The L.I.F.E podcast exists to inspire, challenge, motivate and persuade those who may listen to it. In our world, we need truth. This podcast seeks to share their truth in love in grace. The discussions held will address faith, family, life, truth, and relationships. Our hope is that Christ is exalted and seen as the only answer to the world's deepest issues. Let's talk about LIFE.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once stated, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." In our present culture, no issue is more pressing than human sexuality. More specifically, same-sex marriage and transgenderism have become the center of heated battles on Capital Hill.
But, even if men, women, children, politicians, and governments are confused about this topic, God is not. His enduring Word speaks loud and clear on human sexuality and has not stuttered.
For a long time, Christians have held a traditional, biblical, and conservative view on marriage, one that is heterosexual and reflects God's original design for male and female companionship.
"Many conservative Christian denominations hold the traditional view that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, based on scriptural interpretations. They often view same-sex relationships as incompatible with biblical teachings, citing passages such as Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26-27. They may see same-sex marriage as a departure from God's design for human relationships and hold that marriage is an institution created by God to be between opposite-sex partners (ChatGPT)."
But, some Christians are starting to change their stances on same-sex marriage. Some are finding a middle ground and others are compromising for a more progressive view.
As we will hear in this episode, a contrast between a pastor who showed courage in the face of worldly skepticism and a pastor who caved to the world's pressure.

A philosopher by the name of Viktor Frankl, once said, "When a person can't find a deep sense of meaning, they distract themselves with pleasure." That statement resonates deeply in our current culture. With the decline of communal and family values, morals and a deep sense of community has been eradicated from our society. Beyond that, Carl Trueman, a religious theologian, once coined the phrase, "expressive individualism", which means an absurd, obsessive, and narcissistic approach to life, in which one comes to think that the world revolves around them. This is a problematic approach to life because no one exists by themselves nor exists for themselves. The Christian approach believes that life is best lived when we "Glorify God and enjoy Him forevermore." Finding life in Christ gives us our true purpose. In this episode, we unpack what it means to find your purpose and use three real-life people to help us along the way. We hope you enjoy it!
In this episode, Dez chats with his good friend Marco Sherman and discusses the dangers of following your heart. The central theme of this episode centers around a well-known axiom, "At the heart of every matter is a matter of the heart." Dez and Marco discuss the fallacy of the argument that following your heart is the best thing you could do, and counteract that way of thinking with a biblical approach warning people not to follow their heart, but to follow Christ.
In this episode, Dez discusses the reality of a new form of cultural Christianity that emphasizes "coolness" rather than Christlikeness; one that trades holiness for fun and crosses for Christian T-Shirts. We discuss the realities of Christianity not being cool at all, but it being worth the cost of following Christ and living for His glory. In this episode, I bring along a dear friend who loves video games and all things media. He has his own startup production company and works in the world of computer science. We talk about the negative effects of gaming and how it has become an addiction to many young boys and men. We discuss how society has changed and played a pivotal role in the reconstruction of adolescents. We also discuss how video games affect young boys physically, socially, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Lastly, we offer help to concerned parents and some tips to steer their young boys to manhood.
Should men seek to find their purpose, or should their purpose find them? Does a man go looking for an inheritance, or is it given? Should a man look for a blessing, or should a blessing be given to him? Dez and Dave tackle those questions in this episode and try to point the readers to the One who gives purpose. Marvin Gaye once asked the million dollar question in one of his transcendent songs, "What's going on?" Well, as Christian, that same question can be asked regarding our growth as followers of Christ. Why do we stop growing in our walk with Christ? Why do we become stagnant in our walk with God? In this episode, we talk and think through the implications of our immaturity in our walk with the Lord and seek the Bible to help us figure out what's happening on our end that could be the problem.
What is the measure of a man? Is it how much money he has and how many women he's been with? Is it how well he does in physical sports? In this episode, Dez and Dave discuss what it means to be a man biblically with the help of some older, wiser saints who have gone before them in the journey of biblical mahood. As we pick up another discussion about the youth of today, I asked one of my good friends to help me think through how we can seek to understand the obstacles young people have to face, how their challenges have changed over the years, and what hope can parents find when it comes to raising godly. loving and selfless children, especially teenagers. Grief has a way of bringing clarity to our outlooks on life. Grief often causes us to ask ourselves questions that we never do in our normal day-to-day. It causes us to be more cognizant of what life is really about and how do we fit in it. Who you are grieving also plays a big role in our feelings and emotions. When grieving a loved one or friend, we often feel the emptiness and futility of life. But, here at L.I.F.E., we try to filter our emotions, thoughts, and desires, through God's word. He helps us deal with our mortal thoughts and gives us hope in the midst of such grief. We believe that God is faithful and comforts our hearts and walks through the pain with us. He quiets the sea of our emotions while taking us by the hand, in faith, and calms the storms. I hope you enjoy this episode and that it helps you through any tough times you are going through.
