That's funny! Sometimes it's both scary and interesting to think about what I would do to save my soul if there was no music.
A bad day, a tiring day of work, in a city of no nature and no friends...

I always told my friends I have three things to live on, on this solo journey of figuring life out and building one with freedom and simple happiness, those come from nature, a dog, and music

I was invited to join a female open mic night, here in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) - where people start to know me as Little Beatle as well. It's quite a cool feeling, comforting me from exhausting days working extra time to afford a big chaotic city
A friend said: Saigon gives you oppotunities, and Saigon can swallow you easily as well
There is no such thing called tolerance here for lazy people. Everyone is in a rush everyday to study and work to afford life. It's good for stimulation though. It's good to "punish" myself a bit, and satisfy some comfort, to survive, before to build something bigger..

Anyway, Saigon loves The Beatles! Just like Da Nang
Everybody does!
Without these moments of sharing music and connecting with other human in a vulnerable way, I'm not sure what to save these lost souls in this city of no nature
Parks are packed, outdoors coffee shops are packed, riverside coffee shops/restaurants are packed... people do seek nature and music everywhere!

That was a lovely pleasure to get filmed a bit of my singing. How lovely this song is. I got people coming up saying: I'm in my 70s and never heard anyone playing this song live in my life!
Put a big smile on my face
And just like that, life goes on! :)

Hope you it! She loves youuuuu yeah yeah yeah!! haha

Little Beatle

She loves you | The Beatles Lyrics:

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

You think you've lost your love
Well, I saw her yesterday
It's you she's thinkin' of
And she told me what to say
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad

She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind
But now she says she knows
You're not the hurtin' kind
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad, ooh

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad

You know it's up to you
I think it's only fair
Pride can hurt you, too
Apologize to her
Because she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad, ooh

She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
With a love like that
You know you should be glad
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Happy weekend Hive friends!

Here’s a song that I’ve been listening to and playing a lot lately: Riptide by Vance Joy

The original version was by a Ukulele, but I guess it sounds fun on the guitar.

It’s been awhile since I posted the last song. Life gets caught up with so much things. But you do know that some passion will never fade away. Just like how you have still been sharing your cool travel experience here, posting your music, poems, photos, bringing joy to Hive community, right?

It's been a rainy winter here in Da Nang, Vietnam. A lot going on. I seriously had an eyes checkup because I'm not feeling very good with my eyes lately. That's why I try to reduce my screen time as much as possible, thinking how it's like to work online and entertain online at the same time without getting my eyes hurt. Anyway, I can't stop creating content, it's my life haha. So, I'm taking medicine and using methods to improve my eyes and start doing more online content again.

Hope you all doing well in the world. If you work on the computer a lot, try to get some early morning in the morning, it helps yours eyes a lot. Spend at least 30 mins to 1 hour after you wake up in the sunshine, before checking your phone looking at the screen, you'll sleep better and have better eyes as well. Cheers! x

Little Beatle ♫

Riptide - Vance Joy

Verse 1:
I was scared of dentists and the dark
I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations
Oh, all my friends are turning green
You're the magician's assistant in their dream
Ah-ooh-ooh-ooh, ah-ahh-ah-ah
And they come unstuck

Chorus:
Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left-hand man
I love you when you're singing that song
And I got a lump in my throat
'Cause you're gonna sing the words wrong

Verse 2:
There's this movie that I think you'll like
This guy decides to quit his job and heads to New York City
This cowboy's running from himself
And she's been living on the highest shelf
Ah-ooh-ooh-ooh, ah-ahh-oh
And they come unstuck

Chorus:
Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left-hand man
I love you when you're singing that song
And I got a lump in my throat
'Cause you're gonna sing the words wrong

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can't have it, I can't have it any other way
I swear she's destined for the screen
Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen, oh

Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left-hand man
I love you when you're singing that song
And I got a lump in my throat
'Cause you're gonna sing the words wrong

"How can you miss someone you've never met?

'Cause I need you now, but I don't know you yet"

***Hi Friends, how is it going your way today?

November is passing by and I'm amazed by how fast this year is going!***

2022 is A LOT, and also NOTHING. Any of you feel this way? Strange right?

I think life is a mistery. Especially when it comes to connection among us human.

Last month a found a song and it got me immediately. It sounds like a magic between two humans that never met but there is a past-life connection that has been there the whole time.

In this chaotic world, there are moments you might just feel like missing someone who have never met, needing someone you have never seen. The feeling is just there and unexplainable.

After I played this song today, I wrote down a few notes about this thought. I do believe that there is a "soul" thing happening out there in this world. Connection that we can't explain. Love that we can't control. So maybe sometimes just let it be mysterious and see what the universe gonna bring us!

**"Life is a mistery

Sometimes, you're already full of life and not looking for love or wanting anything

But then you experience the kind of love you never had before that makes you now want EVERYTHING, at the same time it teaches you to liberate it for NOTHING in return

You wonder why, how, what kind of love this is?

But life is a mistery

Love is unexplainable

Love is uncontrollable

Love is unconditional

Love is powerless

But love is passion, obsession

And love is probably not about someone you can live with but about someone you can't live without

Other pieces of life can be changed, but a missing piece of a soul once already found can not be replaced by any of others

No matter how long it takes and how far it goes

Can never be replaced

to infinity

to eternity..."**

Little Beatle ♫

IDK you yet | Alexander 23 | Lyrics:

How can you miss someone you've never met?

'Cause I need you now, but I don't know you yet

But can you find me soon because I'm in my head?

Yeah, I need you now, but I don't know you yet

'Cause lately it's been hard

They're sellin' me for parts

And I don't wanna be modern art

But I only got half a heart to give to you

How can you miss someone you've never seen?

Oh, tell me, are your eyes brown, blue, or green?

And do you like it with sugar and cream?

Or do you take it straight, oh, just like me?

Happy Monday Hive family!

It's been a while and I finally settled down in a new home in Da Nang

Being back here is like coming "home"

And building a home for myself is like waiting for the kind of love where the person makes me feel like coming home too...

This is my first video filmed in the new home. I was so picky to choose the place, but it ended up paying off my patience haha

On my first day back here, I wrote this for myself. I think you can relate at some point if you are there building a single independent life and keeping your heart open to love as well (though loving can hurt sometimes haha)

"Moving away from family is expensive

Being single and independent is expensive

Living alone is expensive

Having a pet is expensive

"Operating" a whole family is expensive and extremely hard

But that's where you officially create something for yourself, actively select, collect, create, put together what you specifically love, and make yourself truly happy

That home is you, that home represents who you are

To build a home - a true home where you can rest your body and your mind is like patiently waiting to meet the kind of love where your heart and soul feel like coming home too

It doesn't happen overnight no matter how incredible the spark is in the beginning

It needs constant work to build a foundation. We can't rush something that we want to last forever...

No need fancy, when it comes to something specific, something different from what the crowd wants, it's gonna be expensive, it's hard to find, it's hard to keep.

Also, you're gonna cry in that home alone, laugh in that home alone, grow up in that home alone. That home carries your love, your tears, your memories, your energy, and your heart. Who feels it gonna feel deep...

We all have shit that we're going through. You make it, you lose it, then you build another one, a better one, and you gonna work harder to keep it this time

The progress is exciting and uncomfortable at the same time, but the experience and reward for this journey are priceless".

