When I started MTR in 2006 I was just a guy with a USB microphone and the desire to share my views with the masses on a grand scale. I realized that in order to evolve and become better you need to seek out others that share your drive, your interests and the will to make sacrifices to ensure success. Along the way I studied the works of guys like Tim Ferris, Ramit Sethi and JD Roth searching for inspiration to be better myself personally and professionally. I came across the crew from The Phat Startup and found not only inspiration but a kinship with individuals I never met. The Phat Startup is a think tank comprised of talented hustlers who strive to educate entrepreneurs both young and old with edgy, hip and thought provoking dialogue and content. James Lopez and Anthony Frasier took time to speak with me and share their successes, their goals and even their failures. I hope their stories enlighten you the reader, listener and viewer and perhaps spark the flame of creativity in you.

If you are a tech enthusiast and a gym rat then you have seen the all the different devices that seek to monitor everything from your sleep pattern to your resting heart rate. The wrist has become the latest piece of coveted real estate when it comes to wearable tech but Heapsylon is looking to change that with their Sensoria Fitness sock. The Sensoria tracker and sock will not only capture the usual data like steps taken or running speed but will also measure cadence, foot landing technique and heel striking which is vital not only for running but will assist in reducing injuries.
Maurizio Macagno sat down with Rich to not only discuss the origins of Heapsylon and Sensoria but to give MTR listeners a glimpse into next evolution of wearable technology that Sensoria has to offer.

Mike Kingston returns to MTR Beyond The Mic to talk about the latest chapter in the Headlocked series and the Kickstarter campaign being used to get this next chapter released. Headlocked tells the story of professional wrestler Mike Hartmann. Here is a far better description from Mike via Headlocked’s Kickstarter page.
What is Headlocked?
In one sentence, it's a wrestling cable drama in a comic book!
Headlocked is a coming-of-age story chronicling a college theater major's quest to become a professional wrestler. It begins from the moment he unexpectedly falls in love with wrestling and follows his journey through the insanity of the wrestling business as he chases his dream of making it to the bright lights and the big stage of the WFW.
On a deeper level, Headlocked is an examination of wrestling as an art form. Our main character, Mike Hartmann, is a college theater major that drops out of school to try and break into the wrestling business. So the reader will learn more about the craft of wrestling through the eyes of a performance artist.
Mike needs our help to get the next chapter made. Donations can be a little as a dollar and there are some awesome perks and extras that fans will enjoy. We already pledged and support Mike and Headlocked

In our latest installment of MTR Beyond The Mic we interviewed Jason David Frank. A lot of you may know Jason from his work on Power Rangers but there is much more to this amazing individual. Jason is not only an accomplished martial artist but he also created his own fighting system called “Toso Kune Do” (Translation: Way of the Fighting Fist). In addition to his diverse martial arts background Jason also competes in mixed martial arts and is a Guinness world record holder. It was great talking to an individual who takes pride in his work and continues to connect and inspire his fans on a consistent basis. Amongst all the stuff we discussed you’ll hear about a sparring session with Jose Conseco, a potential fight with Jean Claude Van Damme that fell through and Jason’s desire to have an MMA fight with WWE superstar CM Punk.

Derrick Samuels from EnGeniux joined for this new episode. Many of you may remember Derrick from episode of 98 of My Take Radio where he shared his vision of an android based console called the EVO 2 which at the time was ready to hit the market and be the shot across the bow for console gaming. Derrick has since moved on and started EnGeniux which will be bringing a unique and revolutionary console called Oton which will not only be a game console but also gamers to create their own games as well. While I am sure the concept has you chomping at the bit it gets better as Oton is also fully autonomous. You think it the system does it! Derrick shares his vision not only of Oton but about how it will change the way we play and create games.

