibility, and develop a loyal — and growing — customer base
Credibility
If one wants to establish credibility, then a web presence is the best way to build your brand. No matter how good you are, the word gets out on the internet. So if you have a bad business, it will spread. But let’s look at the positives. You have a good business, then the internet will tell as people search for reviews about your business and as the months continue, we will show you how reviews are done and how powerful it is.
Connect with customers
The next thing we want to do using our website is to connect with others. When I mean connect, we are not talking about internet connection but social connection. We all want to be Liked, right? The Internet offers endless
possibilities for engaging with your target audience,
in real-time, in the comfort of your pajamas. Possibilities for engaging with your target audience,
in real-time, in the comfort of your pajamas.
Generate sales leads
Last and not least is- we want our website to generate sales. Let’s be real — that’s what it’s all about. You can boost your customer base with a website, social media profiles, contact forms, and email marketing campaigns. See you in our next podcast where we delve more on preparing for your website or planning your website approach. Walk good!

To kick things off on our next step, I decided to break the ice and share a true life experience. Some time ago, I took a North Metro train to Grand Central New York and I noticed a peculiar incident involving a female passenger who sat in a seat scattered with food particles (crumbs). During the entire journey she didn't wipe the seat off even when she was offered help. I took a picture of the seat with the crumbs and decided to share my story as an anology of life. Sometimes we develop crumbs or in this instance, garbage around us to separate ourselves from others.
As we try to be more visible to the rest of the world in business, it would help a lot if we become more engaging and friendlier to others. The way we live do impove our digital footprint as we strive to create that indelible mark on the World Wide Web.
