Abiding by the need for creative input in order to get creative output is something we strive to live by in our work at BME. Creative input isn’t a foreign affair for our dedicated copywriter Alyssa McGrail. She’s been writing stories since she was young, including the short story Penelope the Peanut Head.
Thankfully her creative side didn’t stop there, as she added to her life’s journey by ditching film school to get back to what she loved most – telling a story. Life threw more creative input at her as she taught English in Taiwan for three years, and the diverse experiences don’t end there. Before she came to BME, she was an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist, working with children with special needs.
This created a bit of insecurity in her writing ability, having been away from writing for a while before she started working here. The diversity in her experiences before she became a copywriter is an asset and something that drives the creative work she puts forth every day.
With some self love and the healthy and supportive environment we have here at BME, she was able to pursue her passions and her natural-born literary talent to become confident in her role as a professional writer. Her advice for those interested in becoming a writer is to take the time to follow their passions and be open to the inspiration that flows in when they do.
Life has handed Alyssa what seems like a lot of creative input, and it shows in her exemplary writing and work. So take Penelope the Peanut Head and this episode of BME stories as a reminder to keep living and embracing all of the inspiration you can get out of your life! It will be sure to show in what you bring to the table for others to embrace, especially here with us at BME.
Ivy found BME through her own family member recommending her to join the team. She began here with us as a customer representative. Her family grew, in her eyes, as she welcomed BME into her heart with open arms. Her favorite thing about working here is the culture and safe, positive environment we strive to maintain at BME. Growth continued for Ivy as she evolved into our senior systems administrator. She reflects on what it was like to change from a client-facing role to the behind-the-scenes support that makes BME run like a fine-tuned engine. Appreciating the occasional challenges she faces in her current role, as well as the challenges she experienced throughout changing roles. Her talent of managing stress amongst it all is explained by her, to be a result of being able to lean on the team when she needs it. She delves into her passion and hunger for continuous learning and how she finds it absolutely necessary not only in her role but for all roles in companies moving forward.
Joyce joins us on this episode of BME Stories where she dives into some touching and personal experiences during her time with us. She started at BME with some executive experience under her belt, but admits taking a full time role with us was like jumping into the deep waters. She couldn’t get enough of it, though, as she took that jump and has not looked back since. This episode becomes more personal as Joyce goes into the most stressful time she has had since she's been here. — Surviving a natural disaster in her hometown left her and her family lacking safe drinking water, electricity and overall unable to contact anyone outside of their immediate physical location. She said she was truly touched by how caring our BME family is and was during this time for her. We strive to put our relationships first, and this, of course, includes the relationships of our family members here at BME. Join us at BME stories client spotlight while we discuss Dan Stillman and his company YoMenGa. He started this company with one thing in mind: somewhere for men to gather in a safe and supportive environment to work on their health and well-being. But it has turned into much more than that. YoMenGa has become somewhere men can go to learn how to manage almost every part of their lives. How to embrace their inner self psychologically, how we heal from our difficult lessons and all together rethink the way we – well – think! Are you ready? We surely are.
Andre reflects on his past and what brought him to BME. He shares with us a mantra used as he was in seminary school (college) which is “bloom where you’re planted.” Andre tried to stay planted in one career and spent years in the outsourcing industry. He started at the bottom of the ladder as tech support for DSL (which became AT&T)! He rose up the ladder and was transferred to a loan company in the US. until he took the opportunity to return home to his family and raise his daughter.
Thankfully, Andre has planted himself here with us at BME and talks about some of his favorite things that make us grow. Service being the main theme of who we are as a company is something Andre felt absolutely necessary to talk about. He describes the servitude of every member of this company as being contagious and finds it to be the best part of BME. From his experience in the business world, this is seldom seen. He delves into some other things he finds favorable about managing the clients we have at BME. Being able to work closely with Gabe and learn more every day. The camaraderie and support we get from one another, especially when we have any hold-ups or issues. He also enjoys the projects and clients who allow for more creative output (i.e. HVAC companies usually have nice bright colors so our design team can show off their talent).
His advice returns to blooming where you are planted. Do your best with whatever you are working on or toward. This is why he can attest and guarantee our team here at BME will give our mission, work, clients and each other the best of ourselves that we can.