In this fresh serving of Beyond The Mic we had the opportunity to sit down with gaming personality May Garcia. Don’t let the picture fool you though as this young lady is more than a pretty face and knows here way around games. Ms. Garcia gave tremendous insight into her career as a games producer for Nickelodeon and the road it took to get there. If you have children that frequent Nick.com there is possibility that the games they are playing have May’s fingerprints on them. Her most recent project was a motion comic for the Nickelodeon reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which by the way debuts on Nickelodeon on 9/29/12. If you want to check out the TMNT motion comics the links will be available below. May also completed work on her first console title which will be released during the 2012 holiday season. In addition to talking at length about games May also shared her thoughts on women in the gaming industry and associated stigmas that come with the territory. We would like to thank May for taking the time to share her story and taking My Take Radio beyond the mic.

Interview Notes
Dr. Rob Dickman and Simon Edwards joined us to discuss their upcoming animated series Wroxer. Wroxer borrows elements of MMA and pro wrestling while instilling strong core values in children. Here is the synopsis for the series.
Wroxer is the story of ROBBY WALKER an underdog MMA fighter leading a team of misfit superheroes known as “THE CORE” against the evil “VOID” in a battle that will determine the fate of humanity.
THE WROXER ORBS
Yin and Yang. The battle between good and evil. An equal balance that effects not only our lives, but the balance of the universe. EARTH has provided an environment upon itself in which life can exist and thrive. But for every positive there is a negative. And to Earth’s “Yin” there is a planetary “Yang”… VENUS. Earth’s intergalactic twin in many ways with the exception of one: Life.
Venus despises life, and is hell bent on destroying it. Millions of years ago, in the age of dinosaurs, Venus injected an evil energy know as THE VOID into a passing comet, and directed it towards an unsuspecting Earth. The Void is a virus that can wipe out all life in it’s path by infecting a living creature and guiding it towards the destruction of other life. Once the comet struck Earth, The Void spread to the dinosaurs and drove them to extinction. For this, Earth never forgave Venus.
Millions of years later a new form of life has risen to prominence on Earth. The human race. Venus once again injected The Void, this time into the X1/WXR comet also known as WROXER, and directed it on a collision course with Earth. But this time Earth was ready. Countering the evil Void energy with an energy of it’s own… THE CORE. A counter balancing energy designed to battle the Void, and protect life on Earth with enhanced power and the use of Earth’s elements in defense. Upon colliding with the Earth, the Wroxer comet was broken up into ORBS and scattered across the globe. Each orb contains an equal amount of Void, and Core energy, as well as the ability to control one of five Earthly elements: FIRE, WATER, LIFE, WIND, AND ELECTRICITY.
Humans who come into contact with an orb become WROXERS… those with the ability to ADAPT into their INNER FIGHTERS. Someone with a greater amount of positive spirit who comes into contact with an orb becomes a member of The Core, while those with a greater amount of negative spirit becomes a member of The Void. To keep the universe in balance, each orb has the ability to create one hero and one villain. An Earthly Yin, to Venus’ Yang. Using the elements in a war that will determine the future of mankind.

For this new episode of Beyond the Mic I had the pleasure of speaking to some of the staff of Royal Flush Magazine. Steve Chanks, Dani and “Modest” Johnny sat with MTR for nearly an hour and gave an inside look at what makes Royal Flush Magazine tick. From their gaming coverage all the way to their amazing cover art this team keeps a level of freedom and originality that is missing from print publications nowadays. I did something different with this interview and that was keep the editing to a minimum because the banter that was exchanged amongst the staff and I felt integral to the interview so don’t be shocked when you hear my cell ring or when Steve plays the banjo. These are things that added to the interview in their own unique way.
Enjoy,
Rich

Mike provided a tremendous amount of insight not only into his site but also into his views on various movie genres and gimmicks that few critics venture into. I had wanted to speak with Mike for a while since his views on the film industry were very similar to my own. Mike did experience some audio issues throughout the interview but we toughed it out and made it work. Make sure to stop by DVD Snapshot on Friday as they launch their brand new site.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Misti Dawn who is the owner and creator of The Naughty Nerd. The Naughty Nerd is a website that caters to the ladies but not in the typical manner you would expect. Misti and her team deliver a mature take on all your favorite games and any geeky interests you may have. Misti is also an adult film actress and she juggles both aspects of her work professionally. I enjoyed her honesty and her honest views on the gaming industry.