Little Beatle ♫

Photograph - Ed Sheeran lyrics:

Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimes

But it's the only thing that I know

When it gets hard, you know it can get hard sometimes

It is the only thing makes us feel alive

We keep this love in a photograph

We made these memories for ourselves

Where our eyes are never closing

Hearts are never broken

And time's forever frozen, still

So you can keep me

Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans

Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet

You won't ever be alone, wait for me to come home

Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul

And it's the only thing that I know, know

I swear it will get easier

Remember that with every piece of ya

Hmm, and it's the only thing we take with us when we die

Hmm, we keep this love in a photograph

We made these memories for ourselves

Where our eyes are never closing

Hearts were never broken

And time's forever frozen, still

So you can keep me

Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans

Holding me closer 'til our eyes meet

You won't ever be alone

And if you hurt me

That's okay, baby, only words bleed

Inside these pages, you just hold me

And I won't ever let you go

Wait for me to come home

Wait for me to come home

Wait for me to come home

Wait for me to come home

Oh, you can fit me

Inside the necklace you got when you were sixteen

Next to your heartbeat where I should be

Keep it deep within your soul

And if you hurt me

Well, that's okay, baby, only words bleed

Inside these pages, you just hold me

And I won't ever let you go

When I'm away, I will remember how you kissed me

Under the lamppost back on Sixth street

Hearing you whisper through the phone

"Wait for me to come home"

Happy Monday Hive family!

I finally moved back to Da Nang, where I found my true home. The true home for my body, my heart, and my soul. Finally settled down in a new home. Things are being put back into place (I wouldn't say "falling back into place" because it obviously didn't happen naturally. It took so much effort and tears to get to this point).

After all, I'm so happy to be back here again. This is the first video filmed in my new place, which is comfy and cozy. The day I moved in here, I realized how precious it is to build a home for ourselves. Living this single life and trying to be independent as much as possible, it's hard, it's lonely sometimes, but the reward is priceless.

Love hurts, love is powerless. If love is something you can explain and control, then it wouldn't be love.

A big lesson I learned this year is to love is like building a home, a safe place to rest your body, your mind, your soul, and your heart. It's easy to get tempted or attracted by something cool, but to have it, to keep it, to grow it, it takes time, it takes constant work, and it needs a foundation...

Ahhh, long short... anyway, I believe in "home". Home is a place, home can be a person too. Home is somewhere I can feel your heartbeat and your breathing next to me in your peaceful sleep with all your guard down. You'll eventually come home at the end of the book. Until we meet again, love will fill the distance between us ...

Happy Monday Hive friends!

It’s my 1st birthday on Hive! How lovely Hive sent me a birthday cake haha. My actual birthday was last month and I didn’t even get a cake. Hive is so sweet!

As I’m still learning and waiting to take a new online job so I can move back to Da Nang as soon as I can, I’m still sticking around the countryside with my parents for a while. There are lots of mosquitos around here and it’s pretty restless, but I’m getting used to it. My favorite corner is the little garden (with lots of mosquitos as well lol) – but I can sit there and feel like I breathe differently! Nature really brings some magic!

Today’s song is the theme song of a famous Vietnamese movie. I thought of it when I sat out there, my head was buzzing but the little moments of feeling the green grass around me, the wind, and the flowers… just made me feel emotional and at ease.

1st on Hive – what do I love most about it here?

  1. A big supportive community

Nowhere have I been to support users as much as Hive – and the value/contribution you bring to the community is always recognized greatly and kindly 2. Connecting people with the same passion from everywhere in the world

Before I got here, I mostly played music live. Being here really extended my skills of recording, making videos, taking photos, and writing… - you learn skills, you improve your skills, you show your skills, you contribute, you get better, you get more recognized, you feel happier, you want to give more… That’s is the cycle that Hive gave me and I guess many of you too! 3. No mention of the money – when the Hive price drops, the consistency in writing and creating content here is really something I admire from others, and am also proud of myself. The joy, the commitment of creating something every day/regularly feels really satisfying and incredibly happy! 4. Updating the scene on the world in different aspects: travel, photography, lifestyle, hobbies, food, and so on 5. Learn about crypto – this is huge! I had no idea what crypto was before joined Hive haha

I can’t count enough how much I have learned from Hive and how many new cool things I have seen here, how much Hive pushed me to do more, get better at things, be a cooler Hive citizen, how many cool friends I have met, and some just became my big motivation – like trangbaby – a dedicated mem ber of HiveViet Nam.

Thank you @trangbaby for your support lately, and thank you Tim @jacuzzi for bringing me here (will see you soon in Da Nang again)

Thank you to all my friends here and the moments we have shared, let’s keep shining!

Little Beatle ♫

Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh/ I see yellow flowers on green grass

Lyrics:

I see lovely memories

I see how they visit me

And my soul is like a cloud

Slowly fading out...

I see the rainbow in the sky

Bringing colors down to play

Seems so close but way too far

Our youth is just like a cloud...

Way back to home no longer holds me back

There was my yesterday

Turn and you'll see when all the storms will pass

Yellow flower on the grass

Feeling calm like a summer breeze...

Tôi thấy lặng lẽ vương sau hè

Tôi thấy ngày ấy tìm đến đây

Tôi thấy thanh thản như mây trời

Dần dần cứ xa rời tôi

Tôi thấy hạnh phúc bên kia đồi

Tôi thấy bình yên nào ghé chơi

Cần lắm, gần lắm, sao vời vợi

Tuổi thanh xuân cũng như mây trời

Lối về quanh co chẳng níu bước chân tôi về

Có còn hôm qua ở đó

Hết ngày âu lo rồi mong mãi hôm nay về

Thấy hoa vàng ở trên cỏ xanh

Thấy yên bình giấc mơ trong lành...

Hive Open Mic 131!

It’s been a while since I got on the “show”. I enjoyed watching everyone showing up full of energy and dedication for Hive open mic instead. I feel like I’m getting a bit older so I sit back and hide sometimes haha

The open Mic topic this week is such a great one! I couldn’t imagine how the spotlight artist could think of this!

Hive is a big, special community where people from all over the world join in and contribute their hard-working values to all of us. The special thing is there is no other social media platform that connects everyone as amazingly as Hive!

This topic gonna be a pure chance for us to know more about one another, about our homeland/country. I can’t wait to see your songs and the stories you’ve got for everyone!

As you know, I’m from little Vietnam – I love to call it little because it makes Vietnam more special – little but incredible, right?

Before you come to Vietnam, you might have an idea that Vietnam is an agricultural country, we grow lots of rice. Some people think of Viet Nam war immediately. Some people think of food, floating markets in the Mekong delta… Ok ok ok, I gotta stop! Because this gonna turn my “tour guide – mode” on again (I miss my former job haha). So: If you really want to know about Vietnam – Come visit! Or some easy research can be done quickly. Google might be better than me at storytelling now. So… I better do my work here instead – show you the song!

Hello Viet Nam – You might have heard me play this song. You might have heard this song on some flight to Viet Nam. Here is some information about it.

The original name is the song is “Bonjour Vietnam”.

