”Shifting the Narrative” is a podcast that seeks to dispel the myths, misconceptions, and fears around Everything Autism. Stacy Badon is an Autism Education specialist, Sensory Enrichment Therapist, and Parent Coach, with previous experience as a Speech Therapist and Early Intervention teacher for public schools. She has 20+ years of professional experience supporting families in the Autism community, as well as global experience volunteering with nonprofit organizations. Torrin Kearns is an Autistic screenwriter, blogger, and neurodiversity advocate. Each week, they’ll deep-dive into a different autism-related topic in a quest to provide answers, skills, and strategies for parents, caregivers, teachers, and therapists.
On this episode, Stacy interviewed Pastiche Graham, a children's author, who is herself, autistic.
Pastiche is the author of Pia Pistachio Gets A Job, a tale of a young autistic woman who enters the work force for the first time and learns a lot along the way.
The women spoke about:
-The inspiration for the book's main character: Pia Pistachio
-Patische's own experiences as an autistic adult in the work force
-The time Patische ended up on CBS's hit show Undercover Boss.
-And much more.

On this episode, Stacy and Torrin are joined by Chantelle Hyde, an anti-restraint advocate and mother of an autistic daughter.
Chantelle is the Lead Canadian Volunteer with Alliance Against Seclusion & Restraint, an organization whose mission is to raise awareness and ultimately end the use of punitive measures against neurodivergent children, such as forced restraint and prolonged seclusion.
When Chantelle's daughter was first diagnosed, she became a huge advocate for ABA therapy. "It was the only road offered to me." Since then, she has worked tirelessly against the harmful practices of ABA, and to gain access to support services for her daughter.

On this week's (very late) episode, Stacy and Torrin talk about autism.
Yes, that's what we do every episode, but today, we discussed the shame and fear people when talking about autism. Often, parents and family members are hesitant to revive their child's autism diagnosis, even if doing so would help everyone involved.
We got to the root of the problem. Why are people ashamed and hesitant? How can we fix that?

Y'all read the title.
This week, Stacy and Torrin discussed the issues with situations were are commonly referred to as "inclusive" but are often times not at all. In many of these cases, autistic children either experience exclusion with extra steps or are being forced to conform for the benefit of others.
Obviously, these situations are not good for a child's mental health...

This week, Stacy and Torrin have some fun discussing a fake disorder known as Virtual Autism.
Basically, some doctor in Romania constructed a theory, backed up by zero scientific research, that screen time was giving toddlers autism-like symptoms.
While the idea of Virtual Autism is BS, the potential for grifters to prey on vulnerable parents is a ligament concern.

You see, Stacy has had some major life changes recently. As for Torrin, after over a decade of ignoring his physical and mental health, their rotted corpses have come crashing through the door like a zombie Kool-Aid Man. This forced him to make some changes...
But don't worry! They'll be back soon with a ton of new content and maybe even some upgrades to your listening (and visual experience).
See you soon.

You're a hard-working autism parent. You do your best to plan every detail of your child's life in order to avoid meltdowns and burnout. Yet, both of those things still happen.
The problem is, autism doesn't run on a schedule, and sometimes, you need to be flexible. In this week's episode, Stacy and Torrin discuss what you can do when autism decides to run on its own schedule.

We also talked about Thomas' prolific output on social media as well as our thoughts on the ways toxic masculinity hurt autistic people.

On this week's episode of Shifting The Narrative On Everything Autism, Torrin and Stacy were joined by autistic advocate and podcaster, Toni Borneo. Toni was diagnosed late, (at 40, hence the name of her podcast Autistic at 40). She went through a lot: childhood trauma, heavy masking, autistic burnout, and more. Like many undiagnosed autistic people, she was forced to rely on her academic gifts and keen eye in order to power through a total lack of supports. Now, she podcasts about her experiences, and is currently writing a memoir on the same topic. This was a great episode, which left me speechless at times.
