Our 2022 National Urban Sports Classic has officially concluded and our Podcast Hosts, Coach K & Coach Steve, were reporting live from UMASS Boston, Boston College, and Curry College to cover our Baseball, Softball, and Basketball teams! In episode 19 of Jumping Bases, our crew, Coach K, Coach Steve, and Khristophe were joined by Base Instructors and Alumni, Jordan Matos & Bryanne Toney. Our Instructors/Alumni share experiences from their playing years and offer advice to those coming up in the game. With many years playing for the Astros and Base, Jordan and Bryanne get to discuss how the game has changed through the years, tips on how to improve mentally and physically, as well as adversity that was faced on and off the field.
Our Jumping Bases crew takes on the Windy City, as Base Boston visits our Base Chicago location! Coach K, Kemauree Williams, engages in conversations with legends such as Bernie Williams, Peter Gammons, Rich Shultz, Frank Brim, Eric Davis, and many more who were involved in assembling the event. Baseball and Music met at Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs, where all conversations were captured.
Episode 17 of Jumping Bases is a conversation with one of our High School graduates, Anthony Javier. Anthony is a Base Student-Athlete continuing his education at Northeastern University in the fall. Throughout this conversation, Coach K, Coach Steve, and Khristophe ask a series of questions about Anthony's Pathway to Success. Currently, Anthony is traveling with our 18U Baseball team and has been accepted for an Internship with our partners at Feldman as a Surveyor.

In the 15th episode of Jumping Bases, Kemauree, Steve, and Khristophe are joined by Base Hoopz stars Ian & Ice. Ian is on the 5th Grade team and is Coached by our Podcast Co-Host, Coach K. Ice is part of the 8th Grade girls Hoopz team and also brought home the FIRST Championship to represent girls' basketball at the Base. Throughout this conversation we discuss some challenges they have faced during their season, along with ways that they can continuously improve. Our Base Hoopz stars provided Khristophe with some tips to help improve his confidence in basketball, who is also part of our basketball program. The conversation is wrapped up talking about the future of Ian, Ice, and Khristophe, along with feedback on the Coaching they receive!
In the 14th episode of Jumping Bases, Kemauree and Steve are back to discuss several topics. Over the month of April, both Coach K & Coach Steve were able to take some personal time, but the pair is back providing a future outlook over the next couple of weeks. As the Base Hoopz season is underway, Coach K shares an update for his 5th Grade team and Steve quickly touches upon the High School season, for the Base's new partnering school East Boston High. It is a very exciting time for the Base with our Alumni Game taking place @ Fenway Park on May 22nd , along with Graduation for a lot of our High School Seniors! Hoping to see you all there!

Kemauree & Steve ask Lori to share a Program Update for the BASES’s February Vacation Sports Clinic, along with some reflections on being a BASE Mom. Lori also goes in depth about learning from Robert over the years, as well as discussing how their relationship started in the Boston Street Workers Program. In Episode 8 of Jumping BASES we are joined by 3 BASE Student-Athletes – all Seniors – from our Softball, Baseball, and Basketball programs. Genesis Funes, Dante Christie, and Alfredo de los Santos sit down with Coach K & Coach Steve for a discussion about their high school experiences, adversity they overcame, including challenges related to COVID, and how The BASE has helped them along the way. We also look to the future and hear about their goals and something they are looking forward to as they prepare for college.
In a special episode 7 we look back at the good times times Jandell and Jeremey spent at "The Base" over the past couple of years as they look to start their new journey on the West Coast. In this episode we get some insight about how they ended up here at "The Base" and what it has brought to their everyday life. We spoke about what they will be taking away from their time spent here and what they continue to work on no matter where they are. They also got to take advice from Khristophe who's a well known voice here on "Jumping Bases".
Episode 6 of Jumping BASES! In this episode we sit down with Genesis Funes, a BASE Student Athlete and Senior at Dana Hall, along with her Softball Coach, Chuck Bilikas, to discuss some experiences on the softball diamond. Gensis talked about her relationship with her coaches, along with the adversity she faced as a person of color in the sport. Coach Chuck shared his past experiences as a Baseball & Softball Player/Coach and his road that led to the BASE.
In episode 5 of "Jumping Bases" we sit down with 3 of our student athletes who interview their moms about being base parents and what made them chose this program to groom them into the student athletes they are today. Throughout the interview the girls ask a series of questions they made up and wanted answers too. Coach K and Coach Steve took a step back and let the ladies run this episode helping them better their skill within pod class club.

In this episode Coach K & Coach Steve sit down with two BASE veterans - the General Manger of Baseball/Softball Operations, Steph Lewis, and Vice President of Operations at City Realty, Jimmy Caruso, to have a conversation about their past experience at The BASE. Steph and Jimmy shared a baseball diamond as Players and Coaches for many years and discuss some of those experiences, along with ways they grew as men and mentors within the BASE culture, while creating opportunity for the next generation of BASE Student-Athletes.
In the second episode of "Jumping Bases" we sit down with the Lynch sisters. We talk about what its like going to a PWI (predominately white institution) and the challenges Alona & Shakura faced going to a new team, along with making the proper adjustments to be comfortable in that type of situation.
For our first episode we sit down with the founder and president Robert Lewis Jr. who holds a conversation with two of our student athletes talking about overcoming the urban city myths and what drives his passion as a role model in the surrounding communities. Two standout athletes Gwen&Gris castro also speak on being veterans at the base and how their roles have changed since being here.