"Bonjour Vietnam" is a song composed by Marc Lavoine, co-written by Lavoine and Yvan Coriat, and recorded by Vietnamese-Belgian singer Quynh Anh. Lavoine said he was impressed by Quynh Anh's charm and talent as well as being touched by the feeling of a small girl who had never seen her homeland, so he wrote the song as a gift for her. The content of the song is about the longing of an overseas Vietnamese for the homeland. The song received favorable acclaim from Vietnamese communities, both at home and abroad as well as from the francophone community. Thúy Nga Productions featured the song in several shows for overseas Vietnamese all over the world. By 2008, due to its popularity, the song was translated into English by Guy Balbaert with the name "Hello Vietnam" (not to be confused with the song "Hello Vietnam" written by Tom T. Hall and recorded by American country music singer Johnnie Wright in 1965). In May 2008, Quynh Anh made a special appearance singing the song "Hello Vietnam" in Thúy Nga's Paris By Night 92 show. Later, Quynh Anh released the single "Hello Vietnam".

Hello Vietnam told such an amazing and heart-warming story about Quynh Anh and her dreams about Vietnam through typical imagines of a small agricultural country. This song had become too popular that it became a symbol of Vietnam Tourism. You’ll hear it anywhere here. And if you ever fall for Vietnam, this song gonna lead your way back to Vietnam again one day!

Enjoy, and Hello from Vietnam!

Little Beatle ♫

Hello Vietnam - Quynh Anh

Lyrics:

Tell me all about this name, that is difficult to say

It was given me the day I was born

Want to know about the stories of the empire of old

My eyes say more of me than what you dare to say

All I know of you is all the sights of war

A film by Coppola, the helicopter's roar

One day I'll touch your soil

One day I'll finally know your soul

One day I'll come to you

To say hello... Vietnam

Tell me all about my colour, my hair and my little feet

That have carried me every mile of the way

Want to see your house, your streets

Show me all I do not know

Wooden sampans, floatings markets, light of gold

All I know of you is the sights of war

A film by Coppola, the helicopter's roar

One day I'll touch your soil

One day I'll finally know your soul

One day I'll come to you

To say hello... Vietnam...

Happy Sunday Hivers!

Here is some sunshine for your sunday. My silly laugh as I woke up home alone, I grabbed the guitar and jumped into the bush in the small garden of my family.

And there, with the morning sunlight (with ants around my feet as well), I felt the wind blowing in my face, through my hair, I heard the birds singing out there in the trees...

I decided to play "Here comes the sun" by The Beatles - and just felt like my heart was blooming again...

Getting busier than ever, but music is the only thing that I had promised to myself that I will never stop playing or practicing. A lot of times it comes to me in such sudden moments. Singing a happy song can enlighten the rest of my day. Playing with the dogs, talking to them makes me feel silly and free.

Wandering around the countryside during this time is not what I expected at all. It was even very miserable in the first few weeks I got back home.

The medicine for my heart is to pick up random moments to keep doing my hobbies. The secret is to enjoy the green grass out there, the wind is still here and the wild birds are still with me, no matter where I am...

One day soon I'll fly away like those birds again. Now, I sit here and sing with them :)

Guess how many dogs we have haha

This is probably my only favorite corner here. Things are not very well-trimmed. But in the morning, I'll take a chair and put it out there under the sunlight while having my coffee. Life is sweet...

Here comes the sun - The Beatles lyrics:

Little darlin', the smile's returning to their faces

Little darlin', it seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun

Here comes the sun, and I say

It's alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little darlin', I feel that ice is slowly melting

Little darlin', it seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo

Here comes the sun, and I say

It's alright

A flower blooming in my heart - That was the exact feeling I had when I first heard "Wonderful World" by Sam Cooke performed live by a British musician friend l in Da Nang Viet Nam!

A cold winter evening in December 2020 became bright and sweet!

I told myself: I’m gonna play this song. Oh yes! I’m gonna do it!

That was how I knew Sam Cooke – The legend

That was how I know such soulful music exists

That was how I started to feel like I’m always in love with someone, in love with everything in my life regardless I’m a long-term single person haha

"Wonderful World" (occasionally referred to as "(What A) Wonderful World") is a song by American singer-songwriter Sam Cooke. Released on April 14, 1960. The song was mainly composed by songwriting team Lou Adler and Herb Alpert, but Cooke revised the lyrics to mention the subject of education more. Lou Adler and Herb Alpert composed the song with the theme that neither knowledge nor education can dictate feelings, but that love "could make the world a wonderful place." Adler did not take the song very seriously, but Cooke appeared to be taken with it. "He’d say, ‘What about that song, you know?’ And then he'd start on it again".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderful_World_(Sam_Cooke_song)

How special this song is to me?

I started playing and singing this since January 2021 – only a few days after I first heard it. It became my “hit-cover” in Da Nang - literally only my musician friend and I performed the song around. My friend had got so many signature songs himself, so this song was lost among his amazing tunes.

The lovely thing is whenever I came to his gigs, he always played this song for me, mentioning me in the crowd. But behind that scene, was me doing this song more “rock’n’roll” on other stages haha

I can say it became a song to spread infectious happiness to the audiences. There were nights I played Wonderful world with a band, and the crowd just danced to the song and sang along like they never felt that kind of joy before. I was always asked to play it all the time I came around. I played it too much. I loved it too much. I even forgot to learn new songs.

Later on I started to play The Beatles exploring the diversity of international music, Wonderful world is always a very special song of my life. I even started to pick up some British accent and started to switch from singing “I don’t know much” in American accent to British accent – subconsciously – making all my friends laugh.

I love how the song starts with “I don’t know much...” and the lyrics keep repeating “I don’t know much” until the end of the song. It’s so innocent the way it means to say “I don’t know, I don’t care, I don’t give a sht about anything in this world, but I do know my feeling for you and you’re everything I want and need”, right?

Oh my, this is such sweetest and cheesiest tune I ever play and I’m crazy in love with the way it is haha

My friends are so obsessed with me playing this song, and my mantra whenever someone asks me something that I don’t know the answer – or I want to pretend like I don’t know the answer, I’ll say: I don’t know much about history – or I’ll literally start singing the lyrics

What a wonderful world we live in to have this song “Wonderful world”. I hope you feel loved when you hear it just like I do!

The long & winding road

Lyrics:

Wonderful world – Sam Cooke

[Verse 1]

Don't know much about history

Don't know much biology

Don't know much about a science book

Don't know much about the French I took

[Chorus 1]

But I do know that I love you

And I know that if you love me, too

What a wonderful world this would be

[Verse 2]

Don't know much about geography

Don't know much trigonometry

Don't know much about algebra

Don't know what a slide rule is for

[Chorus 2]

But I do know one and one is two

And if this one could be with you

What a wonderful world this would be

[Bridge]

Now, I don't claim to be an A student

But I'm trying to be

For maybe by being an A student, baby

I can win your love for me...

My birthday was 20th Sept, and I did a "sneak away" time for myself, from the countryside to Ho Chi Minh City to play some music. The night of 20th was lonelier as I played at another place called Yoko Cafe (I did play many Beatles songs there). But I was by myself on my birthday and the place didn't have many customers at all.

21st Sept - The following day was another open mic at another place - cozier with so many more good performers, this place is where I filmed this video spontaneously myself. It was where I met a few old friends who I met at random times coming back to the city to play music earlier. How cool! We had a cozy time with so much laughter and good music.

It was my first time standing on that stage, but how happy it saved my birthday before, and I got to play 6 songs there, all of them are masterpieces!

It was the happiest day I had in such a long long time since I got covid, then a heartbreak, and bunch of life issues coming along afterwards.

When I was free falling and becoming invisible to this world though I was trying to hard to sort things out to get back up, oh how magical some friends (very very few) noticed me, saw me, and gave a hand to lift me up by truly listening to what I really need during this time to make a breakthrough.

