You have accepted Jesus as your Lord, now what?
As men of Christ we are called to live to a higher standard which God has given us through His word, the Bible.
The Mission: Teach men of God how to live in this world while honoring and glorifying God.
The Vision: All men will use their skills and abilities to honor and glorify God as living sacrifices.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies bas a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:1-2)
What if the reason you're struggling to hear God isn't because He's silent—but because you're still hiding? In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, we talk about something many Christian men wrestle with: wanting direction from God while struggling to have an honest conversation with Him. For years, I thought I needed to clean myself up before coming to God. Clean up my thoughts. Choose the right words. Control my emotions. Say the "right" prayer. But God doesn't need the polished version of you. He wants the real you. The frustrated you. The angry you. The confused you. The hurting you. The man who doesn't understand what God is doing but is willing to show up and tell Him the truth. God already knows what's happening in your heart. The question is whether you're willing to stop hiding and bring it to Him. Because surrender requires trust—and trust requires honest communication. In this episode, we talk about: Why men struggle to hear God while avoiding honest conversations with Him The lie that we need to "clean ourselves up" before approaching God What changed when I stopped giving God the polished version of myself Why frustration, anger, and confusion can be brought honestly before God The connection between communication, trust, and surrender Why transformation begins when we stop hiding You don't have to impress God with your prayers. Speak honestly. Be real. Be raw. Tell Him where you actually are. Then trust Him with what you've been carrying. "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." — Psalm 37:5
In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, I share a struggle I've wrestled with for a long time: not knowing how to tell my testimony. For years, I believed God was working in my life, but I couldn't clearly explain what He was doing. It wasn't until someone asked me a simple question—"What have you seen God do in your life?"—that I finally began to see my story of surrender unfold. I also share a conversation I had with a young man while working security at our county fair. As he wrestled with fear and uncertainty about asking a girl out, I was reminded that faith isn't about controlling the outcome—it's about surrendering the outcome to God and choosing obedience anyway. Too often, we mistake waiting on God for doing nothing. But biblical faith isn't passive. Faith moves. Faith obeys. Faith acts. Your testimony isn't just found in what God has already done—it's written every time you choose to trust Him enough to take the next faithful step. In this episode, I challenge you to ask yourself: What has God done in your life? Am I acting on my faith, or simply believing? Am I living by faith... or by fear? Because when we act in faith, God uses our story to point others to Jesus. And someone may be waiting to hear the testimony only you can tell.
In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, I share a personal battle I had this morning—questioning what God is doing in my life and wondering why it can feel like the same struggles keep repeating. While reading Psalm 37:1-8, verse 5 stopped me: "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." Those words forced me to ask a difficult question: Am I truly committed to trusting God, or am I just saying I trust Him? There is a difference between declaring commitment and living committed. I've struggled with this personally— saying I was committed to God, growth, discipline, and change, but my actions didn't always reflect my words. In this episode, we explore what it means to truly surrender our plans, trust God in the waiting, and commit our ways to Him even when we don't understand the process. The question I challenge every listener with is: What are you committed to—and does your life prove it? Because commitment isn't revealed by what we say when things are easy. Commitment is revealed by what we do when faith requires us to trust God before we see the outcome. "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." — Psalm 37:5
Your need to control the outcome may be the very thing keeping you from the outcome God intends for you. In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, Nilan Lansing shares how surrender — not striving — is the path to the life you truly desire. Through personal stories about dating, marriage, career transitions, and spiritual growth, Nilan reveals how letting go of control opened doors he could never have forced on his own. From meeting his wife after surrendering his plans, to unexpected career opportunities that came only after releasing his grip, this episode is a reminder that God's timing, purpose, and plan are always better than ours. You'll hear how surrender brings freedom, peace, and joy, and how Psalm 28:7 anchors the truth that "when my heart trusts in Him, I am helped." If you're facing a challenge, this episode will encourage you to use it as an opportunity to trust God more deeply and allow Him to shape the outcome. For men seeking accountability, brotherhood, and spiritual growth, Nilan also shares how the Strong Disciples Brotherhood is helping men rebuild their lives on the foundation of Christ. This past week was a challenging week for me. It seemed as though I couldn't get anything right. I was frustrated, angry, exhausted, and felt helpless at times. Looking back I realized that the challenges I was facing weren't the real challenges. I know every day will have its challenges and troubles. The real challenge was because I forgot about the battle you and I are facing. The enemy is always trying to use every worldly challenge to steal, kill and destroy your joy and your life. This was my week. And, he almost won. But he didn't. He won't claim victory over you either if you can remember this. The problem isn't your wife, kids, parents, friends, or your job, income, retirement or investments. The enemy is just trying to trick you into believing they are the problem. The problem is your focus. Fix your eyes on Jesus. This may not make it easier right away but it will make it better. And you will find victory in Him!
