Nothing belongs to us. Not even our testimonies. When we approach our lives in this way, whenever God commands us to share anything, we must obey. This includes the birth of our child. God knew this birth would bless more than just us as long we don’t get in the way by hoarding the experience. We were led to share our birth experience with a group of onboarding doulas and 2 days later, one of them delivered a child in an unplanned emergency. Our testimony was the encouragement God used to prepare her for her future. Everything happens on purpose.

- Yes we have access to the Holy Spirit, but what about other spirits?
- Was this birthing experience just for us?
- Does God use our testimonies for others?
Disclaimer, this point of view is one rooted in an understanding that God, the Father, created all things - including marriage.
Creators always include an operating manual. In our case, it’s that BOOK! Aka The Word of God. Marriage is included in this manual, but we did not start off this way. It was rough. We can’t help but wonder if others are experiencing the same malfunction. Not only did we have to change course, but I, Mark, had to lead. Or more simply put, I had to go first. Our views of marriage changed and so did our view of life. Are you using the view of God, or someone else’s?

Happy Saturday, Mark here. In part 1 of this 2 part episode, we get even more uncut. A conversation about good and evil yields a disagreement between the “fact oriented mind of a man”, (me), and the “expanded - detail oriented mind of a woman”, (Jade). I actually wanted to scrap this and start over but my wife reminded me of the importance of transparency here. We jump right into a conversation of how good intentions affect us and whether it will have the same effect on our children. As I relistened, I’m reminded that I must always handle my wife with more gentleness than I’m giving. Especially while she’s 8.5 months pregnant. I had good intentions in the conversation, but are good intentions enough?

We are born into a sinful world, not born sinners. There lies a huge difference. This means we learn our behavior and those behaviors shape who we are to ourselves and the world around us. The issue here is God already has a purpose for us - even if we don’t realize it. It’s not until deep rooted conflict arises in our spirit, that we recognize that maybe something is “off” about the life we’re living. So now what? Our vision has to go. All of it. A friend of the world is enmity towards God. Through the hurt, through the tears, through the uncomfort - we tore it all down. This is a requirement to rebuild ourselves into who God has called us to be according to His purpose for us. This episode pushes those limits in full obedience through transparency. This is #Uncut.

God’s way is often unconventional. Anti-cultural. Anti-world. He chose the foolish things to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV). We have to be "foolish" enough (from a worldly POV) to allow God full control. To give Him our heavy burdens in exchange for His lighter ones. Along that journey, everything is challenged. Is this God or is this me? Does my works prove my faith? Who, or what, is my faith in? Our thoughts and actions have been transformed over the last couple of years by allowing God full access through obedience. We do life differently now and our feelings are starting to catch up.

We were created to depend on The Creator. That dependency is based on us relinquishing control of our lives to God. He wants our body, soul, and spirit. How I spend my time dictates that relationship. Relationship helps to cut through distractions to get to know the character of God. Knowing the character of God helps us to know who to listen to, which directly impacts obedience. Without relationship it is harder to hear God. Without relationship we find ourselves limiting God and empowering Satan at the same time. Are we choosing to submit what we thought we knew for God to reveal who He truly is?

We were just getting into a groove. Things were going according to plan and in our eyes, it was exactly where we were supposed to be. Our plans were right on schedule. Then, Mark had a dream - well, dreams, that would change our course for the foreseeable future. God revealed His plans and they were clear. So now what? We’re choosing to obey. Obedience to God invites Him into everything. The first impact was in our prayer life. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6 to go into our prayer closet and pray the will of our Father and not our own. That reality has changed how we communicate with God, and each other within our marriage.

To grow, we must change something. A lot has changed in our lives over the last 3 years. While change starts on the inside of the individual, true change eventually works its way outward and will certainly affect others. That’s a hard reality in a world predicated on the outward appearance and action. As we grow spiritually the power of marriage is more evident in our individual growth.