Thank to a few of my friends, and a dedicated VN Hive member, I got what I needed to escape to be out on those nights. I laughed again, I felt free again, I felt heard again, I felt like myself again - an introvert, and overthinker but always laughing, cheerful, funny, cheeky, playful and full of life.

I'm working on getting a new online job now, so soon I can break the cage and set myself free physically, while maintaining a loyal heart for things I love and people I love - no matter where I am and what I do!

**This is what I wrote for myself about what I want for my life:

I want a base, a nest, a cozy comfortable home, a wooden house with music room, movie room, cool kitchen for home cooked meals, bedroom with super comfy large bed, a garden to grow plants and flowers,... and the hearts that will stay forever young.

... a place to come back after travelling.

But I also want to be free to travel anytime I want and not just work 9-5 and wait for the holiday. Literally ANYTIME! Just get the ticket and go.**

What about you? How are you handling a breakdown that you're going through (if you are)?

What's your dream life? 🥰

If you feel like you have nothing with you right now, here is the favorite part of a book I read awhile ago:

"Happiness is not something that happens. It is not the result of good fortune or random chance. It is not something that money can buy or power command. It does not depend on outside events, but, rather, on how we interpret them.

Happiness, in fact, is a condition that must be prepared for, cultivated, and defended privately by each person. People who learn to control inner experience will be able to determine the quality of their lives, which is as close as any of us can come to being happy.”

Hope you enjoy the songs.

Trust timing and the process to success ❤

A lot of times I wonder why I have so much energy?

And yes, today I feel quite empty and sad, but relieved at the same time.. for some reason.

But when you see me in this video, I can’t stop smiling...

I realized that, unless I’m not eating and sleeping for days, I’d pass out; I seem to be always either so calm or so wild whenever I need to.

Sometimes my friends see me getting so sick during the day. 8PM laying in bed having a bad cold, running nose and fever. 9PM I’m rocking on open mic stage.

I sing, I play the guitar, I laugh, I shout, I sweat, I see all the smiles and happy faces around me. I get off the stage and feel as strong as a lion king...

I found out that... the more sad you are, yes you gotta soak yourself into that vibe so you face your feelings, you process it the most healthy way as you can, but yeah, when it already starts to fade away... the more you have to look to do things on your own, with your own ways, to make YOURSELF feel glorious first! And do it as much as possible!

Our bodies and minds are extremely smart!

The mind takes in and processes information from how your body physically feels.

Go take a shower, clean up your face, brush your teeth, shave.. (any kind of hair you want to shave) off, put on some good perfume, and most important now: OVERDRESS FOR TODAY!

Haha as I’m saying this I’m laughing out loud. As I’m not a party girl, I love to dress simple but good looking, clean, tidy and sweet smelling.. most of the times.

Whenever my friends see me overdress – it’s actually for NOTHING – just on a random day. I do it because I want to. I do it because it makes me feel good. I do it because randomness is fun. There is no intention to get attention from the first place when I do such things, but maybe my adventurous mind always urges me to do things in a different way from others, because it always brings me some joyment that nobody ever has...

I often tell myself: How to save the day? It’s not going very well. People do this, people say that. Work is like this, friend is like that...

How to save the day?

NONE OF US IS THE VICTIM OF SITUATIONS!

ALL OF US CAN BE OBSERVERs – just one step backwards and start observing things, having a general look over everything, we’ll find out we have more options than we thought. We’ll realize that WE CAN EVEN CREATE OUR OWN OPTIONS.

It’s not that life or someone gives us options to choose. It’s us creating options for ourselves after DEFINING WHAT WE DESIRE (this is the first step).

**We all need a direction to go.

We all need a lazer-like focus to make things happen**

We all should learn from tigers. There are hundreds of deers on the field, the tiger is not gonna catch any of them; unless he starts observing for a few minutes, finding out the fattest but the weakest deer in the herd.

And when he decides that’s what he wants, he runs towards that deer with a speed of light. While running as fast, he focuses all his energy in there, his eyesight now is straight and stuck on that deer, he can not see anything else from the side...

And bang! He did it!

So his steps were: Define what he wants, make a plan, clear up the obtacles, then start focusing energy to one thing only! Then GO!

If it does not work out, he’ll come back and observe again...

Life is too much of complication already. We deal with too much information everyday.

Everyone gives us advices basing on what THEY THINK will be good for us

But ONLY US know what is good for us!

That’s why we need to be alone to figure out what we want.

Yes it’s lonely..

But one day you wake up after long nights of despression, loneliness and confusion, take a shower, dress up, walk down the street, feeling your body so fresh and sexy, your mind is so clear...

Or you ride up on the mountain, standing there looking up on the sky while the wind blowing in your face... You feel something in your chest, something tingle, something is expanding, something unexplainable, some excitement and some nervousness... and that moment, you tell yourself: Hey! I want this! I’m doing this!

Humm... long short.. Looks like I have so much to say in this post haha

Today was funny, a rare time I put some eyeblush and eyeliner on, worked a bit on my eyebrows, then Hey Jude popped up in my mind. I immediately sat down and recorded it.

I feel so good in this look, but promise you I didn’t even think of changing new outfit to fit the idea of “overdressing” like I mentioned above lol

So you could just imagine that fancy head of mine is sticked on a body wearing a fancy dress hahaha

Now, it feels relieved, it feels sad still, but the sun still shines and emotions will eventually change. The pride is us doing (crazy silly) things to step by step make ourselves feel better – before anyone does.

When the mind is clear, we can start processing the rest of the problem.

Enjoy the journey, because problems come up everyday, decisions gotta be made everyday. There is no mistakes, there are just lessons. Failure is a part of the process. Just stay happy, stay cool, stay optimistic, stay naughty and sexy too haha (life is too much stress already, be playful!)... and enjoy this endless journey – Or else we’ll never ever experience WHAT HAPPINESS REALLY IS in our lives..

Hey Jude – The Beatles

Lyrics:

Hey Jude, don't make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude, don't be afraid

You were made to go out and get her

The minute you let her under your skin

Then you begin to make it better

And any time you feel the pain

Hey Jude, refrain

Don't carry the world upon your shoulders

For well, you know that it's a fool

Who plays it cool

By making his world a little colder

Na-na-na-na, na

Na-na-na, na

Hey Jude, don't let me down

You have found her, now go and get her (let it out and let it in)

Remember to let her into your heart (hey Jude)

Then you can start to make it better...

Dear Hive friends, it’s another weekend here! ^^

These years go fast and sometimes it just thrills me whenever I look at how time’s flying on the calendar.

What have we been doing in the last few years? What have we achieved and what have we been dreaming of having but nothing happens yet?

People often call the sweet memories in the past “the good old days” and get stuck in it

Some others don’t agree with that. They think “yeah we had fun, but there is always more to come!”

We look at the past and we smile, we treasure what we have gone through, we look towards the future and get excited for it, and most important, we look at the present, to be present, to enjoy every single moment of it, to fight for what we want, to be brave and not just choose easy things to do like what the crowd always does, to not ignore our desire deep down in our hearts.

A favorite statement that I made up myself is: The most dangerous thing in life is not that you keep changing your plans and what you do, and people tell you “oh you don’t even know what you want”! The most dangerous thing is you feel something not right but you keep carrying on with life because you are afraid to make a change; you are afraid to mess things up if you leave what you have had. You are scared of starting over again with nothing in your hands. And years later.. you turn around and say: I wish I could have done different...

