The College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction is hosting a Research and Creative Activities Fair this coming May. During Dead Week, on the 5th of May, join us in Bluemont Hall to showcase your research or to simply learn more about the students research.

This week is Undergrad Research Week! It provides university students across the U.S. with the opportunity to shine with their progressive work from April 19th to the 23rd this year. Tune in to learn more about how K-State's Office of Undergrad Research & Creative Inquiry is celebrating.
But what can you do for this week? During the celebratory week, aspiring and brilliant students may present their ideas using various mediums ranging from video presentations, detailed papers, a performance, or a creative art display. Take your pick and enjoy this weeks episode.
On this special episode, Dustin Meritt, took over EdCats Chats to interview a military child about her experiences growing up in a military family. In honor of the Month of the Military Child we decided to chat with some military children to learn more about a life that many of us have never experienced, and gain some insight on how educators can adapt to teach military children. Be there or be square! K-State's Open House is this Saturday, April 9th, from 9am-3pm. Open House is the annual carnival of academic exhibits, entertainment, food, and fun every year. In this episode, I chatted with Roger Schieferecke, the assistant dean for the College of Education and the man behind our specific Open House entertainment this year.

Happy Graduation EdCats! This week we chat with James Alberto, one of the people behind the famous bell ringing put on by the College of Education each time the school year starts and when graduation happens! The bell ringing is a fun and ceremonial activity that culminates the end of the school year for those graduating.
This year you can come ring the bell with your friends and families from 11:30 am-1 pm on Saturday, the 11th, right after commencement. We can't wait to see you all there and good luck!

This week we sat down with Lori Goodson, an assistant professor and core teaching skills assistant director in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and the assistant director of the Rural Education Center. She also heads the College of Education Summer STEM and STEAM academies.
In this episode we chat about the Summer STEM and STEAM academies, how they are put on, what they provide, and why they are so important to the Manhattan community and communities outside of Manhattan. Today is National Stress Awareness Day! Being stressed out is no fun at all so on this episode I dive into some techniques you can try to relieve your stress on a daily basis. There are many ways to de-stress but I name the top five ways to take a breather and let your stress go. Check it out if you are feeling stressed about anything your life today.

The National Council of Teachers of English designated October 20th as the National Day on Writing. Today we celebrate National Day on Writing with a discussion with Dr. Todd Goodson, the assistant dean for teacher education. We go in-depth as to why writing and learning to write is so important, and why it is essential to everyone to be able to write. So, what are you going to write? This week we chatted with Nathan Dixon, a Native and K-State College of Education student, currently studying native literature. He brings his interesting thoughts and perspective on Indigenous peoples in native literature, and how he believes Indigenous peoples stories should be told. On October 20th, Dr. Debbie Reese, will speak on what native writers can do to bring to light the truth about native nations and peoples and set the record straight on some misrepresentations.
