The student vs. the professor, the waterborne gun platform, Washington fails to provide guidance, and the Lincoln administration makes a decision which prompts the Confederates to make one as well.
The crisis heats up with shots fired for the first time by the South Carolinians, President Lincoln learning just how perilous the situation is at Fort Sumter, and relief efforts being contemplated.
An initial look at the opening of the crisis at Fort Sumter with an overview of the initial call of secession conventions in the immediate wake of the 1860 election, South Carolina's Declaration of Secession, and the immediate actions taken on both sides as a result of it.