Someone told me: When I’m 80 years old laying in the hospital, I want to have lots of good memories and have nothing to regret.

What do you think about this? If you’re stuck on the fence now not knowing what to do at this stage of your life, you’re paralyzed and scared of moving, maybe this song will resonate with you well. And I hope it inspires you in the way it’s meant to be.

Half the world away – Oasis 1994

Lyrics:

I would like to leave this city

This old town don't smell too pretty

And I can feel the warnin' signs

Runnin' around my mind

And when I leave this island

I'll book myself into a soul asylum

'Cause I can feel the warnin' signs

Runnin' around my mind

So here I go

I'm still scratchin' around in the same old hole

My body feels young but my mind is very old

So what do you say?

You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway

You're half the world away

Half the world away

Half the world away

I've been lost, I've been found

But I don't feel down

And when I leave this planet

You know I'd stay but I just can't stand it

And I can feel the warnin' signs

Runnin' around my mind

Here I go

I'm still scratchin' around in the same old hole

My body feels young but my mind is very old

So what do you say?

You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway

You're half the world away

Half the world away

Half the world away

I've been lost, I've been found

But I don't feel down

No, I don't feel down

No, I don't feel down

"You know I'm a blooming flower, and people come to me, look at me, want to get to know me for different purposes...

But...

Nobody looks at me the way you do

Nobody communicates with me the way you do

Nobody sees me the way you see me

Nobody do things with me the way you do with me

And nobody does things for me the way you do for me - and though it was for a very short amount of time... I secretly watched you, I listened to you, I felt you... then I saw you through...

You wanted to make me happy in every moment we spent together. You wanted to make little things in my life easier and comfortable for me. I saw all that! And I'm so grateful for you though we didn't get to spend so much time together.

So, However far away

I will always love you

However long I stay

I will always love you

Whatever words I say

I will always love you

I will always love you"

Sam Cooke sings "one and one is two", but Barbara Lewis sings "two and two is three"!

Hi friends! How excited you are when the world is reopening?

This has been giving us so much more chances to travel, to work, to hangout, to do what we have wanted to do!

Today I'm back, introducing you to my grandma singing "Baby I'm yours" by Barbara Lewis in 1965 haha

Actually the song came out back then. But I never knew it until Arctic Monkeys did a cover in 2006 - more rock'n'rock vibe which made me fall for the song!

Not sure what going on with me at the moment. Cause for how much of a private person I am, these days (at least with music) I just want to put myself out there and sing out loud my feelings and thoughts (hoping I won't get much attention still 😛) haha.

Not seeking perfection, just looking to do better everytime.

Not looking for perfect connections, just hoping to meet ones who are open in their communication 😊

And there will be days I won't play music or talk, we just look at each other, smile, and see each other's heart through 🍭

Enjoy and I hope you're safe and sound where you are ^^

Lyrics:

Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours)

And I'll be yours (yours) until the stars fall from the sky

Yours (yours) until the rivers all run dry

In other words, until I die

Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours)

And I'll be yours (yours) until the sun no longer shines

Yours (yours) until the poets run out of rhyme

In other words, until the end of time

I'm gonna stay right here by your side

And do my best to keep you satisfied

Nothin' in the world could drive me away

Every day, you'll hear me say

Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours)

And I'll be yours (yours) until two and two is three

Yours (yours) until the mountain crumbles to the sea

In other words, until the eternity

Baby, I'm yours (ooh)

'Til the stars fall from the sky

(Baby, I'm yours)

'Til the rivers all run dry

(Baby, I'm yours)

"Close your eyes and I'll kiss you

Tomorrow I'll miss you

Remember I'll always be true

And then while I'm away, I'll write home everyday

And I'll send all my loving to you..."

Among all hard decisions we have to make in life, leaving our loved ones for their safety our our safety is extremely heart-broken!

And that’s what going on out there, during this time. I have heard many sad stories from friends in other countries about people leaving their families, their husbands, wives. People don’t know when they’ll see each other again – or even will!

I’m really thrilled by for how long I have loved and played the Beatles, and how old these songs are – They’ve always been touching the bottom of our hearts. They’ve always been so true, so real, so beautiful, they tell stories of the past, demonstrate the present, and they predict the future... and they were written over a hal century ago.

Nobody I know ever plays this song around. But let me bring you to this version of the first time I tried playing electric guitar for this song on a big stage. Myself I don’t have an electric guitar and never get to practice on it. But whenever the acoustic strings break, we never hesitate to pick up the electric guitar and give it a try.

The cool thing about playing this song on an electric guitar is – It made me feel loser to John Lennon haha

Most of Beatles songs are played by electric guitars, and I love how John Lennon did this song, very unique technique!

Hope you’re safe where you are. And don’t hesitate to try new things, whatever you want to do, you want to try, do it!

It may not be very perfect, but it’s always fun and that’s how exciting life is!

Thank you for being here today ^^

"It's a quarter after one

I'm a little drunk and I need you now

Said I wouldn't call, but I lost all control

And I need you now

And I don't know how I can do without

I just need you now..."

It's so hard to explain my feelings for this song.

The point of being a musician is a lot of times you feel like your day falls in from the top after hearing a song like this.

And well, you were having a fun day before that moment.

There was one time I joined karaoke night that my buddy hosted. After he left, I went to the parking lot after him only 5 mins. That was when our favorite song by Taylor Swift "All too well - 10 mins version" came up by two girls singing inside. And oh my! My heart felt broken immediately and I felt like I couldn't stand up anymore. I called my buddy to come back and said "hey you they're singing that song!". I ran to his door after he arrived home with a coffee at midnight asking him to go to the beach with me or I'd die.

Thinking of that day again makes me feel so silly and funny!

My buddy said he used to be that way too, and those days will be gone, and be back again when we're having the most vulnerable days in life. Maybe something is changing, maybe it's a good breakthrough and just don't consider it as something too bad.

Now I'm trying to relate myself with this song. And yes I went through something like this. And sadly it had a sad ending just like at the end of the song, the story does not go anywhere...

Feeling like a blank is probably good sometimes, but a lot of times feeling like a blank is a very unpleasant feeling!

"Yes I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all"...

Not sure how you gonna feel this song, but I feel that blank feeling more than anything. But hold on, enjoy the song and next time I'll get back to happy love songs again. Love is all around!

Hope you well there! Stay warm and pray for innocent humans out there suffering the war! 💖

Lyrics:

Picture perfect memories

Scattered all around the floor

Reaching for the phone cause

I can't fight it anymore

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind

For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one

I'm all alone and I need you now

Said I wouldn't call, but I lost all control

And I need you now

And I don't know how I can do without

I just need you now

Another shot of whisky

Can't stop looking at the door

Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind

For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one

I'm a little drunk and I need you now

Said I wouldn't call, but I lost all control

And I need you now

And I don't know how I can do without

I just need you now

Guess I rather hurt than feel nothing at all

It's a quarter after one

I'm all alone and I need you now

And I said I wouldn't call

But I'm a little drunk and I need you now

And I don't know how I can do without

I just need you now...

Hi all! How have you been? 😍

You know it is Tet – Vietnamese new year in Viet Nam?

It’s been eventful days here

And thoughn everyone is celebrating, I’m doing my own things and not like anyone else’s haha

So let me catch up with you a bit at the end of my video!

Today is a Vietnamese song – I’m currently into Oasis and Vietnamese songs again

Next video will be Oasis song maybe?