You know the feeling. An unsettling feeling in your heart, the faint whisper, calling you out. "You were made for more." It's not a condemning feeling or voice. It's convicting. It's God calling you into your purpose. Some will bury it with sports, porn, alcohol, drugs or a combination of all them. Some will simple learn to ignore and hide from it. These only lead to shame, guilt, depression and a slow agonizing death of your soul. IT'S TIME TO WAKE AND LISTEN!!! You know you were made for more, something greater than working for a paycheck and accumulating stuff. You have a purpose. Every trial and tribulation has been another call for you to WAKE UP and ANSWER THE CALL! Only then will you expereince your life's purpose. Only then will you find peace, joy and abundance. Only then will you be walking by faith with God. Men, it's time! You have been living from a spirit of fear, doubt and shame. Why? This is not the Holy Spirit which God has given you. God gave you a spirit of Power, Love and Self Control. Do you feel your life anything but powerful, filled with love and you have any self control? This isn't the life you want. This isn't the life God wants for you. It's time to experience life of power and abundance through God's spirit! If you are struggling in your faith reach out to Nilan on Instagram at Surrendered Strength counsel or coaching.
You have been called. You have already accepted the initial call to surrender. Why are you scared to take the next step. You know God is calling you into something else, something more. But you are too busy running, hiding and suppressing the call. I lived this miserable life for years. Until I realized the truth. I was hiding, running and suppressing. I told myself and others I was a Christian. I even thought I was doing what I was "supposed" to do. But I was just doing what others wanted me to do instead of answering God's call. God has been opening me up and showing me some truth about how I have been living. It's not pretty. I have been shown some pretty dark truths. Recently, I have been realizing I have spent most of my Christian life living in fear. Are you living in fear also? The Bible tells us to live by faith. I told myself I was living by faith. It was a lie! I wanted to believe it but deep down I knew the truth. Fear was winning the battle. Learn how the Holy Spirit finally broke through to me in this episode. Are you serving at your home but feeling like your wife and kids aren't following you? As men who are called to serve and lead this can be frustrated because you feel as though you are doing all the right things. You work to provide. You work to protect. You help out around your home; with kids, dishes, laundry, etc. But it never seems enough. You have become a servant not a leader. You are called to be a servant leader but you have neglected the leader role and have simply become a servant. No, one follows servants. Servant Leaders, yes! You must become a leader again.

Part 2: What to do when you are in the fire! Christianity is not a walk in the park and it's certainly not sunshine and rainbows. We are called to a higher standard of living. You can read the Bible over and over. No matter how many times you read it different books and verses will convict you at different points in your life. Are temptations only experienced by Christians? Of course not! We all experience temptations whether we are a Christian, Muslim, Atheist, etc. The more important question, "How do we deal with temptations?" As Christians we will experience different temptations, but all temptations are derived from the same concepts. Do something evil or don't do something right and good. Again, as Christians, we have different ways of dealing with temptations and overcoming temptations from our past. Listen to learn how you can overcome your temptations!
There are a lot of questions to be answered when you give your life to Jesus. Let's start from the beginning in today's episode of the edition of "I Surrendered... Now What?" You believe Jesus is your Lord and Savior in your heart. You confess Jesus is your Lord and Savior with your mouth. You repent and are baptized. What Just happened? A lot! But it's all good happenings! Listen to today's episode to learn what just happened to you and how you are different in Jesus!
Often we can find ourselves asking, "What is God doing in my life?" It's a fair question but it's not the right question. Mainly because God is doing more than we will ever comprehend in our life. I think there is a better question we should be asking when we are looking for direction and seeking God. Listen to hear what that question is and for an update on the future of the podcast!
What is the purpose of random acts of kindness? Better question, "What is YOUR reason for doing random acts of kindness?" Are you trying to earn your way into heaven? Are you trying to get people to like you? Are you trying to fill a whole in your heart? Acts of Kindness or Good deeds are good and important but only if you are doing them with the right purpose. Good deeds won't get you into heaven, won't get people to like you or fill that hole in your heart. Only Jesus can get you into heaven and fill the hole. And, who cares if people like you! So, why acts of kindness or good deeds? Because you were made for them! You were made to honor and glorify God and share the Gospel through them! You don't have to stop; just know why you're doing them!
