Public space is crucial to the vitality of a community. The public plaza surrounding Barcelona's Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) has for years been a centre of the international skateboarding community, even though it was never designed for this. The mix of skateboarding, art, and local neighbours is a fascinating study of how community grows, and some of the consequences as places become internationally recognized.
Growing up in a rough neighbourhood of Adis Ababa, Ethiopia, Israel Dejene found a way to use the passion he had for music and skateboarding to build meaningful connections to kids on the streets in his community. Listen to Israel's story of how this small outreach grew and became an inspiration to people across the globe, including celebrities in America.
So we started a cycling club in our town. Physical activity takes on new vitality when done together with others. Meet my friends Juschka Clarke, Michael Douven and Kristen Meindertsma. Find out why we started a club for cyclists and how it can foster healthy community.

In a traditionally male oriented skateboarding culture, girls have faced challenges to gain recognition. But with a DIY spirit they have created a new face of skateboarding culture. Rhianon Bader and Estter Barragan share stories of women in the skate scene and their personal experiences as a skateboarder.