This Vietnamese song is called “Tình yêu màu nắng”

A sweet love song about a girl’s feelings about love and a guy. Very sweet dreaming one!

Why is this song special to me?

When I was in college, I had a crush on a guy when we were in military course – when we had to live in a military school for a month studying and living life of army!

At night we all got to the yard of the school playing guitar, dancing and singing!

That guy liked this song so I was trying to play it. Maybe it wasn’t very good back then haha.

I was very shy and so was he, so there was nothing happened. Just flash back some memory.

Recently I started singing karaoke of this song again with my buddy, and we realized how fast time has passed!

Enjoy the song and hope you feel some sweetness from here.

Last night was Tet open mic and I dressed up like a princess playing hard rock haha

Life is full of surprises!

Little Beatle ♫

Lyrics:

(I) call you Sunny so I can be the white clouds

(I) cling to your side never leaving you4

And when (I) call you Rain, we can't be close anymore

You bring the warmth away

And for now I'm alone and helpless, lost in dreams

So come play with me, we're in the middle of the sky

A place far away, someone to lead me in the dark night

To be be close to you forever

And I wanna know

(A) place in the heart that still misses silently for so long

Will bring to us dreams of that happiness

Or just sorrows?

Do you know how immense is my love?

Then there will come a day you will suddenly realise that

Our love is like a flower

Wait for when the sunrise, when the lips are radiant again

Our love will not fade...

Love letter 💗

Hi stranger,

Who knows how long I've loved you

You know I love you still

Will I wait a lonely lifetime

If you want me to, I will

For if I ever saw you

I didn't catch your name

But it never really mattered

I will always feel the same

Love you forever and forever

Love you with all my heart

Love you whenever we're together

Love you when we're apart

And when at last I find you

Your song will fill the air

Sing it loud so I can hear you

Make it easy to be near you

For the things you do endear you to me

You know I will

I will

This tender feeling is probably how I feel about us these days!

I always experience feelings very intensely and I thought it would always be that way.

When things calm down a bit sometimes I panic. But in fact when it comes to the right thing, right time, right person, it is just there! We will be consistent but it does not need to be intense all the time, everyday. Am I right?

  • “Sometimes you don’t need to say anything if you feel comfortable with someone 😊”
  • “Do you feel comfortable with me?”
  • “Yes I do. Do you feel comfortable with me?”
  • “You made me feel comfortable and safe from the first texts”
  • “Good 😊”
  • “Is this a good sign?”
  • “Yes it’s a very good sign 😊”

*Will I wait a lonely lifetime. If you want me to, I will

Love you forever and forever

Love you with all my heart

Love you whenever we're together

Love you when we're apart

And when at last I find you

Your song will fill the air

Sing it loud so I can hear you

Make it easy to be near you

For the things you do endear you to me

You know I will...”*

I hope you hear this. Until we meet, my handsome trouble! :)

New week here and how is your mode to rock it?

Hi dear! ❤️️

Recently I’m going through a real busy time to get settled with my job and also to not let go of anything I love to do.

After getting back here for a few days I realized that my feelings about Hive and my friends here have moved to a different level!

I don’t know how it is like for you when you start to get along with everyone here and to know more people, for me I’m just totally amazed and moved realizing I have some friends sticking around with me. There were days I was not online and could not check anything out, and when I’m back, you are there keeping to contribute for the community. And with your caring words and encouragement, now I understand why many long term Hivers told me at the beginning “Later on you’ll stick with Hive because of the community”.

This is so pure, this is so beautiful!

Alright!

Now back to the song haha

I’m setting some equipment in my room so I can get a better and more stable camera angle. I kinda like this angle, I like “clean” background.

As you know I’m so much into 60’s rock. International rock in general!

And other than that, sometimes I like a few modern songs, I like 70’s and 80’s pop as well. But still, I never knew how much I’m really into 60’s rock, until I look back at the Vietnamese songs I like (which I have not played for awhile), I realized the songs that can really get me... are Vietnamese 60’s rock songs too haha

And here what makes this special! This is a bit about history

You know how amazing American 60’s rock is, right? A major ingredient of the whole world’s rock.

>In Viet Nam, from 1954-1975 was when American stationed in the South, specifically Saigon! – Where the song I’m playing today is from!

That was a really long time and was the era when Sai Gon became such a beautiful place with music influence, dancing, trading, culture things... and Sai Gon became an Eastern Pearl of the whole area.

Here I’m not mentioning anything about the war, I’m talking about the music!

And so much or music that came out that time became gold!

So many types of music were formed suring that time too. And this we can not skip rock!

All those twist songs! We even got influenced by Elvis Presley and there was Vietnamese super rock star back then got his stage name “Elvis Phuong”.

And the cool thing about the culture influence is, it got mixed with the local culture!

Nowadays, those songs are still alive just like American classics. And this song is one of them!

60 Year of Life (I translated its name) is a song by Y Van – He was a real pillar of Vietnamese music in 50’s-90’s until he passed. He wrote hundreds songs and most of them became hits.

This is is simple and it brings a rocknroll positive spirit to encourage us to love!

Life is not long, he said: The first 20 yearss, you grow up and study, the next 20 years, you focus on working to get settled and you fall inlove and you suffer as well, you have like 20 years left to enjoy life with your loved ones when everything is already put together...

And that, never waste your time!

This is cool, isn’t it?

This song was absolutely influenced by American rock, and with the talent of the composer, it brings a special vibe!

I definately do a crazy rock’n’roll version of this song on stage, but here, let’s be more chill! But you see how cool the basslines of 60's are! I love adding basslines this way and it has become my nature to do it.

Enjoy the song and I hope you have a wonderful week there!

Big hugs to all of you!

And once again, I’m so grateful you are here today! ❤️️

Lyrics:

My dear, how much time?

Sixty years of life

First twenty years

Not much happy times

Next twenty years

Sadness is so high

Last twenty years not much!

My dear, how much time, sixty years of life

Away from you, who will be my love?

So, when in love, please love to life's end

My dear, we won't live long!

Not so much

One's life won't last long

Not so long

One's life won't last much

Years we have

Let's live for our love!

My dear, how much time, sixty years of life

Away from you who will be my love?

So, when in love, please love to life's end

My dear, we won't live long!

Hi cool friends!

How have you been there? Do you know it is Tet holiday coming in Viet Nam next week?

It is our traditional new year and it is usually celebrated for a whole week haha

This is the most special moment of the year with family. And sadly, once again, I’m gonna miss it with my family again, two years in a row!

They are 500 miles away, not that far, but during this pandemic, things become hash!

Here I’m trying to handle this feeling of the fact that I am here alone again during Tet, and how I miss the Southern vibe with family... today I walked by the mirror in my room and realized I forgot how much I love looking at myself in the mirror and playing sweet Disney Princess songs haha. And yes I’m not a teenager anymore, but I always feel beautiful, loved and young when it comes to playing songs!

So I decided to do this video singing Cinderella song – and like how all the princesses always look outside the window or into the mirror to sing! This just excited me and put a big smile on my face.

Have you watch Cinderella Lily James version? If so you’ll hear this song in there!

I imagine myself running into forest catching butterfies singing these songs too!

Is this old soul or young soul? I can’t even tell!

I just feel lucky that I’m alive – I’m healthy (I try to) and so, any kind of experiences will be irreplaceable.