Is our society a justice focused society or a grace-based society? We know when there is injustice to certain persons, we hear the cry for justice from all the protesters and rioters. But have we ever stopped to ask, "If justice was given to me, what would my sentence be?" We are quick to throw stones but don't want any stones thrown at us. If you really look at our "justice" system, there is more grace than justice. However, there is a missing component to the grace offered in our society. Jesus.

Often, we don't realize how much of an impact someone, or something has on our lives until we don't our daily dose. This could be a positive or a negative impact. Sometimes we need to remove things for a short time to see if it's something we need to give up or not. A live with/without Jesus has a similar effect. We typically won't see the how good life is with Jesus until we've stopped focusing on Jesus.

Our society claims to have a mental illness crisis. I disagree. We have a Spiritual illness crisis. More than an illness it is a full out war which isn't being recognized as it should be recognized. Healing our youth, our families, our communities and our nation can only happen through Jesus.

There is a way we are to live as men. Every man should have these skills: Strong, providers, protectors, hunters, fixers, and the list goes on and on. This is an extra episode I wanted to share to celebrate the rising of Christ! I discuss: -The point of the cross -What Jesus' death teaches us -How we can apply the mindset, attitude and passion of Jesus to our lives Let us imitate the love Jesus showed us through his life and death.

There are many factors of success in all areas of life. I have spoken of many of them discipline, endurance, and love. There is one that I would say foreshadows these factors that must happen if the others are going to happen... Consistency. Consistency as a child of God, as a Father, as a Husband, etc. We have consistently show up or there is no opportunity to be disciplined, have endurance or even to spread love.
This world becomes more chaotic each day. We don't have to be bound by the chaos and anxieties of this world. God offers us freedom, joy, peace and much more! But there is a requirement from you... Discipline.
It's a week... It's been a week of God moving in my life. Has God been moving in your life? Yes, he has! There are ways we can be healthier. In all three areas of our lives, physically, mentally and spiritually. Today I discuss ways that we can simply improve our health in all three areas from a more general aspect. And, how we can combat emotions and spiritual attacks that try to keep up from growing in a way that honors and glorifies God.
As Christians love is an important part of how we are taught to live. Love God, Love Others. Yet, love only gets us in the door. Jesus loved us and died for us on the cross which got us into the kingdom and family of God. However, becoming part of the family is just the beginning. As a member of the family, we are called to become an active member. We are called to do more than just show up at the "reunions" every Sunday. But what more could there be? Listen to hear what comes next.
The Bible offers us numerous promises. It also offers us tactics and tools to help us navigate and grow in this life. In today's episode I explain 3 of the tactics we can use to learn anything and improve our knowledge and wisdom.
Change can be scary and challenging. However, it is a must to live a life you have dreamed about living. Here are three mind shifts to help you live in a new way and improve your life in 2023.
You were made a new creation, but have you allowed yourself to truly change and live as a new creation? In order to live a new creation, we must adjust how we live. Listen to hear 3 ways I improved my life and how you can too!!
Another year has come and gone. What did you experience in 2022? What do you want to experience in 2023? More importantly, what does Jesus want you to experience in 2023?
Jesus was strong (physically, mentally and spiritually, loving, kind, patient among many other character traits. However, those don't really happen if Jesus wasn't discipline and able to discipline himself. Jesus knew his mission and his purpose and stuck to the instructions of His Father. If it wasn't for that character trait, we would have salvation in His name.
Continuing our discussion on discipline. This week in Proverbs 12:1 we learn what discipline can do for us and what the opposite looks like... It's not pretty. Check this week's episode to hear the details.
Throughout the Bible God calls us to be disciplined. Why? Because God wants us to have life in abundance! However, if we are not disciplined, we will not have life or abundance. This is the beginning of a series on Discipline and how it impacts every area of our lives.
Christmas is a season of joy, peace, giving and... renewal? Most people think of the new year as a time to start over and renew themselves. However, the renewal process starts with the birth of Christ Jesus. This isn't just the birth of Christ but the birth of our King, our Savior and our salvation. This should be the beginning of our own renewal as we move forward toward living a transformed life.
Often we may feel God is distant in our lives. However, God is continually working. There are many ways to see how God is working in your life. I would like to offer three ways to create awareness of God's work in your life. 1. Your Prayers 2. Your Attitude 3. Your Relationships Listen to learn how to create awareness of God in your life.
The body positive movement sounds great, but it is actually cover up for people who are trying to hide their weaknesses and insecurities. Self-love isn't accepting yourself. That's not love at all. Love is an action. You can sit on the couch all day telling yourself how much you love yourself. At the end of the day, you know you are just lying because if you truly loved yourself, you would improve yourself. Physically, Mentally and Spiritually.
