Do not sit and wait for manna from heaven to drop onto your laps. Besides handing all your affairs to Allah, do not daydream. Seize any opportunity that comes your way and better your life. Develop a strong work ethic. A person should be able to earn a living and provide for one´s family than relying on other people´s charity. Apart from achieving personal goals, your self-esteem shoots to the roof.

Whatever situation you encounter, never give up. Life will not be easy, especially for those who believe in Allah. Keep the faith, trust Allah to handle all affairs for you, focus on your plans, keep working hard on them and be convinced that things will get better than your current situation. You will be tested. You will face ridicule from friends and sometimes family and be called names. But as the Quran says: And be patient with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way" (Quran 73:10). Keep trying again until you succeed.

As Muslims, Islam is our identity and way of life; we adhere to the tenets of Islam as we uphold and protect our identity in all aspects of our lives. All dedicated and devoted Muslims know that Islam is the most misunderstood religion. The wave of Islamophobia sweeping across the West and fanned by the media is disheartening. In this case, how do we promote this beautiful Islamic faith through our identities? Identity, which matters to all of us, is utilised as a weapon.

Muslim women are the companion of Muslim men but not equal to them. They are marriage partners, to be precise. Women are assigned higher ranks with importance in Islam, and Quran 4 Surat Al Nisa ( which translates as The Women) emphasises the worthiness of women in Islam. Contrary to some misconceptions about the status and roles of women in Islam, they enjoy lots of freedom.

Be an inspiration to someone. You end up feeling proud and satisfied, so be zealous in helping others in any way possible. It leads you to accomplish a lot in life. Go ahead and make yourself meaningful to others. Utilise your strengths and never let your flaws be your weakness. You need not be worth millions to be influential to others. Everyone has the right to free expression and safety wherever a person finds him or herself. Be it in a workplace, a group of like-minded people or a personal relationship. People have the right to be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. The most irritating is when the bully is a person of authority.

Your lack of taking a break is the root cause of many ailments. Never let your satisfying and appreciative job damage your life. Do you want your profession to identify you or vice versa? Some people entrench themselves in working to escape other social issues. Find a way to deal with these underlying issues by seeking professional help to avoid getting addicted to working. You may earn money but at the expense of your health. So, work accordingly but never overwork. Never let your tie to materialism pushes you into workaholism.

Pause to rejuvenate. Life is more precious than money. Slow down, take a short break, go for an excursion, make a retreat, a short holiday abroad, spend valuable time with family or have a quiet time to rethink and rejuvenate. The fact that everybody needs a sound and secure life without financial difficulties; does not mean getting addicted to working. It does not always have to be work, work, work. Allah designed the body to function better in a balanced work-life lifestyle. The mind, body and soul need rest too. Take time off to enjoy your hard-earned money.
The lesson in this true story is that whatever situation you encounter, never give up. Life will not be easy, especially for those who believe in Allah. Keep the faith, trust Allah to handle all affairs for you, focus on your plans, keep working hard on them and be convinced that things will get better. It is such a disappointment; when people give up on their dreams, goals and aspirations so easily. Imagine that life is so perfect; that everything runs smoothly without any challenges and hurdles. Do not you think life will be tedious? Setbacks in your life are supposed to make you assess, rethink and adjust whatever situation you encounter, not to make you shudder and give up.
Your little but extraordinary contribution to people´s lives creates an ultimate fulfilment for you. You end up feeling proud and satisfied, so be zealous in helping others in any way possible.
Some people are born with a golden spoon in their mouths. They have all the luck as they are spoon-fed by helicopter parents all their lives. Others, on the contrary, have to struggle for everything to get going. They get accustomed to passing through tough times. My reminder to these people is that no life´s condition is permanent. When the going gets tough, you find yourself in a rut of extreme difficulties; please remind yourself that all is not lost yet. All things happen for a reason. Hand all your affairs to Allah and pray for guidance on what to do next.