But until the prince comes (well he’ll have to find me somewhere and join my adventures of catching butterfies), I’ll still keep singing these sweet songs!

Love you all! I don’t really know how to explain my feelings now. There are days the words just gone, but I still want to say I love and appreciate you all!

Be a price or princess in your own world!

Lyrics:

Lavender's blue,

Dilly dilly,

Lavenders green.

When I am King,

Dilly dilly,

You shall be Queen.

Who told you so,

Dilly dilly,

Who told you so?

T'was my own heart,

Dilly dilly,

That told me so.

Call up your men,

Dilly dilly,

Set them to work.

Some to the plow,

Dilly dilly,

Some to the fork.

Some to make hay,

Dilly dilly,

Some to cut corn.

While you and I,

Dilly dilly,

Keep ourselves warm.

Lavender's green,

Dilly dilly,

Lavender's blue.

If you love me,

Dilly dilly,

I will love you.

Let the birds sing,

Dilly dilly,

Let the lambs play.

We shall be safe,

Dilly dilly,

Out of harms way.

I love to dance,

Dilly dilly,

I love to sing.

When I am Queen,

Dilly dilly,

You'll be my King.

Who told me so,

Dilly dilly,

Who told me so?

I told myself,

Dilly dilly,

I told me so.

Hi dear! 🤗

**I’m back! Yay!

God I can’t tell how happy I am to start checking out your beautiful posts and life events again! I felt like it was a decade haha**

Last night I snuck out to Hoi An – another city and decided to treat myself to a night of music jamming.

My little town is still banning music events but it’s not difficult to go to another town though it won’t be as cool as it here.

***- We were facing the beach - you can hear the sound of the waves!

  • No drummer there but with headphones you'll hear the bass better!
  • I love how we were shaking our butts haha ***

Anyway, let me introduce you to a very cool and old song:

Jambalaya (on the bayo) – Originally by Hank Williams (1952) – Yes haha! 1952! You never have to worry of me running out of old stuff lol

The most popular version is actually by The Carpenters in 1970’s

But still, different vibes, and you can choose which one is your favorite :D

ME AND THIS SONG

Started to play this song as one of the very first songs I played at Open Mic in Da Nang, and as you know - I’m always the first person to play a song that nobody plays live here haha. Later on I kinda made it popular and it became one of the songs people always ask me to play when I pick up the guitar.

Look how chill I was, but hold on, it is not that easy to sing this song >o<

I use only 2 chords G and D, capo 2nd fret

But let’s break down the history and the language/lyrics in this song and why it is special!

ABOUT THE SONG

"Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" is a song written and recorded by American country music singer Hank Williams that was first released in July 1952. It is Williams' most covered song. Named for a Creole and Cajun dish, jambalaya, it spawned numerous cover versions and has since achieved popularity in several different music genres.

Williams began writing the song while listening to the Cajuns talk about food on the Hadacol Caravan bus. With a melody based on the Cajun song "Grand Texas", some sources, including AllMusic, claim that the song was co-written by Williams and Moon Mullican, with Williams credited as sole author and Mullican receiving ongoing royalties. Williams' biographer Colin Escott speculates that it is likely Mullican wrote at least some of the song and Hank's music publisher Fred Rose paid him surreptitiously so that he wouldn't have to split the publishing with Moon's label King Records.

Williams' song resembles "Grand Texas" in melody only. "Grand Texas" is a song about a lost love, a woman who left the singer to go with another man to "Big Texas"; "Jambalaya", while maintaining a Cajun theme, is about life, parties and stereotypical food of Cajun cuisine. The narrator leaves to pole a pirogue down the shallow water of the bayou, to attend a party with his girlfriend Yvonne and her family. At the feast they have Cajun cuisine, notably Jambalaya, crawfish pie and filé gumbo, and drink liquor from fruit jars. Yvonne is his [ma] "chère amie", which is Cajun French for "my dear (female) friend" or more likely to mean "my girlfriend."

Here are the lyrics:

Verse 1:

Goodbye, Joe, he gotta go, me oh my oh

He gotta go, pole the pirogue down the Bayou

His Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh

Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the Bayou

Verse 2:

Thibodaux, Fontaineaux, the place is buzzin'

Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen

Dressed in style they go hog wild, me oh my oh

Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the Bayou

Chorus:

Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filé gumbo

For tonight I'm a gonna see my ma cher ami-o

Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o

Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the Bayou

Verse 3:

Settle down far from town, get him a pirogue

And he'll catch all the fish in the Bayou

Swap his mon to buy Yvonne what she need-o

Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the Bayou

Chorus repeat

The lyrics are just SO SPECIFIC! Haha

This is a rare song that I had to break down word by word to learn to sing.

**- Pole the pirogue down the Bayou

  • Yvonne
  • Thibodaux, Fontaineaux
  • Kinfolk
  • Hog wild, me oh my oh
  • Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filé gumbo
  • My ma cher ami-o
  • Be gay-o (gay-o is an old term to say “happy”)
  • Swap his mon to buy Yvonne what she need-o**

Haha it was so difficult and so much much to learn and sing these!

Later on it became a part of me, and each time I play the song everyone is like “do you always sing such accident words which I don’t even know them all though I’m a native speaker?”

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this vibe!

I enjoyed playing with those guys so much

And once again, this is jamming and we did not practice before. My favorite is the violin guy coming from Saigon to travel. He just jumped right in and rocked with us like a real star!

My friend Luke on the bass is an incredible talent. He has a band, he got great voice, great originals, he plays acoustic guitar, a master of electric guitar, he plays bass, he plays piano too hahaha

And the guy on backing micro is Casey, he is a cool friend, he plays bunch of Irish music!

Enjoy your day there and hope you find this post interesting!

I really appreciate you guys remembering me while I was gone for a bit, and now you’re here with me again!

LUV!

**Hi dear friends!

It must be strange because I disappeared in the last few days **😊

And now I'm popping in to let you know that I'm still here.

I missed so many comments and posts of you guys. But know that I missed you all and I'm not leaving Hive!

Currently, at the end of the year (Vietnamese calendar), I've got really important things to focus on at the moment.

These things are REALLY IMPORTANT to me and my life and it's gonna be a good transformation 😊 I feel it!

You know what it is? I'm getting a full time job as a content writer, while learning to be a copy writer at the same time!

I have been writing a lot using my instinct and I feel super happy and proud.

During this pandemic - it's been 2 years since I got my last tour and worked as an international tourguide, I have been struggling so much to change the direction to adapt to the new world dynamid!

I don't want to just hang in there and wait for tourism industry to fully open again.

And joining Hive is such a great thing I did - that led me to the idea of being a professional writer!

Make better money that my skills, knowledge, mind spirit, my efforts deserve to be paid off with!

And all I hope for is to get settled alone during the pandemic. I have one kid (my dog haha), and I'm 500 miles away from home. I have sister going to school and old parents...

However, believe me this is a great transformation. I believe that my hands, my brain, my heart and spirit can do more than I have ever done!

And so these days, I spend only 4 hours/day to sleep, 3 mins to eat a meal, and my apartment now is like a pig cage smelling like trash 🤣 I'm gonna have to stand up now to clean up though I'm very exhauted now...

But all the training lessons that I've been taking, the tests I've been doing, the applications that I've been sending out... mean so much for me, and I hope to be more free in the next few days so I can get back here and share my content more consistently like I always did before.

You know what I realized in the last few days?