We know of God. We know God is "around." But how close is God? In Psalm 46:1 we learn that God is "a very present help." God isn't distant. He is with us in times of trouble and celebration, but do we remember him in those times?
This job or that job? This way or that way? We are left with many decisions in life, which can make life challenging. Then, we must make every decision align with God's will... What is God's will??? Let's give ourselves a little breathing room when it comes to decisions and honoring God's will.
One night in the middle of a snowstorm I asked God to lead me, minutes later I was in the ditch with a totaled car. As men of God, we are called to allow God to lead us. Sometimes the places we are led end up being the opposite of where we wanted to go. However, we can trust God to lead us to victory no matter what comes when we live for God.
Is suffering punishment for sin? Job's friends would argue this is true, however, this is not the case. There are many righteous people who suffer while many sinners prosper. Why is this so? Why one suffers while others prosper is only knowledge God knowns, but suffering doesn't have to be in vain. We can use suffering to grow in our faith and develop our spiritual, mental and physical strength.
There is much wisdom and understanding in God's word. God's wisdom is so vast we can learn for a lifetime and still not fully comprehend it all. But there is a way for us to continue to gain wisdom and understanding throughout our entire life. Listen to learn how to gain consistent wisdom!
We live in a time when we try to define who we are through things in this world. Trying to define ourselves through this world will only cause chaos in our lives and in our world. Can you feel the chaos??? We can only be defined by the Creator, our God.
After last week's episode I felt as though I may have misled you. This week I follow up on intentions AND action as you begin to make changes to imitate Christ Jesus.
In our fast paced, mixed-up society it's easy to get lost in constant need to keep moving. This typically ends in us doing something or lots of things we don't really care to do. Even worse we find ourselves in situations, relationships and careers we feel are hopeless death traps. Life doesn't have to be this way. With some intentionality we can begin to stop endless need to do more and start doing things that add value to our lives and to those in our care. P.S. God's entire plan has been done out of intentionality. If he is doing it, we should be taking note as well.
As Christians we are called to imitate Jesus, live as he lived. Though we live in different times we can still accomplish this through some intentional action and discipline. In this Episode I discuss 3 levels of how we can model our lives after Jesus and grow through this process.
The question at hand is an interesting one but it sheds light on another issue. The separation of body, mind and spirit. Typically, we talk of these in separate "states", but the reality is they are deeply woven together. When one is impacted the others impacted as well.
As I continue to read the Bible I experience new lessons as I go through different seasons. In this episode I share some of the lessons from Job chapter's 1-2. 1. Blessing comes after fear God. 2. Satan test us, God trusts us. 3. Blessed in what is received and removed. Enjoy and be sure to rate and leave a review!
The seasons are always changing in our lives which means we must constantly adapt out schedules. This can be seamless if we are able to manage our schedules and find consistencies with in them. However, live seems to find a way to create chaos whether it is changing jobs, school beginning or ending or simply the literal changing in the our seasons. No matter what life throws are way we must maintain our time with God in the Bible and in prayer to remained focused on honoring and glorifying Him.
As I have been reading the Book of Nehemiah I have considered how we are on the path to success when we go down a path with God. Our definition of success may change, and probably should, to a certain degree as we focus on God's will for our lives, but we should still be thinking success. In this episode I discuss 3 ways we can find success through the life of Nehemiah.
Often, we stuck in life whether it is in our work, our relationships or our mission. Then, we get a little motivation to give us energy but then we are right back to being stuck. Often, we feel like we have to do this or that when we really just need to let God do what He has promised He will do.
Often, I believe Christians get caught up in serving people in an effort to serve God. Yes, there can be correlation but most of the time we end up doing a bunch of stuff that God might not even being calling us to do. Service and serving are good but must be done with God's hand in them or we are just doing good deeds which are just good deeds.
A seed was planted 6+ years ago. Back then I tried to toss it out, but God planted that seed, nurtured that seed and allow that seed to grow. Today that seed has budded into a new career for me. A new opportunity to serve and honor God.

There is no such thing as YOLO. You live once on this earth then there is eternity. You will have eternity to think about your choices, specifically, if you chose Jesus as your Savior. As Christians this is great news, however, this is where most of us stop being Christian. We hold tight to this news. We hold tight to our Savior Jesus. When we should be spreading the news and sharing the gospels with everyone! How will others get to Heaven if they haven't accepted Jesus as their Savior? They wont.
I remember as a senior in high school having to decide what I wanted to do with the rest of my life as a career... Then, after I gave my life to Christ the question came back to me. Was the job I was doing really what I wanted to do? Was it what God was calling me to do? I explore these questions and give you tips to improve your career situation.