How much I love Hive and miss it! Yes! I miss you all! And trust me that it's not about how much I make (probably a lot) if I get successful applying for this full time job, Hive is still a part of me and I'll make a good schedule to keep everything going 😊

I also found out my musical brain can't focus on too many things and do them gloriously at once!

So these days I had to text all my friends that I won't be able to hangout for a few days, because I don't want to be a superficial listener when I'm with them!

If I try so hard this way everything explodes like bubbles and I'll have nothing left after all my efforts. I'll be so sad!

I told them: So... let me chase JUST one rabbit at a time and get back then we can celebrate together ok? 😊

I hope you are all doing great there!

I did a song for you, this is a special one I love to play on stage.

(Forgot to let you know my town got in a slight lockdown 3 days ago so there won't be live music or parties or dinning in until further notification). I was sad but at least I can focus on other things now. And we can still go to the next street to hangout haha

This song by Glenn Frey (oh I have a crush on him) talks about the freedom to make decisions in life. And though we don't know what will happen tomorrow, be present and enjoy it today, make decision for tomorrow, go for it and never regret! 😊

Little Beatle ♫

Lyrics:

I felt it when the sun came up this morning

I knew I could not wait another day

Darling, there is something I must tell you

A distant voice is calling me away

Until we find a bridge across forever

Until this grand illusion brings us home

You and I will always be together

From this day on you`ll never walk alone

You're a part of me, I'm a part of you

Wherever we may travel

Whatever we go through

Whatever time may take away

It cannot change the way we feel today

So hold me close and say you feel it too

You're a part of me, and I'm a part of you

I can hear it when I stand beside the river

I can see it when I look up in the sky

I can feel it when I hear that lonesome highway

So many miles to go before I die

We can never know about tomorrow

Still we have to choose which way to go

You and I are standing at the crossroads

Darling, there is one thing you should know....

You're a part of me, I'm a part of you

Wherever we may travel

Whatever we go through

Whatever time may take away

It cannot change the way we feel today

So hold me close and say you feel it too

You'e part of me, and I'm a part of you...

Buddies - What do you enjoy doing with your buddies the most?

For me, I specially have good connection with people who are into music, and of course all my buddies LOVE music!

Dalton is one of them! And he is the only person who has done gigs with me in the city!

We were good friends for over a year until he left Viet Nam in October 2021 to go back to the US.

Yes, many of my friends have left that way, and it always took me awhile to overcome it!

Dalton is a sweet friend, we were as close that we could talk about with guys and girls stuff across both American and Vietnamese culture!

This video was filmed when we jammed our most favorite song to play together.

Whenever we jammed, I would be the main vocal and play rhythm guitar, while Dalton would add basslines or solo notes - even though he is just like me: a rhythm guitar player and singer!

That's what I like about some cool guy friends, they learn fast and they are so good at figuring things out!

About the song:

It seems like he never knew the song before I played it in front of him the first time!

One time we practiced for a show and I brought it up, Dalton became obsessed with this song and he naturally added solo notes into it.

And he even got stuck with those notes running in his mind all week hahaha. Miss him now!

This is a cozy vibe and I hope you enjoy it!

Jamaica Farewell

"Jamaica Farewell" is a Jamaican-style folk song (mento). The lyrics for the song were written by Lord Burgess (Irving Burgie), an American-born, half-Barbadian songwriter. It is about the beauties of the West Indian Islands.

Harry Belafonte recording

The song appeared on Harry Belafonte's 1956 album Calypso. It reached number fourteen on the Billboard Pop chart.

Background

Many, including Belafonte himself, have said that the song was popular in the West Indies since long before Burgess. It is believed that Burgess compiled and modified the song from many folk pieces to make a new song. Burgess acknowledged his use of the tune of another mento, "Iron Bar". The line "ackee, rice, saltfish is nice" refers to the Jamaican national dish.

This song also has a Vietnamese version that I have heard all the time since I was a kid. Later on I found out the original is in English!

Each time I hear or play the song, I always imagine myself going on a trip to a tropical island joining a party with locals. We'll dance around fire and sing all night together!

What about you?

What do you think of when hearing this song? ^^

Little Beatle ♫

Lyrics:

Verse 1:

Down the way

Where the nights are gay

And the sun shines daily on the mountaintop

I took a trip on a sailing ship

And when I reached Jamaica I made a stop

Chorus:

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way

Won't be back for many a day

My heart is down

My head is turning around

I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Verse 2:

Sounds of laughter everywhere

And the dancing girls swing to and fro

I must declare my heart is there

Though I've been from Maine to Mexico

Chorus:

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way

Won't be back for many a day

My heart is down

My head is turning around

I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Verse 3:

Down at the market you can hear

Ladies cry out while on their heads they bear

Ackee, rice, saltfish are nice

And the rum is fine any time of year

Chorus:

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way

Won't be back for many a day

My heart is down

My head is turning around

I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Happy Weekend! 😊

You remember me posting my first original here once before. This time I’m sharing with you my first time playing it live with a band!

The fears:

1 -- Many people told me they are afraid to play their originals at Open Mic cause they are shy, they are afraid that other musicians don’t know their songs well and will mess it up, they are afraid that it won’t sound good going with other instruments as they expected... blabla...

And for so many reasons, I know many people who have got their own originals but never let them played in public.

2 – Myself: I had played this song a few times somewhere else where it was just me and the guitar, no other instruments, nobody else joining but me. And so it went exactly as I wanted. And everyone loved it!

This time, I was like:

God! I’m so curious of how my song gonna sound like when it comes out with other instruments? Cause I have not got to produce it professionally yet. In fact I still want to fix it a little more before producing it.

***How would it sound like when adding bass?

How is it like if the drums playing along?

Would it be cool if someone adds some solo notes?***

And these thought urged me to just go ahead and do it.

Those guys are amazing musicians. And even though they never ever heard my song before, they were so excited to jam along with me.

And so, what makes this jamming special:

• It’s the first time I play my own song and get to hear how it sounds like with other instruments – And even though these guys were trying to figure out how to play my song – which they never heard in their lives before – You can watch their reaction and see them coming from getting curious --> getting confused --> trying to figure it out --> chilling with it!

This is such a special and sweet thing to watch!

• It’s the first time I feel like I’m the leader of a band!

We jam often and other guys would follow my lead if I’m the lead vocal playing a cover song, but when it comes to original – I take control 100% - And this is the most glorious feeling ever! Aaaaaaaaa!

• Of course we all have fun and this is a special song to me to tell the story about myself coming from the dark days to be vulnerable to fall inlove and inspire others to just love!

Here’s the lyrics for you, let me know which lines are your favorite.

I definately love them all cause I wrote them haha, but I specically love the last verse : “Tonight coming home to me

Hold me tight, set your feeling free. Closer, let's go over

Closer, we'll go father...” 🤗

Verse 1:

Wake up I'm leaving the ground

Before the sun is going down

Darkness used to saved me

Sadness used to raise me

But madness makes me crazy

For how long live would be

Verse 2:

So soon I'll be in your arms

So soon I'll come to no harm

Love you won't be easy

But love you, isn't love free?

Love love love, all I need is love, love is all I need

Chorus:

Cause the hand that comes for no game

I'll be there always with no blame

Cause no pain no gain

Cause these moments will be lost in time like tears in rain

Verse 3:

Tonight coming home to me

Hold me tight, set you're feeling free

Closer, let's go over

Closer, we'll go father

Love love love, all we need is love, love is all we need

Just you and me
